Little Teeth

Hi guys! How are you? Thing are pretty bueno over here. 😀

I just picked up the pups from getting their teefers cleaned. They didn’t need any teeth pulled and did great- the whole procedure took less than an hour for both of them, but they kept them at the vet’s office all day to keep an eye on them.

Bella is [rightfully] still pouting

bell

and Viesa hates her arm bandage.

vies

I’m about the snuggle with them on the couch until they feel a little better. Their chompers look beautiful and I know that it is a smart step for their health in the long run, but I still feel bad for making them get their teeth cleaned.

Afternoon snackage:

smoothie

Smoothie with:

-1 C frozen organic strawberries

-1.5 C homemade almond milk

-1 serving chocolate Vega smoothie to-go (an HLS freebie)

-1 t spirulina

-1 banana

-1 T hemp seeds

-a lil water and ice

It was pretty much perfect 🙂

After the squadron BBQ this afternoon, I hit up the base gym for a solo spin/Harry Potter reading sesh.

Before I knew it, I’d been on the spin bike for an hour! Harry Potter made the time fly by 😉 I’m determined to finish the 5th book and move on.

It’s a beautiful day in Valdizzy today.

IMG00314-20100827-1254

Cloudy and COOL- Fall is in the ayer 🙂

(I took that pic outside the base gym)

Perfect weather for a movie and drowsy puppy snuggling. The plan was to go out to dinner with the Pilot but since I want to keep an eye on the dogs, we may opt for an easy dinner or takeout (Indian??!!).

See ya in the morning!

xoxo,

Gina

Something to do: Keep those fall shoe ideas coming! I LOVE checking out all of the links ya’ll are suggesting. I <3 online shopping 😉

Something to talk about: Did you read the Harry Potter books?? Are you reading anything awesome right now?

I loveeeddd the Harry Potter books. I read them all when each of them came out, so it’s been awhile. I’m reading a quick read right now by Sophia Kinsella. I forget the name though 🙂 Glad the puppers are ok.

  3. Kim on August 27, 2010 at 5:30 pm

I have been putting off cleaning my dog’s teeth also because I didn’t want to put her under, glad it went well with your babies – will have to make that appointment!

  4. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on August 27, 2010 at 5:30 pm

I’m glad the puppers are okay!! I’m the queen of HP- probably my favorite book series of all time. They’re just so creative and fun!!

  5. Kate on August 27, 2010 at 5:42 pm

Hey Gina, I’m a vet student and not allowed to “advise,” but I really wanted to let you know that it’s rare for things to go wrong when dogs and cats have dentals. It’s also much nicer to the animal to have them sleep through the procedure… sometimes I wish WE had that option too!

I LOVE the HP books and read them all, although I think my faves are 1-3. Right now I’m reading all of Chelsea Handler’s books (she’s hilarious!) and I’m also working on Eat Pray Love.

    • Fitnessista on August 27, 2010 at 5:44 pm

thank you! the vet said that today too when i walked in there a worried stress ball 🙂 makes me feel better though!
i LOVE chelsea handlers books- my fave was “are you there vodka?”

  6. Bethany on August 27, 2010 at 5:44 pm

I loooove Harry Potter! The fifth book is my least favorite, but it’s worth getting through because the sixth book is AWESOME (my favorite in the series) and the seventh book is also really excellent. =) Right now I’m reading “Memoirs of a Geisha” and I am loving it so far. It’s really beautifully written.

    • Fitnessista on August 27, 2010 at 5:45 pm

omg, memoirs of a geisha is an incredible read. i might have to re-read that one

  7. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on August 27, 2010 at 5:52 pm

Never read Harry Potter… no desire to. You should read American Wife if you haven’t yet!

  8. The Hot and Fit on August 27, 2010 at 5:58 pm

It was my first favourite book (I started reading them when I was 10) and I absolutely love them. Even 12 years later I still find myself going back to them. I actually have JK Rowling to thank for since she actually made me love books.

  9. Mary @ Bites and Bliss on August 27, 2010 at 6:10 pm

Awwe cute puppies! Hope they feel better soon- nobody likes bandaids. 🙂

This is random but I noticed in your little “about me” under your photo that you’re a military wife. What branch is your husband in? Not that it really matters, I’m just curios lol. I dated a sailor for 4 years and vowed never to go into another military relationship again because (I thought) it ruined us. But now I’m in a new one..which happens to be another military one and am perfectly happy. So guess it all has to do with the guy! haha Sorry, it’s just awesome to find another military girlfriend/wife. 🙂

Awwww poor puppers! I’m glad that their procedures went well!
I read the last Harry Potter book after seeing all of the previous movies. I really enjoyed it!!

  11. kyla on August 27, 2010 at 6:15 pm

I’m a harry potter nerd. I even went to the midnight book release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows”. Those books define my childhood.

