Froyo and a movie
It was a happy Friday over here. Liv and I ran a few errands, and since I was in the neighborhood (and was really wanting some gluten-free pizza), I picked up Renee’s Organic Oven for lunch:
Chicken, olives and mushrooms (with goat gouda added form home) + avocado salad
(avocados and cashews were buried by the greens- awesome salad combo)
New spicy obsession:
My uncle picked this up to make the rib marinade a couple of weeks ago, and I’m obsessed. It’s like red chili flakes and hot sauce had a baby. The Pilot was laughing at me as I scooped a giant spoonful onto my eggs. He said he thought you were supposed to add it to sauces, not eat it alone. He’s a spicy rookie, it’s ok 😉
Speaking of the man, it was so much fun to go to the airport and pick him up. I opened the car door and tackled him in usual fashion, Livi smiled so big and kicked her legs as soon as she saw him, and Bella was crazy excited when we came home. All of his girls missed him very much:

We enjoyed dinner together and then grabbed some froyo.
I’m going through a froyo thing right now (especially since BTO has awesome dairy-free flavors). I’m glad to have my froyo buddy back 🙂
As we enjoyed our treats, we watched the last Harry Potter movie. I have no idea why I waited this long to see it- it was SO good! I read the first 4 books, couldn’t get into the 5th (got about 1/3 of the way through) and kind of called it quits on HP. I also only watched the first 4 movies in case I decided to finish the books. This last movie did an amazing job of filling in the gaps for me, and while I intended to do some computer stuff, I got sucked in. It was nice to have a little movie date here at the house.
Oh, and the Pilot put together the high chair.
Liv and I watched him, and it took about 13 minutes. It likely would have taken me 3 hours. I thought about putting it together myself since he was here if I had any questions, but I decided not to ruin his fun (plus, it just sounded miserable to me).
It’s a work day and Zumba day over here.
Gonna kick it old school:
and girls’ night tonight 🙂 Stoked.
Hope you’re having a happy weekend!
See ya later <3

I think my BF and I need a pizza, froyo and movie date now. 😉
Same here on Harry Potter. I stopped on the 5th book. I couldn’t get into it…
ahh Harry Potter is my favorite book ever haha
i was on holidays again so i’m reading all the posts i missed in one week! Glad to hear u had fun in Vegas, and also glad to see that the Pilot’s back home! Liv is so cute, i love her smile and it’s awesome how she reacted during the two flights 😀 i’m totally into froyos right now, gonna grab one tomorrow i think 😀 xxx
Thanks for the link love, friend! So I made dough balls last night for a friend and still had some Monster Cookies leftover too. Chris ate one side by said and said he prefers the Monster Cookies now! If that’s not enough to light a fire under you to make ’em, I don’t know what is. Have a great weekend!
Froyo is one of my summertime favorites! So good.
Great link to the cookie recipe, too. Thanks!
I love red chili flakes – I could sprinkle them on anything! Fire-breathing much? 🙂
Yay! Warm and fuzzies all around 🙂
Thank you for sharing the stuff you’re reading right now! Love the monster cookie recipe! I’ve just recently gone GF and mostly dairy free (and I’m feeling a lot better), and it’s been hard to rewrite all the foods I enjoy. I’m going to get on trying to find a dairy free fo-yo place here in Vegas!
I was just thinking this morning that I cannot believe I haven’t seen the last Harry Potter movie yet! I’ve heard good things about it, so I’ll have to watch it soon. I also want fro-yo now after reading this post. I wish that I had a place nearby with dairy-free options other than sorbet.
Mmmm sriracha sauce! So good. I’m having some on some stir fry right now. 🙂
Your posts always make me so happy! Just wanted to let you know 🙂 – aaand now I want some fro-yo haha happy weekend!
pizza, froyo, and Harry Potter with your family…doesn’t get much better than that:)
I still haven’t seen the last Harry Potter movie! And I read all the books and enjoyed all the other movies….just haven’t gotten around to it yet!
I used to go to the college where that Zumba instructor filmed that! I started watching it and thought, “Whoa. I’ve totally done a zillion fitness classes in that exact room.”
crazy!!
I seriously have major GF pizza envy over here. I live in SF and you’d think there would be a bunch of gf pizza options, but there aren’t…Renee’s looks delish!!!
i’m shocked! you do have an awesome farmers market (and cafe gratitude), though!
