Punch, Kick, Shake

Hey guys! Happy Fashion Friday 😀 Hope you’re having a wonderful morning <3 I’ll be back later today with the fashion style I’m loving this week 🙂

Last night, bootcamp was amazing -I love teaching that class- and I met the pilot at home for a 15-minute dinner:

dinner (2)

Here are the steps for this 15-minute meal:

-Pre-heat oven to 375* and start boiling water for the pasta

-Add the chicken to the oven with Newman’s Own Mesquite-Lime sauce and set timer for 15 minutes

-Add the pasta (I used 1.5 servings of brown rice penne) to the pot to boil

-Start the salad: I massaged some kale in a large bowl with Garlic Gold vinaigrette, extra virgin olive oil, rice wine vinegar, Garlic Gold crunchies, sea salt, cayenne and grape tomatoes

-Heat a skillet for the egg- I wanted an eggstada for my protein since the pilot was having chicken; check the pasta, drain it and spray with olive oil so it doesn’t stick

-Add the pasta back to the pot, reduce heat to medium and add 1 T butter (I used Earth balance) and 1/2 C almond milk

-Crack eggs into the egg skillet (3 egg whites for me)

-Add a handful cheese of choice to the pasta (he likes parmesan), stir quickly to melt the cheese, and black pepper

-Flip the egg

-Plate everything up 🙂

Eggstada and kale salad for me:

Kale salad, penne alfredo and mesquite-lime chicken for the pilot:

chicken and kale

So easy and insanely delishhhh 🙂

Speaking of delish…

pilot

(I joke that it’s his Band Aid colored shirt)

I also enjoyed a heaping bowl of peach protein ice cream for dessert 😀

ice cream

Amazing.

We also filmed this little video for ya’ll so that you can kind of get an idea of what TurboFire is about. (This is the Fire 30 video I reviewed yesterday)

*Keep a lookout for a special cameo somewhere in there 😉

Pretty fun, huh?

See ya later today with that Fashion Friday post <3

xoxo,

Gina

LOVE that video (and the Pilot’s appearance!) Looks like I may be purchasing Turbo Fire soon!

  2. BethT on July 9, 2010 at 10:40 am

pretty sure i’d look ridiculous doing that…

  3. Jessica @ Rawtumn on July 9, 2010 at 10:49 am

Awesome video! It looks more fun that I even imagined. Thank you so much for sharing with us! I have to say, you look too cute doing all the moves, I would look like a complete wreck. =P

  4. Megan (Braise The Roof) on July 9, 2010 at 10:58 am

This is awesome and hilarious. Does she break down the moves first in the “new to class” part of the DVD or is it just a slower version?

Gotta love when the men-folk try to be as coordinated as us 😉

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 11:24 am

in the “new to class” version, each combo is broken down first and then you speed it up- in the reg version, she doesn’t break down the combos, you just rock n roll 🙂

  5. Rosey Rebecca on July 9, 2010 at 11:15 am

The video is hilarious. Looks like a great, fun workout. You seem like you’re having tons of fun! Love it!

  6. Run Sarah on July 9, 2010 at 11:18 am

Love the video – looks like so much fun! Your kale salad looks great too, yum.

  7. Liz @ Tip Top Shape on July 9, 2010 at 11:19 am

That 15 minute dinner looks delicious! I have a quick question about the kale, though. I see that you always massage it. What exactly does that do? Do you have to massage it if you’re eating it raw?

  8. brittany on July 9, 2010 at 11:20 am

i’m out of breath just watching that video!! The pilot is sooo funny haha

  9. Sarra H on July 9, 2010 at 11:23 am

How cute is this video! totally made my day hahaha 🙂 it looks soo fun and you make it look so easy haha 😉 If someone wanted to burn fat/lose weight, would you recommend either insanity or turbofire? (if you don’t mind me asking 🙂 )

  10. Sandra on July 9, 2010 at 11:27 am

The Pilot looks like he is doing the MC Hammer dance 🙂

  11. Tina on July 9, 2010 at 11:29 am

Now I really can’t wait to try it after this baby! It looks like it is still similar to Turbojam which I love, but more intense and new variety. And the Pilot doing his moves was hilarious.

