{Video Post} FAQs

Hi friends ๐Ÿ˜€ How are you? Hope youโ€™re having a fabulous morning.

Hereโ€™s the little FAQ video we wanted to do for you guys ๐Ÿ™‚ (The list of questions we picked from were on *this post*)

The topics we chose for this video:

-Our ethnicities

-Do we do a joint bank account or separate?

-The Pilotโ€™s tips for someone about to start pilot training

-How I decide what to blog and what not to blog

-Food we couldnโ€™t live without

-Who hogs the covers

-Future family plans

Only one futon was hurt in the making of this ๐Ÿ˜‰ <— blooper at the end

Some more Q & A fun:

image

It would seem counterintuitive, because my Pilot eats enough for a family of 4, but Iโ€™m MORE motivated the workout and eat well when heโ€™s home. Remember the whole โ€œfeeling like a nunโ€ think I mentioned while heโ€™s away? Well since I donโ€™t have to worry about that when heโ€™s home, it makes me want to eat better and workout ;)

image

I don’t have a *regular* workout routine- I think thatโ€™s what causes boredom to set in (I get bored so easily!) and keeps me from getting stuck in a rut. Sunday is pretty much my planning day- Iโ€™ll plan out my workout schedule for the week, meals for the week (just dinner ideas + a few lunches, bfasts are pretty standard over here), and tentative blog ideas for the week.

As far as the workout thang goes, I almost always dance at least 5x per week. Iโ€™ll combine in some weights (or Bodyrock) and yoga according to what my schedule is like. Iโ€™ve found that weights/Bodyrock dance and yoga is a great mix for me right now ๐Ÿ™‚

I really do believe that living a vegan lifestyle is the best thing one can do for the planet. However, it can be very, very difficult for some people to get the nutrients they need on a vegan diet. Iโ€™m one of those people. My body doesnโ€™t thrive on a totally vegan diet, but does extremely well on a high plant-based diet with a sprinkle of goat cheese, fish, eggs and very occasional chicken thrown in. [You can read more about why I decided to bring chicken back *here*]

I figure that since I choose not to be a full-time vegan, by eating vegan-ish sometimes, and using my shopping cart as my voting ballot โ€“if thereโ€™s a certified organic option, I always buy that over conventional- thatโ€™s my way of helping the planet and my body.

Pilot: I donโ€™t mind at all. It really doesnโ€™t affect me because she usually makes a โ€œpilotโ€ version of the food sheโ€™s eating (i.e. adding chicken or other organic meats to the meal). Other than that, I donโ€™t mind eating meatless now and then because a lot of those foods are so healthy and Iโ€™m pretty open to new foods.

image

Iโ€™m so sorry to hear that you were in a similar situation. Mine was pretty traumatizing, and it took me probably a year after dating the Pilot until I was โ€œnormalโ€ again. My self esteem was so messed up, and when I first started seeing the Pilot, I put up a lot of walls. I was so afraid of getting hurt again, and thought for sure that he was โ€œtoo nice.โ€ I kept waiting for him to go pyschopath like my previous boyfriend, but it obviously never happened ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think my biggest piece of advice is to be patient with yourself. I also really wish I would have practiced yoga at that time in my life because I think it would have helped me. The Pilot is the kindest, most patient person Iโ€™ve ever met, so he was extra sweet and patient with me which helped my fear of commitment to melt away, until I became myself again.

Just be confident that thereโ€™s someone out there that will make you feel like a queen, and help you get through and forget the hurt youโ€™ve been through <3

image

No. Hahaha. Iโ€™ve begged, but I think the most Iโ€™ll get out of him is โ€œspectator.โ€

Well weโ€™re off to meet with the realtor! See ya later today ๐Ÿ™‚

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about:

Your turn! ๐Ÿ˜€

-Food you canโ€™t live without

-Do you -or would you choose to, if youโ€™re not attached- roll with joint or separate bank accounts?

-How many kids do you want?

