Both sides of the spectrum (+ a giveaway!)- ENDED!

My oven has seen both sides of the spectrum today.ย

Tomatoes

When I was home for my lunch break, my brothers were here hanging out with the Pilot and Oliv, and Kyle asked me if I’d help him make something for a Bacon Party he was headed to tonight with Meg. (For anyone lacking theme ideas for a holiday party, you’re welcome. Haha) Kyle always helps me with random errands/tragedies/life, so I knew I could help a bro out. The thing is, I don’t really speak bacon.

Bacon cookies

I like the turkey variety ok, but it’s just not really my thing. He knew he wanted to make something sweet, so I knew just where to go. I typed “bacon cookie” into the search bar and whaddaya know? Bacon cookies.. with peanut butter.ย

Bacon cookies 2

Thank you to Jessica for sponsoring 90% of our holiday desserts thus far ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bacon cookies 3

(We doubled the recipe- that was about 1/3 of the final amount)

We made the bacon cookies, with incoherent stammering and victory dance moves from the happy guys “taste-testing” the candied bacon along the way. Word on the street is those cookies will rock your world (Kyle tried to peer pressure me into tasting one, but I opted out. They smelled divine, though.)

After Meg and Kyle headed to the party, I made some dinner using farm box ingredients that I didn’t want to go bad.

Butternut squash rounds with tomatoย goat cheeseย and roasted garlic-balsamic chicken.

Not.too.shabby.

We still haven’t Christmasified anything, but our neighbors are already on it! I’ll never forget the Pilot peering through the garage and swearing when he found out we moved onto Christmas Lane. Bring on the 10 ft inflatable snowman.

I hope you’re all enjoying the weekend so far! It’s been a beautiful and relaxing one.

Me and bell 2

Long run in the morning and then there are some crepes with our names on themโ€ฆ.

Have a great night!

xoxo

The DVDs will be amazing additions to a quick and effective at-home workout routine, and here’s the kicker: you know those gluten-free chocolate chip cookies I’m obsessed with? I asked if they’d throw in a batch for the winner and the chef said yes ๐Ÿ˜‰

Iโ€™d love to win because I need to start working out at home- Iโ€™m a med student and life is just too crazy to make it to fitness classes often enough! My major goal would be to wake up early and get my workout done before class, but this night owl does not like 6am!

Congrats, Sam!! Send me your info (fitnessista at gmail dot com) and I’ll forward it along to the Canyon Ranch fairy ๐Ÿ™‚

Bacon cookies? My hubby sure would be happy if I made these… too bad I’m a vegetarian haha!

I’d love to win the DVDs because I am in need of a new workout DVD. The ones I have aren’t doing it for me as much lately. Plus, I could use some more yoga in my life! (Who couldn’t?!) I used to practice at a studio and LOVED it, but I had to stop since it’s a little pricey. These DVDs would be great to get back into it!

  2. Meredith on November 25, 2012 at 8:40 am

Those DVDs look awesome! I don’t have any workout DVDs to use at home on rainy (or snowy) days… so these would be great!

  36. Kyra on November 25, 2012 at 9:17 am

I’m always looking for new workout DVD’s to add to my tiny rotation of 30 day shred and tone it up. Plus, now that we’ve had our first snow (in Michigan) i think it’s probably a good idea to have some more at home options.

  37. Natalie on November 25, 2012 at 9:17 am

I would love these DVDs because with a three month old at home it is hard I find time to get to the gym!

  38. Rose on November 25, 2012 at 9:17 am

  43. Abby A on November 25, 2012 at 9:23 am

I want to win because I need to bring some new stuff into my workout routine, and I have gluten sensitivity- and have yet to find a cookie I love! Maybe this is destiny…lol

    Great for newly pregnant moms!

  45. Karlee on November 25, 2012 at 9:28 am

I’d love to win! I was just thinking I NEED some yoga in my life. We just bought a house, I’m starting a new job in 2 weeks, and I’m getting married in May! I’m pretty much a ball of stress right now : )

  46. kyla on November 25, 2012 at 9:30 am

Yoga is something that I love doing, but it’s not in my life nearly enough. These DVDS would be a great way to incorporate it into my fitness routine!

  47. Jessie on November 25, 2012 at 9:30 am

I would love a workout DVD to use when I can’t get to the gym. Plus I’d love to see an example of some of the workouts available at Canyon Ranch. Sounds like an amazing place! Also, those cookies look delicious!!

  48. Heidi Switzer on November 25, 2012 at 9:34 am

When I get busy and stressed with school and don’t have time to go to the gym, it’s nice to have dvds that I can just pop in and get in a short workout. Helps relieve stress and give my brain a break!
Also, no complaints on having some cookies : )

  49. Danielle on November 25, 2012 at 9:34 am

I would love to win! This is perfect timing for me. I just found out that I have a third stress
Fracture from running. I’m addicted to running, but now am forced to take a 9 week break. I’ve been thinking of trying yoga in the mean time as a low impact or no impact alternative.

  50. Cara on November 25, 2012 at 9:34 am

I had surgery on Monday and have six weeks before I am allowed to work out again! Hoping my doctor will let me at least start doing some light yoga again before the six weeks are up.
