Welcome to the Family page

Hey guys! Welcome to the Family page 🙂 On this page I’ll be blogging about all things pregnancy and family-related . If there’s anything you want to hear more about, just shoot me an email and let me know! (fitnessista at gmail dot com)

Thank you so much for all of the love and support on the growth of our little family. We’re really excited about it and can’t wait to share the adventure with you <3

us (2)

A little heads up: some of the earlier “family” posts are a little different than my usual sunny fare. The Pilot was gone, I had no clue what was going on and my hormones were going cray cray. I thought about editing them, or deleting them all together, but decided to keep them in the spirit of keeping it real, which is how I roll 😉

Hope you enjoy and I’ll be writing a lot more informational posts in the future too! (Including steps in my pregnancy journey, resources I’ve used, and how my workouts have changed)

As always, let me know what you think and hope you have a great day <3

Xoxo

    Hey G,

Congrats to the both of you! I have been following your blog on and off for about a year and I was so happy for you two when I heard lol. Which was quite weird and a funny thing about the blogging world. But many well wishes from an Aussie reader living in Norway!
    Cheers!
PS I love the moody G posts gives your whole blog a more well rounded and real feel!

My hormones were all over the place when I had my first. I was a big mess. With my other two kids, not so much.

    Congratulations!

I love reading your true feels, especially because it is what a lot of people feel during the “wondering” time. I’m so excited to read about your future adventures with baby!

  9. Val on June 8, 2011 at 11:36 am

Congrats!! I’m so happy for you. Pregnancy and new babies are such an adventure. Life changing and totally worth it. You should document everything…..you’ll be thankful later :). What program do you use to track your cycles?

  10. Sam on June 8, 2011 at 11:36 am

Gina, first of all, I’m so insanely happy for you. I’ve never cried at a blog until your announcement yesterday. I checked the family tabs a gazillion times and was SSOOOO excited to read them all this morning. I’ve told you before, but you and this blog have changed my life. You’ve taught me so much about food, excercise, my unknown dairy allergy, and myself. You are my life saver. So please, take it from me, (an ALWAYS reader and once in a blue moon commenter) these family blog entries are raw, true to you, packed with emotion, and completely amazing. I’m so glad you chose not to edit or delete them. I know you tend to keep the bloggy positive and light hearted, and I understand why, but I hope this family tab will continue to be so true to you. Congratulations to you and the Pilot. And please know you’ve made such a difference in so many lives and we are ALL here to support you and repay the favor.

Loved reading all of the family posts we’ve been trying for two months and are curently in the waiting phase, so nice to see that patients can lead to a baby:)!!

Congrats to you and Tom! So exciting, I’m glad that you didn’t edit them, gotta keep it real. 🙂

  14. Shayla on June 8, 2011 at 12:11 pm

Congrats again Gina!!! I’m so very excited to read all these posts and see what your journey was like. My hubby and I want to start trying this summer, I went of the pill in March and haven’t gotten a period yet 🙁 And no not pregnant. I know they say it may take awhile but I really hope I get it soon so that we can start trying. I’m going to try lessening my workouts too to see if that helps. Did you have any trouble with this? Thanks Gina and I know I don’t know you both “personally”, but I’ve followed your blog for a long time so I virtually feel like I know you and I’m so very happy for the both of you! 🙂

  15. Jennyo on June 8, 2011 at 12:21 pm

Congratulations! Looking forward to your pregnancy post as I am 15 weeks.

  16. Jen on June 8, 2011 at 12:23 pm

Thank you so much for posting these on another page. I love reading them, and I want to keep referring to them. Also, it just shows how you’re always thinking of other people because this topic may be sensitive to some etc – thanks! 🙂

  17. Melissa on June 8, 2011 at 12:57 pm

These are so beautiful! I just found out I am pregnant with my second. It’s so wonderful to be able to read your story and I look forward to all of your posts! I also had a very strong feeling for a while now that you are pregnant from you random eats lol. How wonderful! Congrats to you and the Pilot. 🙂 Enjoy this time!

  18. Katie on June 8, 2011 at 1:01 pm

Congrats! I have been following your blog for awhile now and love reading it every day! I now will look forward to all the “Family” posts as i can relate– MY little bundle of joy is due August 7th and i can totally relate to the unreal changes, hormones and food aversions! Good luck to you and your little family!

