Merrier, brighter

Whew! Woke up feeling a little sore from yesterday’s long run. I’m definitely still breaking in the new Brooks, and while I like them so far, they don’t have the same mold-to-my-feet feel that the beloved Asics had. (Which is to be expected since I’d been working out in the same Asics for almost a year.) My runs have been so all over the place as far as incline, time of day and weather have been, so here’s hoping I’m prepared for anything during the next half. Watch it rain and me forget my shoes or something ridiculous like that 😉 I still haven’t completed my goal of a 5k with the jogging stroller, so before it gets too cold, that’s next on the list!

I’m still making a conscious effort to relax after Liv goes to bed. I got into an intense habit of getting a crazy amount of blogging and chores done late at night, and by the time I went to bed without taking a break all day, I was exhausted and starting to burn out. I’ve eased up on things and have endeavored to be more effective with time management during the day. It’s to the point where Liv can “help” me with easier chores while she’s awake and I’ll blog during naps. This way at night, the Pilot and I have a chance to chill.

Yesterday, Liv surprised us with a 3 hour nap, so that was “chill time” and at night, while the Pilot worked on Master’s stuff, I cleaned, prepped some food for the week,  and put up a few Christmas decorations.

Snowman

No Christmas tree yet, but just enough to quell the beast for now….

Wreath

(our Christmas gift from Meg and Kyle last year)

I’m glad the formal living room is baby-gated since the tree will be in there, along with any breakable decorations. I’m sure it would be quite the picnic keeping Liv from crawling under the tree or removing ornaments (even though I absolutely love this YHL idea for a baby-friendly tree).

Decorations

Instead, I’m making her a tree we’ll keep in the den so she can decorate it as often as she likes- I hope she loves it! I always had my own little tree growing up- it was a fun tradition.

I’m enjoying an off-day from the gym with my favorite little thing. I’m planning on hitting up the library and gathering some ingredients for a little sushi party we’re having tomorrow night.

Hope you have a very happy Monday and I’ll see ya later on the Fashion page!

xoxo

Something to do: Turkey Day Detox Circuit Workout! So excited to hear that many of you will be joining me in a week of clean eating following last week’s glorious indulgences. Here’s a circuit workout I did Saturday, along with jump rope intervals. The entire thing took 40 minutes and I was a sweaty beast at the end. If you try it, leave a comment to let me know, or tweet/Instagram your sweaty workout pic @fitnessista !

I can definitely relate to having jam-packed days and then rushing in the evenings to get so much done in our “free time.” It’s so important, especially during this time of year, to take breathers. 🙂 Cute wreath, by the way! Now I know what to ask my crafty sister-in-law for for Christmas. 😛

What a great little circuit, I’m looking forward to giving this a try! 🙂

Looking forward to attempting to wake up early one morning to get this workout in before work! I’m also on board for cleaning up my eats this week!

Your Christmas decorations look beautiful! I’m also very excited for decorating the Christmas tree- but my boyfriend made me agree to wait until December 🙁 Almost there!

Love the Christmas decorations 🙂 I like that workout. I love that your idea of a detox is a workout and not cutting out foods or crazy restrictions. A circuit like that is so much more fun anyway 🙂 Happy Monday!

When I was growing up I always had my own little tree, Santa always put one special little gift under it for me. It is a very fond memory for me.

    Your decorations look fantastic 🙂

I love that you’re putting up a special tree just for Liv to decorate as much as she wants. 😀

Glad you’re in a nice flow, as much as one can be with a little kiddo, with the sleeping and chill time/time with your hubs. It’s such a nice gift to be able to put the baby to bed and actually get like…30 whole minutes just to talk! to your spouse 🙂 Glad you guys are carving out some time!

Your decorations look so beautiful!! They definitely make me want to get my decorations out ASAP.

Your Christmas decorations(especially that snowman!!) are adorable!

Your decorations look so cute GIna! I’m not putting too many up this year because I’m sort of in the midst of selling my house, but you can bet the Christmas songs have been on for the past week!

So happy to see there is a Turkey day detox program. I’ll definitely need to get in on this after all the gluttony over the weekend!

Ahh – I’m trying to find a little, slender outdoor tree that I can put on our porch. Haven’t found one yet but I keep looking! I’m definitely anxious to get things decorated. Having a house to decorate for the first time is daunting though because all my decorations were more small-apartment type. Cheap, junky, throw away stuff you buy because you don’t want to invest not knowing what stuff you’d use in a new house. Well… now I need to get a game plan together ASAP. 🙂

Having a tree just for the kiddo sounds like a great idea..such a cute tradition!
If only I could protect my tree from my dogs!

Love your Christmas decorations! Especially the wreath! Right now i’m battling my own toddler versus Christmas tree ornaments which is a bit exhausting! When is your half? I think switching up your runs is great for training!

  17. Katie @ Balanced RD on November 26, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Your Christmas decorations are so cute! The circuit workout looks great…I want to try it tomorrow 🙂

  18. Sarabell on November 26, 2012 at 8:33 pm

Thanks for sharing the baby-friendly tree!
I am moving soon so I can’t decorate quite yet… but I am so excited to get to soon!

Love that first picture with the sunburst at the top!

Does it feel strange decorating for Christmas in such a warm place? It’s pretty warm here in the south as well but probably not as warm as it is in AZ.

    The circuit workout looks great.

yes. and it makes me fear for spring because that means it will probably be a crazy cold one

Time management is my focus this next week. I just started blogging and have realized how darn time consuming it can be…don’t get me wrong, I’m intrigued and loving every minute of it, but it def takes time!

I’m loving all of the Christmas decor popping up on blogs, I’m bummed I won’t be decorating this year because we recently moved to a smaller place (the price of urban living!). So I’ll live vicariously through all the bloggers out there 🙂

  21. Bek @ Crave on November 27, 2012 at 12:16 am

I love the idea of a baby tree for Liv- I’ve never heard of that idea before, when I have bubbas I’d love to do that!

  22. Joanna @ Running Places on November 27, 2012 at 12:36 am

Can’t believe you already have your Christmas decor out! You’re amazing!

  23. Jess on November 27, 2012 at 4:23 am

I can totally relate to going crazy at night trying to get stuff done!! It is my only time to do anything. Christmas trees and little ones scare me, glad yours will be gated away!

  24. AR on November 27, 2012 at 10:53 am

I woke up early and did the jump rope/circuits this morning! It was a great workout and the perfect length to fit in before work without getting up at an ungodly hour (pre 6). One question: with the squat press, is that a squat + overhead press? Thanks so much for the workout motivation!

    • Fitnessista on November 27, 2012 at 11:32 am

yep! 🙂 yay i’m glad you had a great workout!

  25. Crystal@TheFastFitRunner on November 27, 2012 at 12:17 pm

I am definitely enjoying seeing all the Christmas decor go up around the blog world!
