Blogger friends’ books
Hey! How’s the morning going? Hope you’re having a great one so far <3 I just finished up a morning stretch, an awesome breakfast, and am ready to enjoy the day’s adventures.
I feel inspired with recipes lately. It’s certainly a mixture of a few things: the fall produce (gimme ALL THE SQUASHES), enjoying new dishes, and the fact that I’ve had a couple of awesome new cookbooks to enjoy. New cookbooks always help me to think outside of my usual habits, and they’re an enjoyable way to take down time when you’ve been working on creating your own recipes. It’s comforting to breeze through a recipe knowing that someone else has carefully tested it for you. My two latest faves are even better because they were written by very good friends.
The first one is this PTV: The Part-time Vegetarian Smoothies and Juices, which was written by Tina.
I’ve had the pleasure of hanging out with Tina quite a few times, and she’s become one of my closest blogging buddies. (I still haven’t met Murphy though, and am borderline obsessed with that pug cuteness.) Tina is also a new mama, a CrossFitter, and writes an awesome blog if you haven’t checked it out.
To write this book, she had to create and test over 140 smoothie recipes in two months (!!!!). When I received my copy, I was amazed by how beautifully it came together. Not only are the recipes incredibly creative (so fresh and vibrant!), but the full-page color photos are gorgeous. There are so many awesome smoothie and juice combos in here, and it’s really encouraged me to step out of the usual rotation. I tend to make the same smoothies and juices over and over, and for the past few weeks, I’ve been using quite a few of Tina’s amazing recipes.

Another cookbook that I was particularly excited about: Seriously Delish by Jessica.
Ok, so I’ve never met Jess in real life (sad face), but we’ve been blog friends since the early days. I’m also convinced that she’s the Pilot’s dream wife. I read him some of the titles of her blog post recipes, and he walked to the kitchen to get a bowl of cereal with a trail of drool on the floor behind him. Needless to say, her recipes always go well in our household 😉 In pure Jess fashion, the cookbook pages are filled with beautiful photos and unique recipes. There’s a beautiful mix of indulgent and healthy options; I love that everything is made from scratch.
A huge hit: these chewy granola bars. They’re a medley of oats, pumpkin seeds, flax, sunflower seeds, chia, honey…
and for her first bar, Liv was walking around the house saying “Mmmmm. Mmmm! Mmm. Mmmm!”
Here’s the thing: the PR reps sent me copies of these cookbooks, and I had already ordered both on Amazon. So, I’d love to give them to one of you! Just leave a comment below with something that’s inspiring to you, or your favorite cookbook ever, and I’ll pick a winner this Thursday midnight EST. I’ll send both of these cookbooks to the winner, along with whatever goodies find their way into the box 😉
xoxo

Lately I’ve been loving Angela’s Oh She Glows cookbook, but have really been wanting to try Simply Delish. I have been reading her blog for years, so I feel like I know her (even though I don’t!) and love all the recipes I’ve tried from her site!
Right now, I’m really inspired by all the wonderful fall produce making its way back on the store shelves.. especially apples 🙂
I don’t have a favorite cookbook, but I did just get Seriously Delish from the library and now I’m convinced I need to buy it!!
I love Tosca Reno’s Eat Clean books, but I tend to get most of my food inspiration from the Internet. Oh She Glows, How Sweet It is, Skinnytaste and of course you are some of my most favourite!!
thank you so much! love angela, jess and gina’s blogs too. have you made gina’s pumpkin turkey chili? TO DIE FOR
I’m a vegetarian so I’ve never looked at it! I’m going to check right now to see if I can substitute something for the turkey. I <3 PUMPKIN 🙂 🙂
you could do like a field roast sausage crumbled (not sure how they heat in the slow cooker but could sautee and add at the end?) or even add some crumbled tempeh after? mmmmm…..
Getting back into a running routine has inspired me- I want to eat we’ll and fuel my body with all the good things! My very long blog list has provided me with a ton of fun recipes to try!
I do not have a favorite cook book yet as I am in search of one as a new mom and new wife. I have been with my husband since I was 15. We had our son in March and now I am making it my mission to have a healthy family and healthy life style. I found your blog and was instantly hooked, I am thinking about looking into these two books so Thanks for the post!!! My favorite quote right now is “Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself”.
Both cook books look amazing! I’m inspired my clean eats that actually taste good as well! I enjoy your gluten-free baked goods and your other creative, healthy dishes. I recently made the butter chicken- so good.
I don’t have a fav, but I recently bought the oh she glows cook book (late to the party!)
My favorite cookbook has to be Veganomicon! It is definitely one of my most used!
Eating for Life is my all-time favorite cookbook. Healthy, delicious recipes that I always go back to.
My cookbook obsession of late is the Family Cooks by Laurie David. Every recipe we’ve tried has been a hit with whole family.
You know what would be inspiring? To be able to get my husband to eat “weird healthy” things because I made a recipe so good he couldn’t taste them. I would feel sooo great about that! I’d love to win!
Just like you, I am excited to try new ingredients and combinations of foods. Sometimes something that sounds so odd, looks delicious in a picture and then I am intrigued to give it a whirl!!