I’m just starting “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”.

  12. Felicia on August 27, 2010 at 6:15 pm

Seriously love all the harry potter books.. wait till you get to the 6&7th they are sooo goooooood (if you haven’t read them yet). enjoy 🙂

  13. holly @ couchpotatoathlete on August 27, 2010 at 6:21 pm

I haven’t read HP or seen the movies either. I’m just not interested! I have been reading the Sookie Stackhouse books — pure trash and I love every minute. 🙂

Your pics have been looking so good!

  14. Erin Hayes on August 27, 2010 at 6:39 pm

    awww those cute pups!!!!!
I’ve never read or seen a HP! I’ve reading Any Phyo’s Raw Food Essentials (a Fitnessista inspired read!) and Something Blue by Emily Griffin-pure chick-lit, but makes the subway commute fly!

    Have a great weekend G$ 🙂

  15. Chelsea @ Strawberry Sweat on August 27, 2010 at 6:54 pm

I’ve read all the Harry Potter books, and of course, I loved them! Now I am reading Eat Pray Love for the second time (I read it for the first time about 3 years ago).

  16. Pearl Lee on August 27, 2010 at 6:55 pm

aww! it’s always hard to push them to do something they don’t want to. the first night toby was home, i had to give him a bath in the sink and he completely freaked out. the poor thing was so scared and shaking and trying to climb out and run away and my heart was just breaking, knowing that he had to finish the bath, but also feeling so bad that he was scared and wanting to just stop it.

  17. LisaG on August 27, 2010 at 6:56 pm

I’ve not read HP books yet but have seen all movies & have all DVDs since the kids love it. My daughter has read all books and love them. Glad doggies are good.

  18. LisaG on August 27, 2010 at 6:58 pm

I’m reading The Power right now, sequel to The Secret. Good positive stuff.

  19. Molly @ MollyRunsFresh on August 27, 2010 at 7:16 pm

I have read all the Harry Potter books and they are so addicting! Right now all I am reading is my Advanced Psych book 🙁 SO much assigned reading!

  20. Vicky on August 27, 2010 at 7:22 pm

My oldest daughter read them all and then I read ALL of them TO our youngest daughter – so yes, I have read them!! #5 was the hardest to get through, but it’s worth it. Just finished “Castaways” by Elin Hildebrand – really good and wasn’t expecting it to be!

  21. Elise on August 27, 2010 at 7:35 pm

Awww! Poor little Bella! She looks so disheveled.

Have you read The Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love? You may be a tish young for the humor. I loved Memoirs of a Geisha as well.

  22. Chelsea on August 27, 2010 at 8:18 pm

Aww the puppies look so cute (and sad) with their bandages! I’m sure couch snuggling will make them feel better though..at least that is what I tell myself when my pups are hurting!

  23. April @ Crazy Fabulous Life on August 27, 2010 at 9:10 pm

I’ve seen the movies but I haven’t ever read a single sentence of one of those books!

    • Fitnessista on August 28, 2010 at 10:43 am

read the books!!! they’re even better than the movies:)

  24. Sarah on August 27, 2010 at 9:16 pm

I’m a HUGE fan of Harry Potter 🙂 The fifth is my favorite!

I just finished Eat Pray Love and am working on In Defense of Food. One of my favorite books is The Time Traveler’s Wife. I also love anything by Jodi Picoult.

    • Stehanie on August 27, 2010 at 9:38 pm

LOVE “In Defense of Food.” I maniacally suggest it to anyone in ear shot.

  25. Stehanie on August 27, 2010 at 9:37 pm

Oh my cat needs his teeth looked at. But the poor fellow has had it rough. I adopted him with FIV, herpes and only one eye. He also is missing some teeth and there is the possibility of him needing tooth extraction. I know it’s in his best interest but sometimes I look at the snuggly guy and think…”oh well hasn’t he had enough?” 😉

    • Fitnessista on August 28, 2010 at 10:42 am

      awww poor guy!!

  26. andrea on August 27, 2010 at 9:43 pm

I have read all of the Harry Potters! More than once actually. I’m reading “Born to Run” by Christopher McDougall right now and it’s pretty interesting, and I just recently read “Elsewhere” by Gabrielle Zevin. It’s a Young Adult book, but it was really good.

  28. Ananda on August 27, 2010 at 9:49 pm

I’m about halfway through Harry Potter book 4 right now… for some reason I dropped off after book 3 but a friend got me back into them. When I am all done with the series, my treat will be to start ordering the dvds from Netflix!

  29. SaraK on August 27, 2010 at 9:54 pm

I read all of the Harry Potter books! Love them. Am hoping to see the newest movie in Imax when it comes out…

  30. Whitney on August 27, 2010 at 10:01 pm

I really really really want to read the girl with the dragon tattoo, but I’m too cheap to buy it and the waiting list at the library is a mile long. So I’ll probably just continue reading the ACSM book I picked up at the library instead.

