Both sides of the spectrum (+ a giveaway!)- ENDED!

My oven has seen both sides of the spectrum today.ย

Tomatoes

When I was home for my lunch break, my brothers were here hanging out with the Pilot and Oliv, and Kyle asked me if I’d help him make something for a Bacon Party he was headed to tonight with Meg. (For anyone lacking theme ideas for a holiday party, you’re welcome. Haha) Kyle always helps me with random errands/tragedies/life, so I knew I could help a bro out. The thing is, I don’t really speak bacon.

Bacon cookies

I like the turkey variety ok, but it’s just not really my thing. He knew he wanted to make something sweet, so I knew just where to go. I typed “bacon cookie” into the search bar and whaddaya know? Bacon cookies.. with peanut butter.ย

Bacon cookies 2

Thank you to Jessica for sponsoring 90% of our holiday desserts thus far ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bacon cookies 3

(We doubled the recipe- that was about 1/3 of the final amount)

We made the bacon cookies, with incoherent stammering and victory dance moves from the happy guys “taste-testing” the candied bacon along the way. Word on the street is those cookies will rock your world (Kyle tried to peer pressure me into tasting one, but I opted out. They smelled divine, though.)

After Meg and Kyle headed to the party, I made some dinner using farm box ingredients that I didn’t want to go bad.

Butternut squash rounds with tomatoย goat cheeseย and roasted garlic-balsamic chicken.

Not.too.shabby.

We still haven’t Christmasified anything, but our neighbors are already on it! I’ll never forget the Pilot peering through the garage and swearing when he found out we moved onto Christmas Lane. Bring on the 10 ft inflatable snowman.

I hope you’re all enjoying the weekend so far! It’s been a beautiful and relaxing one.

Me and bell 2

Long run in the morning and then there are some crepes with our names on themโ€ฆ.

Have a great night!

xoxo

Giveaway time!ย My PR friend at Canyon Ranch asked me if I’d like to give away two Canyon Ranch workout DVDs: “Strong and Sculpted”

The DVDs will be amazing additions to a quick and effective at-home workout routine, and here’s the kicker: you know those gluten-free chocolate chip cookies I’m obsessed with? I asked if they’d throw in a batch for the winner and the chef said yes ๐Ÿ˜‰

Iโ€™d love to win because I need to start working out at home- Iโ€™m a med student and life is just too crazy to make it to fitness classes often enough! My major goal would be to wake up early and get my workout done before class, but this night owl does not like 6am!

Congrats, Sam!! Send me your info (fitnessista at gmail dot com) and I’ll forward it along to the Canyon Ranch fairy ๐Ÿ™‚

I would LOVE that yoga for strength and energy DVD. I am absolutely loving the namaste November challenge and I got super lucky with an intro price of $40 for a month if yoga classes, but I know regular trips to the yoga studio won’t be in our budget. My plans are to make myself a happy yoga place in our spare room and get my bliss on at home! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m always looking for fun new fitness DVDs! These look so great!

  3. Vicki on November 25, 2012 at 10:48 am

Those DVDs look great – I could definitely use one of them. I am always looking for new ways to switch up my workouts, and these look like they would be just the thing. Also, I’ll be starting a full-time job in the new year, and could probably use an alternative for when I’m not able to make it to the gym.

  4. Jen on November 25, 2012 at 10:48 am

I have crohn’s so these would be great on my sick days that I’m unable to make it to the gym. Also the inflammation reducing foods will be good since this diease is all about inflammation, and who doesn’t love cookies!

Hi! I love reading your blog and it has inspired me in so many ways! I live in a rural area and we get hit with tons of snow.. like yesterday! It makes driving to the next state and my gym difficult at times… this dvd would be wonderful for the times I am house bound and need to get a work out in! I love yoga!

  6. Kelly on November 25, 2012 at 10:52 am

Would love these DVDs since, as of today, we’re entering “hibernation” season. The first snow is on the ground (and it’s beautiful) but COLD. At home workout options are a must for me once the temps fall below freezing. And chocolate chip cookies? The perfect food. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Christina on November 25, 2012 at 11:01 am

I’d love to win, because I’m moving into a new flat in TWO weeks. I’m finally gonna be able to have a free corner for a yoga practice space, which I’m really looking forward to decorating already. And these DVDs would just be perfekt to start a new Yoga flow DVD connection.

  14. Julie on November 25, 2012 at 11:02 am

I practice yoga at home to balance out strength and cardio and am in need of a good, reliable yoga video.

Plus, I have a newfound love for cookies!

  15. Stephanie on November 25, 2012 at 11:04 am

I would love these DVDs – I’m pregnant and I know that I won’t be making it to the gym much after having the baby since we don’t have anyone nearby who would watch the baby for me. So I’m trying to find some good DVDs for the get back in shape mission!

Until then I would of course enjoy the cookies!

  16. Brooke on November 25, 2012 at 11:06 am

Chocolate chip cookies!? mmm yes please !! The below zero canadian temperatures are upon us..so any at home workouts are very welcomed!!!

Oh man ive been dying for some more yoga in my life!

  18. Ashley Marchant on November 25, 2012 at 11:11 am

Gotta love a good workout video, I am a nurse and work long hours so my go to workouts on days I work are 15-20min workout videos that I can rock out in my living room. (My current fave is the TurboFire 15 HIIT fast and fun)!

