Virtual wine date

(this early in the morning? Letโ€™s just roll with it haha)

Wine 1 of 1 9

If we were having wine right now, weโ€™d probably have to be in Little Italy. Iโ€™ve only been once and am already obsessed; canโ€™t wait to go back. And the REAL Italy. I think/wish about going back every day. The urge is real, friends. Weโ€™d have to get some margherita pizza to share with our wine, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Iโ€™d want to hear about what youโ€™ve been up to! Howโ€™s the end of summer going for you? How are the fam, kids, fur-kids, job, life? I always love to hear about whatโ€™s going on and what youโ€™ve been doing.

Iโ€™d tell you about a couple of exciting things: my first eBook (โ€œBuild Up Your Blogโ€) should be live today (Iโ€™ll post the details, but it will initially only be $9!) and Iโ€™m looking forward to an upcoming trip to British Columbia. Iโ€™ve never been to Canada, but already know the scenery will be exquisite.

If we were having wine right now, Iโ€™d tell you about “the twos.” Theyโ€™ve been trying over the past week, but things seem to be on the ups (knock on wood). Also, teething: apparently it never ends, haha.  Iโ€™d also probably tell you about something especially cute Liv did yesterday. In her yoga class, after savasana, the kids take turns ringing a small bell and say how they feel. Itโ€™s very sweet, and usually the responses vary along the lines of โ€œI feel peaceful,โ€ โ€œI feel kind,โ€ or โ€œI feel happy.โ€ Liviโ€™s response for the last two weeks: โ€œI feel Nani.โ€ Nani = my nana, Liviโ€™s great-grandmother, and is the epitome of kind, peaceful and happy. Itโ€™s my goal to โ€œfeel Naniโ€ (or at least demonstrate a small portion of the love, energy and endless patience she has) on a daily basis.

Re: fall TV, I’m SO stoked that Scandal is just around the corner. Also, I guess The Mindy Project comes back tonight? Never seen it, but mage it’s time to start.

Iโ€™d want to hear about fitness events, and likely ask you to go paddleboarding or take a class with me. Iโ€™ve been fortunate to have three blog friends in my classes the past couple of days!

Do you have any fitness events on the horizon? Any intentions that you set for yourself each day? And lastly, red or white? ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a wonderful day and Iโ€™ll see you later <3

xoxo

I’m 21-weeks pregnant with our first and really enjoyed the full ultrasound last week to put my mind at ease. I never realized I wasn’t allowing myself to connect to the baby because of fear something would go wrong (or was already wrong). Now I feel myself starting to enjoy the moments and my growing body… I’m so grateful I came around! Interesting how our minds can get in the way sometimes.
I’m still enjoying 3 days of HIIT, full body conditioning and intermediate step class along with another workout at home and a few dog walks. I hope I can continue this through the holidays – very grateful for my current fitness level! But also trying to learn when it’s okay to say ‘no’.

    • RachelG on September 16, 2014 at 10:30 am

      congratulations, Stacey! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. RachelG on September 16, 2014 at 10:30 am

These posts are so cute/sweet/make me want a glass of Malbec ASAYesterday! lol.

I would tell you (and everyone) that I’m super stressed with working my full-time job, teaching an online college writing class, and taking an online class for a graduate certificate. This is the first time I’m doing all three at once and it’s definitely very intense. I’d tell you that I almost cancelled my massage appointment that I have for this Thursday because I felt like I should spend that time doing school work. However, I remembered something I learned in my Yoga Teacher Training…the thing you don’t want to do is probably the thing you NEED to do. Some people may not get it but I NEED to take an hour for myself this week to recharge and relax. I think that it will really help me get refocused and kick this literature review’s booty. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 10:38 am

thinking of you this week! hang in there. and yes, KEEP the massage ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxo

  3. Brynn on September 16, 2014 at 10:30 am

How sweet that Livi said she feels Nani. That gives me chills just reading it.
My fitness goals this week are simply to get up and get moving – 38 weeks pregnant and still trucking along. Lots of walks, but it is the perfect time of year to enjoy the scenery.
And right now I would take red or white! Ha!

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 10:37 am

hahaha! you’re almost there! that first glass afterwards tastes amaaaazing too ๐Ÿ™‚ so excited for you!