  12. Angie (Losing It and Loving It) on July 9, 2010 at 11:44 am

Love the video! Many of those moves are similar to her Turbo Jam workouts so that’s pretty cool. Hilarious cameo of the Pilot. Fun times!

  13. Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) on July 9, 2010 at 11:50 am

Love the video- esp the cameo!! 😉

  14. dotsie on July 9, 2010 at 11:56 am

Toooo cute-love the video! Looks like something fun to do, too.

  15. A Teenage Gourmet on July 9, 2010 at 12:03 pm

Hehehehe. That looks like it takes A LOT of energy! 🙂 Nice job!

  16. adriana on July 9, 2010 at 12:04 pm

Is this as hard on the knees like you said Insanity was? I really need a new cardio as my current ones don’t help me break a sweat anymore and the gym isn’t an option right now.

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 1:22 pm

it’s a little knee intense from what i can tell right now, but won’t know for sure until i try more of the videos. a cool thing is that one girl does low impact the whole time, so if you need modifications, you can follow her

  17. Madison on July 9, 2010 at 12:05 pm

LMAO! The Pilot looks like he was doing a segment from MC Hammer’s Can’t Touch This video. I almost fell off my office chair laughing. This video looks fun!

  18. Jocelyn on July 9, 2010 at 12:12 pm

kale salad looks yummy! I love kale, but you know what I found out today? Kale (along with things like raw cabbage, raw broccoli and sweet potatos) are like poison to your thyroid (if you have a sluggish thyroid – hypothyroidism, that is) and I do! I am so sad…I am going to consult my doc and see if I can have these things in small amounts still!

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 1:22 pm

i knew that about broccoli and sweet potatoes, but not kale- that makes me sad! my thyroid is bueno though, just had it checked. i hope your doc will give ya the ok to eat these foods in small amounts!

  19. Alycia @ Fit n Fresh on July 9, 2010 at 12:16 pm

Hahaha I LOVE the video! The DVD looks like more fun than I thought! And the cameo? So cute! I’m glad you got TurboFire cause I may just have to get it now (:

  20. Mary @ What's Cookin' with Mary on July 9, 2010 at 12:18 pm

What a great video Gina!! You’re so adorable. I love that the pilot jumped in there for a minute!! 😀

  21. Laura on July 9, 2010 at 12:21 pm

Ahahahahha! Love that Seksi Pilot. It made me laugh. Too funny. Turbo fire looks so fun! Keep up the review I wanna hear all about it!

  22. caroline on July 9, 2010 at 12:23 pm

    Adorable video Gina 🙂

I teach a lot of HIIT classes and just got Nike Free Shoes to wear while working out in them…. CHANGED MY LIFE! I highly reccomend them for classes that involve a lot of jumping, pivoting, and moving in general. They make you want to MOVE! I got the cross training hyper trainer – not the free run. I think you’d totally love them! They come in pink…. check out mine with the laces… what do you think?

AWESOME i was going to ask if anyone had plyo shoe recommendations- thank you!

      • caroline on July 9, 2010 at 7:18 pm

you can even CUSTOM your own Nike Free Hyper Trainers! Pink ones would be SO cute on you!

  23. Nicole on July 9, 2010 at 12:25 pm

That looks like an absolute blast…although I’m sure I would look horrible doing it, I might have to give it a try. Thanks as always Fitnessista!

  24. Jen on July 9, 2010 at 12:35 pm

You have so much coordination! That looks like so much fun! Looks like the pilot was having fun too. 🙂

  25. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on July 9, 2010 at 12:41 pm

Haha cute video! TurboFire looks like so much fun! That’s kind of what I look like when I have too much energy and decide to have a solo dance party to the Spice Girls. 😉

  26. Laura on July 9, 2010 at 12:45 pm

    Hey Gina,
    You’re a badass.

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 1:14 pm

      hahah! thank you 🙂

  27. Brittany on July 9, 2010 at 12:57 pm

Turbofire looks awesome, but I seriously doubt I would be able to keep up. I’m so uncoordinated when it comes to workout aerobics.

    I loved the Pilot’s cameo!!

  28. Alicia on July 9, 2010 at 12:59 pm

OMG!!! Ha ha ha I totally laughed my butt off at the pilot’s cameo. It reminds me of something my husband would do!

  29. Krista on July 9, 2010 at 1:04 pm

GREAT video! That sure looks hardcore. And the Pilot made me laugh! Thanks for that…:)

  30. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on July 9, 2010 at 1:10 pm

Haha that looks like SO much fun! I love the part when the pilot comes in. My best guy friend also has a shirt like that, he’s actually running in it right now. I’m pretty sure the Navy gave it to him.

  31. Michelle on July 9, 2010 at 1:22 pm

I MUST have that video! And does the pilot always do it with you?

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 1:25 pm

hahah, no that was his first (and probably only) turbofire experience

  32. Alicia on July 9, 2010 at 1:27 pm

Love it!!! Your Pilot is hilarious!!!

  33. Ellen@FirednFabulous on July 9, 2010 at 1:28 pm

I would look ridiculous doing that. RI.DIC. But you’ve got some pretty sweet moves 🙂 P.S. You and the pilot are TOO cute!

  34. Lorin on July 9, 2010 at 1:59 pm

Haha, I would get so lost with that DVD and would probably start cracking up at myself. Good job though, it seems really fast!

  35. Jen on July 9, 2010 at 2:12 pm

Hahahaha! This made me laugh out loud!!! Looks intense, but you’re a natural!!! Thanks for sharing!

  36. andrenna on July 9, 2010 at 2:18 pm

i am so pumped for turbo fire now!!!! i’m totally doing it when i finish insanity!! i love the funk music, haha!

  37. Kristina on July 9, 2010 at 2:29 pm

ha! love the Pilot Appearance – you two are SO CUTE together !!

*LOVE* that song… it was one I used in I think EVERY step class I taught in college. 🙂 Thank you so much for an overview… still trying to decide if I could do this…? if it gets too dancey or too fast I cannot keep up. looks REALLY awesome, though, so I WANT to try it! 🙂

    happy weekend!

  38. Erin on July 9, 2010 at 2:33 pm

    Hi Gina,
I’ve been reading you for ages, just wanted to know that I love your blog… you’ve helped me change my eating habits and I’ve lost 4 pounds so far. 🙂 question, though:
I’ve seen you post about p90x and insanity and everything, but from what I’ve heard, those are for people already in decent shape.
can you please recommend awesome workouts for complete beginners? i’ve been googling like mad but I’m so confused, and I would really value your input!

    • jenn on July 9, 2010 at 2:41 pm

I’ve been doing p90x and started completely as a beginner. Its not easy, but you can totally modify exercises for the first several weeks until your body adapts. Believe me – when I started, all I knew how to do was run. I once had a gym membership where the only equipment I used was the treadmill! Give p90x a try; I think you’ll like it.

      • Erin on July 9, 2010 at 3:06 pm

I am curious about it! I heard that it is really bad on your lower joints, though, and I’m pretty heavy, so one of my knees isn’t the greatest! thanks for your opinion though, I might look into it anyway. 🙂

  39. Jackie (Army Wife Extraordinaire) on July 9, 2010 at 2:36 pm

That looks so intense! I think I’d have to definately build my fitness base better before I even tried!

  44. Amy on July 9, 2010 at 3:27 pm

Holy crap! That is one fast program! Even the speed of the music made me all jittery and nervous – lol! It does look fun, though…

  45. Kristin on July 9, 2010 at 3:32 pm

Ok, so that looks like a scary-good workout! And you and the Pilot…too cute for words. 🙂 Love the name of your media company… 😉

  46. Emily J on July 9, 2010 at 3:33 pm

Loved the Pilot’s cameo! Is that the actual music on the DVDs? If it is then this workout might be perfect for me- I find that I have trouble getting motivated unless I have some serious upbeat tunes pumping, haha.

  47. Emily on July 9, 2010 at 3:34 pm
