The Best St. Patrickโs Day Cocktail
Hi friends! Hope your morning is going well. I have a long post tomorrow about creating a healthy relationship with food, but today, I wanted to re-share this oldie but goodie in honor of the upcoming โall things greenโ holiday.
Not only is this is the best St. Patrickโs Day cocktail, itโs the best cocktail for anytime, really.
The Best St. Patrickโs Day Cocktail
Thereโs not too much โIrishโ about me. Thereโs a little bit on my great-grandmotherโs side, the fact that I used to Irish Step dance (I had a mean slip jig), and I married an Irish man. He introduced me to wonderful things about his familyโs culture -they actually own a bar in Ireland that weโd love to visit someday!- including this cocktail. It has a rich sweetness to it, a little goes a long way as itโs very rich, and is absolutely perfect for the upcoming holiday.
Weโve had some pretty memorable St. Patrickโs Days, like when we visited Savannah and the power went out in the entire city. (I was convinced it was aliens or an attack of some sort.) But with all of the ones weโve spent together, my favorite was the night we stayed home in Valdosta, watched movies and drank copious amounts of this cocktail.
My version is with almond milk, and the Pilotโs is with heavy cream or regular milk:
[One of these things is not like the others. Also, these are older pics but my go-to almond milk right now is the Malk brand]
As you guys know, I tend to stay away from dairy for health/skin/autoimmune reasons. I donโt stay away from Baileyโs Irish cream for any reason aaaaaand they now make a dairy-free version thatโs pretty good ๐ I also have added back some dairy with success after healing my gut!
Hereโs the recipe for my favorite cocktail, which Iโve dubbed โThe Lucky Irish Girl.โ Even though Iโm mostly Irish by association, St. Paddyโs is one of my favorite holidays. Hope you enjoy this drink as much as we do!
The Lucky Irish Girl Cocktail
This is the best St. Patrickโs Day cocktail!

- Shake it up!
- Strain, pour, and bottoms up.

- If youโre using spinach to color your drink, blend it with the drink.
Nutrition
- Serving Size: 1
I blended mine with a little spinach for a more festive green cocktail, which sadly, does not magically turn it into a healthy elixir (bonus vitamins! haha). It does make it pretty, though ๐ You can also use natural green food coloring.
For the holiday, you can also make a LOVE warm Irish coffee with Irish whiskey, or a shot of Guinness with Baileyโs โ always a classic. Green beer is always a family fave, too.
Cheers!
What is your all-time favorite mocktail or cocktail recipe? This one is my all-time fave, and I also love some good sangria and these spring mocktail recipes.
Any past St. Patrickโs Day adventures to share?
I pretty much stay away from dairy for the same skin reasons (plus Iโm intolerant), but thereโs always some exceptions you have to make;) Like St. Pattyโs. Iโm generally not a fan of baileys, Iโm more of a hard liquor lover. I have to say I love the green color of the cocktail though! Maybe Iโll make a cocktail with green juice and vodka instead:)
This cocktail looks yummy! I love a baileyโs latte but St. Pattyโs is really the only time I make one. We like to make a leprechaun trap with my 5-year old son. I turn the milk and toilet water green and hide little treats throughout the house (chocolate gold coins). This is also the one time a year when we buy sugary cereal, lucky charms so that is a treat for him.
This is a fun post. ๐ I love St. Pattyโs day! I donโt love beer at all, but I do like it on St. Pattyโs if itโs green and all that. Haha. These cocktails look way better though! What town is the bar the Pilotโs family owns in? Thatโs awesome! Ireland is my favorite place Iโve ever visited.
So creative! Definitely a treat.
That drink looks SO good!
I love just baileys and kahlua over ice, so I definitely think I would love this with the frangelico. I nice, rich drink to sip and savor.
Interesting combo! Iโm not too much of a fan of st. patrickโs day because Iโm not a beer drinker. Now, cinco de mayo is more my holiday since I would rather have a margarita.
I love this idea! Iโm super Irish and grew up Irish Dancing in parades. St. Patrickโs Day is one of my favorite holidays. Iโm giving this recipe to my fiance in hopes heโll make it for us! haha
i donโt drink, so i will just have to have a starbucks green tea latte. Its nice and green!
