Blogiversary Giveaway

Hey guys! Thank you so much for the wonderful blogiversary wishes <3 You all make this such an awesome environment with your positive energy, comments and discussions <3 <3 <3 I have so much love, appreciation and respect for all of you.

This morning, after eating my blogiversary macaroon, I had a chocolate cherry bomb.

choc cherry

I thought the day might come when I would get sick of these things.. but it hasnโ€™t happened yet. Itโ€™s too delicious for words ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cool news: Open Sky added the Glass Dharma straws to my store, just for me ๐Ÿ™‚ They know how much I love these straws and since many of you ask where I purchased them โ€“theyโ€™ve been a fave since last fall!- I figured it would be a great addition if any of yaโ€™ll are in the market for some.

Next, I took the puppers to the dog park for an hour to meet my friend Lauren and her two dogs, a beagle and chihuahua. The chihuahuaโ€™s name is Bosco, and he and Bella are deeply in love. They gazed into each otherโ€™s puppy eyes and I kept Viesa on the leash to abstain from eating the chihuahua out of jealousy.

She was a good girl, though ๐Ÿ™‚

Some of todayโ€™s eats:

vega

Vega Smoothie To-Go after my weight training sesh.

banana

Banana with almond butter and cinnamon + chai tea

And a wrap using this horseradish mustard that reader Teresa sent to me:

My nose was burning the entire time. I loved it ๐Ÿ™‚

wrap

So Iโ€™ve been promising yaโ€™ll a blogiversary giveaway and thought it would be fun to give away packages that I put together myself ๐Ÿ˜€

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s going to be in there:

roons

cookietaste

Fun goodies (Iโ€™ll ask the winners what kind of food and workouts they enjoy, and the package will include stuff like almond butter, bars, yoga gear, a workout or foodie shirt, stuff like that)

A fitnessista to me means, a passion for fitness and fashion. A “girly girl” who can still run the marathon. Plain and simple. Which I am proud to be! haha

  24. Diane on June 7, 2010 at 5:40 pm

There are several things I appreciate about your blog: first, that you update it a lot! I have three small kiddos and its fun to hide away at the computer for a couple of minutes and read the latest. Next, because I am very busy with kids, I’d like to see “everyday” type ideas that we can implement to improve our health, ie. small changes to make to our diets, ways we can tone while standing in line, playing with the kids, etc. It is hard for me to find the time to exercise in large chunks. I have to admit I first ran across your blog when I read a poll on-line questioning people: “is it OK to sneak food into the movies?” and your response was yes, you take popcorn sprinkled with nutritional yeast…and I thought, what kind of wacko is this lady? and I checked out your blog…I’ve been hooked ever since! BTW…what IS nutritional yeast?!?

  25. KellyB on June 7, 2010 at 5:41 pm

What a fitnessista means to me is someone who strives to be the best she can be through healthy eating and exercise!

  26. Hallie on June 7, 2010 at 5:44 pm

Congrats on the 2 years! I love to see the workouts you post…I would love if there was a way you could pull those out and keep them on a separate page for browsing…kinda like Tina at Carrots and Cake has, if that makes sense. But your blog rocks, keep up the good work!!

  27. Laura on June 7, 2010 at 5:44 pm

Happy Blogiversary! I started reading your blog just in time for summer shape up, and the workouts have definitely helped me get out of my exercise rut. I would love to see more “shape ups” or just individual workouts in the future. Of course, I would also love to see your macaroon recipe or to be able to buy them online in the coming year =)

  28. Kristen on June 7, 2010 at 5:44 pm

Happy Blogiversary!! I would love to see more recipes as well..I love learning new healthy recipes: ) I would also like to see more of your reviews on different things as well!

  29. Dee on June 7, 2010 at 5:44 pm

My entry: a fitnessista is a leader in health and fitness, very aware of what works and what does not work, and is happy to share what s/he knows. Are “he” fitnessistas, actually fitnessistOs?

  30. Erin on June 7, 2010 at 5:45 pm

A fitnessista is someone who knows that good health is more than just eating right and working out. It includes social, emotional, physical, and spiritual health!

  31. Anya on June 7, 2010 at 5:46 pm

Hi Gina! ๐Ÿ™‚ Congrats on the blogiversary, you’re doing awesome! I love this blog and all the encouragement it brings <3

To me a fitnessista is someone who's not just into fitness but finds it fun and enjoyable. Like you always say, it's better to do workouts we like and can sustain. ๐Ÿ™‚ So it's also someone who searches for a lifestyle that fits them, in terms of fitness or nutrition. Basically, finding fun in having a healthy lifestyle. It's something we all (love to) strive for.

