Blogger friends’ books
Hey! Howโs the morning going? Hope youโre having a great one so far <3 I just finished up a morning stretch, an awesome breakfast, and am ready to enjoy the dayโs adventures.
I feel inspired with recipes lately. Itโs certainly a mixture of a few things: the fall produce (gimme ALL THE SQUASHES), enjoying new dishes, and the fact that Iโve had a couple of awesome new cookbooks to enjoy. New cookbooks always help me to think outside of my usual habits, and they’re an enjoyable way to take down time when youโve been working on creating your own recipes. Itโs comforting to breeze through a recipe knowing that someone else has carefully tested it for you. My two latest faves are even better because they were written by very good friends.
The first one is this PTV: The Part-time Vegetarian Smoothies and Juices, which was written by Tina.
Iโve had the pleasure of hanging out with Tina quite a few times, and sheโs become one of my closest blogging buddies. (I still havenโt met Murphy though, and am borderline obsessed with that pug cuteness.) Tina is also a new mama, a CrossFitter, and writes an awesome blog if you havenโt checked it out.
To write this book, she had to create and test over 140 smoothie recipes in two months (!!!!). When I received my copy, I was amazed by how beautifully it came together. Not only are the recipes incredibly creative (so fresh and vibrant!), but the full-page color photos are gorgeous. There are so many awesome smoothie and juice combos in here, and itโs really encouraged me to step out of the usual rotation. I tend to make the same smoothies and juices over and over, and for the past few weeks, Iโve been using quite a few of Tinaโs amazing recipes.

Another cookbook that I was particularly excited about: Seriously Delish by Jessica.
Ok, so Iโve never met Jess in real life (sad face), but weโve been blog friends since the early days. Iโm also convinced that sheโs the Pilotโs dream wife. I read him some of the titles of her blog post recipes, and he walked to the kitchen to get a bowl of cereal with a trail of drool on the floor behind him. Needless to say, her recipes always go well in our household ๐ In pure Jess fashion, the cookbook pages are filled with beautiful photos and unique recipes. Thereโs a beautiful mix of indulgent and healthy options; I love that everything is made from scratch.
A huge hit: these chewy granola bars. Theyโre a medley of oats, pumpkin seeds, flax, sunflower seeds, chia, honey…
and for her first bar, Liv was walking around the house saying โMmmmm. Mmmm! Mmm. Mmmm!”
Hereโs the thing: the PR reps sent me copies of these cookbooks, and I had already ordered both on Amazon. So, Iโd love to give them to one of you! Just leave a comment below with something thatโs inspiring to you, or your favorite cookbook ever, and Iโll pick a winner this Thursday midnight EST. Iโll send both of these cookbooks to the winner, along with whatever goodies find their way into the box ๐
xoxo

My favorite cookbook ever is Angela Liddon’s Oh She Glows Cookbook. That thing is my bible!
My favorite cookbook is my Moosewood restaurant cookbook
I love Tina’s blog and can’t wait to check out her book!
Something inspiring to me lately is the quote “Stop aspiring, start doing”. It’s a constant reminder that TODAY is the day to start making your dreams happen =).
I’d love these cookbooks, I need all the help I can get over here!!
I adore the pioneer woman but I’m looking to find healthier recipes as I work to get into shape!
My favorite cookbook is a huge Taste of Home cookbook, mainly because it has a lot of basic recipes in every category as well as information about how to store, prep, and cook a variety of foods which has helped me learn a lot about cooking and inspires me to try new things. I think Jessica’s cookbo
oops! was saying that I think Jessica’s cookbook looks awesome and I love her recipes from her blog so I’d like to have her cookbook!
I don’t have a favorite cookbook (unless Pinterest counts!) but I have been eyeing both of these. My aunt and I love making new to us desserts, Seriously Delish would be perfect.
I am in love with the Happy Herbivore cookbooks since I am trying to transition to a plant-based life style (slowly – I love cheeeeese!). Her recipes are quick to make and super easy to follow.
I’ve enjoyed finding recipes from “Extendig the Table: A World Community Cookbook”, it has neat stories of people from all around the world in the spirit of More-with-Less.
I am inspired by my 10 year old daughter’s determination and hard work at gymnastics! She has big goals and is working towards them! ๐
Excited to get back into the kitchen after the summer heat. I’m all about cauliflower pizza this week–topped with veggies, lots of tomato sauce, protein, and the sharpest pecorino. Mmmmm
I’m still so inspired by everything in the garden this time of year. So much good, fresh food!
I’m feeling inspired by (as cheesy as this is) this commercial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGAv8w6J9Uw GOOSEBUMPS.
Recently, I’m thinking Fall! Squash, soup, chili.. can’t wait to dive in! Would love these cookbooks! ๐
My favorite cookbook is the one my college dining hall put together the year I graduated. Making the recipes I enjoyed there brings me right back to my college days!
I’m inspired by fall in New England: soups, chili, cornbread, pumpkin, sweaters, scarves, crunchy leaves underfoot on walks and runs.
I LOVE fall and all food-things involving fall, ESPECIALLY apples. On a whim one year, I bought an entirely Apple cookbook in the checkout line at a bookstore. It has become my favorite! Not the most versatile, but a staple in my kitchen from September – December!
Mark Bittman’s “How to Cook Everything” taught me the basics and so much more. I still use it constantly!
Ah I have seen Tina’s book getting rave reviews and have been meaning to buy it for a few weeks now! All of the fall vegetables that are now in season are inspiring me to try new things
I’m actually inspired by many of the blogs I read, yours included ๐
My favorite cookbook currently is Power Foods by the Editors of Whole Living Magazine. I just like that they focus on nutrient rich foods. But, I’m also using recipes I find in Women’s Health and Shape magazines. I made a killer paella from a recipe I found in there!
My mom’s brain is my favorite cookbook! I will remember this dish we had growing up and call her, she immediately knows what I am talking about and can tell me how to make it.
I never would have imagines how much inspiration I’d get from joining a CSA – from the veggies to the farms story, it’s amazing. This summer was the first time I signed up and I quickly signed up for a fall subscription. And right now I’m loving Isa Does It!