  19. Ana on June 8, 2011 at 1:19 pm

Please don’t change anything, it is super nice to read the real thing. I loved the posts!
I was also an emotional mess throughout my pregnancy, would cry for anything – sad, happy, anything. That was the only thing my husband said he could not wait to be over as pregnancy ended 🙂
On a totally unrelated note, I just came back from having lunch at an Indian restaurant, it was so delicious, especially the Pakoras, which I kept eating and thinking of you saying they were “fried ballz of glory”, that is so right!!
I wish all the best for you, the pilot and this little baby Gina!
    Ana

Oh Gina, I just read through your posts and I’ve got tears running down my face! I’m such a cheeseball, but I feel like I’ve gotten to know you while following your blog for the past year. I’m in a long distance relationship myself and you’ve always been a great motivator and set a great example. Thank you for sharing such a personal expierience with us. It makes me feel so hopeful to see such a wonderful family with so much love. Keep staying positive and strong, this is just the beginning!

  23. Beth on June 8, 2011 at 1:44 pm

I love this photo of you & the Pilot….it’s worth thousand words & emotions. 🙂 Loved reading through your family posts, definitely had some tears when reading them (aka your cards from your mom, soo sweet!) Can’t wait to read more!

  24. MC on June 8, 2011 at 2:39 pm

I’m so glad that you have been writing these posts and have so graciously shared them – its been so fun to read through your thoughts and emotions from the beginning – not gonna lie, i teared up a little bit 🙂 Cant wait to follow you and the pilot on this adventure!

  25. Amy on June 8, 2011 at 2:43 pm

I just read all of the posts. I love every word. Congratulations to you both, I can’t wait for more updates! 🙂

  26. san on June 8, 2011 at 5:35 pm

Congrats woman! And with all the mattress mambo, its probably gonna be a girl. Boy swimmers are fast and stupid and die early and girl swimmers are slow and smart and live longer, its sience! (“Look it up its in the thing!”) –Amy Pohler, Baby Mama. (So technically, the girls can hover and wait for the egg, but the boys have to have an egg available or else they peeter out. Anyway, regardless (I guess I have a 50/50 shot of being right) praying the bambino is perfect in every way, boy or girl. 🙂

Gina- I am so ridiculously excited for you guys!!! I’ve been flustered and giddy for you all day, I’ve loved reading all the posts from the very beginning, how fun to have the whole story documented! 🙂
When Cody told me you asked him to add the “family” tab to the site I started freaking out, “she’s pregnant!!”
I can’t wait to read about all the exciting changes to come (and see pictures of your cute belly). You are going to be such a great mom!!

-Callie (the Web Wizard’s Wife) 🙂
P.S. Thank you so much for the macaroons…they were amazing!!!

I loved reading through all these posts! That was such a great idea for you to write all those posts in secret before you told us. Reading them brought such a huge smile to my face. I’m so happy for you two! 😀

  29. Laura on June 8, 2011 at 6:19 pm

First, congrats to you both! I am so unbelievably ridiculously happy for you right now!

Second, I LOVE these posts. Not that I don’t love your normal posts – but I often worry about how you hold up and it’s nice to see some recognition of your struggles in these family posts. I think it makes me be able to relate to you more, but also be even more happy for you and the pilot! I can’t wait to read more!

  30. Samantha on June 8, 2011 at 7:03 pm

Congrats! I’m so happy for you both! I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for you! These posts are great by the way, I’m glad you left them because it’s nice to see the real side of scary exciting times like this! : )

  31. Kayla on June 8, 2011 at 7:58 pm

I’m so glad you posted all of those as you wrote them. Trying to conceive is such a rollercoaster (we’re trying now ) so it was really neat to get to see inside your head (and to know I’m not the only one thinking like that!).
I’m really looking forward to your future posts.

  32. Wendy Heath on June 8, 2011 at 8:18 pm

How wonderful for both of you!! Loved the posts. You don’t need to be “sunny Gina”- I know I identify with you because you do let us into the ups and downs, but never seem to get too dragged down. We love you, happy, sad or any other kind of post!

Lots of prayers for a happy healthy pregnancy for you guys from me and the hubs.