  31. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on August 27, 2010 at 10:21 pm

Be glad you’re taking care of their teeth, we didnt do the deep cleaning (being put to sleep) routine on our dogs for a few years and when we finally did, it was hell..both on our wallet and the poor doggie’s which was a lesson learned to just bite the bullet.

Enjoy your din-din at home, or out. And of course have a faboosh weekend with you honey!!!

    🙂

  32. Felicia on August 27, 2010 at 10:30 pm

Harry Potter is awesome! It’s so easy to get lost in those books!

  33. Mali on August 27, 2010 at 11:34 pm

I feel so bad for my little dog when I have to get her teeth clean but she’s a Yorkie and they (along with a lot of small breeds) are prone to the whole bad teeth thing so we do it every year.
I LOVED Harry Potter and was so sad when I finished the last book =( I just reread the whole series last year b/c it’s that good.
I love all of Jennifer Weiner and Sophie Kinsellas’ books and recently finished The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. Amazing.
Oh yeah and LOVED Twilight, don’t know if you’ve read it yet 😉

    • Fitnessista on August 28, 2010 at 10:41 am

yes i’m a little in love with edward 😉 the pilot understands, hahah

  34. Alissa on August 28, 2010 at 12:09 am

Read anything by Jennifer Cruise for a good laugh all the way through the book. My favorites by here at Bet Me and Faking it. If you need something to read to get you looking forward to moving to Orlando you should read the Kingdom Keepers Series by Riley Pearson. They are young adult but they are very vidid and you can easily close your eyes and see everything.

  35. LisaCazz on August 28, 2010 at 12:21 am

I read all the HP books, and I remember #5 being looong. I’m reading the 3rd book in the Hunger Games series. It’s so entertaining, and I love a fast read.

  36. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on August 28, 2010 at 12:43 am

  38. Cilla on August 28, 2010 at 4:32 am

I’ve read all of the HP books, multiple times 🙂 I’m busy reading Mockingjay, which is the final book in the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins.

HP is soooo gooood! I’m glad you seem to like them! I have a question about millet bread (sorry for the randomness of this…). In the grocery stores in my area, the only millet bread they carry is sweetened with fruit juice. Is this normal?! Or do the stores here just carry weird products or something? Thanks a bunch! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on August 28, 2010 at 10:38 am

yup, it’s sweetened with fruit juice! have you tried it yet??

      • Caryn on August 29, 2010 at 1:46 am

alrighty, good to know! I haven’t tried it yet, but i’ve been eyeing it up for awhile… next time i need bread i think i’ll get it. thanks!

  42. Katie on August 28, 2010 at 8:11 am

I wonder if dogs can feel their teeth are cleaned like we can? They look so cute!

I read the first four Harry Potter books and loved them! My favorites this summer were “The Help”, “Sarah’s Key”, and “The Daily Coyote”. I couldn’t put any of those down! I’m gonna jump on the wagon and start reading “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” this weekend!

    • Fitnessista on August 28, 2010 at 10:37 am

I have not read Harry Potter but I have read a lot of Christopher Pike from the world of YA. My all time favorite book series are Sujata Massey’s Rei Shimura mysteries. The books are primarily set in Japan, the main character is a feisty antiques dealer and the food descriptions are amazing- the character’s a pesca-tarian. Perfect lazy day reads.

I’m so excited for fall boots! I just moved and had literally an entire suitcase PACKED to the brim with shoes.. I’m not sure if I should be proud or concerned about that haha.. or that I want MORE boots now. 😉

  48. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on August 28, 2010 at 12:20 pm

Aww I hope the puppers are doing okay! 🙂

I loved the HP books! I was obsessed with them throughout my teen years. Right now I’m reading “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” and I’m learning sooo much from it!

  49. Liz @ Tip Top Shape on August 28, 2010 at 12:25 pm

Omg, I grew up with the Harry Potter books!! I was basically the same age as Harry in each book when I read them and it is definitely a big part of my childhood. I’ve reread all of them at least once and they are still some of my favorite books. Right now I am reading “Shadow of the Wind” by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and it is amazing. I love books set in Spain (as this is) and it is just creepy enough to be unsettling without keeping you up at night or anything. Definitely would recommend it!

  50. Chelsea Anthony on August 28, 2010 at 3:44 pm

Not too much of a Harry Potter fan, I know, I know, I’m weird. However, if you like those good easy reads that are great for just piling up with blankets on the couch or even sitting on the beach, Elin Hilderbrand is one of my favorite authors. I have a lot of her books and am getting ready to read another. Let me know if you’re interested; you can borrow the ones I have. All of her book are based in Nantucket; which is wear she resides.
    Have a great pre-move/organizing/Indian food weekend :).
