Blogiversary Giveaway

Hey guys! Thank you so much for the wonderful blogiversary wishes <3 You all make this such an awesome environment with your positive energy, comments and discussions <3 <3 <3 I have so much love, appreciation and respect for all of you.

This morning, after eating my blogiversary macaroon, I had a chocolate cherry bomb.

choc cherry

I thought the day might come when I would get sick of these things.. but it hasnโ€™t happened yet. Itโ€™s too delicious for words ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cool news: Open Sky added the Glass Dharma straws to my store, just for me ๐Ÿ™‚ They know how much I love these straws and since many of you ask where I purchased them โ€“theyโ€™ve been a fave since last fall!- I figured it would be a great addition if any of yaโ€™ll are in the market for some.

Next, I took the puppers to the dog park for an hour to meet my friend Lauren and her two dogs, a beagle and chihuahua. The chihuahuaโ€™s name is Bosco, and he and Bella are deeply in love. They gazed into each otherโ€™s puppy eyes and I kept Viesa on the leash to abstain from eating the chihuahua out of jealousy.

She was a good girl, though ๐Ÿ™‚

Some of todayโ€™s eats:

vega

Vega Smoothie To-Go after my weight training sesh.

banana

Banana with almond butter and cinnamon + chai tea

And a wrap using this horseradish mustard that reader Teresa sent to me:

My nose was burning the entire time. I loved it ๐Ÿ™‚

wrap

So Iโ€™ve been promising yaโ€™ll a blogiversary giveaway and thought it would be fun to give away packages that I put together myself ๐Ÿ˜€

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s going to be in there:

cookietaste

Fun goodies (Iโ€™ll ask the winners what kind of food and workouts they enjoy, and the package will include stuff like almond butter, bars, yoga gear, a workout or foodie shirt, stuff like that)

I think a fitnessista is someone who lives their life with being “fit” in mind. I mean both physically fit and emotionally fit, since they both go hand in hand.

  2. Paige (Running Around Normal) on June 7, 2010 at 5:57 pm

Haha you’re awesome, Gina! Love the giveaway loot! And I’ve been DYING to try the macaroons. I swwooon for them.
A fitnessista means to me, a girl who’s a confident, active, savvy chic striving to live a healthy life!

  3. Sara on June 7, 2010 at 5:59 pm

A Fitnessista is a person who enjoys being healthy and taking care of their body everyday.
I would love to see a baby Fitnessista in the next year on the blog (if the timing is right.)

  4. Meg on June 7, 2010 at 5:59 pm

A Fitnessista is a strong, beautiful woman (inside and out!) with a passion for living a healthy, long and happy life surrounded by family + friends (fur and skin alike!) ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Smith on June 7, 2010 at 6:00 pm

To me, a fitnessista is someone who is guided through life by being fit, active, and healthy, but is also able to find a balance with all the other aspects of life as well (i.e., able to induldge in a piece of chocolate, a glass of wine, or skip a workout when the occasion calls for it). Love, love, love your blog. I would love to see some more of your music choices for different activities. I’m always looking for new, hardcore music to run or cycle too!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Fitnessista to me means living your life and being physically and mentally fit with some serious flare!

I love this blog because it has taught me so much about living life more healthfully, I hope to see some more simple 1-2 servings nommy snack recipes!

  9. Jennifer W. on June 7, 2010 at 6:02 pm

I have to laugh every time I think about “Fitnessista” because until that memorable post by Tom where he explained it is “eesta” not “sista” I was thinking of all us fitness-minded women as SISTERS! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Ha! I guess it is still true, though, no matter how you pronounce it – you have inspired to me to be the best I can be with fitness and health goals, as well as attitude, etc… even though I am old enough to be your FitnessMOM!

  10. Leigh on June 7, 2010 at 6:03 pm

‘Fitnesista’ to me means some one who is fit and strong. Lives a healthy balanced life style.

  15. Yolande on June 7, 2010 at 6:11 pm

This give a way is AWESOME! ๐Ÿ™‚ I attemped the macaroons at home, they were ok, but probably not NEARLY as good as yours.

A fitnessista to me is somebody that puts health and well being on par with friendship and spreading positivity and sharing health secrets and knowledge with others. Someone that is as eager to seak new knowledge for health and well being as they are to give it to others to enrich their lives also, and most importantly, be willing to help others without attaching a price tag to it.

  16. Lindsey on June 7, 2010 at 6:12 pm

a fitnessista is a strong girl that treats her body right!

  18. Chantal on June 7, 2010 at 6:14 pm

I guess I’ll answer both questions ๐Ÿ™‚ Obviously, I think you’re an awesome example of a Fitnessista: someone who can balance it all, who is healthy, vibrant, positive, and beautiful inside and out, who lives and eats clean, and is passionate about their lifestyle choices enough to share it with everyone else so they can transform themselves too.

About what I’d like to see for the year ahead? I think my fav thing has been your summer shape-ups. I get so bored of coming up with my own workouts, yours have been such a life saver! Happy Blogiversary ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. Kady on June 7, 2010 at 6:16 pm

Happy 2 years!! I would love to see you continue posting workouts next year. All my strength training workouts the past few months have been from you! I look through old shape-ups and pick out workouts I want to do. You are making me buff!

A “fitnessista” sounds like someone who makes fitness/health a priority in their life in a fun, classy way.

  20. Andrea on June 7, 2010 at 6:17 pm

A fitnessista to me is someone who has a healthy approach to working fitness into their everyday lives, has fun doing it (usually, lol) and has some muscles and is proud of em’!

for the blog in the next yr, would love to see you keep doing what you’re doing and would LOVE to see some baby news! am I the only one who gets excited when I see the word baby on your blog and then realize you’re often talking about a food babe and not yet a real baby?!? haha

  24. Autumn Tao on June 7, 2010 at 6:18 pm

Happy Anniversary. Thanks for all the inspiration! I would love to see more healthy vegan eats and recipes. I am 100% vegan and am always on the prowl for good eats.

