Around the house
Hi! Happy Wednesday <3 Hope you’ve been having a great day so far. Livi and I have had a fun week! We hit up the zoo yesterday and had a blast (even though I got us lost quite a few times we had fun walking around, eating popcorn and saying “hi” to all of the beautiful animals). I also took a BodyPump class on Monday and am still sore. It’s been at least a year since my last class and it destroyed me in the best way possible.
I can confidently say that the house is put together and unpacked, and it’s a huge relief. It’s nice to go through one of Liv’s naps and be able to work instead of having the surrounding boxes stare me down. The unpacking was relatively quick, thanks to the fam who came to San Diego for a few days when we first moved to help us (!). I think it’s as good as it’s gonna get for now.
Some pics from around the house:
(more pics are in last week’s Friday Faves)
the kitchen
(The “Elsie” cookie jar belonged to the Pilot’s grandmother. I was only able to meet her a couple of times, but I smile every time I see the cookie jar. She was a lovely woman, and full of so much spunk. When I was first dating the Pilot, she told me, “Next time I see you, you better have a ring on your finger.”)
Dining room:
Living room:
It’s the first time that we haven’t had a TV in the living room, and I kind of love it. We still have one in the den, but it’s nice to make breakfast and enjoy dinner at the table without distraction from the TV.
Photo wall in our “new” home:
Guest bathroom:
(still need to hang the wall art. We’ve always had a beach theme for our guest bathroom, and for the first time ever, it actually makes sense. When I first decided to do a beach theme, I thought about how cool it would be to use it in a beach house. I never thought it would actually happen.)
Our room:
and closet: + glimpse into the master bath:
Den:
We still have to finish Liv’s room and the guest room, but I think we’ll be transitioning the little lady into a toddler bed so it’s a work in progress. The guest room has some boxes of military gear that still need to be put away, but the owners are using one side of the garage for storage for the next couple of weeks. After we get it shuffled around, I’ll share some pics of the man cave/exercise room 🙂
Some fun little touches:
The greenery and garden is probably my favorite part.
We have roses:
citrus trees (lemon and orange)
our tiny army of succulents that madre was so kind to drive with her:
and an outdoor shower to wash off the sand 🙂
You can probably tell from my posts, but we’re absolutely loving it here. We obviously loved being in Tucson, but the vibe of our San Diego house and neighborhood are unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It’s been so much fun to wheel Liv around in the wagon and explore all of the nearby shops and restaurants. We still have a lot to do to get settled: the Pilot has started all of the trainings and meetings he has to attend; I’m auditing classes at a gym where I’ll likely be teaching, and have a Zumba audition tonight; we’re starting to get together with toddler friends and activities for Liv. As long as we’re together, it’s all that really matters.
Hope you have a wonderful day <3
xoxo
Gina
Anyone have a unique theme for our of the rooms in their house? (I LOVE hearing about stuff like this!)
Any decor items that you received from friends or family?
It’s SOOO cute! I love reading your posts lately – I can genuinely tell how happy you are all out there. Such a good place for your family to be! XO
The new house looks gorgeous already! I am so happy for y’all!
Cute! I’m jealous….I love AZ, but I also love CA vibe. I totally get what you mean by that. Enjoy and I can’t wait to see the next round of pics!
I love it! It’s so cozy, airy and perfect!! I’m sure it feels good to be settled in!
I love how light and airy your house looks! I can’t wait to someday have a kitchen that gets TONS of natural light!
Wow you inspire me! We are moving in a little over a month and I am already trying to figure out how I am going to design it. We are going to have SO much more space! I love how clean and light your house looks!
Beautiful home. And I love the way you decorate . Glad you are liking it there. Have a wonderful afternoon.
Your new place is so lovely! 🙂
cuuuuuute. closet swoon. I LOVE the rug in your den…where is it from?
when is the housewarming? 😉 I scheduled ours for 3 weeks post-move to give myself a deadline haha. 2.5 weeks until moving day and I’m. so. excited.
thank you! it’s from crate and barrel. it’s funny, i didn’t even think of having a housewarming 🙂 maybe we should!
