Blogger friends’ books
Hey! Howโs the morning going? Hope youโre having a great one so far <3 I just finished up a morning stretch, an awesome breakfast, and am ready to enjoy the dayโs adventures.
I feel inspired with recipes lately. Itโs certainly a mixture of a few things: the fall produce (gimme ALL THE SQUASHES), enjoying new dishes, and the fact that Iโve had a couple of awesome new cookbooks to enjoy. New cookbooks always help me to think outside of my usual habits, and they’re an enjoyable way to take down time when youโve been working on creating your own recipes. Itโs comforting to breeze through a recipe knowing that someone else has carefully tested it for you. My two latest faves are even better because they were written by very good friends.
The first one is this PTV: The Part-time Vegetarian Smoothies and Juices, which was written by Tina.
Iโve had the pleasure of hanging out with Tina quite a few times, and sheโs become one of my closest blogging buddies. (I still havenโt met Murphy though, and am borderline obsessed with that pug cuteness.) Tina is also a new mama, a CrossFitter, and writes an awesome blog if you havenโt checked it out.
To write this book, she had to create and test over 140 smoothie recipes in two months (!!!!). When I received my copy, I was amazed by how beautifully it came together. Not only are the recipes incredibly creative (so fresh and vibrant!), but the full-page color photos are gorgeous. There are so many awesome smoothie and juice combos in here, and itโs really encouraged me to step out of the usual rotation. I tend to make the same smoothies and juices over and over, and for the past few weeks, Iโve been using quite a few of Tinaโs amazing recipes.

Another cookbook that I was particularly excited about: Seriously Delish by Jessica.
Ok, so Iโve never met Jess in real life (sad face), but weโve been blog friends since the early days. Iโm also convinced that sheโs the Pilotโs dream wife. I read him some of the titles of her blog post recipes, and he walked to the kitchen to get a bowl of cereal with a trail of drool on the floor behind him. Needless to say, her recipes always go well in our household ๐ In pure Jess fashion, the cookbook pages are filled with beautiful photos and unique recipes. Thereโs a beautiful mix of indulgent and healthy options; I love that everything is made from scratch.
A huge hit: these chewy granola bars. Theyโre a medley of oats, pumpkin seeds, flax, sunflower seeds, chia, honey…
and for her first bar, Liv was walking around the house saying โMmmmm. Mmmm! Mmm. Mmmm!”
Hereโs the thing: the PR reps sent me copies of these cookbooks, and I had already ordered both on Amazon. So, Iโd love to give them to one of you! Just leave a comment below with something thatโs inspiring to you, or your favorite cookbook ever, and Iโll pick a winner this Thursday midnight EST. Iโll send both of these cookbooks to the winner, along with whatever goodies find their way into the box ๐
xoxo
Gina
Such a thoughtful giveaway. I read both of those blogs and am particularly inspired by How Sweet Eats. She is fun and casual and comes off an genuine in her goofy, fun way.
My all-time favorite cookbook, however, is Mark Bittman’s How to Cook Everything. It is a perfect resource for a girl like me who likes to fly by the seat of her pants in the kitchen.
Cooking Light inspires me with their pretty pictures.
My favorite cookbook is one that is totally dedicated to my favorite food: risotto! ๐
I don’t axtually own any cookbooks but I’m working in writing my own and would love to win for inspiration.
My favorite cookbook is the one my mom assembled for me that includes all of our best family recipes. ๐ Also, blogs like yours!! Your “best pasta salad you’ll ever have in your life” pasta salad is my go-to for potlucks, always, and and it is ALWAYS a huge hit.
so awesome!! thank you, and happy you like it ๐
Fresh From the Vegan Slow Cooker is my current fave. I have been trying to eat less meat and I love letting the slow cooker work its magic!
My favorite cookbook might be Better Homes and Gardens. So many delicious staples in that bad boy.
I read Jess’ book cover to cover in less than a week. I can’t wait to get cooking. I would love to win a copy of the Part Time Vegan!
I’m a huge fan of Palomg’s cook books! I do paleo about 90% of the time and recipes are very helpful in keeping my cravings in check and always coming up with interesting flavor combinations!
My go-to cookbooks are all by Ellie Krieger – pretty much every go-to meal I make is one of hers. I do love trying new recipes by my favorite bloggers, and would love some inspiration!
I second the Vegan Slow Cooker book! I’ve always found eating enough veggies challenging. Any cookbook that inspires me to use more veggies is a plus for me!
my mother is inspiring to me! she puts meals on the table every night without a cookbook even if she isnt the best cook ๐
I think the largest inspiration for me is reading blogs like yours where you get to follow your passion. I feel like I’m in this rut and waiting to see the light. I love fitness, writing up blog posts and talking about health but with this full time job taking up the majority of my time I’ve lost that passion for the moment. Reading your blog daily makes me know I can get there one day. I’m just waiting for that right moment.
I love the Giada cookbooks…it doesn’t hurt that Italian is my favorite type of food ๐
Anyone who is a working mom and can find time for fitness & healthy eating is an inspiration to me. I used to be a stay at home mom and worked out and made all homemade meals. Now single mom of three teenagers and working two jobs its hard to balance. But I am determined!!
wow, girl. you are amazing <3
Thank you! one day at a time! I follow you to keep inspired!