Thank you for sharing, that was so cute!!!
And like one of your reader’s questions, I’ve also been through some horrible relationships that have scarred me.. it’s realllllly hard for me to trust. But that gives me hope that one day, it’ll be ok!

    • Fitnessista on March 29, 2011 at 8:35 pm

it will be, i promise ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Jill on March 29, 2011 at 7:31 pm

The food I couldn’t live without right NOW would be ambrosia apples–I eat them every single day! But I have lots of phases with foods, and my top ones that I would shrivel up and die without would be quinoa, spaghetti, pizza, and tea. Actually make tea number one, tea makes my life work.

I would like to have a joint account with my boyfriend. We live together and I would like to just share money (can you tell he makes more money than me, hahah)–but really, even if I made more money than him I think it just makes more sense. As for kids, I would ideally like to have 3. That’s what we have in my own family, and I really like the dynamics of the 5-person family.

And I TOTALLY hog the covers (and if I’m hot, I’ll pull them all onto me and then kick them all off the end of the bed).

  3. Gina on March 29, 2011 at 7:35 pm

That blooper was epic. Haha! Loved the video ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Michelle C on March 29, 2011 at 7:38 pm

    1. You guys are adorbs.
    2. I can’t WAIT for pictures of your goat.
    3. I brought that sweatshirt because I had total sweatshirt envy from the last picture you put on your blog of it. True story. I stalked it on the lulu site so often that when my roommie caught me oggling it in the store she yelled at me to buy it.
    4. The pilot gives me hope that one day i’ll find a guy that really doesn’t care that i’m vegetarian. I seem to only attract guys that think it’s a quirk that i’ll eventually give up. (I’ve been veggie since I was 14 – so for 16 years.)
    5. I could not live without pizza. My love for it is actually pretty sad. ๐Ÿ™‚
    6. I worry that I won’t love kids as much as my dog. Kidding! Sort of…

  5. aj on March 29, 2011 at 7:46 pm

I loved the post. The pilot is truly adorable and sweet!

I would have a hard time living without bagels. Bread in general is good, but I can go a long time without eating a piece. Its the bagels that do me in. Soft chewy inside, crispy outside… yum!

I have done a lot of babysitting in the past and the more I see other kids, the more I think one is plenty : ) But realistically I want two of my own, I think that would be perfect for me.

  6. Susanne on March 29, 2011 at 7:47 pm

I loved the video! The futon incident at the end was hilarious ๐Ÿ™‚

    I canโ€™t live without oatmeal

I prefer joint bank accounts and working together to keep the budget in check

I’m undecided about the # of kids

Looking forward to the new addition to your family ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. Tricia on March 29, 2011 at 7:48 pm

    Hahaha! The blooper is hilarious!

  8. suki on March 29, 2011 at 7:52 pm

    I couldn’t live without avocados. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’d want a goat too, but the backyards in SF are SMALL.

  9. kristi on March 29, 2011 at 7:56 pm

    Very cute!

    1) This is hard… chocolate? Sushi? I can’t decide!
    2) Joint! I’m a SAHM, so my account would be pretty empty if we had separate ;o)
    3) Three! We currently have 2 (boy-3 & girl- 1) and are going to try to conceive the third this summer!

  10. Kelly on March 29, 2011 at 8:15 pm

You two are such an inspiration!

Food I couldn’t live without: does coffee count?? haha otherwise, i couldn’t live without fruit, especially bananas!
I haven’t had to decide about the checking about thang yet..
And the kids convo has come up a couple times, but we’ve decided to let life unfold as it should. Currently not trying!

    Enjoy house hunting!!

  11. Alicia on March 29, 2011 at 8:33 pm

OMG the blooper!!!!!! HAHAHAHA That was a great video! I do hope that you do more of those ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Kristin on March 29, 2011 at 8:40 pm

Foods I can’t live without… Any and all fruit, and Great Harvest bread. yum!
money…not married, but I would definitely say joint. I would never have a ‘my money’ and ‘his money’ kind of situation.
kids…at least one, probably 2. I’m great with kids, and I LOVE them, but I don’t know if I could handle more kids than I have arms. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. Tracy on March 29, 2011 at 8:41 pm

    1. Hummus, avocado, nut butter. ๐Ÿ™‚
    2. Joint accounts! Works great for us but I totally understand that this is an area where each couple is different.
    3. 2-3! Definitely not more than 3!

