More fur baby drama

Morning! How about some raw donut holes with that cup of coffee or tea? πŸ˜‰

donuts

Sadly, those aren’t for me but are un-cooking away for a client πŸ™‚

This morning, I woke up bright and early for a weights sesh with Jeni and Ashley. We did an hour of core – all abs and back. It was pretty intense but a lot of fun because we chat a lot πŸ™‚

Before leaving the casa, I had a classic bfast cookie:

-1/2 C multigrain oats

-1/s scoop vanilla Sun Warrior

-cinnamon

-nutmeg

-vanilla

-1 T almond butter

-1 small smashed banana

-almond milk

-raisins

And a shot of Emergen-C:

A side of monkey dogs:

So as you guys know, I’ve had my fair share of dog drama in my life- remember when Viesa tried to eat Bella?

Well last night, I was training a client and started to feel like death. I got really anxious, my heart started palpitating like a mofo and I got really dizzy. I finished my appointment, but texted my next client to say I wasn’t feeling well and re-schedule so I could come home and chill for a second before the wives’ meeting. The original plan was to change at work and head straight to the wives’ meeting from there.  So instead, I changed my schedule and came home, feeling pretty miserable.

Then Viesa had a seizure and got sick.

It was no joke one of the most horrible things I’ve ever seen- I’m still pretty shaken up about it. The mind-boggling thing is that I wasn’t supposed to be here when it happened- I was supposed to still be at work. Isn’t it crazy how stuff like that happens?? Thank goodness I was home.

My friend Jeni raced over here when I called her crying –she lives in the neighborhood next to ours- and I spoke with one of the wives who is a vet. The vet said to keep an eye on her, comfort her, but that chances are that it wouldn’t happen again anytime soon, especially since it’s never happened before. The fact that Vies got sick worried her, so we’re taking Viesa to get checked out right now.

I was debating on whether or not I should blog about this –as this bloggy is supposed to pump everyone up, not bring them down!- but alas, it’s also a blog about my life… and that’s what’s going on right now.

I’ll see ya later this afternoon and will be back to my normal pink and peppy self πŸ™‚

xoxo,

Gina

I hope she is ok! My doggy had a seizure too once, and it was terribly scary. She ended up being ok, tho. I think you should blog about it – we are here to support you and this certainly doesn’t bring anyone down!

So sorry to read about your baby being sick. It is really interesting that you came home after feeling a little wonky, just in time for it to happen. I want to say thank you for blogging about this topic. I know the blog is supposed to, as you said, pump us up, but I also think having it be realistic is good too. Sure, it’s not the usual cheery post, but I think hearing about overcoming the negative is good. I wish you and your fur baby luck in getting well.

Life isn’t always perfect and happy – you are human too! I hope that Viesa visit with the vet goes fine. I know how worried you must feel.

I believe that everything happens for a reson, and you were meant to go home last night.

I am SO sorry to hear that! I’m a nervous wreck when my Yorkie doesn’s look well. It’s crazy how strong a woman’s intuition is! I’m glad that you were home to be with her and I know that you and the Pilot mean everything to her. Stay strong and hopefully this doesn’t happen again!

  13. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on February 10, 2010 at 11:05 am

  14. Christina on February 10, 2010 at 11:05 am

Your poor baby! My fur baby had parvovirus when we first rescued him and he had a 20% chance of survival. He made it! Fur babies are very strong, especially b/c they have strong mommies by their side πŸ˜‰

I hope you and she are feeling better soon!

Hope Viesa is ok, Gina! I know how much you love your pups, and as a dog owner myself, I know how awful it is to see them sick. πŸ™ Thank God your intuition told you to go home!

  17. Molly @thevegandorm on February 10, 2010 at 11:08 am

that is really scary – I remember a time when my dog (black lab – german shepherd – chow chow – wolf mix) were about to walk in the park, and she was sitting by our car in the parking lot. All of the sudden, a car whipped into the parking spot and ran over her foot, and I just heard her let out this awful yelp. There are no words for the panic that goes through you.
I’m sure everything will work out – good luck!

  18. Brooke on February 10, 2010 at 11:10 am

I am so sorry you had to experience that with your puppy. My dog has had seizures on and off her whole life. The strange thing is hers are from anxiety. Every time we have to take her to the vet, as soon as she walks in, she has one. It is a very scary thing to see. I hope you have a better day today and my thoughts are with you and your pup.

  19. Kat on February 10, 2010 at 11:13 am

That is horrible. So sorry to hear about Viesa. When i had my dog (many years ago) she had a stroke one morning and it was one of the scariest things that i have ever seen. she ended up being okay and living for many years after it though. the one effect that the stroke did have is that her balance was thrown off a bit so she would have trouble on things like stairs (not just a couple but if it was a long flight of stairs). Good thing we lived in a ranch house! Hope everyone is doing better today.

  20. Morgan on February 10, 2010 at 11:16 am

I’m so sorry Gina. I’m glad you were there for her. It happened to one of my childhood dogs, so I know how rough that is. I hope she and you are feeling better!

  21. Kristilyn (My 29th Year) on February 10, 2010 at 11:18 am

Poor Viesa! I hope that doesn’t happen again. That’s one thing I hate when our pups are sick – they can’t tell you what’s wrong! A long while ago we had to give our dogs deworming pills and our one girl was up all night throwing up. I sat with her in the bathroom and she’d just give me this look, like “What’s wrong with me?” and I didn’t know what to do!

Fingers crossed that she’ll feel better soon!

  35. Shelly on February 10, 2010 at 11:31 am

Oh my gosh! I am actually right there with you because my cat had a seizure last night, which has never happened before. He’s at the vet right now. πŸ™

  37. Alexis on February 10, 2010 at 11:32 am

I’m so sorry, that’s awful! My dog used to have periodic seizures, and they are awful to watch. I’m sure Viesa was glad that you were there to comfort her, she was probably really scared πŸ™

Don’t worry about a blog post that’s not super-cheery. Life happens, good and bad. We appreciate that you share with us! I hope V comes out of the vet’s office with flying colors, and is back to her sassy self in no time.

  38. Jessie (Vegan-minded) on February 10, 2010 at 11:33 am

  44. Alex on February 10, 2010 at 11:42 am

    Hi Gina,
I’m so sorry to hear about Viesa… Seizure’s are so scary to watch, and you feel so helpless. My last dog suffered from seizures for all his life. If you want or need any more information about seizures feel free to send me an email. I used to work at a vet clinic, and have several family members who are veterinarians, and because I had an epileptic dog, I have information about seizures coming out my ears.

    Thinking about you… and Viesa.

  45. Catherine on February 10, 2010 at 11:45 am

Oh no I’m so sorry to hear about Viesa! So, so lucky you happened to be home – someone is definitely watching over you. Hope things calm down and everything turns out alright.

  46. Alicia on February 10, 2010 at 11:46 am

My golden got ill this morning – it’s not a good dog health day apparently!

My in-laws’ golden used to get seizures. I only saw it happen one time, but I had to leave the room b/c I was so shaken up by it. I started crying and it took me awhile to calm down. I understand what you were going through!

  47. JavaChick on February 10, 2010 at 11:47 am
