Ish just got real
Iโve been back at my momโs house for a little while, but after spending some time laying on the couch curled into a ball and a delicious lunch out with the fam, I can finally post.
Good news on all fronts:
Centimeters dilated: 2
% effaced: 80
Next appointment: Tuesday
Induction scheduled: Friday morning
So no matter what, by this time next week weโll be about to meet the little lady, and some other reassuring news was that
SHE FLIPPED.
No longer a little egg, baby is in OA- direct occiput anterior- position, which is the ideal position for her to pass through the pelvis. This is such a comfort to know that the things we did (chiropractor, blanket trick, warm bath method, laying on my left side, crawling around on all fours) may have actually helped. Iโm pretty sure I know the night she flipped- it was when I woke up and my belly looked like a cone. Sheโs engaged and ready to go!
Another thing that could possibly help move things along: I had my membranes stripped today.
[donโt read the rest if youโre feeling a little squeamish. Family page sometimes = TMI page]
It sounds terrible, and to be honest, it wasnโt a party.
She went to check me, and I think it made it worse because I was super nervous. After she was all up in my business โshe could touch the babyโs head- she said โyou are 2cm and 80% effaced. If you want to move things along, I could strip your membranes.โ I told her to go ahead even though I was anxious/nervous/scared, because I know that itโs worked for quite a few friends and would like to avoid induction if we can. So she rubbed around my cervix, 4 times in each direction, and while it didnโt hurt, it was definitely uncomfortable. It was a good lesson to really relax as much as I can when game day is here, because with Tom telling me to breathe and relax, the second part of it wasnโt quite as terrible. Still terrible though, donโt get me wrong.
Iโve felt pretty weird since the appointment, cramping up pretty badly (which is normal) and have no idea if itโs going to do the trick. The thing about stripping membranes is that it could cause me to go into labor within the next 24 hours, or nothing at all could happen.
If she isnโt here by this weekend, I get to go through the fun of it, but more vigorously, on Tuesday. The good news is that I know what to expect next time and after all of this, weโll finally get to meet her <3
So excited for you, good luck!!!!
Good luck!!! I love that picture too, probably because my birthday is May 6th ๐
Haha, that picture is awesome. If I ever have kids, I plan on making a whole line of those, one for every day of the week. Good luck, so excited for you!
Oh how exciting!! I can still remember the anticipation I felt waiting for my sons to arrive. I’m glad your little one flipped and is in position. My first son was breach and I ended up with a c-section for both but I’m glad they are both healthy so it worked out fine. ๐
Girl…I was 2 cm dilated and about 90% effaced at my 38w checkup. My doctor checked me and said if you want I can do a gentle stripping (I was soooo ready to meet her) and I said sure. This was about 3pm. Went to bed about 10pm and at midnight woke up and was in full on labor. Had her at 11am the next day. It went FAST! No interventions, 100% natural, and I know those are your wishes, too.
So…you could be *very close*. Everyone is different but I smell a baby…soon ๐
GOOD LUCK! and congrats on the flip!
me too, me too! ๐
My guess was she would be born on the 7th crossing my fingers for you and soo happy she flipped! So excited for you and the pilot, good luck
So excited for the next step in your lives! ๐
You are so close to meeting her! I bet you guys are so excited you can hardly stand it. Hope you’ll get more rest now that baby girl flipped!!
This is so so exciting! It’s so lovely that a) that the little one flipped b) you’ll get to meet her so soon, and c) she’ll have such a loving family to welcome her ๐ Congrats, Fitnessista Family <3
So happy about your news. The stripping thing never helped my pregnancies progress, both of mine just never wanted to come out. Had to be induced. Sounds like within the week you will finally get to meet your little one!
Yay! She flipped ๐ Prayers for all of you in the coming days & week!
eeee! That’s how I feel every day when I click open your blog these past couple weeks! It’s your last few days of pregnancy! It seems like just yesterday you were sharing the exciting news with us all. =)

So exciting! Wishing you the best of luck ๐
YAY!
Good news on all fronts! I’m so happy and excited for you and I don’t even know you! Ha! Can’t wait to meet your little one! Your life is about to change forever!
So happy she flipped!!!! And so exciting you will meet her by next Friday no matter what! What helped me through contractions was thinking of each one as a wave…just ride each one out. I love the water do it helped me and I was able to go all natural. You have amazing support, I cannot wait to read your “she is finally here” post!!!!!
One of the women I work with had her membranes stripped, and she gave birth less than 24 hr later. Good luck, can’t wait to meet the little lady!
Wow…what a miracle life really is! I’ve spent some time catching up on all your posts since the holidays and have appreciated your family posts so much. Hard to believe it could be so soon now! Praying for you and Tom in this nervous and exciting, joyful and new time!