You should! Or you can come to our massive beer pong/bounce house affair that’s happening haha
dude. i want to!
I’ll send out the invite when my life is under control 🙂
I love your house (especially the kitchen)! So pretty and clean.
thank you!
Such a cute new house, Gina. I love love love the ‘Hamptons’ color scheme throughout the house (dark wood…super white walls / sinks / cabinets / etc). It seems like you’re really embracing the move. 🙂
I love it!!! I can’t say enough how cute I think the outside area is. I also can’t believe how quickly you got everything unpacked and settled and hung on walls.
I am also very jealous of your closet and shoe collection.
The only room we have a “theme” in is our living room and we have a couple sets of prints from etsy for where my boyfriend and I are each from, then where we currently live (SAN DIEGO!). I really like that theme because it makes it seem like home even though where we live isn’t where we call home 🙂 I want to also do some pictures of each place to go with the prints.
You have SUCH a beautiful home!! I’ve got some serious home envy going on 😉 And backyard, too…citrus trees are such a dream! (I live in cold Canada)
Congrats on having everything settled and in place!
Citrus trees!!! I would be in heaven! I live in North Carolina (and love it) but often say I was born in the wrong part of the country 🙂 It seems like a wonderful place to live. I also have a ‘beach’ themed bathroom. Makes it so relaxing 🙂
Awesome house! I love your taste. I can’t wait to have a place of our own to decorate one day. California looks amazing!
your new home looks so sunny and cozy! so, so glad to hear that you all are doing well and settling down. ahh, how i would love to live somewhere by the beach someday. at my old apartment we had a bright aqua accent wall, and i hung up random little drawings and prints. not sure if you’re into crazy colored paints; my renovator (who didn’t ‘get’ what i was going for) was trying to tell me not to paint my place like a kindergarten classroom. ha!
I’m glad you are loving your new area! Your house is cute and decorated so nice. Your posts make me want to move to SD!
Love the new home! So bright and cheerful!
beautiful home!!! love everything 🙂
And you are so right about the feeling out there, we always love it out there. Wish we could live there.
Are you on Coronado island? Wherever, I’m so jealous!!
Gorg, gorg, gorg!!! We potentially could leave Canada and move to Orlando within the next few years, and although, I know that’s not beach, it’s still WARM!!! I would so be in love with your new digs, too!! San Diego will bring amazing memories!
It’s so pretty and put together!
I’m so impressed! I moved in February and I STILL haven’t finished unpacking (I also only moved 2 miles away).
My husband and I TRIED to have a globe/map theme in the 2nd bedroom of our first apartment, but it slowly became the landing zone for everything that didn’t have a spot and that theme fell out the window 🙂
Our idea was to decorate with different globes (because we had a few that we loved) and antiquey maps. I still love the idea and would love to do something with it in our new house!
The house looks like a home, I love how the rugs in the living room & den really pull the room together. Nice!! Enjoy San Diego, it’s a beautiful place!
thank you, sue! loving all of the somethin special goodies, too!! (liv always asks to wear the lotion) 🙂
You can tell that sweet little girl she can have as much as she wants from Auntie Suzie! (yes, I have 8 nieces & nephews, can’t you tell? I’m a lucky auntie!)
aww, thank you! she’ll love that 🙂 so fun that you have 8 nieces and nephews!
Love your new place. It’s adorable. 🙂
I love the tv stand/unit in the den. Where is it from? We’re looking for something like that now that our 11 month old is cruising around : )
Not sure if you check old posts, but was wondering what neighborhood you lived in in San Diego (now that you aren’t there anymore). It’s a dream of mine to live there one day and just wondered where you were. Thanks!!
we were in ocean beach, but right where it hits point loma. so we were close enough to walk to the beach, but far enough from the crazy 😉 if we were to move back, i’m not sure i would choose that area again. there was a lot of crime and sometimes felt a little sketchy. i’d probably go for something in point loma (the loma portal area is amazing)
Thanks so much!!