  19. Lisa on November 25, 2012 at 11:13 am

I would love to win the yoga dvd. I’m a runner and have always wanted to try yoga, an at home dvd would be a great way to give it a try!

  26. Alexandra on November 25, 2012 at 11:19 am

  27. Kelsey Y. on November 25, 2012 at 11:21 am

I love my workout DVDs with Jillian and Bob, but I’m ALWAYS looking for new ones! Being a college student, sometimes the easiest way to burn calories and get a workout in is to pop in a DVD… and I’m ALWAYS up for a good cookie!

  28. Catherine Crain on November 25, 2012 at 11:21 am

I’d love to win because this cold weather is really cramping my outdoor workout style! I need indoor ideas!

  29. Kristen on November 25, 2012 at 11:22 am

Ohhh I would love to win… need some new fitness dvd’s to get me motivated to do at home work outs again!!

  30. Joelle (on a pink typewriter) on November 25, 2012 at 11:23 am

Canyon Ranch just sounds pretty fantastic, if you ask me! I’d love to check out these DVDs (plus cookies – always, obvi).

Bacon cookies freak me out too haha although I know mannnnny people think they’re the best idea.

  31. China on November 25, 2012 at 11:26 am

I’m a certified yoga instructor, but my practice has fallen apart over the past two years. I was diagnosed with autoimmune disorders that not only leave me exhausted, but make it very challenging for me to eat gluten and soy (and I’m a vegetarian). I’m trying to get my health back on track, and these DVDs would be a perfect springboard. Plus, the gluten-free cookies are a treat I could actually eat!

  32. Helen on November 25, 2012 at 11:28 am

I’ve always been intimidated by yoga so it’d be nice to practice at home

  33. Emily on November 25, 2012 at 11:28 am

I really don’t like the gym, so I would love to give the at home workouts a try!

  34. katie P on November 25, 2012 at 11:28 am

    Hi Gina,
I’d love to win the DVD’s and the cookies! I love working out at home, right now I have p90x and a dance dvd. Those two dvd’s would be the perfect addition to my mix. I’ll keep my fingers crossed!!!

  35. Allison on November 25, 2012 at 11:30 am

I am in the market for new fitness DVDs! I am really trying to be productive when my 14 month old naps….these would be perfect! And the cookies would be appreciated too ๐Ÿ™‚

  36. Kim @ Raising The Barre on November 25, 2012 at 11:30 am

I’d love to try out those dvds because I like the idea of shorter segments. For some reason following a dvd for an hour can get a little redundant to me but 20 mins seems like it would fly by!

  37. Rachael H on November 25, 2012 at 11:35 am

Oh I would love to win – sounds amazing – I need to do something new to spice up my workouts!

  38. AnneW on November 25, 2012 at 11:35 am

I’d have such a blast trying these new DVDs with my besties over Christmas break ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. Jessica on November 25, 2012 at 11:37 am

I’d love to have a couple new workout DVD’s, especially living in rainy Oregon with a 4 month old, it would be great to not have to leave the house to workout. ๐Ÿ™‚

  40. Huda on November 25, 2012 at 11:40 am

I would love to be able to use those videos on days I cannot make it into the yoga studio, my town only recently opened a yoga studio. I have only been going for a week, but this would be great to use at the same time! Love!

  41. Alex Ballantyne on November 25, 2012 at 11:40 am

Those fitness DVDs look fantastic! ANd those cookies… nom nom nom

  42. Maggie on November 25, 2012 at 11:44 am

I’m always looking for new workouts to do at home – those look great!

  43. Courtney O on November 25, 2012 at 11:45 am

Would love the DVDs! I travel 4 days a week and therefore can’t justify the cost of a gym membership in NYC! Lots of my workouts are at home lately

  44. Christina D on November 25, 2012 at 11:46 am

I’d want to win because those gluten free cookies look amazing! And I could always use a little more yoga in my life, sometimes my yogadownload podcasts get a little old.

Those bacon cookies look amazing! Not my thing but I know several men in my family who would flip over those ๐Ÿ™‚

  45. Meggan on November 25, 2012 at 11:48 am

The DVDs & cookies look fabulous! I live in an area that snows a lot and even though I’ll brave the cold for runs 3 days a week, I’m looking for some more at-home workouts that will keep me interested and fit!

  46. Amanda on November 25, 2012 at 11:49 am

Awesome giveaway! I’d love to have some new short but effective routines to try out. My winter schedule between classes, work, and volunteering looks like it’ll be a doozy, so it’d be great to have some quick workouts to do at home.

  47. Miranda on November 25, 2012 at 11:50 am

I love yoga! It’s always fun when I do it, but I only have 1 DVD so it gets a little… repetitive haha ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d love some new ones!

  48. Dirtbag Darling on November 25, 2012 at 11:50 am

I’d love to win so when the snow hits on the East Coast, I can still heat things up INDOORS with these workout tapes (or hibernate with some cookies…)

  49. Rachel on November 25, 2012 at 11:54 am

I live and Canada and it is coooold right now! I would love to get my sweat on from my cozy house ๐Ÿ™‚ and not risk frost bite getting to the gym (I might be exaggerating a little) Also yoga + chocolate = 2 of my top 3 favorite things in the whole world!

Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚ p.s love your blog!

  50. Emily on November 25, 2012 at 11:55 am

I just cancelled my gym membership (too much $$), so I’d love to try some at-home DVDs!
