More fur baby drama

Morning! How about some raw donut holes with that cup of coffee or tea? πŸ˜‰

donuts

Sadly, those aren’t for me but are un-cooking away for a client πŸ™‚

This morning, I woke up bright and early for a weights sesh with Jeni and Ashley. We did an hour of core – all abs and back. It was pretty intense but a lot of fun because we chat a lot πŸ™‚

Before leaving the casa, I had a classic bfast cookie:

bfast cookie

-1/2 C multigrain oats

-1/s scoop vanilla Sun Warrior

-cinnamon

-nutmeg

-vanilla

-1 T almond butter

-1 small smashed banana

-almond milk

-raisins

And a shot of Emergen-C:

A side of monkey dogs:

So as you guys know, I’ve had my fair share of dog drama in my life- remember when Viesa tried to eat Bella?

Well last night, I was training a client and started to feel like death. I got really anxious, my heart started palpitating like a mofo and I got really dizzy. I finished my appointment, but texted my next client to say I wasn’t feeling well and re-schedule so I could come home and chill for a second before the wives’ meeting. The original plan was to change at work and head straight to the wives’ meeting from there.  So instead, I changed my schedule and came home, feeling pretty miserable.

Then Viesa had a seizure and got sick.

It was no joke one of the most horrible things I’ve ever seen- I’m still pretty shaken up about it. The mind-boggling thing is that I wasn’t supposed to be here when it happened- I was supposed to still be at work. Isn’t it crazy how stuff like that happens?? Thank goodness I was home.

My friend Jeni raced over here when I called her crying –she lives in the neighborhood next to ours- and I spoke with one of the wives who is a vet. The vet said to keep an eye on her, comfort her, but that chances are that it wouldn’t happen again anytime soon, especially since it’s never happened before. The fact that Vies got sick worried her, so we’re taking Viesa to get checked out right now.

I was debating on whether or not I should blog about this –as this bloggy is supposed to pump everyone up, not bring them down!- but alas, it’s also a blog about my life… and that’s what’s going on right now.

I’ll see ya later this afternoon and will be back to my normal pink and peppy self πŸ™‚

xoxo,

Gina

so sorry to hear about your furry child… i just went through pup drama too, my miniature doxie had to have back surgery, and the whole process was agonizing, but he’s getting better so quick, gets his staples out tomorrow, and everyday i can see the strength coming back in his legs and his spirit…

they are so worth the drama (and money) when you’re able to make them healthy and happy again =)

i’ll keep gorgeous viesa in my thoughts!

  2. CM on February 10, 2010 at 11:54 am

That’s too bad Gina! I’m feeling quite down today as well, back pain and stomach feels uneasy. I hope it passes soon.

  3. stacey on February 10, 2010 at 11:56 am

I hope that Viesa is ok! I cannnot imagine watching one of my dogs have a seizure. I would not know what to do.

  4. kt F on February 10, 2010 at 11:56 am

Sorry to hear that =( hope everything goes well at the vet’s… my childhood dog had epilepsy and was on meds for his young life but didn’t need them when he was older. Sometimes seizures just hit out of nowhere, sometimes they ate something weird. Hopefully it was just a one-time thing!

  5. sarah on February 10, 2010 at 11:59 am

    Oh no! Poor Viesa πŸ™

You know, my dog Chloe has seizures. She had been having them for… God knows how long before I was finally home to see it. And yes, it was just the most horrible thing πŸ™ But, good news, is that she’s on meds and is a brand new dog, sans seizures. It’s made all the difference in the world.

I hope your baby is okay.

  6. Erica on February 10, 2010 at 11:59 am

Aww poor pup and poor you!

I can understand how crazy it is! Im an animal lover and was a vet tech for a while and I know how upsetting and stressful it is. Im sure she will be fine, just hang in there and give her a ton of puppy love!!

The power of pet/parent relationships is amazing, that you knew that you needed to be home! I hope she is ok and am sending my get well thoughts to her and you!

So sorry you had to go through all of that with Viesa! Dogs are so special and it’s crazy how much we can love them and they can affect our lives. I hope everything is better today!

  13. Madison on February 10, 2010 at 12:18 pm

I hope Viesa is ok. I hope you are ok as well. It must have been scary. Please update on Viesa’s condition after the check up.

On another note, those donut holes look so good.

I’m sorry to hear about your pup! Do you think it could be a reaction to the Bortadella shot?? Definitely good to get her checked out, it can never hurt. It is crazy when you end up in the right place at the right time. Hope you aren’t too shaken up.

  15. Christine on February 10, 2010 at 12:24 pm

Such a stroke of good luck! Just goes to show how everything happens for a reason, and that some things are blessings in disguise. Hope everything turns out okay!

  17. Lee on February 10, 2010 at 12:35 pm

I hope your doggie feels better.

I think you can absolutely blog about these types of things. Even if your blog is normally peppy and inspiring, you’re still a real person who goes through ups and downs too.

  18. Adrienne on February 10, 2010 at 12:35 pm

The same thing happened to my dog a few years back. It was really scary to watch, but what made it worse was the look on my dogs face. He was absolutely petrified and had no idea what was going on with his body.

We brought him to the vet and we were told that is is not uncommon for dogs of his breed (english springer spaniel) to have one or two seizure in his lifetime and just to do our best to comfort him after. She told us there would be no damage to him or any health problems.

Hopefully this is the case for you too!

  19. Suzanne on February 10, 2010 at 12:36 pm

Poor Viesa! That’s so scary! It’s so lucky that you were home! I’m happy that everything’s relatively alright now!

aww i hope viesa is ok! that is really scary but hopefully the vet will figure it out. thankfully you were home to be there with her!

