Blogiversary Giveaway

Hey guys! Thank you so much for the wonderful blogiversary wishes <3 You all make this such an awesome environment with your positive energy, comments and discussions <3 <3 <3 I have so much love, appreciation and respect for all of you.

This morning, after eating my blogiversary macaroon, I had a chocolate cherry bomb.

choc cherry

I thought the day might come when I would get sick of these things.. but it hasnโ€™t happened yet. Itโ€™s too delicious for words ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cool news: Open Sky added the Glass Dharma straws to my store, just for me ๐Ÿ™‚ They know how much I love these straws and since many of you ask where I purchased them โ€“theyโ€™ve been a fave since last fall!- I figured it would be a great addition if any of yaโ€™ll are in the market for some.

choc cherry (2)

Next, I took the puppers to the dog park for an hour to meet my friend Lauren and her two dogs, a beagle and chihuahua. The chihuahuaโ€™s name is Bosco, and he and Bella are deeply in love. They gazed into each otherโ€™s puppy eyes and I kept Viesa on the leash to abstain from eating the chihuahua out of jealousy.

She was a good girl, though ๐Ÿ™‚

Some of todayโ€™s eats:

vega

Vega Smoothie To-Go after my weight training sesh.

banana

Banana with almond butter and cinnamon + chai tea

And a wrap using this horseradish mustard that reader Teresa sent to me:

My nose was burning the entire time. I loved it ๐Ÿ™‚

wrap

So Iโ€™ve been promising yaโ€™ll a blogiversary giveaway and thought it would be fun to give away packages that I put together myself ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. Lauren S. on June 7, 2010 at 4:07 pm

To me a fitnessista is a person that is in the know when it comes to exercise and fitness. They stay on top of trends within fitness and can workout anywhere and anytime because of their vast knowledge. It is also someone that knows their body well, how much it can take, and when it needs to rest. Hopefully I am on my way to becoming one. Thanks for the giveaway. Happy Blogiversary!

  7. Lindsay on June 7, 2010 at 4:09 pm

A Fitnessista to me is someone who makes working out fun! They don’t dread excercising because they have made the routine something that they enjoy. Also, a fitnessista eats right to live life to its fullest!

  8. Sarah Jayne on June 7, 2010 at 4:09 pm

    Gina, you rock ๐Ÿ™‚

Fitnessista is being able to balance healthy living, being strong (real girls lift heavy weights!), and inspire others- all while enjoying good vino & raw vegan goodies ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. Anita on June 7, 2010 at 4:10 pm

I hope to continue to see you blog the way you have been doing for two years now! Fun, blood pumping work outs, healthy eating, recipes, and great pics of the “fur children” and the pilot! Love it!

  10. Alicia on June 7, 2010 at 4:10 pm

A Fitnessista is a hip, happy and healthy gal! Puts fitness and health into every aspect of her life. I love reading your site, it helps me realize what I want to put in my life, in terms of fitness. I think you do a great job with showing what you eat! It’s great to get ideas. I would like to see some more recipes.

  11. Michelle on June 7, 2010 at 4:11 pm

I would love to see more recipes on your blog coming this year. as a new vegetarian it has been hard to come up with new and simple recipes to enjoy so I have consulted your site for some and many of the recipes have been amazing. I would love to see a fitnessista cookbook for real!!!

  12. Amanda on June 7, 2010 at 4:11 pm

A fitnessista is one rockin’ lady- she looks good, but more importantly feels great, and it’s that confidence in her strides, lunges, crunches, and even forkfuls that encourages everyone around her to want to be better. A fitnessista has passion, patience, and persistence to just always keep improving all realms of her life for her own happiness.

  13. Richelle on June 7, 2010 at 4:12 pm

Being a Fitnessista means to me.. exercising, being active, living/eating healthily for YOU! Not to impress or compete with anybody else, but knowing that you’re taking care of yourself to the best of your ability ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Melissa on June 7, 2010 at 4:12 pm

A fitnessista is someone who enjoys being fit and works towards that on a daily basis while working towards being healthy in every day life.