Hmm I think your blog is pretty great but if I had to pick on thing that I'd like to see more recipes. So far the ones you've posted are simple and easy to include in every day life, and I'd love to see more of your cooking. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks a lot for maintaining this blog!

  32. Patricia on June 7, 2010 at 5:46 pm

Well, you are THE fitnessista. But a fitnessista, to me, is someone who relishes healthy living and physical fitness.

  33. lisa on June 7, 2010 at 5:47 pm

A Fitnessista celebrates life, health and vitality. She models good habits of mind and heart… she chooses exercises that are helpful not harmful and her healthy lifestyles makes her radiantly happy.

Would love to see more fashion posts in the next year of the blog!

  35. Jerilynne on June 7, 2010 at 5:48 pm

I don’t know what I could say that hasn’t already been said!

But I’ll try – to me, a fitnessista is someone who is dedicated to fitness and good nutrition but also has fun with it and balances it with the rest of her stylish, confident lifestyle!

    Happy Blogiversary =).

  36. Sunni Campbell on June 7, 2010 at 5:48 pm

A fitnessita is someone who has a passion for staying healthy, who isn’t afraid to try new types of fitness or foods, someone who is creative and always trying to improve themselves mentally and physically; all while looking extremely fashionable and inspiring others.

  37. Amy on June 7, 2010 at 5:48 pm

A fitnessista is obviously some one who is physically healthy, but I have also learned in the past half year (as I began reading your blog) that a fitnessista is also mentally healthy. You must love who you are no matter what, in order to be truly healthy.

Thanks for the fantastic inspiration, Gina =O))

  38. Dynamics on June 7, 2010 at 5:49 pm

Fitnessista is You, Gina, a warm and caring person who gives of herself by educating us and helping to make our lives better which in turns makes your life better.

More Recipes!!! I love, love, love recipes.

  39. Deborah B. on June 7, 2010 at 5:49 pm

I always enjoy your “raw ” food experiments or recipes, Im vegan and about 75 % raw so its always fun to read and see your experiences. I would love to see more raw food recipes and anything related to strength training and weight lifting ๐Ÿ™‚ but whatever you blog is always fun no matter what! Always makes me smile
Love your blog and happy blogiversary !

  41. Amanda on June 7, 2010 at 5:50 pm

To me, a fitnessista is someone who strives to be as healthy as she can in both body AND mind…part of being healthy is realizing that no one is perfect and pizza, cake, or wine is OK every once is a while ๐Ÿ™‚

  42. jeri on June 7, 2010 at 5:50 pm

I think a fitnessista is someone who’s fit and fabulous, and has that gorgeous glow from within.

  43. sonia on June 7, 2010 at 5:52 pm

a fitnessista to me is someone who takes joy out of being healthy and pushing them selves physically. the most important aspect of a fitnessista, is her ability to understand her body and what it needs, weather that be a green smoothie or a day off from working out she puts her body through the good.

  44. Jocelyn on June 7, 2010 at 5:53 pm

A fitnessista is someone who is dedicated to healthy living through working out + healthy food and makes it look fun! ๐Ÿ™‚

  45. TorontoGirloutWest on June 7, 2010 at 5:54 pm

Congratulations Gina!!!!!! Your blog is seriously lovely and a highlight of my reading! ๐Ÿ™‚

As for what a Fitnessista is – someone who understands it’s fashionable to workout. But not a disposable kind of fashionable. More like a classic Chanel suit. Always in style!

  46. Jannifer on June 7, 2010 at 5:54 pm

I would define a fitnessista as someone who strives to maintain a balance of physical, psychological, and spiritual health; someone who is constantly learning and challenging herself.
Happy blogiversary! Thanks for all the inspiration!

  47. Errign on June 7, 2010 at 5:55 pm

I really love all of your content as is – you’re real, fun, make killer food, and spend so much time making up workouts for your readers. Rock on sister!

  48. Jules on June 7, 2010 at 5:55 pm

I think a fitnessista is like a Renaissance woman — able to explore and enjoy all kinds of workouts, activites, and foods with dedication, enthusiasm, and curiosity.

I’d like to see more raw dessert recipes, because j’adore dessert ๐Ÿ™‚

  49. Lexie on June 7, 2010 at 5:56 pm

A fitnessista is someone who loves treating her body the best she can through fitness as well as nutrition! She is always trying to become better mentally, physically, and emotionally and has fun while doing it…and it others are inspired because of her it is just icing on the cake ๐Ÿ™‚

  50. Michelle on June 7, 2010 at 5:57 pm

Entry 1: I think a fitnessista is one who is conscious of her fitness which includes physical activity and diet. Like a fashionista who cares about their style, a fitnessista cares about their overall health. I think so many of us our fitnessistas but never knew it until your fab blog! thanks
