Blogger friends’ books
Hey! Howโs the morning going? Hope youโre having a great one so far <3 I just finished up a morning stretch, an awesome breakfast, and am ready to enjoy the dayโs adventures.
I feel inspired with recipes lately. Itโs certainly a mixture of a few things: the fall produce (gimme ALL THE SQUASHES), enjoying new dishes, and the fact that Iโve had a couple of awesome new cookbooks to enjoy. New cookbooks always help me to think outside of my usual habits, and they’re an enjoyable way to take down time when youโve been working on creating your own recipes. Itโs comforting to breeze through a recipe knowing that someone else has carefully tested it for you. My two latest faves are even better because they were written by very good friends.
The first one is this PTV: The Part-time Vegetarian Smoothies and Juices, which was written by Tina.
Iโve had the pleasure of hanging out with Tina quite a few times, and sheโs become one of my closest blogging buddies. (I still havenโt met Murphy though, and am borderline obsessed with that pug cuteness.) Tina is also a new mama, a CrossFitter, and writes an awesome blog if you havenโt checked it out.
To write this book, she had to create and test over 140 smoothie recipes in two months (!!!!). When I received my copy, I was amazed by how beautifully it came together. Not only are the recipes incredibly creative (so fresh and vibrant!), but the full-page color photos are gorgeous. There are so many awesome smoothie and juice combos in here, and itโs really encouraged me to step out of the usual rotation. I tend to make the same smoothies and juices over and over, and for the past few weeks, Iโve been using quite a few of Tinaโs amazing recipes.
Blueberry-basil smoothie:
Another cookbook that I was particularly excited about: Seriously Delish by Jessica.
Ok, so Iโve never met Jess in real life (sad face), but weโve been blog friends since the early days. Iโm also convinced that sheโs the Pilotโs dream wife. I read him some of the titles of her blog post recipes, and he walked to the kitchen to get a bowl of cereal with a trail of drool on the floor behind him. Needless to say, her recipes always go well in our household ๐ In pure Jess fashion, the cookbook pages are filled with beautiful photos and unique recipes. Thereโs a beautiful mix of indulgent and healthy options; I love that everything is made from scratch.
A huge hit: these chewy granola bars. Theyโre a medley of oats, pumpkin seeds, flax, sunflower seeds, chia, honey…
and for her first bar, Liv was walking around the house saying โMmmmm. Mmmm! Mmm. Mmmm!”
Hereโs the thing: the PR reps sent me copies of these cookbooks, and I had already ordered both on Amazon. So, Iโd love to give them to one of you! Just leave a comment below with something thatโs inspiring to you, or your favorite cookbook ever, and Iโll pick a winner this Thursday midnight EST. Iโll send both of these cookbooks to the winner, along with whatever goodies find their way into the box ๐
xoxo
Gina
Great giveaway! I love the “Against all Grain” book.
Not a cookbook, but I learned to cook reading the cooking light magazines (that plus a boyfriend that was willing to eat all of my learning mistakes!). I just got a vitamixer, so the smoothie cookbook would be a great addition to my collection!
YUM! Both sound so good. How Sweet Eats alwaaaays makes me drool too. I’m loving the Oh She Glows cookbook! While I’m not vegan, it’s great to mix in these plant-based meals and they are so hearty I never feel like anything is missing.
I just love cookbooks with beautiful photography. Sometimes I just page through my cookbooks because the pictures are so pretty. Ohsheglows is a favorite for that reason ๐
The cooler weather we’ve been having here in Connecticut has definitely inspired me to make soups, stews, and chili. Also, my most-used cookbook is Peas and Thank You…miss that blog!
I love Heidi Swanson’s Super Natural Everyday!
My hubby bought me America’s Test Kitchen Cookbook recently. It’s a huge cookbook-it’ll definitely take ma a while to work through it ๐
I seem to be inspired always by my Doberman. She wont let me go a day without a good run!
Those breakfast bars look amazing. They might inspire me to start making breakfast ahead of time ๐
Thank you for the chance to win, both of these look great!
To be totally honest, my favorite cookbook is my great-grandmother’s Fannie Farmer cookbook from the 1920’s. It has some wonderful old desserts and cakes that are just not made any more that I like to try out for special occasions.
I love Cooking Light cookbook. And would love to have the smoothie cookbook!
My favorite cookbook is the Healthy College Cookbook – Cooking outside the pizza box. It was my FIRST cookbook and it helped me learn a decent amount of basics. Love it! Still use it today even though I’m WAY out of college.
365 No Repeats by Rachael Ray. Seems so generic, but man are the make your own take out recipes ah-maz-ing!
My favorite cookbook is The Moosewood Cookbook. It doesn’t have any pictures but it is handwritten with drawings and doodles and everything I have made for there is delicious!
My favorite cookbook is actually an old church cookbook of my mom’s. It’s just recipes submitted by women and men from church that they put together for a fundraiser and it’s been around since I was little – stains and smudges and all.
Love this! I have been following How Sweet Eats for a while, and I would LOVE her cookbook!