  4. Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious on September 16, 2014 at 10:35 am

Never too early for wine! If we were having wine, I would tell you how amazed I am that my first acupuncture took away almost all the pain in my calf my from my injury. I feel a myself coming back and my workouts are feeling good again.

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 10:36 am

that makes me so so happy ๐Ÿ™‚ it works wonders!

  5. Tracy @ sprinklesandsquats on September 16, 2014 at 10:53 am

Livi’s response is so cute! ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the thought of a little kiddo yoga class… something just seems adorably right about it haha.

So excited for fall TV! The Mindy Project is my faveee show – my husband loves it too! I love how down to earth Mindy Kaling seems, and she never fails to poke fun at herself. The show is really cleverly written.

Every morning, I remind myself that happiness is a choice. I think it’s very easy to feel a little down, frustrated, or anxious at times, especially during any kind of transition period (which I’m currently going through). By reminding myself of that every morning, I make a conscious effort to find the good in every situation, and I really think it helps!

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:22 pm

that is so very true. you choose how you feel <3 love that reminder

  6. Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries on September 16, 2014 at 10:57 am

Ohhh yes, I’m SO excited about Scandal’s return as well! Love that show.

I wish I could bike right over to your barre class again or take a BodyPump class you’re teaching!

Red vs. white wine? Totally depends on what I’m feelin’ or if I’m pairing it with something else.

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:21 pm

i wish you could help me with bodypump! haha

  7. Kaitlyn on September 16, 2014 at 11:10 am

I love this! I’m so excited about your new ebook, can’t wait to grab it up! And that comment about Liv and Nani is ADORABLE! Isn’t it amazing how kids can be insightful, even when they don’t realize it?

I would probably tell you about how I’m really struggling with going back to my Barre class. I really love it, but I took some time away from it (pure laziness, no real good excuse), and now I’m really nervous about going back. I just know that when I start over there, I’m going to feel like I did in my first class again (overwhelmed, sore, out of shape) and it makes me not look forward to it in the way that I should. I’m not someone who loves to exercise, and I always feel self-conscious at how out of shape I feel compared to others in my classes. I need to take that first step though, and soon.

Maybe thoughts of rewarding myself with glass of wine after class would help get me there ๐Ÿ˜‰ Red, of course.

    • Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed on September 16, 2014 at 11:37 am

I always get kind of anxious going back to CrossFit after I take a break. Don’t build it up to be something scary… you will feel happy to be back and proud of yourself!

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:21 pm

i think that sounds like a great reward ๐Ÿ™‚
let me know if you go for it! you’ll feel so great to get that first class out of the way. it is hard and intimidating to get back into something, but always feels much better after you go for it!
      xo

  8. Amanda @ Slimplify Life on September 16, 2014 at 11:17 am

I’d probably ask YOU to go to a Barre class with me because I have 0 idea what I am doing and am a bit intimidated by it.

Red wine, all the way. Drinking red wine while watching Scandal is my version of a great night =).

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:20 pm

don’t be intimidated! it’s a hard workout, but a lot of fun to try something new ๐Ÿ™‚ and yes, that is a great night indeed
      xo

So exciting you’re going to British Columbia! I go to university in New Jersey, but Victoria, BC is home for me, so I’m truly a west coast girl. Where all will you be visiting? If you need any advice on places to go, etc, feel free to ask! BC’s a beautiful place (in my opinion the best part of Canada, but I’m biased, of course), and there’s so much gorgeous scenery for hiking etc!

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:20 pm

i’m so excited to check it out! thank you!

  10. Hannah on September 16, 2014 at 11:27 am

I love these posts, and the comments! It made my day so much better to read this!

I’m also so glad that you all are as excited about Scandal as I am. Oh, and New Girl is TONIGHT. Life is crazy with 2 jobs and my last semester of classes, lots of travel, *and* looking for a job for after graduation, but I have a coffee date with a close friend today that will be wonderful! I’m trying to slow it down, not be too much of a perfectionist, and letting go of the daily stress.

I also got back into running after being sick and it feels wonderful! I love the motivation you bring to each post! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:19 pm

same- i love reading the comments!!
I CAN’T WAIT FOR SCANDAL. never got into new girl, but i love zoe. so happy you’re feeling better and back in the swing of things!

