Blogger friends’ books
Hey! Howโs the morning going? Hope youโre having a great one so far <3 I just finished up a morning stretch, an awesome breakfast, and am ready to enjoy the dayโs adventures.
I feel inspired with recipes lately. Itโs certainly a mixture of a few things: the fall produce (gimme ALL THE SQUASHES), enjoying new dishes, and the fact that Iโve had a couple of awesome new cookbooks to enjoy. New cookbooks always help me to think outside of my usual habits, and they’re an enjoyable way to take down time when youโve been working on creating your own recipes. Itโs comforting to breeze through a recipe knowing that someone else has carefully tested it for you. My two latest faves are even better because they were written by very good friends.
The first one is this PTV: The Part-time Vegetarian Smoothies and Juices, which was written by Tina.
Iโve had the pleasure of hanging out with Tina quite a few times, and sheโs become one of my closest blogging buddies. (I still havenโt met Murphy though, and am borderline obsessed with that pug cuteness.) Tina is also a new mama, a CrossFitter, and writes an awesome blog if you havenโt checked it out.
To write this book, she had to create and test over 140 smoothie recipes in two months (!!!!). When I received my copy, I was amazed by how beautifully it came together. Not only are the recipes incredibly creative (so fresh and vibrant!), but the full-page color photos are gorgeous. There are so many awesome smoothie and juice combos in here, and itโs really encouraged me to step out of the usual rotation. I tend to make the same smoothies and juices over and over, and for the past few weeks, Iโve been using quite a few of Tinaโs amazing recipes.

Another cookbook that I was particularly excited about: Seriously Delish by Jessica.
Ok, so Iโve never met Jess in real life (sad face), but weโve been blog friends since the early days. Iโm also convinced that sheโs the Pilotโs dream wife. I read him some of the titles of her blog post recipes, and he walked to the kitchen to get a bowl of cereal with a trail of drool on the floor behind him. Needless to say, her recipes always go well in our household ๐ In pure Jess fashion, the cookbook pages are filled with beautiful photos and unique recipes. Thereโs a beautiful mix of indulgent and healthy options; I love that everything is made from scratch.
A huge hit: these chewy granola bars. Theyโre a medley of oats, pumpkin seeds, flax, sunflower seeds, chia, honey…
and for her first bar, Liv was walking around the house saying โMmmmm. Mmmm! Mmm. Mmmm!”
Hereโs the thing: the PR reps sent me copies of these cookbooks, and I had already ordered both on Amazon. So, Iโd love to give them to one of you! Just leave a comment below with something thatโs inspiring to you, or your favorite cookbook ever, and Iโll pick a winner this Thursday midnight EST. Iโll send both of these cookbooks to the winner, along with whatever goodies find their way into the box ๐
xoxo
Gina

I am really enjoying the Oh She Glows cookbook at the moment. So many winners in there!
As a BC native now living just on the other side of the Rockies in Alberta, the pictures you posted in your last post are inspiring to me in that they really make me love my home and want to get out hiking again soon. We are heading to Banff for Thanksgiving and I can’t wait to get back into the mountains! I consider myself very lucky to live in such a beautiful place ๐
Those both look great! Love Tina and I’m going to have to look into that granola bar recipe from Jessica!
I love the Make It Paleo cookbook!
I love both of their blogs and the cookbooks look great! I love looking at cookbooks, sometimes even just for the pictures ๐
I brought back an amazing cookbook from New Orleans, when I was there for Mardi Gras this year. The city I live in (Winnipeg) gets super cold in the winter, so cooking some Cajun recipes reminds me of the awesome, warm time I had there!
My favorite cookbook ever is Vegnomicon!
I am super inspired by all of my fitness/food/lifestyle bloggers, Jessica being top 3! Her blog inspired me to start my blog in 2010 and my love for writing and recipes grew even more! I met her at foodbuzz fest my first year of blogging and was starstruck but she gave me the best advice ever: be yourself, don’t ever chance your writing style because something is “popular” at the moment. ๐
I need those bars in my life! They look amazing! I’m always inspired by my mother’s cooking but rarely am able to recreate her magic….!
Love me some Skinnytaste recipes and always up for conquering a new one! Super inspired to start including a veggie in every meal!

I am still loving the Feast cookbook. Both of these look great!
Your pics from Canada are inspiring me right now…my husband and I have hiked some amazing places in the US, but since our two boys came along our hiking has taken a back seat. I’m itching to get on the road again and see some of God’s beautiful creations again!
Oooh, both cookbooks sound great! I’m an Isa fan — my favorite cookbooks are Appetite for Reduction and Isa Does it. Thanks! ๐

I am so inspired by Tina, to keep working out with a baby!! And, Jessica, to make everything from scratch! I would be so lucky to get a copy of these cookbooks. Fabulous giveaway ๐
I love the Cooking Light cookbooks – from the magazines.
But, these days, I get most recipes from the blogs I read (of course, yours!).
My favorite cookbook ever is Mark Bittman’s How To Cook Everything. It’s how I taught myself to cook in college. Current favorite is The Feed Zone, a really great cookbook for endurance athletes. It has really tasty, healthy, economical, and relatively simple recipes. My boyfriend’s favorite recipes I make come from that book.
Trader Joe’s is what’s inspiring me today…to start hoarding pumpkin products. ๐
I’ve been wanting both those cookbooks you got!

Most inspiring thing right now is single moms. While I’m blessed with a sweet 7 week old, I can’t imagine doing it on my own. Single moms are my heros!
I love my grandmothers cookbook! I also enjoy getting recipes from blogs!

My favorite cookbook ever is cooks illustrated best recipes. When’re I need a tried and true classic recipe that’s where i look. I have to admit, I’m a cookbook hoarder and would live to add these two to my collection!
Both these cookbooks look wonderful! I am loving 365 vegan smoothies there are so many yummy options!
My favorite cookbook is the book Jerusalem. Talk about amazing pictures! I love fresh, middle-eastern/Mediterranean style recipes, and this book pulls out all the stops. Everything I have made has been seriously amazing; my dinner guests are always impressed. And the book is filled with amazing pictures and stories about the region/culture.

One of my all-time fave cookbooks is the Newlywed Cookbook. It’s more toward the indulgent side than my day-to-day eats, but all from-scratch, seasonally focused and fun recipes to make with your numero uno. Great picks for weeknight suppers, brunches with friends and romantic date night dinners!
My favorite cookbooks are the ones compiled by America’s test kitchen! I love that they explain the science behind recipes, must be the nerd in me ๐ but every single recipe I have tried is amazing! And they even give u great tips on how to prep food, love it. That being said I don’t think they have a smoothie book so this one would be an awesome addition to my little growing collection!
I am loving the Superfood Smoothies and Superfood Juices books by Julie Morris. Such great combinations!
I just moved out and having my own kitchen again is so motivating to try new recipes! My all time favorite cookbook is a book my aunt put together of all of my grandmas recipes! She gave it to myself, my sister and two cousins for Xmas a few years ago!
