Farmer’s market finds and a new barre burner
Hi! Howโs your morning going? So glad you liked the dinner recipe!
We spent the evening exploring the OB farmerโs market, which has quickly become my favorite. Itโs huge, but not overwhelming so, and they have an incredible variety of vendors, from clothing, candles, accessories, produce, flowers, and allthefood. We didnโt end up getting any produce, but went to enjoy the music and have dinner together.
I was on a mission to find a pupusa, which is a treat that our dear friend from El Salvador used to make for our family on a weekly basis in Tucson. A pupusa is a stuffed corn tortilla topped with cabbage slaw and spicy salsa. The kick from the salsa, crunch from the cabbage and soft tortilla are heartwarming; nothing quite like it. Unfortunately, I didnโt find the pupusa lady again last night, but did have an awesome chat with the kombucha girl.
She sold me a kombucha scoby for $4! Operation kombucha begins today.
(+ this amazing green smoothie we all shared. The Pilot totally thought the scoby bottle was a beer bottle, and was really excited until he found out a mother bacteria was dwelling inside.)
This morning, Iโm teaching and excited to spend the day with my little sidekick. I was thinking of picking up one of those inflatable pools -similar to the one we had last year- for the backyard. I think it would make her day ๐
Hope you have a wonderful morning <3
xoxo

Something to do: A new barre burner! This one is fairly short (7 minutes) but would combine perfectly with these two barre burners + this ab burner for a complete workout. It does involve lots of micro movements and squats, so may be one to skip if you have any knee, hip or joint considerations. As always, modify as needed, and let me know how it goes if you give it a try! Hope you enjoy.
Farmers Market just are the best place to be!
Haha, I had to laugh about the pilot thinking the kabocha bottle is beer. Too funny!
I’m so scared to try to make Kombucha. But spending $7 per bottle seems ridiculous to me. I’m going to challenge myself one of these days to give it a try! Can’t wait to try the barre burner. Just did Workout 1 again two times through and am dying right now. ๐
As always, great video! I’ve only had a papoosa once but it was delicious! Hope you find one next time! ๐
I just tried barre3 last night for the first time! My legs were shaaaaaaking! CrossFit is still my true love right now, but I really need to try one of your barre burner videos!
I love kombucha, but making it myself seems crazy! Maybe one day ๐
I am obsessed with your pants that you’re wearing at the market! I need some!!!!
The farmers market is the way to go! I love getting fresh produce and trying new things at our farmers market!
Your barre burner videos are quickly becoming my favorite. You’re not kidding when you call them burners- wow!! So good!
How does homemade kombucha compare to bottled kombucha, taste-wise? I’ve only ever had bottled, and have been considering making my own, but I’d be the only one drinking it (I live with picky eaters/drinkers).
ohhh nothing like exploring the farmer’s market!
My favorite Farmers Market is a smaller one near my home; I find their prices to be so much better than the Ferry Building (more well known). Also, I just wanted to stop-by and let you know that it is spelled ‘Pupusa’. ๐ Have a great day!
fail. should have googled it ๐
Still wrong….
I love farmers markets! And all of the seashells at yours. If I lived by the ocean my house would be all beachhouse themed. Ahh, a girl can dream. ๐
Look at Liv’s long legs! She is getting so bit.
I’m actually home this weekend, so I’m super pumped to hit up the farmer’s market Saturday morning! It’s a fair walk from my apartment, but it’s huge!
I mean “big.” Livi’s getting big. Darn autocorrect! ๐
she is so big! it’s crazy
I love the farmer’s market! I spend every Saturday at our’s and enjoy every minute of it. You pants are adorable!! Where did you get them?
thank you! i got them at the farmers market last week ๐
I am hesitant to make Kombucha. I just tried to make sauerkraut the other day and after 2 or 3 days it was a total failure, wah wah. I need to get my fermenting confidence back up! Ha
what happened with your kraut? use lots of salt and make sure the liquid covers the cabbage by pushing down on it often during the first 24 hours
Love that rug where is it from?
thank you! world market
๐ don’t have a world market but checked out online and its on sale! Thank you for responding.