Cookie season (Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas) is coming up. So my favorite cookbook this time of year is ‘Cookies’ by Martha Stewart.
“Meatless: More Than 200 of the Very Best Vegetarian Recipes” has been a lifesaver for me. I’m a vegetarian and this cookbook helped me show my meat-eating fiance that vegetarian food can be wonderful , delicious, and filling too.
jess is awesome and hilarious!!!!
i’m just simply inspired by all the people who keep going even when the going gets tough!
I’m inspired by all the fresh vegetables this time of year. I don’t have a go-to cookbook right now so I’d love to win these two. I’m especially excited about Tina’s book because I’ve been really into juicing lately and would love to try some new recipes.
the cool weather inspires me to make comfort foods with pumpkin and squash
I’m inspired by all women trying to promote fitness and nutrition – especially to their families. I personally am trying to expand my family’s eating habits to include more vegetables and legumes. I am the only bean eater in the house! I absolutely adore cookbooks and get teased for perusing them so often.
I’m getting more and more excited about fall. I’ve never lived extremely close to a farmers’ market, but I do now since we’ve moved. I love how delicious and healthy my food choices are currently.
My favorite cookbook is DALS by Jenny Rosenstrach!
I’m really inspired by nature. I recently made a move from Michigan to NYC for grad school, and I’ve really realized how much I love being outside in parks and forests, etc. So there’s definitely something about the outdoors that is calming, grounding, and inspiring.
I LOVE the Detox Solution! I make a ton of her recipes and my family loves them- score! I love getting new cookbooks!
I’m excited for all things pumpkin- have already baked pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for the kids!
I have been wanting these books! Its fall cooking time!
I have been trying a lot out of the Oh She Glows cookbook!
Fall is inspiring to me right now! The slight change in weather has me feeling so excited for organizing my closet (and bringing out my cooler weather clothes), trying new recipes, and doing some outdoor workouts that I reserve for the cooler temperatures (like walking stadium steps).
Smitten Kitchen’s cookbook = food porn.
Kind of a cookbook, kind of a “how to cook” book but Ruhlman’s Twenty: http://www.amazon.com/Ruhlmans-Twenty-Techniques-Recipes-Manifesto/dp/0811876438
<3
Lately my diet has been restricted (medical reasons) but I am allowed to have ALL the pumpkin, and not the baked into healthy treats pumpkin, but REAL pumpkin. It’s the first time I’ve actually ate the pumpkin I bought and it’s delicious in SO many ways! I’ve had my eye on Tina’s book and would love to see the different recipes she’s come up with!
Something that’s inspiring me…The cooler temps & my upcoming marathon are inspiring me to utilize my slow cooker for healthy, comfort food ๐
My favorite cookbook is…that’s tough! I’ve probably used Peas and Thank You’s cookbook more than any other, but I also love Oh She Glow’s. I love blogger cookbooks because they feel more personal and less intimidating than random ones from “famous” people.
I’m inspired with all the fall recipes around the web! So much yumminess…:)
I love the Sprouted Kitchen cookbook, so many great, whole foods recipes!
I am really enjoying the “Oh She Glows” cookbook by Angela Liddon. So many great vegan soup and salad recipes I’m addition to amazing desserts and mains that even non vegans enjoy! Beautiful photography from this talented fellow Canadian. I’ve been wanting to purchase the Delish cookbook, so would be great to get a copy for free!
I don’t have a favorite cookbook, but I do love Cooking Light Magazine!
I love A Matter of Taste, but then again, I love all cookbooks and also Tina’s blog!
My favorite cookbook right now is Against All Grain by Danielle Walker! I haven’t made a recipe from that book that someone in my family didn’t like. It’s wonderful! With that being said, I’m truly excited about Jess’ new cookbook and am dying to check it out!
My favorite cookbooks are from Elana Amsterdam, known as the almond flour cook.
One of my favorite cookbooks is “The Whole Life Nutrition Kitchen”.
both of these cookbooks look great! I am dying to try that granola bar that Livi loves!
