Both sides of the spectrum (+ a giveaway!)- ENDED!
My oven has seen both sides of the spectrum today.
When I was home for my lunch break, my brothers were here hanging out with the Pilot and Oliv, and Kyle asked me if I’d help him make something for a Bacon Party he was headed to tonight with Meg. (For anyone lacking theme ideas for a holiday party, you’re welcome. Haha) Kyle always helps me with random errands/tragedies/life, so I knew I could help a bro out. The thing is, I don’t really speak bacon.
I like the turkey variety ok, but it’s just not really my thing. He knew he wanted to make something sweet, so I knew just where to go. I typed “bacon cookie” into the search bar and whaddaya know? Bacon cookies.. with peanut butter.
Thank you to Jessica for sponsoring 90% of our holiday desserts thus far 😉
(We doubled the recipe- that was about 1/3 of the final amount)
We made the bacon cookies, with incoherent stammering and victory dance moves from the happy guys “taste-testing” the candied bacon along the way. Word on the street is those cookies will rock your world (Kyle tried to peer pressure me into tasting one, but I opted out. They smelled divine, though.)
After Meg and Kyle headed to the party, I made some dinner using farm box ingredients that I didn’t want to go bad.
Butternut squash rounds with tomato goat cheese and roasted garlic-balsamic chicken.
Not.too.shabby.
We still haven’t Christmasified anything, but our neighbors are already on it! I’ll never forget the Pilot peering through the garage and swearing when he found out we moved onto Christmas Lane. Bring on the 10 ft inflatable snowman.
I hope you’re all enjoying the weekend so far! It’s been a beautiful and relaxing one.
Long run in the morning and then there are some crepes with our names on them….
Have a great night!
xoxo
Gina
Giveaway time! My PR friend at Canyon Ranch asked me if I’d like to give away two Canyon Ranch workout DVDs: “Strong and Sculpted”
(three 20-minute segments: yoga, strength and core, bonus segments on bone strengthening and protection, muscle building and foods to reduce inflammation)
and “Yoga for Strength and Energy” (two 20-minute yoga flows, a cool down and bonus features, including eating and sleeping for energy, healthy lifestyle changes).
The DVDs will be amazing additions to a quick and effective at-home workout routine, and here’s the kicker: you know those gluten-free chocolate chip cookies I’m obsessed with? I asked if they’d throw in a batch for the winner and the chef said yes 😉
This giveaway has ended as of midnight EST 11/26!
Thank you so much to everyone for entering and congrats to the lucky winner (chosen via random number generator: page 1, comment 37)
Sam, who said:
I’d love to win because I need to start working out at home- I’m a med student and life is just too crazy to make it to fitness classes often enough! My major goal would be to wake up early and get my workout done before class, but this night owl does not like 6am!
Congrats, Sam!! Send me your info (fitnessista at gmail dot com) and I’ll forward it along to the Canyon Ranch fairy 🙂
Stay tuned for more amazing giveaways! xoxo
I would love to win because I’m a huge fan of at home workout videos for when I don’t feel like heading to the gym!
I would love to win because I love at home workouts and strength training and yoga are two of my faves! I’ve definitely been trying to fit in more time for yoga lately. I’ve been especially inspired by Namaste November, great motivator! I’d also love to try the cookies, I’ve notice in the last year or so that my body has become rather intolerant of gluten, so I’ll try anything that won’t upset my stomach! Great giveaway! Love your blog!
I’d love to win because winning is awesome! And so is yoga! And so is gluten free cookies!
I’m coming off of a very busy period where fitness took a back seat and know I need to step it up to feel better in my own skin! Plus I think I need to break up with my gym and find more fitness to do at home. A new DVD would certainly help. Bacon cookies? Not even going there! Bet they’re good though!
Awesome giveaway! I would love to win because I am always looking for new at home workouts. I also have never done yoga, and would like to try it in the privacy of my own home before venturing to a studio. And, who doesn’t love cookies? 🙂
I’d love to win this for many reasons! One is because my mom has many illnesses (Chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia) and I would love to share the DVDs and the cookies with her (she can only eat gluten free sweets). She has to be careful with exercise because of her sensitivity to pain and exertion so her doctor has suggested she try yoga. I’ve been on the look-out for a good yoga DVD ever since.
I would love to win because I haven’t gotten a new exercise video in a long time and yoga would be a great addition. Would love to try something new.