I have been loving Oh She Glows cookbook, but would really like to mix it up! These cook books both look amazing. I would LOVE to be able to try some recipes from them!
i would love to read the smoothie and juices book as i’ve been in a bit of a recipe rut recently…
I actually don’t have a cookbook, but a big notebook that I tuck into my purse whenever I visit my grandma and she always dictates at least 1 new recipe for me – because like all pro grandmas she makes delicious food from recipes in her head.
I love both of those blogs! I’m feeling inspired by hitting the taper of my marathon training. And by “inspired,” I mean that I no longer have a good excuse to be shoving any and all food in my face. Reduced mileage is a blessing and a curse! ๐
I still remember when I was in middle school, I subscribed to Kraft Food&Family cookbook since there was a promotion going on. The colorful pictures and very simple recipes sparked my passion for baking that I still have today. 15 years later and I’m now baking for weddings. ๐
I love the America’s Test Kitchen cookbook!
I need both of these cookbooks! I love Tina and Jess’s blogs and have used many of their recipes!
Reading healthy blogs always gets me motivated to try new recipes!
I do love the “classic” cookbooks like Joy of Cooking, but those both sound great! I am getting married in a week so I need some new recipes to keep the hubby happy ๐
I actually pre-ordered Jessica’s book and am ABSOLUTELY CRAZY about it. I’ve made the granola bars too and they’re fan-tastic. But Tina’s book has been on my must-read list.
I finally got a vitamix and love finding new smoothie recipes! One of my favorite cookbooks is Veganomicon which taught me so many creative ways to cook clean foods!
I am in the middle of a diet overhaul, participating in a program with a nutritionist, and I am learning new things, but feeling a bit nostalgic as my current cookbook collection doesn’t reflect my new, healthy way of living. A few new additions would go a long way! Love cooking homemade food and trying new recipes. Thanks for the great post!
I love my crockpot cookbook! It’s so fun to see what amazing things you can create just from throwing stuff in a pot!
Cook 1.0 is a great intro to vegetarian cookbook that gave me confidence in the kitchen.
I’m having my 3rd baby in Dec and would LOVE some new cookbooks to continue adding healthy meals into our weekly rotations. I usually just get recipes online nowadays but i’d love to have a real cookbook to go off of!
Years ago my mom started a recipe book for me, filled with all her favourite (and my favourite!) recipes all hand written out, some on cards, some on paper, or fancy writing paper, post it notes, whatever she had at the time lying around. Over the years the pages also became filled with magazine and newspaper clippings of articles she’d think I would like or should read. It really touched my heart when she gave it to me, on a random day like it was no big deal, she said “you might as well have this now” haha…I am so inspired to “create” in my kitchen when I open it.
Another awesome giveaway Gina, thank you! My favorite cookbook is probably my America’s Test Kitchen cookbook; they really breakdown the ‘whys’ of the ingredients they used and the recipes always come out great.
I’m inspired by bloggers (via Pinterest) and Food Network, when and if I get a chance to watch it. And I don’t have a favorite cookbook… I learned to cook by watching “30-minute Meals” with Rachael Ray on Food Network, and then, later, when we both were interested in cooking, my mom, who is nearly fearless and willing to just wing it in the kitchen.
It’s inspiring to me when people can come up with creative, delicious and inventive recipes time and time again. I feel like I’m constantly in a food rut!
My favorite cookbook ever is definitely Super Natural Every Day by Heidi Swanson
I love the 3-ingredient cook book but recently started smoothie making in the morning and would love to get my hands on that cookbook!
My favorite cookbook ever is the Mayo Clinic Cookbook…sounds weird, but the recipes are healthy and awesome. It taught me that healthy food can be tasty and maybe a little fancy too ๐
Joe the Juicer is inspiring to me. I watched Fat Sick and Nearly Dead and was inspired to buy a juicer and start drinking up the goodness of fresh fruit and veggies! Would love to have a recipe book filled with new juice recipes! Also, How Sweet Eats is a daily stop for me. Love Jessica’s humor!
Since smoothies make a daily appearance in our house, I’d love to check out Tina’s new book. I love both of their blogs, but just haven’t made the purchase of their books yet.
Oh my goodness, this is the best giveaway! I love both these bloggers. I find inspiration from reading your, Tina & Jess’s blogs.
My favorite inspirational quote is:
“The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours- it is an amazing journey- and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.”
Thank you for such a great giveaway!
I’m inspired to use my oven again now that fall temps have arrived. I get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest right now, my favorite cookbook changes, but I love the looney spoons collection.
I love Gwenth Paltrow’s “It’s All Good” and Oh She Glows! Both have taught me how to eat delicious food while still eating clean! I have been dying to get my hands on these two as well ๐
my favourite cookbook was put together as a fundraiser for the small community I grew up in. I love that it is full of tested recipes.
My husband and his creative healthy cooking are most inspiring to me. He can make the most delicious meals with the simplest ingredients! Also, fun blogs such as yours and Iowa Girl Eats are fantastic….and of course…the pics of Pinterest always lead me to recreate drool-worthy tasty treats! ๐
I love the Pioneer Woman’s cookbooks. They have delicious recipies and the step by step pictures are awesome!
Strong women who go after their dreams and never give up is the most inspiring thing to me!
I love trying new smoothie recipes…it is a sure fire way to get my kids to eat veggies!
i love Giada’s Everyday Italian cookbook! So many great recipes in there.