Um I didn’t even know there was such a thing as stripping membranes. Why do people never tell you this?!
You are soooo having your baby this weekend!!! When I had my membranes stripped, I went in to labor about 8 hours later. Good luck!!!!
So excited to hear that she flipped! I can’t wait to hear how this week plays out ๐
I got mine stripped the day before my scehduled induction at 39 weeks (gest diabetes) and used my breastpump that night for like 15 min. First contraction at 6 am, holding baby girl 746 am, an hour before my induction time! So you may want to try out that new pump tonight!
Yay! I’d like to officially change my guess from the 8th to the 7th. ; )
AHHHHHHH I’m so excited!!!!!! I’m a little sad though, I love your pregnancy posts!
SO excited for you!!!! With my second I had my membranes “swept” and a pre-natal (my first) massage on the same day. Went into labor that night. Cannot wait to hear your good news!! Sending positive vibes your way. You are going to rock this!! xxoo
Ow.
Ow, ow, ow.
I should have stopped reading when you said stop reading.
BIG UPS to all the mamas and future mamas out there. Y’all are more WAY woman than I will ever be. Thinking about birthin’ babies makes me SQUICK OUT.
That said, I’m so happy for you! Go, go, G$!!
Whooo hoo!!!! She flipped!!!!! Your exactly where I was on my due date! Ish got reaaaal!!!!
I swear, everytime I see that you’ve posted my heart stops! lol. So excited!! ๐
Wow! Well you will have less walls and inhibitions about your body when this is all said and done, that must be why moms tend to be less squeemish about things over all. I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU THAT SHE FLIPPED!! My dear friend is facing the same predicament, and I hope the same good news happens for her soon too! Yay for everything!
I’m so excited for you two!!! I can’t wait to see her, and finally find out her name! Congrats =)
SO EXCITING!!!!!!!!! Good luck!!!
Stripping the membranes did it for me with baby#3. She did it that morning and baby boy woke me up next morning with strong contractions and I was holding him by noon.
But, I’m still going for the 9th (Monday), because it’s my daughter’s birthday. Have a great last weekend!
Hi Gina,
I had my membranes stripped also. After the appointment, I kept saying, “Man, she really did something to me today!” I was so crampy all day long. I ended up going into labor that night and delivered my baby girl at 3:00 the next afternoon. I didn’t find out my daughter was “sunny side up” until we went to the hospital that night. I’m glad she moved for you! Good luck with everything. It’s such an exciting time and nothing can describe the feeling you have when you hold your baby in your arms after 10 looong months. Savor every moment. It is so special.
Woohoo! So excited for you guys!
So excited for you! Your new journey is about to begin ๐
Great news! It sounds like it’s going to be soon for you ๐ My due date was exactly one year ago today. Cherish these next few hours or days. I love my son but I still miss my big preggo belly and the amazing feeling of him growing & moving in my belly. And enjoy every minute with your daughter it goes so fast.
I wrote to you before about my 1st daughter who was posterior. With my 2nd daughter I had my membranes stripped. And it worked! Good luck to you!
Yaaaaaaaaay she flipped! Fantastic news!
Uhhhhhhhhh yeah that appointment just sounds awful.
I’ve had two babies and each time I had my membranes swept and went into labor afterwards. Good luck!
I had mine stripped on Thursday and went into labor Saturday morning. The princess arrived sunday afternoon!!! Hope it does the trick!
Yay!! Good luck, I’ll be thinking of you and sending good vibes. Can’t wait to hear all about it! ๐
Gina!! For the past two weeks, every time I check the blog and you haven’t updated it yet, I’m like “OMG did she have the baby/!?!!” So excited for you and Tom! Thanks for being so open about everything and sharing your experience.
Just wanted to share that I ended up with an induction (thanks to premature rupture of the membranes) and labor went amazingly smoothly for me, so don’t freak yourself out that inductions=need for epi, etc. GL!
SO excited that she flipped!!!! That is such good news ๐
sending happy & healthy baby and mama energy your way! like you said, at least you know you’re going to meet the love of your life so so soon! i can’t imagine how exciting that is! we’re all jumping up and down cheering you on!
So exciting! I’m so happy that she has flipped and you (and the rest of us) are going to get to meet her soon! I know this sounds silly, but I sleep with my phone by my bed, and the last few nights when I’ve woken up during the night for water I’ve checked your page to see if there is a baby announcement! Thinking of you and wishing you all the best!
I delivered my daughter at 41 weeks and 2 days, and the day before at my appointment I had my membranes swept. So it worked for me. I had cramps all day after that and went into full blown labor that night. Good luck!
Oh my goooooodness! I am so excited for you – what a day! Sending positive energy and happiness your way all weekend and beyond. <3
Two days after I had my membranes stripped we met Ben! So excited for you!