Red or white totally depends on my mood, the season and the food I’m eating. I love both! Excited to check out your new e-book. ๐Ÿ™‚

Right now I’m adjusting to a lot of changes in my life so I am simply trying to keep my focus and emphasize the positive at all times.

  12. Jacki on September 16, 2014 at 11:54 am

I would tell you that my friends and I just finished a summer of training and did the Imogene Pass Run in Colorado, so now we’re looking for our next big adventure. I’m leaning toward a road race that doesn’t involve climbing over a big ass mountain. I would also tell you that I’m going to British Columbia (Vancouver, specifically) in a few weeks. My husband and I got engaged there and I’m tagging along with him on a work trip this time. I would also tell you that I was in SD this weekend for a bachelorette party and the Point Loma Seafoods crab sandwich is what dreams are made of.

I’m a white drinker 80% of the time, but the temps are dropping in Flagstaff, so I’ll stock up on red now!

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:18 pm

      ahhhh LOVE POINT LOMA SEAFOOD

  13. Rebecca on September 16, 2014 at 11:56 am

    You’ve never been to Canada?!?!

Then again, I’ve never been to British Columbia (or any other province but Ontario/Quebec, lol). Next time, come to Ottawa!!

I’m running a half marathon this weekend – should be fun!

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:18 pm

good luck with your race ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you have a great trip ๐Ÿ™‚ Id also tell you to start watching the Mindy Project – It’s too funny/

  15. Amber on September 16, 2014 at 12:23 pm

I was just in Vancouver and it’s absolutely beautiful. I fell in love with the city and can’t wait to go back!

Last season of Parenthood starts soon and of course, The Voice! Love everything about the Fall. I live in San Diego too and am SO ready for some Fall weather already?! Holy heat!

Speaking of SD.. would love to come try out a barre class! Where do you teach?

I do not discriminate with wine- red or white! Going wine tasting in Napa this weekend so I’ve been having a nightly glass or two just to prepare ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:17 pm

haha building up the wine stamina ๐Ÿ™‚ enjoy your trip!
send me an email and i’ll send you the info. and yes, the heat and humidity have been terrible lately. ready for some cooler temps!

  16. Carly on September 16, 2014 at 12:32 pm

I too love these wine date posts!! I have my second 10K race on October 5th coming up – excited! but actually more excited for it to be over so I can get back to more yoga, pump, spin, shred… and other classes I’ve been neglecting for running. lol.

BC is certainly the best part of Canada to start with (and I’m not biased – I’m from Ontario!). You’ll enjoy it!

    Red wine for me ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:16 pm

that’s what i feel like for races, too. i enjoy them, but i like doing a mix of everything!

  18. Tracy on September 16, 2014 at 1:14 pm

I just love that she said “I feel Nani”. Precious! Did she come up with that on her own or do you use that phrase? So insightful of her to make the connection of her feelings that way!!

The Mindy Project: you must watch!!! Love that show. Also, if you haven’t read her book I highly recommend. You’ll feel like you’re her best friend while you read ๐Ÿ™‚

Red please and I’ll have a slice of that pizza, too ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:13 pm

she came up with it on her own. at first i was like “oh that’s sweet, she misses nani” but they i understood what she meant.
i’ve read her book but never watched the show! excited to see it!

Italy is always on the brain…you should see my pinterest boards. So much Italy. So much pasta.

Your ebook, um what?! That’s exactly what I need right now! And Mindy Project is exactly what you need right now. She just GETS me. (And I’m not just saying that because Mindy’s ethnic and single, although that is part of why she’s my spirit animal.) Really, though, you’ll love it!

  25. Vivian on September 16, 2014 at 2:07 pm

I’m doing the Air Force half marathon this weekend (it’s my second half; my first was the same event last year). I didn’t anticipate how hard it would be to train in Tucson over the summer, but I didn’t know we’d be living here when I signed up. I’m hoping the heat and altitude here will help when I go back to run in adjust a few short days.

Each day, I have the intention of being productive, but that doesn’t always work out. I intentionally set up early meetings and appointments when I can just to get me going in the morning. I know it will get better once I start working again.

I’m definitely a red kind of girl, although I do enjoy a good, sweet dessert wine occassionally.