I’ve never had papoosa. It sounds easy enough to make, right?
it’s one of those things i don’t want to mess up ๐
Were those shells at OB Farmers Market?? I’m on the lookout for shells!
Thanks!
yes! they have them at a store on newport (i can’t remember the name). tons of shells
Hmm.. maybe I need to make a trip to OB soon.. ๐
I just might bust out this barre burner while waiting at the airport. Lol ๐
doooo it. haha
Evening farmer’s markets are so fun! I love the one in San Luis Obispo. They have an awesome Thursday night one. Have you been there? It’s one of my favorite places in CA!
Super cute pants ๐
I’m excited to hear how Operation Kombucha turns out!!! I’ve been wanting to make some for quite a while but I’m kinda scared! Lol
This was the first barre burner I’ve done, and…WHAT was I waiting for? Loved it! Can’t wait to do more, but this time it was my warm up for SSU workout 1. Thanks Gina!
The pupusa vendors are also at the Hillcrest farmer’s market! Sunday mornings. There’s also an amazing Salvadoran restaurant in SD you might want to check out. I think it’s just called El Salvador but I might be wrong!
Those veggies look amazing! What fun finds ๐ I am working at the Farmer’s Market with my mom this summer, and it is so much fun!
El Salvadoreรฑo.. best pupusas in town. ๐

happening. thank you!
Those pants look so cute on you! And I’m loving the barre burners.
That Barre Burner was my workout “dessert”…these quads are on fiyahhh!
I always like going to farmer’s markets and supporting local farmers. They are also fun to check out!
Thanks for sharing another barre video with us! ๐
giirrrrrrrl, you make crazy genie pants look good!
So I think you look adorable in those pants, but Im wondering what your hubby thinks? My hubby would seriously give me the side eye if I wore pants like that in public. (again, I think they are adorable, and I certainly dont omit clothes in my wardrobe based on my husband’s opinion, just wondering what yours thinks of that style of pants;)
i don’t even think he noticed or cared. he probably would wonder if we were out to dinner or something like that, but at the farmer’s market, right by the beach, anything goes ๐
I’ve been making my own kombucha for a couple months now and I love it. I was nervous at first but now that I’ve gotten the hang of it, it is easy to do, so much cheaper than buying it in the store, and I can come up with whatever flavors I want! I got a whole kit from kombuchabrooklyn.com and they have really good info on their website to get you started (whether you got a kit from them or not).
Just did this workout. LOVE it. Also, my husband walked in on me doing the hip swing move with the ball. He then proclaimed it his new favorite exercise ever for me to do. So thanks for an awesome workout and a great laugh!
I love your hair! And that cilantro looks amaze! I legit want to crawl into my screen and grab it.
The OB farmer’s market is great! It is tied with the Little Italy farmer’s market in my opinion. Have you been? Saturday mornings – really great!
You should put your teaching schedule on the blog somewhere so us locals can come check you out! Have you looked into teaching at FIT? That’s my gym and that would just be super cool. ๐
Hey Gina is pupusa
I love your videos! I’ve shared them with some of my friends and they love them too– perfect for workouts in our little apartments!
Love your barre videos!! Really appreciate you doing them!!!
I did this workout this morning (and I did the other barre video last night after a 5km run) – WOW i’ve never tried barre before AND I LOVED IT. Ohhhhh the burn in this video!!!!!!! So much burnnnnnnnn. LOVE the barre videos – more please :D!!
Loved that!!! Thanks!!! Keep em coming.
Thanks for the barre burner…that is one type of workout I am dying to try! I am eyeing up some home dvds too.
Good luck with the kombucha; I have been brewing mine for several months and it’s always fun to try new flavors in the second ferment. I’ve made peach ginger, grapefruit ginger, cherry rooibos, lavender, just to name a few. Would love to know how it’s going for you and what flavors you try out.
