2014 Holiday Gift Guide for the Gym Rat

Gift guide for gym rat

Hi! Hope youโ€™re having a lovely day. Itโ€™s time for annual gift guides! If youโ€™re like me, youโ€™re always looking for new and fun ideas as gifts for those you love. (Ok. and maybe yourself, too.) As usual, Iโ€™ve split them up into categories to make them easy to navigate. I hope you find some new ideas, and as always, please share any ideas in the comments section! Please keep in mind that these posts are not sponsored in any way, and companies are not able to sponsor a spot on my gift guides. Theyโ€™re all things I chose myself and think would make an awesome gift for this holiday season. Some affiliate links are included, which donโ€™t have any impact on purchase price, but I do earn a small commission from clicks. Thank you so much for your support! <3

Here are some ideas for your fellow fitness-loving friends:

Fitness holiday gifts

Gym bag stuffers (gym socks, dry shampoo, facial cleansing cloths, lip glossArgan oilhair ties and hair care goodies). Healthier holiday treats are always fun, too, like jerky, dark chocolate, protein powder, superfoods (mini bags of hemp seeds, chia, goji berries, etc), nut butters and Ocho bars!

New yoga mat. Iโ€™ve had my Manduka mat for almost 6 years, and itโ€™s still going strong!

Weight plate necklace. These are so fun, and the ones I linked to include Biblical verses. If youโ€™d like them without, Etsy has some cute ones too!

Reebok Skyscapes. I feel like these are the perfect โ€œeverythingโ€ shoe for a gym-loving friend. I can wear mine traveling, running errands, or lifting weights. Theyโ€™re super lightweight and extremely comfortable.

Lightweight hoodie. Love lightweight hoodies for layering pieces to and from the gym!

Running ear warmer. These are a lifesaver for running on chilly mornings.

Printed or mesh leggings. You can never have too many. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Long-sleeved athletic top. Same! Long sleeved tops are perfecting for layering over a tank top as you warm up.

Sport sunglasses. These make a great gift, since many people seem to have regular sunglasses but none of the sporty variety. I like that these are a mid prize range, and are polarized.

Fitbit Flex or Polar Loop. To decide between the two, I would determine if you just want encouragement to be more activity with a streamlined designed (Fitbit) or heart rate monitor capability for workouts (Loop).

Six pack bag. These bags are AWESOME. The company sent me one a year ago to test out, and Iโ€™ve used it so many times. You can portion out healthy meals and snacks for on the go or traveling, and easily store and keep cool in a sleek bag.

Infuser water bottle. This is great motivation to drink more water! You can add fresh fruit and/or herbs to infuse flavor into regular H2O.

New earbuds. Iโ€™ve tried so many different types, and always come back to these. They stay put, have crystal clear sound, and are durable.

Home workout gear. Some simple tools and a DVD or two make working out at home a lot more fun and a feasible option.

HIIT It!โ€ <โ€” shameless book plug. If you have a fitness-loving friend, this book is packed with new workouts, full schedules and Registered Dietitian-approved eating plans (with vegan, Paleo and gluten-free options). Plus, if you preorder now, you get a free eBook. All the details are here.

Gift card to a local studio. If you and your friend have been talking about trying a new class or studio, surprise them with a gift card! Many studios are running holiday membership deals right now, too.

Race entry fee. Sign up for a race or event to enjoy together!

Have any ideas for your fitness-loving friends? Whatโ€™s on your personal fitness wish list this year??

xoxo

Gina

Great gift ideas! I just bought a really good G-Shock watch for teaching, and I’d say that’s a good gift for a fitness enthusiast. Happy Monday! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Love this gift guide!
I have been searching for a new yoga mat. I can not find one that I like in my price range. With the mats I have I feel like I am sinking into the mat and there is no support, or they are to slippery. I often find myself just using 2 of the studios mats along with many others in the class. How cushiony is the manduka mat? Is it totally worth the price?
Also, I totally bought myself a few new pairs of skyscapes on black friday. For $30 a pair, how could I not?

    • Fitnessista on December 1, 2014 at 2:35 pm

      that $30 deal was AMAZING.
and yes, the manduka is 100% worth it (especially because they’re 25% off today). it’s the only mat that has stood the test of time, and gives a lot of support. i used to double up on mats, too, but the manduka is extremely thick and durable. it’s not very cushiony (more firm) but very thick and supportive. it is a little slippery during heated classes, but i put a yogitoes towel on top which helps

Thank you so much! I just ordered one and have a feeling it will be well worth the investment.

SO many fantastic gifts! I live with a bunch of active friends (we all go to the same college), and I know these would all be a huge hit with them for our secret santa coming up!

    • Fitnessista on December 1, 2014 at 3:51 pm

  9. Michele @ paleorunningmomma on December 1, 2014 at 4:38 pm

I think anything from Lululemon is a perfect gift! Especially love their run toque’s, run gloves, and winter speed tights. Gym layering pieces are code words for my entire wardrobe, always.

  10. Erin @ Her Heartland Soul on December 1, 2014 at 4:38 pm

I love my Skyscapes! And my lulu yoga mat! Great list!

  14. Annalisa on December 1, 2014 at 8:56 pm

I’m intrigued by so many of these ideas! I am the queen of putting gift buying off until the last minute. I need to get on it!! I am in need of some new earbuds. I’ve gone thru a few pair this year, they just don’t last very long! I love that water bottle, what a fun idea!!

  15. Yaara Leve on December 1, 2014 at 10:21 pm

I’ve been looking for a good pair of sweat proof earbuds. Those look really good. I looked on amazon but it didn’t say how long it is. The reviews said it’s only short enough to reach your arm for an armband. Is this right? Or does is reach longer? I know it comes with an extension chord but one person said with the extension it’s too long. What is your experience? And I’m so glad Caro came home safely!! What a relief!!

On my wishlist: (1) workout clothes, particularly tank tops and a couple of hoodies; (2) TRX for at-home workouts; and (3) new shoes for the gym … probably past due ๐Ÿ˜‰

  19. Nicole @ Fitful Focus on December 2, 2014 at 9:34 am

  20. Tracy on December 2, 2014 at 11:10 am

Great ideas! I like adding a hairband (like bicbands.com ) in with gifts to fit friends!

  21. Brittney on December 2, 2014 at 1:45 pm

Totally got the skyscrapper shoes in red the other day, I saw them on you & fell in love! 6pm.com had an awesome sale the other day too! I died when Rosebud salve became popular, I saw it at Urban Outfitters and was like what?! My grandma (Memaw) in TN has this stuff everywhere, I grew up on it. I told her how it has become trendy in the last few years and she said what, Avon used to give that to its sales reps as a reward for selling product. **Disclaimer, this is rambled because my boss called me in his office and I’m writing a comment instead of prepping for a meeting**

  22. Alex @ get big, go to work on December 3, 2014 at 10:12 am

I would really like to get a new pair of Brooks tennis shoes and some Athleta gear this season. My list always tends to favorite workout gear/things

  23. Marcy Fitness on December 17, 2014 at 11:54 am

That water bottle is so cool! Asking for fitness gear and receiving it for the holidays is such a great way to stay on top of fitness goals amongst the decadent meals and chilly weather– opening them up makes you excited to use them and get going!