I don’t have too many cookbooks anymore but one I’ll never get rid of is from my grandmas. Its filled with family recipes and I love looking through it!
I love the South Beach Diet cookbook…easy, fast and good recipes!!
I love pretty much every cookbook I can get my hands on!
Favorite cookbooks ever are probably Against all Grain and Meals Made Simple by Danielle Walker. So many great recipes!
Not sure I could pick a favorite since I am a bit of a cookbook hoarder but my two newest additions to the cookbook family are the Oh she glows cookbook and Choosing Raw.
I get much more inspired cooking for someone other than myself. I go out of the way to try and find something new and interesting that will, hopefully, be impressive!
Anything my mom makes is amazing and inspiring! She is a chef and has a culinary school and catering business, and she makes the richest, most decadent desserts – to.die.for!
Hi Gina–I love all of the Barefoot Contessa cookbooks!
I love the Hungry Girl cookbook series
My favorite inspiration for recipes is skinnytaste.com!
I’d love copies of these cookbooks! I’m definitely in a recipe rut right now.
The Oh She Glows Cookbook by Angela Liddon is my favorite cookbook! Every recipe I’ve made has been healthy and so delicious! A must have!
Thanks for the giveaway Gina!
angela is so talented; i love her recipes, too!
Changing seasons are inspiring to me! I love all the new foods to play with, ESPECIALLY squash! Yum.
Hmm…what’s inspiring me right now is all my friends in my triathlon club that are about to compete in Ironman Chattanooga!
I need more cookbooks in my life! Right now it’s a notebook stuffed with handwritten recipes after a frantic call to my mom…nothing like following your moms recipe ๐
A friend recently gave me a copy of the The Forest Feast cookbook and it is wonderful. Would love to see what your recommendations have in store!
I get recipes and inspiration from all sorts of places, but my favorite cookbook that I own is the Eat Clean Diet Cookbook by Tosca Reno.
I love The Working Class Foodie’s Cookbook by Rebecca Lando that a friend got me for Christmas. Every single recipe I’ve tried and I love the author’s food philosophy!
I love practical paleo!
One of my favourite cookbooks is Paleo Comfort Foods.
I love the photography and recipes in the Oh she glows Cook book. However, my husband is not always thrilled as I am, with my vegan attempts…….. I usually end up using recipes from the Loonyspoons/Eat shrink and be Merry cookbooks, and everything I’ve made so far has been excellent.
My favorite recipe inspiration is Pinterest!
I grab inspiration from all over the place, and all the goodies find their way into my 3-ring binders of recipes. I actually have your compilation of great smoothie recipes in there for when I’m in the mood to shake things up. (although, truthfully, the chocolate cherry one wins every.time.) Thanks!
that’s my favorite one too ๐
I really like Giada’s cookbooks. I’m a disaster in the kitchen so every cookbook helps!!
I have the same obsession with Jess’s blog that you do. Everything of her’s that I’ve made has been delicious and I just love her funny and real writing style. I just made her “lightened up enchiladas” last week and my husband was obsessed! I have been dying to get my hands on her cookbook, I asked for it for my birthday…didn’t get it :/ but I did get some pretty great gifts instead.
p.s. I love Lexi’s Clean Kitchen blog! She has some great recipes, favorite of late is the Shakshuka ๐
I love this Slow Cooker recipe book we have around my kitchen. So creative and creates delicious meals while you’re out for the day!
I love Tosca Reno cookbooks!
Right now I’m inspired by the cooler fall weather to get outside and run on the trails! There’s no cookbook that I hate and I’m always ready to try a new one out!
My Mom is probably my biggest inspiration right now, she can do just about anything she puts her mind to, and she’s an amazing cook to boot! ๐
Cooler fall weather is inspiring to me right now. I’ve been able to move my fittness outdoors and it’s been refreshing! Oh and these cookbooks look awesome ๐
I LOVE cookbooks!! Right now I’m loving Gwenyth Paltrow’s “It’s All Good”! Such a beautiful book with great recipes. I’d love to try some new ones!!
I own multiple cookbooks but don’t have one that I use as a go-to book, I use multiple recipes in all of the books. I can see both of these books making the cut as my go-to books ๐
My favorite cookbook is one where all these people I know put in their family favorites. Every single recipe is a hit.
you inspire me with your commitment to leaving out your dreams.
Your blog and fANNEtasticfood inspires me! And I’m with you on “give me the squash!”. Made squash, mushroom and goat cheese quesadillas last night (courtesy of Women’s Health Magazine) and can’t wait to eat them for lunch!
Love Liv’s cute little shoes! lol and I love it when my kids (hubby is one too! lol) say ‘mmmm’ to my healthy goods. ๐ Inside I’m like, “yes!” they are eating flax and veggies and they don’t even know it ๐ Ha!
I would love some new cookbooks!! I get most inspired by seasonal, fresh produce. We get a produce delivery every week and I plan our meals based on what we get. Also love going to farmers markets!