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:11 pm

i’m the same way with wine ๐Ÿ™‚
good luck with your half!! where did you do most of your training in tucson? i’m sure that even though it sucks, training in the heat will help you on race day!

      • Vivian on September 16, 2014 at 8:34 pm

Thanks! I’ve done most of my running on base; it seems to be the safest way to go since my long runs are by myself (especially when it’s super early or after sunset). I really like Sabino, but the hubs asked me not to run up there during monsoon in case of flash flooding, and we’ve had a lot this summer (it’s crazy right now–we’re supposed to get like 3-6 inches over the next few days!). I can’t wait to get back up there soon!

  26. Jasmine on September 16, 2014 at 2:10 pm

If we were having a glass of wine right now (white for me), I’d tell you that my boyfriend and I can’t get enough of Weeds and Parks and Rec on Netflix. That Chris Pratt is one sexy man. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  31. Sara on September 16, 2014 at 2:58 pm

If we were having wine right now I would tell you that I am really enjoying focusing on taking care of myself. We have a 4 year old son and have a new 6 month old daughter whose adoption will be finalized on October 21st! It’s been a crazy year and a half and I have finally realized that I wasn’t treating my body and mind with care. I have started seeing a homeopathic doctor and he has helped tremendously. I feel normal again ๐Ÿ™‚

I would also say that I am trying to surround myself with positive/healthy/active people so I can maintain a good level for myself…I’ve been saying no to toxic people.

I would also say that although the “terrific” two’s can be tricky, they are full of wonder and joy…every step brings new challenges and gets easier and harder at the same time (in my opinion) So far the 4’s have been the most challenging for us…he has learned sarcasm!? (Woops!)

I also can’t wait for Scandal…I watch it on Netflix but I think I’m all caught up for now

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:08 pm

that is truly amazing. keep up the beautiful work you’re doing! <3
hahah it makes me laugh that he's using sarcasm. i've heard the fours are more interesting than the twos...

  32. Cassy @ Wine & Dine to the Finish Line on September 16, 2014 at 3:02 pm

Wine this early in the morning? Don’t mind if I do… I’m a white fan for the most part, but can be persuaded to come over to the dark side every once in a while ๐Ÿ˜‰

The only intention I usually set for myself each day is to try to find the happiness in each moment. There is a quote from “The Happiness Project” that I always think about when I’m in a “mood” that day. “There are times in the lives of most of us, when we would have given all the world to be as we were but yesterday, though that yesterday had passed over us unappreciated and unenjoyed.โ€ by William Edward Hartpole Lecky. I think it’s an important reminder that things can always be worse, so we should appreciate what we have now WHILE we have it.

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:07 pm

what a beautiful quote. i’m saving that one <3

  33. Deanne on September 16, 2014 at 3:10 pm

BC girl right here! The weather is a little bit crazy we had a solid week of fall. Rain, cool weather, leaves turning, cats cuddling, and it was great and now it’s hot again (23-28 Celsius). But soon there will be birds to photograph and sweaters to wear so I am a little excited. The owls will be back and the Eagles too! Sure the rain will suck but it’s BC, don’t bring an umbrella those just poke eyes out. Wear flip flops and enjoy it.

My guess is you’ll be in Vancouver or Whistler since those are the main BC destinations. If you could only do one thing in BC I would suggest getting on a boat and going into the Straight. The best views are out there and so are the whales. The next would be driving to Whistler, the Sea to Sky is beautiful. I also like the Hope-Princton to Manning Park.

I watched Wild Obsessions last night on Animal Planet and it was on Eagles. Was supper excited to see that it was in BC’s Fraser Valley. All the locations I recognized, places I go to to photograph wildlife regularly. So neat to see others enjoying your back yard. Looking forward to your posts on BC. Just hope the weather isn’t to typical BC for your trip. It can be hard to see the mountains thru the clouds.

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:07 pm

thank you so much for the tips! i’m so excited to check it out ๐Ÿ™‚ i love the idea to wear flip flops and enjoy it; sounds perfect since we haven’t had any rain here!

  34. Erika S. on September 16, 2014 at 3:11 pm

I’m def more into red these days. If you like the sweeter red wine, the Josef Handler Sweet Red at Trader Joes is my fave! I also always have room for a bellini (or two) which are perfect for the mornings…especially when you work from home!