  15. Victoria on June 7, 2010 at 4:12 pm

Fitnessista= someone who cares about HEALTH, not (just) looks. They strive to be well rounded: eat nutritionally but indulge, exercise regularly but not obsessively (doing stuff they like and enjoying being active). It’s like a fashionista but with health and fitness (sharing new tips and workouts and healthy recipes)! Someone who is an inspiration to others for health and fitness and who helps motivate those around them to lead a healthy lifestyle. They share their goals, accomplishments, and struggles with leading a healthy, fit life.
Fitnesissta is important for me because I’ve struggled with eating and a healthy lifestyle (obsessive excercise and calorie restriction) and I’m finally finding the right balance… discovering healthy eats and fun workouts, enjoying all of it (exercise AND food) while not feeling guilty or obsessive or crazy! I love reading about everything you do and it both inspires me and keeps me motivated to take care of my body.

  16. Kristen on June 7, 2010 at 4:13 pm

I think being a fitnessista describes the difference between being “skinny” and being “healthy.” It’s about letting go of the scale a little bit, and focusing on eating REAL food as opposed to fat-free, sugar-free chemically processed faux food, and being active in a way that works best for YOU! Thanks for being such a great role model of this ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Marguerite Miller on June 7, 2010 at 4:13 pm

A woman who cares about all aspects of fitness! Inside and outside! And who cares enough about herself to stay fit! (And just for you…ends everything in izzle or izzy!)

  18. Kim W. on June 7, 2010 at 4:13 pm

Fitnessista means to me: I have 3 fitnessista’s. (fitness sisters). I met these ladies on a fitness website message board. We’ve been friends for over a year now although we all live in different states (TX, OH, SC, OR). But through text messages, emails (over 15,000 emails exchanged in the last year), phone calls, letters, etc, we have managed to become steadfast fitness sisters (finesssistas) working hard to keep each other on track with calories, exercise, etc. any new things we add to our diets or great finds, etc. I wouldn’t know what to do without my fitnessistas!!

  19. Melissa on June 7, 2010 at 4:14 pm

A “fitnessista” is someone that loves their body and mind enough to reward it with good eats and plenty of movement!

  22. Therese on June 7, 2010 at 4:15 pm

What is a “fitnessista” to me? It’s a woman who not only treats herself (mind, body and soul) with respect but one who also passes that wisdom on to the women in her life. Uplifting, inspiring, encouraging and supporting these women to be the most they can be and showing them that they are so much more than they give themselves credit for.

Pretty much exactly what you do, Gina! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  23. Abby on June 7, 2010 at 4:15 pm

A fitnessista is someone who devotes their life to healthy living, eating, speaking, thinking and being. Fitnessistas rock..and they rock hard. It means living life with a smile and some sass. I love your blog and continue to be inspired by you everyday to make better choices and look at life with a positive attitude. In the upcoming year, I’d like to see more seksiii pilot photos (only half kidding!), and more recipes of your favorite dishes. Happy Blogiversary Gina!

Being a Fitnessista is a woman who has fun with fitness, healthy living, and a balanced diet. No extremes with eating or exercising, everything in moderation!

  30. mary ann on June 7, 2010 at 4:18 pm

well thanks to the pilot who informed us that your blog title isnt like a sister “sista” but like the -ista in “fasionista”, I consider a fitnessista to be alover/appreciator of all things fitness. Thatbeing said, I think its evident from your blog that this involves so many factors such as healthy eating, mind, body and soul. It also promotes balance. One day I hope to be a “fitnessista” too!

  42. Paula on June 7, 2010 at 4:22 pm

A “fitnessista” is someone who is passionate about being healthy. It’s not about size or shape, but about how the body works, and about doing what will make our bodies work best. It’s about doing the exercises that make you feel your best – looking your best is a bonus! It’s about eating the things that make your body work best. It’s about respecting your body.

  43. MareBare on June 7, 2010 at 4:22 pm

To me a fitnessista is someone who takes care of their body from the inside out. They’re not afraid to try something new whether it be something like maca powder or a turbo kick class (both new to me). You are a very inspiring fitnessista to me, I’ve been exposed to and tried new foods from seeing them here on this blog as well as reached out of my comfort zone with exercise- instead of endless minutes on the elliptical I’ve been doing trail interval runs, kickin bootay in the weight room, and having a blast! I am so glad its your blogiversary and I hope you keep doing this for a long time!

To me Fitnessista means you are living life of passion with a balance of physical activity, savvy, and fun.

I would like to see more recipes on the blog in the next year and explanation of routines and choices. It helps me when I hear others perspectives.
