Protein ice cream

Hiiiiii ๐Ÿ˜€ How are you? Hope your day has been fabulous! Thank you for the readerโ€™s request ideas- I should have a new RR post up on Friday ๐Ÿ™‚

I started mine off with a crazyawesome BodyPump class:

bodypump

Itโ€™s been a while since Iโ€™ve made it to a class and wowzersโ€ฆ I felt it.

Protein replenishment in ice cream form:

ice cream

My new fave mix:

-1 C frozen organic strawberries

-1/2 C frozen organic blueberries

-1 C-ish almond milk

-1 scoop nasty Dr. protein + 1 scoop beautiful Sun Warrior protein

-1 T decaf instant coffee

-1 T raw cacao powder

-cinnamon, pinch of sea salt, raw honey

Coffee and berries are a match made in heaven, I promise ๐Ÿ™‚

I ran errands all day (and still have so much to do), sold a giant bag of clothes at Buffalo Exchange (my rule is when I buy new clothes, I also dig through the closet to find clothes to sell or donate), and picked up Abreva at Target for my heinous cold sore. It just appeared out of NOWHERE this morning- not a fan ๐Ÿ™

The cold sore had no effect on my foodgasm face, though ๐Ÿ˜€

sp spaghetti

Sweet potato spaghetti!

All I did was spiralize a huge organic sweet potato with the spiralizer,

spiralizer

and steam the *noodles* for 5 minutes, so they still had a slight crunch to them.

noodles

Covered in TJs marinara and nutritional yeast, it was a perfect blend of savory and sweet.

Iโ€™ve got to get ready to teach โ€“fingers crossed for a HUGE class tonight!- and then get back to work ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great night and Iโ€™ll see ya tomorrow with a macaroon giveaway and my re-cap of the first 10 days of the Doctor Detox.

xoxo,

Gina

*We find out ANY day between now and mid Feb where weโ€™re going to be stationed!! Iโ€™m so nervous/excited ๐Ÿ™‚

****Winter Shape Up warriors, howโ€™s it going this week?!

Something to think:

โ€œThe longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.โ€

Macaroon giveaway what1?! I will be here! I love sweet potatoes and I usually like to eat them as a savory dish so this is awesome. Good luck on the class and the station assignment!

I used to get cold sores A TON but then didn’t get them for like three years..then all of a sudden last week one popped up on my lip and I looked so gross. I was vegan for like two years and that’s when I got them the most, then I started eating dairy again and I hadn’t had one since last week. Maybe stress or something, I don’t even know if dairy is related to it. ANYWAY. I am babbling. Try getting a lysine supplement and the Abreva usually works wonders for me. I took a bunch of lysine and Abreva-d it to death and it only lasted a week. Good luck! <3

This is going to sound like a weird question. But, how happy are you with your Joyce Chen spirooli? I ask bc I have a Paderno Spirooli (http://www.ultimate-weight-products.com/H-WC-SPIRAL.html) which most people prefer, but I miss my old Joyce Chen one, only bc I like thinner pasta strands ๐Ÿ™‚

If you’d ever like to trade, let me know!

I’m crossing my fingers for you that you end up stationed where you want!

I think this post has confirmed to me that I need a spiralizer! That SP pasta looks good. ๐Ÿ˜€

  12. shannonmarie on February 3, 2011 at 7:59 am

Oh yummy, sweet potato noodles. I haven’t had those in ages. Thanks for reminding me about them. Maybe I’ll have them for dinner tonight.

Sounds like your detox menu isn’t all that bad … except for the nasty protein powder. What’s in that stuff?

    • Fitnessista on February 3, 2011 at 9:48 am

it’s rice protein + a variety of plant and vegetables

Whenever my best friend gets a cold sore, I sing the “Herpes…you have HERPES” song to her. I’m a good friend ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck on being stationed somewhere you love!

Sweet potato pasta looks to die for! I really need a spiralizer. And I love that quote ๐Ÿ™‚

    xo

  15. Jessica @ Fruit and Veggie Tales on February 3, 2011 at 8:12 am

I have a spiralizer question….I have that particular spiralizer, but my veggie noodles always come out looking more like a long comb and not really separated like noodles? Does that make sense? Anyway, am I doing something wrong or is that how they are supposed to be? Your noodles always look more noodly than mine ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a good day!

    • Fitnessista on February 3, 2011 at 9:47 am

do you have the same type of spiralizer or is it different?

  16. Jamie on February 3, 2011 at 8:37 am

  18. Mo on February 3, 2011 at 9:09 am

Ah, spirulize sweet potato . . . wonderful idea. I will definitely try that! Love sweet potatoes, especially in winter. And we just got over a foot of snow dumped on us! My poor puppy can’t do his business without his parts buried in snow. Take care.

    • Fitnessista on February 3, 2011 at 9:46 am

poor little guy!! it’s freezing here too, but no snow. stay warm, friend!

  19. Nicole on February 3, 2011 at 9:35 am

What a good idea! I’m making this soon. My spiralizer doesn’t get enough use.

  20. Meagan on February 3, 2011 at 10:10 am

I saw this last night and immediately tried it. How brilliant! I love pasta but had to stop eating it and I can’t stand whole wheat pasta. This is going to become a staple from now on, thank you so much!

    • Fitnessista on February 3, 2011 at 10:30 am

awesome!! i’m glad you liked it ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. Kat on February 3, 2011 at 10:28 am

I am loving your food posts on the Detox Diet – I have to do a mostly vegan diet for some thyroid cancer treatments in the next few weeks and your meals are actually things I can eat! Very happy to be back to blogging and for your blog, Gina ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Fitnessista on February 3, 2011 at 11:24 am

thanks girl <3 sending love and healing vibes your way

  23. LisaG on February 3, 2011 at 11:24 am

I love that quote. I wonder if you could make shoestring french fries with those sweet potatoes? I think so.

  24. Shari on February 3, 2011 at 1:31 pm

I used to get cold sores all the time, I don’t now. I started taking L-Lysine everyday. It worked for me I no longer get cold sores.

  25. Rachel A on February 3, 2011 at 6:40 pm

Thanks for mentioning your cold sore. I’ve got one too right now, and I feel hideous. At least I know I’m not alone!!!

  26. Leslie on February 5, 2011 at 12:45 pm

YUM, sweet pototato pasta. Hadn’t thought of that one! Great ideas.

  27. Leslie Wingate on June 17, 2011 at 11:34 pm

Oh my heck! This is freakin’ genius! I’ve lost 77lb over the past 15 months by changing my eating and exercising more. I’ll eat sweet potatoes any way I can so I’m IN LOVE with this. Spiralizer is on my list. Thanks for sharing, and congrats on your new way of living. I love the photo to the left of you with the dumbbell. I’m wanting to be strong and fit. You should be so proud!

  28. Mary on December 29, 2011 at 7:48 pm

I just wanted to let you know that tea tree oil dabbed on a cold sore when you feel the tingling, takes it away! It is a blessing. Thanks for the wonderful recipes:)

  29. Ellen (Gluten Free Diva) on February 11, 2012 at 12:20 pm

I just bought this Joyce Chen spiralizer at a thrift store, came home, cleaned it, spiraled a sweet potato then googled recipes and found yours. So simple, so easy, so delicious-looking. I’m going to make it for lunch after I work out. Thank you! And thanks for the quote. So true!

  30. Valerie on August 3, 2012 at 6:18 pm

I love spaghetti more than just about anything. I don’t have a spiralizer. When I make zucchini “noodles” I use my veggie peeler and peel thin strips off. Do you think that would work with a sweet potato?
