Ever since menโ€™s-inspired large watches started to become popular (last fall), I was kind of skeptical. I have small wrists so a lot of them looked like *too much* on me, I use my cell phone to check the time, and Iโ€™ve just never really been a watch girl. The only watch I wear on a regular basis is this one: my Polar FT40 heart rate monitor to the gym ๐Ÿ™‚

polar

Now, the watches are still going strong and none of my rings fit me, Iโ€™m thinking maybe instead of investing in a small wedding band to prove I am indeed married, I think Iโ€™d like a watch ๐Ÿ˜‰ That way Iโ€™ll still be able to wear it when my rings fit me again, and all through the winter.

I LOVE the first brown watch because it will match everything, the classic silver because all of my jewelry is platinum or white gold, and the rose gold watch is just unique and elegant. Having a tough time decidingโ€ฆ

Are you a watch girl? Or do you check your cell phone like me?

I have the silver one, except it has arabic numerals instead of roman and I LOVE it. Get compliments all the time and it instantly pulls together any outfit. GET ONE! ๐Ÿ™‚

you’re really twisting my arm over here ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Lindsey on September 9, 2011 at 5:27 pm

Check my cell too! I have a nice watch but never wear it, they don’t suit me plus I have small wrists so they always look too big on me I think!

  3. Kim on September 9, 2011 at 5:28 pm

I love Michael Kors watches! Have 3 of them! I am a watch addict! I haven’t seen the brown one yet…..shopping!

    • Fitnessista on September 9, 2011 at 5:29 pm

not a huge brown person but loving that watch, the brown metal is just eye catching!

  4. laura on September 9, 2011 at 5:38 pm

Watches have been growing on me over the last couple years…my husband and his fam are really into them (his parents gave me gucci watch as a “welcome to the family” gift) and rocky loves to gift me one vs other jewelry… i love my growing collection…its true, like the other laura said, it really can pull an outfit together! i have small wrists as well but that just makes the watch more eye catching! you have some great ones to choose from,,,

  5. Emily @ Glitz Glam Granola on September 9, 2011 at 5:39 pm

I rarely wear a watch to look at it, but I have a gorgeous white one that I wear as an accessory and then still look at my phone for the time! I think the rose gold one is really pretty but I think it might be too trendy and go out soon! I’d go for the brown (really fun and still trendy) or the silver (timeless)! Happy shopping!

  6. Melissa on September 9, 2011 at 5:41 pm

I JUST bought a gold Michael Kors watch…this one, to be exact:

    http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/michael-kors-jet-set-sport-watch/3038023

I LOVE it, and get compliments on it every time I wear it. I think it’s a great idea to get a larger watch like this – – – it really does stand out, especially on small/delicate wrists. The first one (brown) is so cute!

  7. Lauren A. on September 9, 2011 at 5:41 pm

I have a gold Michael Kors watch and I absolutely LOVE IT. I get so many complements on it, it is fashionable an I can easily check the time. I think you should get the brown one! It’s so cute!

  8. Liz @ Southern Charm on September 9, 2011 at 5:42 pm

I’m not a watch girl whatsoever, however, like you I’ve noticed the watch trend. I avoided the trend until about two weeks ago when I came across a Michael Kors watch for 90$ on editorscloset.com. It was PERFECT for me. It isn’t the chain links (I have baby wrists and cannot wear adult size bracelets), its white, well almost cream, and has a touch of the rose gold.

Now I’m a watch person … although, I have yet to use the watch for time. Maybe I just check my phone out of habit? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. Shelley @Blonde Ambition on September 9, 2011 at 5:43 pm

Hi Gina! What do you think of the Polar F40? I’ve had a Polar F10 for ever (i dont think they even make them anymore). Anywho- I also have a Garmin watch (that is really difficult to use) for gps running, etc. What heart rate monitors do you recommend (including gps and non gps) Thanks!

  10. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on September 9, 2011 at 5:44 pm

I have a really nice watch that I bought myself about 6-7 years ago. It will be with me for the rest of my life. And after that, Skylar’s life ๐Ÿ™‚

I used to wear it every day but now, I seem to let it sit in my jewelry box next to my wedding ring (don’t wear that either!)…what can I say, I leave the house in yoga pants, a tshirt, and flipflops. And my cell phone ๐Ÿ™‚

Need to start wearing my jewelry again.

And you can rock any watch you want. Go for it!

  11. Lisa @ Fresh Spinach on September 9, 2011 at 5:46 pm

I’m in LOVE with that first brown watch! If you don’t get it, I will!

  12. Amy on September 9, 2011 at 5:50 pm

I’m not a watch person. The only times I’ve ever worn a watch regularly was when I was doing research in the cardiovascular physiology lab while I was in graduate school and when I was working in a clinical setting as an Exercise Physiologist. The rest of the time I’ve used a cell phone, a stop watch that I kept in my backpack or a small clock on my desk.

  13. Jen @familyfoodfitnessandfun on September 9, 2011 at 5:51 pm

Ohhh..those are purdy! I got a silver one last year from Guess and I love it, it goes with everything.