I’m so sorry about your puppy . . . that had to have been just terrible. I will say a prayer for your baby – and hope everything turns out ok. My 12 year old four-legged baby just had a lipoma removed – and it resulted in fluid build up and an infection we’ve been fighting for a week. I’ve been sleeping (well, not really sleeping) downstairs on the couch with him cause he can’t do stairs yet. Hopefully, the stitches come out tomorrow. I feel like such a mean doggie mama yelling at him to lay down all the time . . . but it is for his own good. Please keep us posted. Thinking of you.

Hey like you said, the blog is to pump *everyone* up, and that includes its owner/creator/awesome-maker! Therefore, if us mere readers ever get a chance to at least try to pump you up with well wishes, then the blog is still performing true to its function. Hope you have a happy hump day nontheless and good luck with puppy. Big Hug.

I hope Viesa is ok! I would be beside myself if something happened to my pet. I’m glad you blogged about it because at least you have the support of your readers trying to cheer you up.

I don’t usually comment but hugs go out to you and your doggies! That sounds so traumatizing but it seems like you are handling it as well as could be expected. Hope your day goes better than yesterday! πŸ™‚

ALWAYS blog about what’s real, what’s going on in your life…
SO sorry to hear about your baby. I hope all is well and I’ll keep you both in my thoughts today!

  27. Brittany on February 10, 2010 at 12:58 pm

Oh No. I hope Viesa will be okay. Growing up we had a toy poodle, Inky- she was like Bella, but black, and she had seizures every so often. And, the vet couldn’t explain why. But you’re right, they are super scary… we would just hold her and try to comfort her until the seizure passed.

Please let us know what the vet says…

  28. Ash @ Good Taste. Healthy Me on February 10, 2010 at 12:59 pm

Oh my! I’m so sorry! That must’ve been so scary. Your poor pup!

  29. mmclaughlin on February 10, 2010 at 1:01 pm

So sorry you had to witness the seizure, but glad you were there for her when it was over. I’ve had 2 dogs in my life (one cocker spaniel and one St. Bernard) who had seizures. I was home alone with the St. Bernard the first time she ever had one and it was terrifying even though I had seen it before with the cocker spaniel. πŸ™ It just about broke my heart. Turns out she ended up getting them every time a thunderstorm was coming because she was so scared of them. πŸ™
I hope Viesa recovers quickly and doesn’t have any more!

Oh my gosh, how amazing is that that you were home! I am so sorry you’ve had to go through this. I will pray that it is something minor and that you both will be back to your beautiful selves soon!

Sending lots of good thoughts and prayers your way. As the saying goes, dogs are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole.

  33. Chrissie on February 10, 2010 at 1:17 pm

I usually just silently lurk and don’t comment but I wanted to say that I’m so sorry to hear about poor Viesa, she’s such a beautiful girl. At least you were able to be there for her and comfort her, she must have been even more freaked out than you were. Let us know how she gets on won’t you? And don’t be daft about not blogging things that might bring us down, your blog is so much fun, so cheerful most of the time – I think you more than earn a shoulder to cry on when you’re not feeling so peppy!

  34. Krista on February 10, 2010 at 1:17 pm

I feel so bad for you and Veisa!!! I *really* hope that all goes well at the vet. (((HUGS)))

BTW…you go ahead and write about whatever you want on this blog! Life isn’t all about “ups”…..the downs happen and help shape us into who we are…

My pupper has epilepsy and it is the scariest thing to see!! I am so glad you were home to be there for your pupper when she snapped out of it. It’s pretty scary (VER scary!) But I’ve had a lot of luck with phenobarbital twice a day. Your vet will know what to do! In the meantime, give those puppies lots of loving and make sure you take care of yourself, too. It’s such a stressful thing when our furbabies aren’t 100%. Lovies to you, g xoxo

i just wanted to say that seizures look worse than they actually are; the animal/person is unconscious during it. my coworker has epilepsy and had a seizure at work once; she was actually fine afterwards, it’s just the firing of motor neurons that makes it look really scary. also it’s possible to have a seizure even if one is healthy (like that handful of pokemon-watching kids in the 1990s). anyways, dunno if this helped or not, but wanted to add in my two cents.

  44. LEM on February 10, 2010 at 1:44 pm

I`m so sorry to hear about that, I can`t imagine how terrible that must have been. I`m a dog lover!! and loveee your 2 doggiessss!! I really hope this is the last doggie issue you have to go through! I`ll send lots of positive energy your way…

Hi Gina! I’m so sorry about your poor puppy. I’m sure she’ll be fine. My dog has suffered from a few seizures before and while it’s incredibly scary at first, he’s always returned to his old self pretty quickly. I’ll keep her in my thoughts though and hope for a speedy recovery. I hope you’re feeling better too πŸ™‚

I’m so sorry Gina! I know how pets truly become “children” and can only imagine how scary that would be. Major hugs! xoxo

  48. rachelgab on February 10, 2010 at 2:08 pm

Aww. I used to have a Beagle who would have seizures about twice a year. The vet said that it can be totally normal, but it is the most scariest thing I’ve seen and there’s really nothing you can do! I don’t know if you have any fancy pet stores near you (my guess is no) but some of those stores carry raw dog food which is really good for their health and might help. Sorry you had to go through this!

So sorry the puppy was sick. One of my Yorkies has had a handful of seziures over the years & everyone is just as scary as the next. I totally freaked out on the 1st one — my husband told me I will have to get better about situations like this b4 we have kids. My vet told me to watch the clock b/c if it is still going on close to 10 minutes, you need to get to a vet office for medicine. Hope everything works out ok.