I stay away from celebrating pattys day, keeps me out of trouble! ๐
I like making a grasshopper with a little creme de menthe, creme de cacao and almond milk ๐
Looks very delicious and I wouldnโt mind trying a few of these this St. Paddyโs Day. Iโm part Irish (on my motherโs side), but sadly, I donโt really have any crazy holiday stories.
My BF was in Savannah when the power went out on St. Paddyโs too!
it was SO crazy! to top it off, there was a tornado warning, too.
YUMMMMMM! I didnโt get to partake in the adult festivities last year as I was 7 months preggo, but THIS looks SO. GOOD. In addition to making it green, I might use mint Baileys to make it a little Thin Mint-ish.
We celebrate BIG time over here. My FILโs parents were fresh off the boat.
This sounds so good! I normally stick to wine or whiskey/bourbon, neat, but occasionally something a little fancier is called for. I love a good old-fashioned or anything with ginger in it : )
Yum!! I want some! Iโd try to make mine with soymilk too.
Like the idea of adding the spinach. Are you sure it cannot be classed as one of your 5 a day!
I also love a good sangria. Or a lychee martini, a cosmopolitan or a daiquiri is always nice too and I can delude myself into thinking its healthier with all the fruit.
St. Patrickโs Day is the day I love most . . . Iโm Irish thru and thru. I usually stick to beer with an occasional shot now and then (either a Jameson Irish Whiskey or a shot called an โirish car bombโ) โ I will be drinking Guinness so even if you were to add green food coloring โ it would still just be really dark! Will be having a more authentic meal of boiling bacon, colcannon (mashed potatoes with cabbage and bacon or ham mixed in) and soda bread. It really is my favorite day. Enjoy the holiday with your Irish ball and chain. Slainte! (Irish toast โ to health)
Mo
thank you, lovely friend! hope you enjoy the holiday, too! iโll have a guinness in your honor
That is awesome that you gave up dairy! I took myself, hubby and teen boys of of it last year. I am so glad that as a young Mom when they were babies, I did not give them dairy. (think it was that Mothers instinct) After reading the mucusless diet, studying Dr. Morse it changed my whole view on dairy and it is NOT, IMO meant for humans and causes so much acidosis in the body :=) I am so blessed that my gp doc agrees with me!
I love that you used spinach for the colour!
Love this! And will definitely be drink a Guinness
Looks Dangerously Delicious!
looks so good! have to say, the drinks are usually my favorite part of st pats ๐
Made these tonightโฆ they were delicious!! Thanks ๐
Love the cocktail ideas but i will prefer the green fruits salads more for the special occasion. Everyone has some innovative ideas for this special occasion.
This looks oh so delicious and festive, I might have to try this one out. Who doesnโt love some baileyโs!
Oh my word this looks so good!! I need to get my drink onโbad. And I love baileys and kahlua so it would basically be my perfect drink. ๐
This sounds so yummy! I love any cocktail with frothy egg whites, like a gin fizz. I also love good margaritas (I.e., no simple syrup or sour mix), but so many places make bad ones!
Ginaaaaaaaa guess what! I just found out that they have dairy-free almond milk Baileyโs! I just about died when I saw it at the store. We didnโt have a reason to buy it at the time (because I know I would have just had a glass โ or three โ a night until it was empty) and now Iโm kicking myself.
STOP WITH ALL OF THIS. i need to find it!!!!!
I LOVE grasshoppers. I havenโt had one in years, but this drink totally reminded me of it.
Dairy-free cocktail ideas are well appreciated over here! Thank you Gina:)
I am so making this on Friday!
Looks so good! My in-laws make a similar drink (grasshopper) and use almond milk ice cream in it. So good!
YUMMMMMM
Hi Gina!
I get updates from your blog through feedly and recently your blog is updating two days behind. I had to come to your blog to find that you had several other posts up. I just want to give you a heads up. I hope youโre having a lovely week!
Mmm.. sounds good. So I found this recipe on Pinterest for vegan Irish Cream:
