Punch, Kick, Shake

Hey guys! Happy Fashion Friday 😀 Hope you’re having a wonderful morning <3 I’ll be back later today with the fashion style I’m loving this week 🙂

Last night, bootcamp was amazing -I love teaching that class- and I met the pilot at home for a 15-minute dinner:

dinner (2)

Here are the steps for this 15-minute meal:

-Pre-heat oven to 375* and start boiling water for the pasta

-Add the chicken to the oven with Newman’s Own Mesquite-Lime sauce and set timer for 15 minutes

-Add the pasta (I used 1.5 servings of brown rice penne) to the pot to boil

-Start the salad: I massaged some kale in a large bowl with Garlic Gold vinaigrette, extra virgin olive oil, rice wine vinegar, Garlic Gold crunchies, sea salt, cayenne and grape tomatoes

-Heat a skillet for the egg- I wanted an eggstada for my protein since the pilot was having chicken; check the pasta, drain it and spray with olive oil so it doesn’t stick

-Add the pasta back to the pot, reduce heat to medium and add 1 T butter (I used Earth balance) and 1/2 C almond milk

-Crack eggs into the egg skillet (3 egg whites for me)

-Add a handful cheese of choice to the pasta (he likes parmesan), stir quickly to melt the cheese, and black pepper

-Flip the egg

-Plate everything up 🙂

Eggstada and kale salad for me:

Kale salad, penne alfredo and mesquite-lime chicken for the pilot:

So easy and insanely delishhhh 🙂

Speaking of delish…

pilot

(I joke that it’s his Band Aid colored shirt)

I also enjoyed a heaping bowl of peach protein ice cream for dessert 😀

ice cream

Amazing.

We also filmed this little video for ya’ll so that you can kind of get an idea of what TurboFire is about. (This is the Fire 30 video I reviewed yesterday)

*Keep a lookout for a special cameo somewhere in there 😉

Pretty fun, huh?

See ya later today with that Fashion Friday post <3

xoxo,

Gina

Thanks for the video, Gina! This looks pretty exhausting…seems like fun though 🙂 Can’t wait for your Fashion post later today 😀

Oh by the way, how was Zumba? Did I miss your review about the new class/teacher at the base?

    Wish you a lovely weekend!!

it was very different.. the teacher is cute but it was much slower than our usual party time

  3. Jennie {in Wonderland} on July 9, 2010 at 6:54 am

    That was outta control cute.

I loved your idea for the easy supper! I can definitely see myself making something similar for myself and the Welshman. Probably hummus / crackers on the side for me, or a big slab of goat cheese, ha ha.

    Love the video, Gina!

  4. Rachel on July 9, 2010 at 6:56 am

Aww I love this. I starting cracking up when I saw the pilot doing it. Haha this is great…it looks a little too dancy for me though

  5. Courtney @ Three Months on July 9, 2010 at 7:16 am

  6. Nicole @ Making Good Choices on July 9, 2010 at 7:18 am

  7. Allie on July 9, 2010 at 7:22 am

hahahahahaha. fun-nny. i am not coordinated enough for this though i think.

  8. Beth on July 9, 2010 at 7:22 am

Thanks for posting this Gina! I have done Turbo Jam & love Chalene’s fun & positive attitude. You’ve sold me on getting this workout! 🙂

  9. Little Bookworm on July 9, 2010 at 7:24 am

  10. Maggie on July 9, 2010 at 7:34 am

  11. Julie @ Pickley Pear on July 9, 2010 at 7:35 am

  12. Ashley on July 9, 2010 at 7:36 am

that looks like a blast!! Unfortuantely I’m sure the people that live in the apartment below would HATE me if I started doing that!

  13. Anya @ Fitness & Sunshine on July 9, 2010 at 7:41 am

It looks like you’re having SO much fun! 🙂 I’m glad you like it!

  14. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg on July 9, 2010 at 7:47 am

Ahhh, I took turbo jam classes a few years ago, and I loved them! This reminds me of that!

  16. Jennifer S on July 9, 2010 at 7:55 am

  17. The Healthy Hostess on July 9, 2010 at 7:58 am

Awesome video! Thanks so much for making it so we can get an idea of what Turbofire is like! It helps to see a “real person” doing the program!
    🙂 Happy Friday!

  18. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on July 9, 2010 at 8:03 am

That video is great, but the workout’s totally not for the uncoordinated!

  19. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on July 9, 2010 at 8:04 am

Hahaha, I love the pilot cameo!! This video looks like a TON of fun actually- how does it feel on your knees? Insanity is way too rough on mine, but I’d love to try this!! You can definitely tell you’re a dancer by the way- what would look like thrashing around on most people looks so graceful and coordinated with you!

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 8:12 am

      thank you 🙂
the HIIT video i did yesterday (not the one i filmed, but a different one) was a little intense on the knees. i’m still not sure if i would recommend it to people w knee probs- she gives low intensity options but i’m not sure it would give the same benefits. maybe i’ll try the workout one day and do the low intensity moves??

  20. Laury @ thefitnesdish on July 9, 2010 at 8:07 am

Haha…Turbofire looks SOOOOOOOO fun!!!!!!! You’re a trip, girl!

  21. Katie @ Healthy Heddleston on July 9, 2010 at 8:10 am

Loved that you posted the video!! It looks like such a great workout! Do you mind me asking how much the TurboFire videos cost? THanks!