I love home workout videos – especially since my new apartment is on the bottom floor and I don’t have to worry about neighbors below!
I’d love to win because I’m a runner, but I often forget about the importance of flexibility and core strength. I think it would really help my running to do videos like this!
I’d love to win and give these workouts a try! After all the food I ate this past week I could use a good workout video.
I’d love to win because I enjoy switching up my workouts. Also, I’m studying abroad next semester and won’t have access to a gym, so this would be perfect for staying fit abroad.
I want to win because DVDs make it easy to squeeze in a workout on busy days! And gluten-free chocolate chip cookies are tasty!
I woud love to win this because I easily get bored with the same old workouts. I’m a momma of 2 and don’t always get a chance to make it to the gym, so a naptime workout is a must at times! And I think I need those cookies… Ya know, for a refueler after the workout 🙂
Hi Gina! I’d love to win because I’ve been adding more at home workouts to my routine and love following your monthly workouts and HITT sessions. Being a fitness instructor myself, I like to switch up my workouts so my body doesn’t plateau and at home sessions have been a great way to do this and challenge myself in a different way!!
I would LOVE to win this! Home workout videos and gluten-free goodies is the giveaway for me! Twenty-minute segments work perfectly in my busy schedule. Thanks for an awesome giveaway!!

I would love to win because I am always looking for ways to strengthen my core. I have been told by a physical therapist that the main reason for my back pain is a weak core- so I always looks for ways to gently strengthen my core without hurting my back.

I’d like to win so I have some more yoga (and chocolate chips) in my life- I don’t do yoga enough, but if I had the option to do it at home- I’d be more likely to include it in my fitness routine!
I would love to win because we recently had to drop our gym membership and I’m getting bored of all my current DVDs!
I’d love to win this giveaway because I enjoy trying new workout videos (my collection is growing and growing!) and of course who doesn’t love cookies 😉
I would love to win the DVDs because it’s so nice having them as a backup workout for days I just can’t make it to the gym…gotta love a home workout!
It’s getting a little too cold and dark for outdoor workouts after work. I could really use a new at home workout to try. Annnnd the cookies look yummy 🙂
I don’t know how I feel about bacon cookies, but I wouldn’t have been able to resist trying one! You have some serious willpower!
I’d like to win those DVDs because I’ve been trying to incorporate strength training, esp. for my core, into my exercise routine. I’m training for a half-marathon (first one this weekend– if I can get over this flu in time– with another in January to try and improve) and I think improving my overall strength could really help my running.
I’d love to win so I can get back on track after indulging a bit too much on Thanksgiving, and on the leftovers. It would be great to incorporate some yoga into my week since my stress levels seem to be increasing, and my patience is decreasing; I could really use some help with hitting the reset button occasionally.
I’ve really been wanting to do some beginner stretches but can’t find a beginner class on my town. I’ve downloaded some images but would love a dvd…I really enjoy your blog!!
I travel alot of work, so having these yoga DVDs with me would help keep me on track with my yoga. I’ve slacked a little the past few months, so being able to catch up before the holidays would help me power through til the new year!
I would LURVE to win because I am a Canadian runner (completed my first half marathon this summer!) and it has become a bit too chilly and dark when I get home in the evenings, and being a student…I am forced to use super short yoga routines that I can find online. A full DVD would be Christmas come early! Aaaand the cookies would be my motivation to stay active 😉
I would love to win this!! I’ve recently gotten more into working out at home and I’m constantly looking for new workout ideas.
I would love to win. I need to change up my routine and this would be a big help. Seem to have hit a wall and need to get motivated again.
I am really needing a change in workouts. More of “making the most of my workout” and doing something different besides cardio. This looks perfect!
I could say that I want to win because of all the goodness that the yoga videos will bring to my life, but let’s be honest…I want the cookies.
I’d like to just try those cookies;-) I guess I could workout before or after…

I don’t belong to a gym right now so I am always looking for new DVDs to try! 🙂
I’d love to win the DVD. I’m looking for more at-home fitness options for once Insanity is over… preferably something less intense (at least for a couple weeks!).
Thanks for the giveaway.