I was supposed to start my 15K training last week but put it off…so this is week 1. I’m excited to get back into the swing of things and have been challenging myself to drink a lot more water. So far so good

  35. Faye Holloway on September 16, 2014 at 3:16 pm

I would tell you how sad I am that I might not get to do the Nike Women’s Half that I’ve been training for. I was out on my long run two Saturdays ago and halfway in my heel was hurting every time I lifted it. My run was going so well I didn’t want stop so I went about a mile more until i had to stop. I haven’t been able to run since and every day I’m panicking that this won’t heal in time for the race. It will be so disappointing to have put in all that work and not get to run the race.

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:06 pm

ahhh that is such a bummer ๐Ÿ™ even though it’s sad to not be able to do something you trained for, it’s so much better to take the time you need to heal and recover so you can have a better race next time. that being said, i know how hard it is though. hang in there and hope your heel gets better soon.

I’ve been doing yoga 5-6 days a week on top of nursing school, and that keeps me sane ๐Ÿ™‚ Although last night I took a sculpt class and I had a hard time cooling off after. Just pre-ordered two of your books; so excited for you. I think you need to do some exercise dvds next. I miss your training! Excited for the e-book too!
I’ve just started Jillian’s new Shred dvd. I’m trying to get the nerve to quit my 8-5 desk job. Want to open a Barre Studio here and/ or a healthy cafรฉ. Signing up for a small business class next month, since I know nothing about business !!

Love all of Livi’s comments; can’t get any sweeter!

I would tell you that I’m super sad my dad just left to go back home today. I really hate living far away from my family sometimes.

I’d also tell you that Livi is adorable and I love that bell story. ๐Ÿ˜€

By the number of comments you’ve received, you can see this is a fun one. While I’d love to have a real wine date with you … I’ll tell you I’m not picky and do white or red. I’d also tell you I need to start learning BODYATTACK and BODYPUMP to launch next week, and I haven’t even watched them once yet. I’ve been teaching for a while, so I learn them quickly, but it looks like I’ll be cramming this time. I’d also tell you I love your blog and have followed for a long time and would LOVE to read your ebooks. Have an awesome Tuesday:)

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 7:00 pm

thank you so much, friend! let me know what you think of the new bodypump. i’m excited to learn it!

  47. Lisa L. on September 16, 2014 at 6:34 pm

Almost always red, except for those hot summer evenings that just call out for a nice, crisp, cool white ๐Ÿ™‚

The 2’s are kicking my butt right now! I feel like I’m doing just about everything wrong. I have some parenting books I want to read but I fear that by the time I actually finish them, it’ll be too late to do any good. However, we have a sweet new bedtime routine involving the two of us dancing while I sing her a lullaby, and she has crafted the most effective bedtime stall ever: “More kisses, mama?”

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2014 at 6:59 pm

i’m glad i’m not alone!! it’s been pretty intense.. and the stalls before bedtime crack me up. love the “more kisses.” my requests are usually “new water” and “read another book” haha

  48. Jessie on September 16, 2014 at 10:13 pm

If we were having wine, a sweet white one ๐Ÿ™‚ …. I’d ask to hear more cute stories about Livi, talk about the finance degree we both have (and how awesome they make us!), good books we’ve been reading (Someday, Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls/Parenthood & The Power of Habit) about how I’m trying to encourage my teammates at work to make healthier choices.

Love the Mindy Project, makes me so happy! I ready Mindy’s book last year, she is just too fun!

Thank you for always keeping it real!

  49. Krystal on September 16, 2014 at 10:22 pm

New Girl & Mindy Project…watch them, yessss.

  50. Leah on September 17, 2014 at 12:02 am

I would love to have a wine date with you (white please.. Red causes headaches .. Boo as it’s so yummy!). I’d probably love to have a workout date over wine with you though! If we had time to chat, I’d love to dre about Italy together. I’ve only been to Venice but it was amazing. Would love to take my kids one day.
Love hearing Livi stories. She’s so cute!
BC will be great! I’m in Seattle and love going up there. I hope you blog about your travels. We’ve done some neat whale watching near Sydney BC.
I’d also tell you I’m already tired from
Back to school routine. Mama’s taxi service here!
Congrats on book! I pre ordered the fitness one and am excited to get it.