  14. Renata on September 9, 2011 at 5:57 pm

My hubby told me about MK’s watches, they’re kinda cute. But I have a question for you…have you ever done any reviews on heart-rate monitors? I’m thinking of purchasing one, and I trust your judgement… ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Amelia on September 9, 2011 at 6:02 pm

I have two rose gold MK watches, one with bling and one that’s men inspired. I love them both!

  16. Angela @ Momethis on September 9, 2011 at 6:08 pm

I dig the silver one. I’ve had a Movado for 7 years but couldnt where it while I was prego. I got used to not wearing one so now I just check my phone. :0)

  17. lisa @ tequilacupcakes on September 9, 2011 at 6:10 pm

I’m so not a watch person, but I’m dying for a chunky boyfriend watch in silver. They look so sexy and classic!

  18. LeeAnn on September 9, 2011 at 6:18 pm

I may be a little obsessed with big watches! They are awesome!!! I wear a watch every day…so I say…go for it!

  19. Nicole on September 9, 2011 at 6:31 pm

I have a gold Michael Kors Chronograph (the 5055) and I LOVE IT. I was not previously a watch person but figured I’d invest in a nice one. I’ve had it for about a month and now I always check my wrist for the time, even if I’m not wearing it. I’ve never been a huge gold fan but I’ve been loving it more and more lately, and I really think the men’s-inspired watches look great in gold so I snatched it up! My second choice would have been rose gold.

  20. Stacy on September 9, 2011 at 6:35 pm

I got this awesome Michael Kors watch that I SWORE I absolutely NEEDED…. but who am I kidding? I’m completely a cell phone checking kinda girl… and have yet to wear it once in the YEAR I’ve had it. Oh life, you’re a funny one ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, that first one you posted is GORGEOUS!

  21. Ida on September 9, 2011 at 6:36 pm

I would LOVE a nice watch, but since I’m always on the computer or have my phone it just doesnt seem necessary. Plus what I really want is an antique Rolex, so cell phone it is!

  22. kirsten on September 9, 2011 at 6:39 pm

Oooh love the brown one!! I just bought the two tone silver and gold MK one and I love it! You get used to the size of it really quickly. TWSS? lol.

  23. Holly @ The Runny Egg on September 9, 2011 at 6:40 pm

I was actually thinking about watches on my way home from work — I’m thinking of getting Jason a nice one for Christmas, but then I thought about getting one for myself too! I’m a phone checker but I like the look of some watches.

  24. Alicia F. on September 9, 2011 at 6:43 pm

I’m not a watch person, the hubby is (he has like 5 of them) always looking at watches, it drives me crazy sometimes. lol I want to get one, but I’m a bit apprehensive as to what I like and what style to get. Great ideas!

  25. Leana on September 9, 2011 at 6:56 pm

I have an idea for your wedding ring situation! Get a plain necklace, and wear your rings on it! I saw a lil pregnant lady at work the other day sportin’ the look ๐Ÿ™‚ As for the watch…… its love hate. Days I might find utilizing a arm clock handy, I don’t have one. And then there’s days I wear one and things are going suuuuppperrrr slow at work and I am constantly gazing at it…. “its only been 5 minutes?!! ajf;akldsjf;dskjf?!?!!” -solution epiphany: wear a broken watch! lol ๐Ÿ˜‰

  26. Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) on September 9, 2011 at 7:02 pm

I’m a cell phone checker, all the way. Though if I had to choose a watch out of those three, I think the silver one is fantastic– totally classic and would go with everything!

  27. Ashley on September 9, 2011 at 7:18 pm

I love love love gold watches!! Especially rose gold…but I do hate how it clashes with my wedding ring :/

  28. Emmy on September 9, 2011 at 7:22 pm

I have the MK one you posted in silver. I love it, and it’s my first real watch. I chose the silver because it matches my platinum wedding rings. Rose gold is beautiful too though. Let us know what you get! I feel like a lot of us will be living vicariously through you, haha!

  29. Kristie on September 9, 2011 at 7:26 pm

I’m definitely more of a skinny, girly watch girl… but I like the rose colored one!

  30. Maria on September 9, 2011 at 7:29 pm

I check my phone but I am loving these watches!! I would definitely invest in this and buy a cheap ring to wear while you’re pregnant. I’m about to go overseas, not taking my ring over but yet want ppl to know that I am married so I’m buying just a little fake ring from like macys or something. Spend the money on the watch.

  31. Gina on September 9, 2011 at 7:30 pm

You should totally get a watch! I used to just check the time on my phone, but then I decided I wanted one of the big, trendy watches last year. Now I LOVE it; it’s so convenient to always know the time. I ended up going with silver (Michael Kors, similar to the one you showed), and I wear it every day with casual or fancy clothes. I think you would be surprised how much you like it….

  32. Christina @ The Athletarian on September 9, 2011 at 7:32 pm

I am obsessed with watches. I have FIVE (yes five) Michael Kors oversized watches and I love them all. I never used to wear one until I got my first one and then it became an addiction and I bought four more. Not all at the same time though haha.