    Thanks!!

  25. Jeanine on June 7, 2010 at 6:20 pm

To me, fitnessista means finding out what works for your body and doing that. When I started reading food blogs about a year ago I felt so much pressure to eat a certain way and exercise a certain way- now I’ve realized that listening to what my body needs is the best gift I can give myself. Sometimes that means animal protein, sometimes it means eating raw- it just depends on the day! I’m so thankful to you, G, for opening my eyes to awesome products and eats I wouldn’t have thought of before and also for encouraging your readers to act in a way that fits into their lives. Fitnessistas are fun and active and intuned with their needs!

  26. Hannah on June 7, 2010 at 6:20 pm

HI Gina, thank you for the great giveaway! I would like to see a more extensive recipes. A lot of your meals look so good even if they may not have required specific “recipes” for you to cook them. Basically, I’d be able to look at pictures of everything you ever eat to get ideas for meals!
Happy blogoversary! P.S. I have been doing your summer shape-up workouts and really enjoying them.

  27. Ann on June 7, 2010 at 6:21 pm

I’ve been a dedicated reader for some time but this is my first time leaving a commment! I couldn’t pass up on trying to get these delish goodies! I would loove to see more recipes in your fitnessista cookbook and maybe more workout ideas that don’t involve having to use as much equipment. Happy Anniversary!!

  28. Candi on June 7, 2010 at 6:23 pm

I really like and would love to see more posts about your favorite things and go-to’s…kitchen staples, beauty prodcts, cleaning items, go-to recipes, etc.

  29. Danielle W on June 7, 2010 at 6:23 pm

To me, a ‘fitnessista’ is someone who is in tune with their body as well as someone who tries to spread fitness to others.

  30. Gina on June 7, 2010 at 6:26 pm

To me, a fitnessista exercises and eats well because she enjoys it, and never feels pressured to stick to a diet or exercise plan that she isn’t happy with. Being healthy isn’t a chore for her, but comes naturally and with style! Fitnessistas are basically fabulous =D

  31. Jill on June 7, 2010 at 6:26 pm

What a great giveaway! I love your blog – Next year I would love to see more recipes w/ pictures. Being a Fitnessista to me is making healthy choices 90% of the time with 10% of the time being “bad”. I try and work out 5-6x a week and make healthy choices with my meals – organic, sometimes raw, fresh, processed-food-free, and delicious!

  32. Mary on June 7, 2010 at 6:27 pm

A fitnessista is someone who loves life and her body

  33. fran hlavacek on June 7, 2010 at 6:31 pm

This is a great opportunity to thank you, Gina!

To me the Fitnessista is a great resource for food ideas, fitness inspiration and knowing someone else out there has a “thing” for almond butter and goat cheese. Not together of course….
    ๐Ÿ™‚
    Peace, and congratulations,
    fran

  34. Jamie on June 7, 2010 at 6:31 pm

    AWESOME giveaway!
I think you represent what a true Fitnessista is! DUH
I think that itโ€™s the perfect balance of living a healthy lifestyle through enjoying exercise and how it makes you feel and a healthy/creative diet. Along with eating healthy and working out regularly, you can still live your life and splurge here or there.
Don’t deprive yourself of the things you love. Everything in moderation.. Such as VINO and CHOCLATE =) We are all happier when we can have what we love.

  35. Julie on June 7, 2010 at 6:31 pm

What I would love to see on this blog is how you keep your motivation up. More recipes like Jil said would be fantastic, too.

Being a Fitnessista is someone who makes wise food decisions not because it’s the “cool” thing to do but because she wants to feel as good on the inside as she does on the outside. It’s a lifestyle change and and I can see a fellow fitnessista encouraging other ladies to do the same.

  36. Kelly F. on June 7, 2010 at 6:32 pm

Yowza, what a great giveaway! To me, a Fitnessista is a woman who is passionate about her health-physically, spiritually, and emotionally. She nourishes her body, mind, soul, and glow!

  40. eredblue on June 7, 2010 at 6:33 pm

I would like to see even more recipes!!! Maybe some ‘in the kitchen with tom and gina’ videos as a little pre-food network show show ?

I would like the see the news that you’re going to have your own cooking show! Better yet, “Shopping with the Fitnessista” where you take us around to the grocery store (or Sephora ;)) and make commentary kind of like Curtis the cute Australian does. Except you wouldn’t have to go home with any fellow customers and cook them dinner unless you wanted to. Although that could be actually pretty cool…I’ve got so many ideas!

  41. Danielle J on June 7, 2010 at 6:34 pm

    You are an inspiration!

  45. Joanna on June 7, 2010 at 6:35 pm

Happy 2 years!! I’ve only been a subscriber for a few months, but I love reading each day.

Over the next year, I’d love to see some more tips for beginners (i.e. people who are new to the clean eating scene and new to working out regularly). It is a big adjustment (but so worth it), and any advice and encouragement goes a long way.

    Thanks for everything you do!

  46. sals on June 7, 2010 at 6:38 pm

I love your blog and would like to continue to see your creative vegan recipes! Happy blogiversary =)

  47. Krystina on June 7, 2010 at 6:39 pm

To me, a fitnessista is someone who is in tune with her mind, body, and soul. She takes care of her body through proper nutrition and exercise but also listens to what her body and mind want and need. She is strict with her daily food/workout regimen, but also knows how to let go and have fun and live life. ๐Ÿ™‚