Gina have you done a post about being gluten free? Are you completely gluten free or do you just go towards gf products? I’ve recently been gf for about 3 weeks and am so interested to hear if/why you are too.

    • Fitnessista on March 29, 2011 at 8:44 pm

i’m gluten-sensitive, not full blown allergic. i feel better when i don’t eat gluten, so usually stay away

      • Tracy on March 29, 2011 at 9:14 pm

That’s pretty much how I am too – glad to know there are other ppl out there like that! Like I won’t die if I eat it, my stomach just feels bloated and horrible.

  14. Allie P on March 29, 2011 at 9:47 pm

You guys are totally adorable. I want to hang out with you both all day! haha

  15. s on March 29, 2011 at 9:51 pm

haha you two are so cute.

    p.s. goat???!?!

  16. Christine (The Raw Project) on March 29, 2011 at 9:54 pm

Cute video! Interesting on finances and fun getting to know more about you two. I gave up nut butters for Lent too. And my hubby is a huge red meat eater. Very cool on adopting a goat. Great view on a vegan diet.

    1. Kale, carrots, bananas, avocados & hemp seeds
    2. We’re separate with a joint bill paying plan
    3. None, just call me auntie.

  17. Jess@atasteofconfidence on March 29, 2011 at 10:32 pm

    Love seeing you together.
-I have to say pb. Is that lame?
-I’d probably do joint accounts (but maybe a separate for some savings)
    -I want 3 kids!

  18. Tabi on March 29, 2011 at 10:45 pm

Hahaha loved the end and LOVE LOVE LOVE that you’re getting a goat! I am a vet-to-be and although I’ll be a kitty & doggy doctor, I ADORE goats and totally want one! They are so funny and quirky, and seem to really like affection from people! So fun! But yeah, like someone mentioned above, you can’t milk your goat unless she’s lactating, which would only happen if you were to breed her (and repeatedly to have continual production). Unless you want to have a whole goat fam?! ๐Ÿ™‚
As for questions… I cannot live without COFFEE. Chocolate is probably tied with that though haha. I’m still single but think that I’d do both joint and separate if/when married. Anddd, undecided about kiddos! I just turned 27, and although I see myself with a family of 2-3 someday… I’m definitely still waiting for my uterus to start yearning hahaa.

  19. Ida on March 29, 2011 at 10:53 pm

Cute post! I’m curious to hear more about the goat. Will you really be able to milk it? I heard that Tori Spelling has a pet goat now too:)

  20. kaila@ healthy helper blog! on March 29, 2011 at 10:53 pm

That blooper was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen!!! AHAHAHA!

PS: You guys are absolutely adorable and made for each other! You both compliment each other so well!

  21. Rose on March 29, 2011 at 11:14 pm

    1. Eggs!! I love them poached over a rice noodle soup or over-easy with tamari. Can you tell I’m from an Asian background? ๐Ÿ˜‰

    2. My husband and I opened a joint account when we got married (3 years ago). It forces us to talk about our purchases and spending habits to figure out how to budget appropriately for our life goals (and sometimes, what those goals even are!).

I have a good corporate job; but my husband’s passion is teaching kids, which doesn’t pay nearly half as well… Having a joint account eases the pressure of him feeling like he has to sacrifice his passion to “pull his own weight” financially. He pulls his weight in other ways that you can’t put a price on. ๐Ÿ™‚

    3. 2-3 kids and 1-2 fur babies.

  22. Conni on March 29, 2011 at 11:17 pm

    hahahahaha. awesome blooper.

    1. I can’t live without salad. Seriously I would die.
    2. I wouldn’t do the joint bank account thing. His money is his and mine is mine.
    3. My children will only be of the fur (or car) variety.