  33. Jessica on June 8, 2011 at 9:16 pm

I really love these posts… your voice in them is so real. Not that your other posts sound fake (because they don’t) but there’s a rawness that is really amazing to be able to feel through the reading. I didn’t realize how much of a writer you are until I read the family posts- there’s something about vulnerability that makes me as a reader feel with you. I can’t wait to hear more! I love the way you’re doing this- we can still have the wonderful regular posts, but for those of us baby-obsessed, we can share in your journey too! Congrats girlie (and Pilot!) 🙂 🙂

  34. Viviane on June 8, 2011 at 9:35 pm

    Hi Gina,
As a long time reader (and first time commenting, I think?), I just want to let you know that the posts in the new Family section are the best I’ve ever read from you. The are real and heartfelt. I wish you and your husband all the best and I’m looking forward to following you in your adventures as a new mother 🙂

  37. Brittany on June 8, 2011 at 10:34 pm

OMG I loved that photo of you and the Pilot when you first posted it, but I love it EVEN MORE now that I know that this was the first time you saw him after finding out that you were pregnant! EEEEE!!!

  38. Suz on June 8, 2011 at 10:38 pm

I really enjoyed reading your FAMILY posts.

My biological clock has been ticking for a while now, but fear has prevented me from becoming a mother.
Your last post talks about feeling inadequate about a job. My greatest fear is that I won’t be a good mother.
I see all my flaws and I feel like they will negatively affect my child. I am anxious and worrisome by nature, and I don’t want to raise a child to be the same way or be an overbearing mother. Everything about parenthood makes me anxious – pregnancy, possible complications, raising a good kid, etc. etc.

It was comforting to see that you have your own apprehensions and fears about issues in your life. I know everyone does. It’s such a odd (but cool) thing that we can come to know ‘strangers’ via blogs, and relate and interact with them. It’s like talking to a good friend or even like a therapy session. So, thank you for sharing your life. I’m sure you hear it all the time, but it does make a difference. 🙂

So happy for you and the pilot!

    • Fitnessista on June 8, 2011 at 11:12 pm

      <3
i was worried about being a good mom, too, but one of the books i read said that you'll know what to do when the time comes. it's our instinct, ya know?

Hi Gina! Congratulations again!!! Your blog has been one of my favourites for some time now, but from today it’s definitely my number one fave!! 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing. And most of all, thank you for being real, it’s something I value very highly.

You’ll be a wonderful mother, you’ll both be super awesome parents, absolutely nothing to worry about there 🙂

Have a fantastic day!! (It’s morning in Cape Town, South Africa…!)
    Love,
    Lauren

OMG CONGRATS!!!! I am so incredibly happy for you!! Definitely suspected something with your little teaser on Monday 🙂 I have absolutely loved reading your blog for the last year and a half…you have totally TRANSFORMED my whole approach to diet and nutrition…I have learned so much from you! Your blog has so much great content, yet with an adorable, fun-loving, upbeat writing style that makes every post so fun to read! You have seriously been such an inspiration…I now have oats every morning (often blue oats with almond butter!), a salad beast every day, strictly organic produce, salmon as my go-to at restaurants, sweet potato and black bean chili in the slow cooker, mary’s crack and TJ’s seaweed snacks…the list goes on and on! And NOW I am super thrilled to get to follow your pregnancy journey every step of the way!!! Best of luck to you and the Pilot on this exciting journey!!!! 🙂 xoxo

First of all, congrats! I’m absolutely loving your family posts so far! Secondly, I was wondering if you could do a post about your process with your homeopath, from determining your hormone balances to the supplements he/she suggested and how you think it has affected your body. I’m really curious about the whole topic 🙂

  42. Melissa on June 10, 2011 at 1:52 am

Thanks for sharing your journey with us! Congratulations and best wishes to you and the Pilot!!

  43. Gina on June 10, 2011 at 4:57 pm

So when I first read your post announcing your pregnancy, I for some reason thought of this picture of you and the Pilot. It’s such a sweet picture of the two of you and you can just tell how much you love each other. I am assuming this was the first time you saw each other after finding out, am I correct? If so, it makes the picture even that more great.

  44. Jeannette on June 13, 2011 at 2:29 am

I am so excited for you! I started crying when I found out you were pregnant and I don’t even know you lol. I read your posts every day and I find you so inspiring! I’m so happy for you, Gina! I wish you the best of luck with your pregnancy! The little baby inside of you is so lucky! You and Tom will make wonderful parents!
