10 Days of Giveaways: Day 5 (Gymboss)

Last giveaway of week 1! This one is a product I’ve used for a few years now: Gymboss.

As you guys know, I’m a huge fan of HIIT training and interval-style workouts. I like to time different segments as it’s a great way to change things up and really challenge myself. (Like when I increased the HIIT time from 30-40 seconds hard the other day— it killed me in the best way possible.) I have a timer app on my phone, which is fine to use at home, but when I’m at the gym, guess where my phone is? In a locker. When I go to the gym, I have a small amount of time to get in and get out, and I like to do it without the distraction of a phone. If I have it, I’m much more tempted to check my email, see what people are saying on Twitter, aka waste time.

It’s extremely user-friendly, and has a few sound settings. My favorite is to clip it on my shirt and set it on vibrate, so it doesn’t distract other gym-goers. I’ve also used it while teaching classes, especially since the resort is cell phone free and it looks more professional to use an actual timer. It’s one of my favorite workout tools, especially because it’s so inexpensive, and it makes a perfect stocking stuffer for a fitness-loving friend. They recently released some cool new colors, too!

    My favorite cardio is definitely HIIT, but since reading your blog, I’ve tried and fallen in love with zumba! Thanks for the introduction! Its a fun way to kill my workout!

    I have to say my favourite mode of Cardio is running just because I’ve learned how to challenge myself. I am definitely warming up to interval training though and hope to set some goals around it in 2014.

    my favorite pure cardio is a 3ish mile run outside. I get some fresh air, listen to new music or a podcast, and sweat!

    I love HIIT and Tabata even more. This is perfect for me. Though I use my phone app a lot since all of my workouts are done at home. It would be good for running since I don’t like to run with my phone. I’m one of the few people on the face of the earth not on fb. So this is all I’ve got. Thanks for the giveaways!

    I love sprints in the treadmill
    I do 2 min jog 1 min sprint and repeat 10 times for 30 min. Goes by so quick!

    I’ve been doing a spin class weekly and I love it and look forward to it every week. It helps mix up my cardio from running and the stepmill (stepmill is a close 2nd to favorite–hurts so good!)

    I love kickboxing! Really, I love to try all forms of cardio to find what works best for me at that time. Exercise keeps me sane!

    I love spin and tabatas! I use the gym boss app on my phone! This would be perfect for our home gym! We just ordered a spin bike!

    HIIT is my absolute favorite to get in a quick, intense and effective workout! The gymboss would be a perfect substitute for my phone, which I also hate taking with me to the gym.

    I LOVE long jogs on the trail. When I’m short for time, I’ve been loving the row machine as well as your quick HIIT workout routines.

    I used a tabata timer app on my phone yesterday, and it just got way too complicated trying to set that, plus manage my Pandora app, plus get interrupted if my phone rang.