  23. Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) on March 29, 2011 at 11:25 pm

Don’t feel bad about the “you knows.” I got a grade on a 20 minute presentation I did today and the prof literally COUNTED the number of times we said “um” and then included it as a tally on our grade (luckily it didn’t affect the mark!). I literally said “um” 67 times in the span of 20 minutes and I wasn’t even the worst one! Another guy said it 108 times! lol. Everyone has different nervous ticks when you’re trying to fill silences in conversation.

Also, I was so distracted about the futon earlier that I completely forgot about the goat part! I totally laughed at that too and I’m so excited to hear stories about when you get a goat.

Loved this Q & A! I’m still DYING to know how the Pilot proposed! ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Stephanie on March 29, 2011 at 11:31 pm

LOVE the blooper! Hilarious!! You two are too darn cute. <3
    1. Can't live without cheese, although I'm cutting way back and adding in goat cheese!
    2. We've had a joint account since just before marrying. We do it for the same reasons you & the Pilot discussed….it just works well for us.
    3. We want 2 kids, but I get the option of a 3rd!

  25. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on March 29, 2011 at 11:40 pm

Oh man that blooper at the end nearly made me snarf my tea (that would probably feel like a reverse neti pot, right? LOL ok nevermind).

And Pilot I think you just cost G-dog her PG-13 rating with that f-bomb! Fine with me. ๐Ÿ™‚ I would surely have said something embarrassing in that situation, such as “C*CK ‘n’ BALLS!” I’m a dainty flower, really.

  26. Valerie @ FreshMutz on March 29, 2011 at 11:52 pm

    Love this video!!!

1.) Peanut butter and I are inseparable.

    2.) Joint bank account.

3.) As many as I can afford ๐Ÿ˜‰

  27. amy on March 30, 2011 at 1:00 am

Ahhh you are so awesome together! You are glowing when you say “since the pilot is home!!!” Really awesome job and the bleep the pilot says and blooper in general totally made me LOL! Thanks to you and the Pilot for the post!

  28. Erin on March 30, 2011 at 1:56 am

late to the party but I had to comment on this post…

    1. I say goat cheese… and strawberries (any fruit, really, i would live on fruit alone if my belly would allow it). My husband-to-be said ‘beef. and beer. [pause] and boobies’ bahaha whaaaattt?! typical.

    2. joint account for ‘home’ stuff like rent and bills and groceries (we transfer a certain % income into that), and solo checking/savings accounts so we can treat each other without the other feeling guilty/responsible, etc. (also cause I have a wee bit of credit card debt I want to eliminate on my own), but once we get married we’ll re-evaluate.

    3. I’m 26 and we have one darling fur-toddler. Not ready for baby humans quite yet, who knows where the wind will blow us. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  29. Sasha on March 30, 2011 at 3:01 am

    Hi,

I’ve been following your blog since June last year, but my first time commenting (so brace yourself for some verbal diarrhoea!)

I’m Indian and your Indian Food Wednesday posts tickle me pink ๐Ÿ™‚
I can’t tell your complexion from the photos/videos but you can easily pass off for an Indian, based on your features and dark hair. And I think your nose is just fine – sharp and perfectly suited to the rest of your face!

I’m not supposed to be compatible with Scorpions (I’m Gemini) but I find that I have a ton of Scorpion friends and I really like their transparency – if they like you, ya know it. If they don’t like you, ya certainly know it! You have only strengthened this belief – you seem really soft-spoken, sweet and non-revengeful (!) I love that although you mentioned an abusive relationship and hard times with relatives, you were very dignified about it.

I loved the video and the answers you posted, especially the one about
getting past a traumatic relationship. I’m so glad you & the Pilot found each other – you make a very cute couple. He sounds like he could be a Libran, is he? ๐Ÿ™‚

    Regards,
    Sasha

  30. Mandy on March 30, 2011 at 6:09 am

    1) cereal, or peanut butter, or sweet taters, or chocolate??
    2) Joint. I’ve been married 12+ years and hubbs makes more than me, so I would not be in good shape if I had to rely only on “my” money!
    3) I have two kiddos…that’s plenty!