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 8:13 am

      $120ish

  22. carolinebee on July 9, 2010 at 8:12 am

UM, hilarious, first of all…..Sorry G but Pilot’s facials are way better ;D
I want to get them soo bad, they look really fun and the music is gooood! It reminds of me of TurboKick, which I think is Chalene also?? She knows whats up, ha I would love to take a class from her!

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 8:14 am

      hahah for real, huh??
yup, chalene does all the turbo stuff. she’s a goddess 🙂

  23. Amy M on July 9, 2010 at 8:18 am

Awesome! I just tried like a minute along with you and wow!! I think I may get this one of these days. The music is so upbeat! And it doesnt look too terribly confusing!

BTW I first watched it without sound while my DH was sleeping! Too funny!

  24. Jessica @ Jessica Balances on July 9, 2010 at 8:19 am

You can totally tell you are a dancer doing those moves! 🙂 oh my goodness, it looks intense but so much fun… and the pilot’s cameo was hilarious! Thank you so much for doing a video!

  29. allison @ livingoneday on July 9, 2010 at 8:51 am

hahahah i loved the video!!! the pilot looks so adorable doing that. and you really know what you’re doing! it looks super intense to get the rhythm and moves down because it goes so fast. i would love to try that!!

  30. Jessie (Bites and Pieces) on July 9, 2010 at 8:52 am

Loved the video! The workout looks like so much fun. 🙂

  31. Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life on July 9, 2010 at 8:56 am

That was a GREAT video!! I actually had a little giggle out loud when the pilot made his debut – what a ham! Looks like something my hubby would have done. 🙂

  32. erin on July 9, 2010 at 8:56 am

good lord, i could NOT do that every day! it’s really super fast! it’d take me like weeks before i was able to do it in rhythm.

  33. Heather (Heather's Dish) on July 9, 2010 at 8:58 am

i my goodness, you are going HARD! love the video though…it’s nice to know that you have to work super hard too 🙂

  34. Super G on July 9, 2010 at 9:02 am

Your dinner looks so yummy!! and not to mention that protein ice cream! Do you use a regular blender or a Vitamix to make it?
Turbofire looks like fun! The video was so nice. I couldn’t help myself from laughing when the pilot started doing the workout. His facial expressions: Priceless! You’re so cute!

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 9:03 am

yup, i use the vita mix
and yes, the pilot is hilarious 🙂

  35. lisa on July 9, 2010 at 9:02 am

Oh my goodness- you and the pilot are beyond adorable! That video set the tone for a cheerful, happy day.
    thanks!

  36. Allison @ Food For Healing on July 9, 2010 at 9:06 am

holy cow! ok i would have died within the first 30 seconds, but you’ve been very active for a long time. That looks like such a crazy good workout, and fun! thanks for showing.

  37. Paige (Running Around Normal) on July 9, 2010 at 9:28 am

When you said you were going to post a video, I thought…omg I would never want to see myself doing one of Chalene’s videos! But you pulled it off and actually looked cute! haha That’s like Turbo Jam on crack, methinks 🙂
    Love the pilot cameo LOL

    • Mandy on July 9, 2010 at 10:06 am

Paige, that’s exactly how I’ve described Turbo Fire… Turbo Jam on crack 🙂

  38. Anne on July 9, 2010 at 9:31 am

You and the pilot are too cute. I noticed there was some of the jumping that Insanity has, but is it not as much? I’d like to try this but I live in an apt building and I don’t really need to make enemies with the downstairs neighbor.

  39. kristin on July 9, 2010 at 9:33 am

what a great video! looks like a lot of fun!

  40. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on July 9, 2010 at 9:40 am

That made me laugh (the cameo part…not you….well some of the move you did made me laugh). 🙂 Thanks for doing the video…it really helped to see what it was all about.

  41. Dee on July 9, 2010 at 9:41 am

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this video! 😀

ps. Love all the food pics!

  42. Julie on July 9, 2010 at 9:48 am

Hey Gina, cool video. Are you endorsed by BeachBody?

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 9:52 am

nope, i have nothing to do with the company- i just love insanity and turbofire 🙂

  43. Mandy on July 9, 2010 at 10:03 am

YAY!! I’m SO glad you’re doing Turbo Fire!!! it’s SO much fun!!! I’ll have to go back and read your review from yesterday.. but the hubby and I did Fire 30 today… AWESOME SWEAT!!!

  44. Laura J. (Health and Hotness) on July 9, 2010 at 10:04 am

  46. Kat (Bubble Gum Gym Kat) on July 9, 2010 at 10:09 am

Hello, that looks totally FUN!! I love Chalene’s workouts..I might just have to purchase that and add it to the rest of my collection 🙂

  47. Aya on July 9, 2010 at 10:24 am

Woah, I’m slow at cooking, so that 15 minutes would probably be like, 30 for me. XD

But Turbo Fire looks amazing! Is your heart rate going to constantly be up like that, or are there walk outs in between cycles? And I loved the cameo. 😀

  48. Rebecca on July 9, 2010 at 10:26 am

    That was awesome.

  49. Jo on July 9, 2010 at 10:31 am

With all do respect, your hubby is too cute 🙂 hehe. Also, I’m impressed with the 15 minute meal!

  50. ActiveEggplant on July 9, 2010 at 10:32 am

Makes me tired just watching that video! I think I just might have to purchase Turbo Fire. Looks like a great workout!
