We found out

This morning = best $70 Iโ€™ve ever spent.

Iโ€™m 15 1/2 weeks along and have been DYING to find out whether the little nugget is a โ€œsheโ€ or a โ€œheโ€. For almost my entire pregnancy, I was 100% convinced it was a boy, but most recently started to doubt that and think maybe itโ€™s a little girl in there.

Since my friend found out two weeks ago that sheโ€™s having a boy โ€“sheโ€™s due one week before me- I decided to call and book an extra ultrasound to see if we could find out. When we got there, the ultrasound tech was so pleasant and kind, and since it was a 4D fancy schmancy place, they have a giant screen, comfy couches, a legit bed for me to lay on (with lots of pillows!) and a โ€œDadโ€ chair. It was pretty cute.

Even if we wouldnโ€™t have been able to find out, it was an incredible appointment because I love watching our baby. I could watch it all day and we also got to hear the heartbeat, which is the sweetest, most amazing sound Iโ€™ve ever heard.

The tech zoomed around on the baby (who was jumping and swimming around like a little frog), and had a tough time being able to see โ€œthe goodsโ€ since it was often facing the opposite way or had its legs crossed. And then, she zoomed in on the money spot.

And then, with total confidence, she told us what we are having.

I looked over at Tom, who also had happy tears in his eyes, but waited to have a personal bawl fest until we got to the car. [Iโ€™m crying a little writing thisโ€ฆ definitely a little emotional today] Within that 15 minute appointment, it all felt more real. I feel even more connected to the little thing growing inside of me (the love in my heart is pretty intense) and can start planning out the nursery and registry.

To celebrate, we went to Millieโ€™s Pancake House, since Tom was hankering for some breakfast and had been at work since o-dark-thirty.photo (99)

It was a very good morning <3

Weโ€™re waiting to spread the news until Monday, since weโ€™re having a little gender reveal party on Sunday night and want the fam to know first, and find out at the same time. So stay tuned, friends! I will say that some of you were right in your guesses ๐Ÿ˜‰

You tease! I will so be reaching for the iPhone when I wake up on Monday morning ๐Ÿ™‚ We were able to find out the gender right away during our “big” ultrasound and I bawled the entire 1-hr appointment. I think the tech found it amusing.

I have thought that it is going to be a girl from the very beginning. A year or so ago you posted a ten year vision post, where you saw yourself having two daughters in ten years. I guess we will see if you and I were right!! Congrats to you both, whatever the sex, I am sure your little nugget will be a beautiful person.

Just FYI, a friend of mine had a stage II ultrasound done and was told conclusively that they were having a girl. They planned accordingly. They had a boy!!!

We found out with our first but weren’t able to with our second. For our third a clinic had opened and we were able to pay to find out. Best money we ever spent. I agree it really makes you feel more connected to the little one growing inside of you. It was an amazing experience and we loved every second of it. Congratulations on your little bundle of joy.

Ahhh! I’m so happy for you two! Can’t wait to hear the news – I love that last line about some people being right. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m voting for boy too because I think I recall being told if they say it’s a boy, it’s a boy. If they say it’s a girl however, they can’t say it with 100% certaintly so early. Of course technology evolves so quickly that I bet now they can tell you either way. Can’t wait to find out! Of course no matter what the news is, it’s good news!!! Win-win.

I actually predicted girl based on your cravings. When I was pregnant with my boy I had insane cravings for red meat for a long time. Pre-pregnancy I was not much of a red meat eater. I are more fish, turkey and beans for protein with some red meat and chicken here and there. I never liked hamburgers even in childhood. During pregnancy I would dream about cheeseburgers and wake up craving them. My mouth watered just seeing one. I made up all sorts of creative hamburgers. My husband was thrilled because he loves that stuff. I think I had more hamburgers, cheeseburgers and roast beef and cheddar sandwiches during pregnancy than I had during my entire life. After I gave birth I never craved a hamburger again.

That’s awesome you found out and what an awesome ultrasound experience…holy!!!

Wow, so exciting…I can’t wait to find out on Monday! By the way, I love that you have the Family tab – I think it’s such a great way to incorporate your pregnancy into the blog without it taking over. If I hadn’t recently found out I was pregnant (I’m only five weeks along), I probably wouldn’t be following along but still loving your main page. As it stands though, I’m so glad I can follow your journey here!

Congratulations!!! I just had to write to say I think boys are great (I have 3 boy cupcakes of my own) and I’ve felt this way about each and every one of them!! I’ve now lost the baby weight (for the most part) and working on lowering my body fat to a place I wasn’t even before I was pregnant and so now I get super clucky and interested in other women going thru the baby experience… I won’t be having anymore so I live vicariously thru you all! xx ALL THE BEST! It’s the best experience of your life really is…