Favorite cookbook ever? Primal Cravings, the recipes in this cookbook are some of my staples – if I don’t know what to cook I always fall back to the Cowboy Hash or the Thai meatballs!
I’m obsessed with the Huckleberry Cookbook (an amazing little cafe/bakery here in LA). My boyfriend’s mom gifted it to me and I am reading it like a novel before bed. I love cookbooks!
I have a few favorites from Gwyneth Paltrow’s book, “It’s all Good”. The Sweet Potato and 5 Spice Muffins are to die for!
My favorite cookbook isn’t actually published. It’s one I made that’s a compilation of all my favorite recipes from my favorite cookbooks, blog friends, IRL friends, family and also ones I’ve created myself. I’m always adding to it, and am also a science nerd (I’m working on my MS in Human Nutrition) so I’ll cut out interesting food/fitness-related articles I read and throw them in there. I call it my wellness binder. 🙂
My favorite cookbook is actually a freebie I got from Costco – so many good/easy/quick recipes. I would love to try Jessica’s or Tina’s!
My sister is a registered dietitian as well as an amazing cook, she sends me recipes to help spice up and healthify my life all the time, so she is kind of like a personal cook book! Plus, she is one of the biggest inspirations in my life.
Pinterest is definitely my cooking inspiration, and I also love the Jerusalem cookbook.
Hmmm I’m loving my vegan slow cooker cookbook right now – perfect for fall soups
My favorite cookbook is Food to Live By, it has sen better days I’ve used it so much.
I loved Giada’s healthy cookbook that she just released last year. I also really love my Ina Garten cookbooks 🙂 Right now, I am feeling inspired by the changing weather and the “turning over a new leaf” mode that we all get into in autumn. 🙂
I’ve been lusting after the Seriously Delish cookbook! I love her blog!
My favorite cookbook is one put together by the members of my childhood church. It’s full of not only yummy recipes and fun stories. Every time I use it I’m taken back to my hometown and I always feel at peace.
What awesome cookbooks! One of my favorites is actually Peas and Thank You. I miss her blog. 🙁
i miss her blog, too! sarah has amazing recipes
Lovely giveaway! My favorite cookbook right now is smitten kitchen.
I’d like to discover a favorite cookbook…I tend to cook off recipes online or just make things up as I go. Love the idea of having a go-to book to page through for tecipe inspiration!
I don’t usually use cookbooks regularly. I tend to get all my new recipes from reading blogs like yours! I would be great to have a new cookbook since mine are about 12 years old.
I am inspired to try some new recipes!
I really enjoy the Oh, She Glows cookbook!
Against all Grain is my favorite book currently. I love looking online too! Thanks for the chance to win!
I also have a freebie one from Costco that I like. But my favorite would have to be a Newlywed Cookbook. I received it as a wedding present. It is geared towards cooking for two which is a bonus.
I picked up “nom nom paleo” at costco recently and really like it so far!
I am inspired by that smoothie cookbook. I am in a rut with smoothies and need some inspiration.
I love trying new things, and cookbooks with beautiful pictures!! Inspires me that much more to try the recipe. =)
I just recently started a new job AND moved to a new apartment, and have been relying rather…heavily, ahem, on convenience foods. I’m inspired to get into a new healthy routine again to get back on track!
I love all of Pioneer Woman’s cookbooks!
One of my favorite cookbooks is actually the Flat Belly Diet cookbook. The recipes are all really easy, delicious, healthy, and contain ingredients I actually have. I also love Sarah’s Peas and Thank You.
Oh She Glows is my current favourite, though working away on your 30-day plan so I’m pretty devoted to Fitnessista recipes right now 🙂
how’s it going so far??
It’s great! My leg muscles are a bit mad at me today, but they needed a change. Thanks for putting it together!
Pinterest has definitely become a go to for recipes but my favorite cookbook is How Easy is That by Ina Garten!
ina garten is my favorite. wouldn’t it be amazing to have her as an aunt?
i have a feeling jess’s cookbook would end up being my favorite cookbook ever!!! love her blog and want that cookbook so badly!
I am a FULL time vegetarian and I also love How Sweet. Always looking for new recipes and would love to try out some new ones from these books. Thanks!
Before I moved to Atlanta for work, my mom made me a “cook book” (a small binder she decorated) that contained all of my favorite recipes and things she loves to make. It’s definitely my favorite, and most used, cook book 🙂
I don’t have a favorite cookbook but am on the lookout for some inspiration. I have been in a cooking rut lately.
My favorite cook book is Daphne Oz’s Relish!
ohh i need to check that one out!
I really like the Elana’s Pantry cookbooks. When I switched to a paleo style of eating, her silver dollar pancakes saved my weekend breakfasts!
The Oh She Glows cookbook is definitely my current go-to!
You can’t go wrong with Julia Child- she’s classic!
I think the most falling-apart cookbook I have is my King Arthur Flour cookbook – I’ve read it cover to cover so many times and it taught me the science of baking. My other fave – an oldie, but a goodie is The New Basics by Julee Rosso and Sheila Lukins.