I love the Harry Potter movies. They had a marathon the other night here and I recorded them all to watch later. I’m just super cool. Although, I really enjoyed the books!
I still haven’t seen the last one yet, now I’m extra excited.
I love red chili flakes, I’ll have to be on the lookout for that stuff!
Yum this pizza and fro yo- nothing better! Your little girl gets cuter everyday!
thank you, i totally agree 🙂
Looks like a perfect night to me; pizza, froyo, and movie night!
That’s it…I’ve got to get my hands on some fro-yo and smores before the end of summer. Seeing so much of both of them in the blogosphere has sparked a major craving! 🙂
dude. i am DYING for a smore. you just reminded me!
My mom just bought us these s’more bites for the road trip we took this weekend. We also went to a three day bible conference that lasted until 5 all three days do we stocked up on sweets! I think she got them at TJs. They are amazing.
That’s so funny! We always have siracha sauce and that garlic chili sauce in our fridge as well. My parents put it on everything. A spoonful!? Wow! You eat really spicy! It’s really good with peanut sauce for spring rolls. We’ve been on a spring roll kick the past few weekends. Livi looks so adorable!
this morning i got a little overzealous- i just love it so much
I love that sauce. I mix it with soy sauce to make the perfect dumpling dipping sauce 🙂 If you have some time… I wrote about another hot sauce on my blog. A family friend brought it from Malaysia and it is… um… A THOUSAND times hotter than the chili garlic sauce AND Sriracha COMBINED. I can eat really spicy… but this sauce set my mouth on fire! And I may or may not have cried a little bit.
no way!! i accept the challenge haha
Gina, Livi is getting so big. You can really see ‘you’ in her now – especially when
she’s smiling.
I’m behind too – glad you had a good time in Vegas with your friend and that the
flights went well for y’all. Thanks for showing us that Vegas doesn’t just have to be a
‘lost weekend’ destination. 🙂
I’m in love with chili garlic sauce. I feel like we go through a container ever few weeks! I love mixing it with a little soy sauce or Bragg’s amino acids and putting it on ground Turkey while its cooking in the skillet so delicious. Add some avocado in there too
that sounds SO GOOD!!
I used to get a jar of that stuff from Lee Lee’s biweekly! I don’t know if it is actually Sriracha, I bought it bc I couldn’t find the traditional Sriracha, but now I can’t find that stuff anywhere. Just Sriracha. Boo.
i didn’t think they were the same thing- in college i tried sriracha because my roommate was obsessed and didn’t really love it
They’re totally not the same, I used to obsess with Sriracha as a condiment then this other stuff came along and I actually cooked with it. I think maybe it’s the difference between Pico de Gallo and salsa where some people use it interchangeably but it’s oh so wrong.
I don’t know why, but I find the Asian markets only carry one or the other for some reason. If I come back for homecoming, I’m getting some of the good stuff 🙂
Looks like a great night! I love Frozen Yogurt too! 🙂
Love the Chili Sauce! And Froyo!
But not together. 🙂
Chili garlic sauce is my fave! I used to put that stuff on EVERYTHING. Back in the day, when my parents were harvesting cucumbers from the garden, my mom would peel a cuc, cut it into strips and we’d put chili garlic sauce on it like peanut butter and celery sticks. Once, I was so excited about a new jar that I accidentally called it charlie gillic sauce and everyone in my family knew I needed a chili sauce intervention–hahaha.
Ahh I don’t know how you can eat that chili sauce plain! Even mild salsa seems hot to me haha. 😛
So funny about the Harry Potter books- I had the exact same experience. I read the first 4 and read about 30 pages of the 5th and quit. I think it was HP overload. I’d like to read 5-7 because I really enjoy the stories, but I’ll have to read a recap on the first 4 since that was about 5 years ago!
Sometimes, your blog posts make me really miss Tucson 🙂
I was just looking in my fridge for lunch (we were away this weekend do our fridge is EMPTY!) and I found that chili sauce! When i saw it I thought “Ive seen this before!”
YESSSSS!!! did you try it?!
No. I have bad acid reflux and I am going through a spell of attacks and I didn’t want to eat anything unusual or out of my regular diet. But I will! I live spicy foods. I will eat jalapeños right out of the jar sometimes!