I needed a switch up in my usual workout routine, so I started summer shape up (2010). Loving it! Thank you!

  31. Stephanie on March 30, 2011 at 6:58 am

Love the video! You cracked me up with the goat. Maybe that’s what I should start telling people. I’m so sick of having to deal with the “baby” question, especially from people I don’t know well! Sometimes I just want to be honest: well, we lost the first one, and it’s kinda hard to make another one when my husband is never home. Except that would be socially inappropriate! Ha!

  32. luce on March 30, 2011 at 8:50 am

    loll!!!!!!
you guys are so adorable ๐Ÿ™‚

  33. Dani on March 30, 2011 at 8:55 am

HAHAHA best blooper ever, people are staring at me because I’m laughing at my computer screen at work

  34. Autumn Tao on March 30, 2011 at 10:38 am

As a vegan, I read very few non-vegan blogs. You are one of the few. I think you are so respectful with your food choices, and I think you handled the question above about veganism with a kind of grace and honesty I really admire.

    Namaste.

    • Fitnessista on March 30, 2011 at 10:57 am

      thank you <3

  35. Angie (Losing It and Loving It) on March 30, 2011 at 11:39 am

Awesome video, how fun was that? Loved the blooper. And Bella is so precious!

    -Food you canโ€™t live without

    Sushi

-Do you -or would you choose to, if youโ€™re not attached- roll with joint or separate bank accounts?

We have joint bank accounts and I have a few separate business accounts.

-How many kids do you want?

No kids! I have two step kids and when they have kids that will be plenty. I used to want to have 6 kids then I worked at a daycare and now I would much rather travel with hubby and add more pets to our family. Just a personal choice!

  36. Emily on March 30, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Loved this post! So fun ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. Melissa @ Vegan CacaoBee on March 30, 2011 at 4:49 pm

Such a fun video and the blooper was awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

Food I can’t live without: dark chocolate
    Separate or joint account: both
    # of kids: maybe one or two eventually…but for now I get my baby fix at work and we’ve got the puppies at home

  38. Rachel on March 30, 2011 at 6:37 pm

    1. Chocolate or Coffee, tough tough choice between the two.
    2. My moolah is mine, I’d of course split bills, and might even open a joint account for just that, but otherwise, nope, mitts off!
    3. No kids for me, I have two cats and they totally complete me. ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. Jennifer on March 30, 2011 at 7:32 pm

Too exciting about the goat! I worked in a goat cheese/yogurt factory on a farm and fresh goat cheese is so incredible (ie: we milked the goats, made cheese that day, it was ready for consumption in like 2 days), you should definitely try to make it!!

  40. Dominique on March 31, 2011 at 5:54 pm

That video was awesome. Thanks so much for sharing, Gina and Pilot.

Food I can’t live without: Fruit. I’d pay for a fortune for good fruit.

Joint or separate bank accounts: When the BF and I move in in the fall, I imagine that we’ll get a joint bank account for joint spending (rent, groceries, utilities, etc) and have the majority of our pay go into that. Then our “spending” or “fun money” would go into our separate accounts. We talked about it in the past and that’s the plan.

Kids: The BF and I have decided on zero. We’re a no-kids, lots of pets kind of couple. Our only problem right now is finding a place that will allow for four cats within our price range.

  41. Simi on April 1, 2011 at 7:32 am

I loved this! It was great to see a bit of you guys personality ๐Ÿ™‚ Can’t wait for the next one.

  42. Callie {rawxy} on April 3, 2011 at 11:18 pm

haha – I’m a little behind on my reader, but this video just had me laughing out loud – the blooper was hilarious.
You two have such contagious spirits ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Fitnessista on April 4, 2011 at 12:30 am

      haha thank you!!

  43. Christin@purplebirdblog on April 5, 2011 at 7:18 pm