  33. Sana on September 9, 2011 at 7:37 pm

Cell phone girl!!! I hate the water icky feel!

    • Sana on September 9, 2011 at 7:41 pm

You know when you wash your hands and the water is trapped between your skin and your hands!

  34. Ashley E. on September 9, 2011 at 8:15 pm

I have been thinking about getting one of these exact watches for a while now…I especially love the rose gold…you may have just convinced me I need one!

  35. Tess on September 9, 2011 at 8:28 pm

I have the Michael Kors tortoiseshell watch from last year and I’m in love with it. I never want to wear another one. Seriously, if I owned a…I don’t know, a Patek Phillipe or an A. Lange & Sohne watch, I would choose my Michael Kors over it. I think I like the brown best! It seems menswear-inspired, but with the perfect little feminine touch.

  36. Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries on September 9, 2011 at 9:04 pm

I’ve never been much of a watch girl myself until the men-inspired large watches came out… I love them. I ended up getting one similar to the second picture because like you, most of my jewelry is white gold. I don’t wear it all the time because it still feels weird sometimes, but I really like it. You definitely should get one!

  37. Ashlee on September 9, 2011 at 9:06 pm

My wrists are small as well, so I went with the Michele “Urban Mini” diamond. It’s perfectly proportioned to get that oversized look w/o being too big. If you shop around online, you may be able to find the plain steel model for a reasonable price- $300-400. Nordies Rack is awesome for Michele’s at a discount too.

  38. Emily on September 9, 2011 at 9:07 pm

I have had my Michael kors watch for 3 years now and love it!! My fiancรฉ said he would buy me another one but the only problem is I can’t decide which one! I like the gold and white! What I really need is a michele watch, (1300$$) that way I could just change the bands… Fiancรฉ won’t go for that tho ๐Ÿ™

  39. Gina @ Running to the Kitchen on September 9, 2011 at 9:08 pm

I just got an all white fossil “big” watch that I’m absolutely in love with. I have very small wrists too and I think it looks fine so I think you should go for it! I love that first one.

  40. chelsea on September 9, 2011 at 9:41 pm

I have a watch but I rarely wear it. I actually don’t really care for any jewelry period lol.

  41. Angie on September 9, 2011 at 10:12 pm

I have 3 of them and am obsessed!!! i also have 2 really big fossil watches, one white and one silver with crystals around the face ๐Ÿ™‚ LOVE big watches!!

  42. Chelsea on September 9, 2011 at 10:13 pm

    LOVE the first one!

  43. Brittany on September 9, 2011 at 10:14 pm

I am definitely a cell phone girl, but I love watches. I just wear them for accessory not necessarily to check the time. Whenever I’m wearing a watch I usually still look at my phone, I’m not even sure why!

  44. Maria@La_Piattini on September 9, 2011 at 10:39 pm

I was never a watch person. A few years ago though I randomly got obsessed with a Coach watch and got it for my birthday. I wore it for a while, but then I just couldn’t get used to it. It bothered my wrist (cyst there) and I haven’t worn it since!

  45. Pinky on September 9, 2011 at 10:41 pm

I love love love my white fossil watch. I wear it EVERYDAY and it really jazzes up any outfit. It isn’t the OVERSIZED version so maybe an alternative if you aren’t 100% on the big watch bandwagon.

  46. Jess T on September 9, 2011 at 10:55 pm

I wear a watch buuuuut I use my cell phone to check the time. Yeah, it’s silly.

  47. Ali @ urbanfruitbat on September 9, 2011 at 11:30 pm

I used to wear a watch, but I would loop it through the belt loop on my pants instead of wearing it around my wrist. Now, I like you, just have a cell phone. Not so useful when you are out working out and don’t have pockets for it though!

  48. Sarah on September 9, 2011 at 11:33 pm

I am most definitely a watch person! For a while I was only a cell phone checker, until my boyfriend and I began a long distance relationship. I realized that when flying back and forth from DC to LA, not wearing a watch and being unable to check the time on my powered-down phone made me unable to tell whether I had been flying for one hour or four hours! It drove me nuts, so I started wearing a watch. Now two and a half years later, we’re together in California and I’m still hooked on watches. All colors, some expensive, some cheap, but all men’s!

  49. Mindy on September 9, 2011 at 11:39 pm

I actually got the Rose Gold MK one for my birthday and I love it. The shape is square so it gives it a unique look and has tiny crystals marking the numbers. Buttt….. you can never go wrong with brown! I wear it too much… if that’s possible ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Fitnessista on September 9, 2011 at 11:40 pm

i always wear brown, too ๐Ÿ™‚

  50. Alexa on September 9, 2011 at 11:53 pm

Hey Gina! Thanks for reppin our man ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve worked for Michael for 5 years. Its always nice to see excitement around our beautiful pieces! ๐Ÿ™‚

Get a MK watch. U won’t be dissapoined.

    • Fitnessista on September 9, 2011 at 11:56 pm

i will be proud to rep your man ๐Ÿ™‚
i’m thinking of going for the espresso….
