Friday Faves
Hi hi! Happy Friday! What do you have going on this weekend? My MIL is got here yesterday and is staying with us, and weโre so excited and happy to have her here. Itโs been way too long since weโve been able to see Tomโs side of the family – heโs been able to visit during his airline trips – and weโll be showing her some Tucson spots.
Weโre doing the usual summer fun this weekend: pool with friends, and family dinner on Sunday. Itโs so fun to have things to look forward to again. Other plans involve teaching baby Shark (aka Maisey) not to bite, and planning for next monthโs Fit Team programming. Iโd love to hear what youโre up to!
Itโs time for the weekly Friday Faves party. This is where I share some of my fave finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your faves, too, so please shout out something youโre loving in the comments section below.
Random/life:
– New light fixture! We got rid of the weird lamp chandelier thing and it instantly made a huge difference. (It might be a little toooooo matchy with our table but I love it.)
– Maisey pic of the week:
(Sheโs such a funny thing and I CANโT WAIT until we can take her on walks!)
Read, watch, listen:
Big list of summer read-alouds. (Anyone have tips for making read-alouds something that the kids look forward to? We read before bed but I keep suggesting we read in the afternoon and they usually say theyโd rather do something else.) On another note, I told Liv Iโd pay her $1 for every book she reads and sheโs been CRUSHING it. 30 books for 1 LOL doll seems like a good trade-off to me.
So many amazing book recommendations here.
Take 5 minutes to slow down and breathe.
Fashion + beauty:
This super cute set that Vuori sent me! The fabric is insanely soft and I love the color. Check it out here! Iโm working with them on an upcoming post and so excited to partner with this brand.
Cardholder access for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts today! I feel like a lot of it is repeats from last year, but they always have some core classics in the sale that I love. Itโs also a great time to stock up on some fall essentials for the kiddos.
Here are my top picks from this yearsโ sale and what Iโll personally be ordering:
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Top Picks
Women:
These heels in nude to wear with skirts or dresses this fall.
This is when I stock up on my fave everyday thongs.
This is the time of year when I order a few of my favorite bras, too. This one is wire free (praise be) and gives you a nice shape under t-shirts without being too padded or thick.
This colorblock cardigan! (It sold out last year while my order was in the process of being fulfilled so Iโm snagging it up first lol.)
Inexpensive holiday gift ideas, like these slippers, these dainty initial pendants, and this chain bracelet.
Such an awesome deal on Coola sunscreen.
Really hoping this nap dress gets restocked.
Men:
Great price on these low-top sneakers.
Kids:
These Tucker + Tate dresses are adorable and only $20.
These soft and comfy fleece hoodies.
Things we already own and love from previous Nordstrom sales:
The BEST shorty pajamas and they have leopard print! I have multiple sets of these and the quality is incredible.
These faux leather leggings. These have been a staple with low-top sneakers and a sweater for the past couple of years. Theyโre super flattering and comfortable.
My fave socks in the universe. I like thick workout socks and these are moisture-wicking and perfect for strength training and spin classes.
The coziest throw-on cardigan. I wear this around all winter.
I always pay more for Rails tops and itโs ALWAYS worth it. They last extremely well and are so cute with jeans or leggings.
These bike shorts! Love these for strength training and hot yoga.
I use this on the girls and myself and itโs the only thing that can tame our wild manes.
This bralette is cute with a v-neck tank.
Wore these skinny jeans all last year (and can skinny jeans never die PLEASE?).
This light swim wand was prob my favorite purchase from last year! I use it on my face and also used it on my pink after I broke it.
Ugg boots and North Face jackets for the kiddos <โ I always order their winter gear from this sale
* Iโll share a full blog post with updated items when public access starts on the 28th. A lot sells out, so I try to order the fave products ASAP! I know a lot of bloggers share the sale and just wanted to say thank you so so much to those of you who choose to shop through my affiliate links. <3
Fitness + good eats:
– Try this yoga and barre 30-minute combo!
– Making this chicken salad ASAP
– Did a quick GRIT workout earlier this week when I was on a time crunch and it was SO sweaty. These workouts always challenge me to my max! If youโve been wanting to try Les Mills, use my link for 30 days free.
Happy Friday, friends!

I always look forward to the N Sale and it was SUCH a disappointment this year. Almost everything was sold out by the time I got access this morning. Boo
Iโm so bummed, too!!! I woke up like an hour ago and so many things were already sold out
I LOVE that light fixture! We are hunting for a good one in our dining room. Ours is currently one of those half sphere basic ones and it cannot stay much longer. I also need skinny jeans to stay around forever! I do love a wide flare leg, but…this in between weird 90s leg thing? No thank you. I also just scored a worn once Rails shirt from Thredup! I wanted to try the brand because I’ve always heard great things about them, but I couldn’t pull the trigger on the price of the new ones. I also am thinking of getting the AG jeans this time. I also love the Zelle leggings. I bought the Barefoot Dreams cardigan last year and I am only ehhhh on it, but I LOVE that it looks more professional for casual Fridays at school.
Oh the chicken salad looks great! We will be at lake house this week so this looks amazing!
Light fixture looks great!
โฆbut can we please all appreciate that bar cart in the background! Looks ! #partyatginasplace!
That pic of Maisey <3 oh my goodness, so cute!
Maybe do a fun snack with your read aloud. I have powdered donuts in the pantry and that is only for read aloud time. Sometimes they ask for read aloud but it may only be because they want that particular snack I’ve saved for it. I have all boys so food is extra important. In the cooler months we always call it tea time and they get to pick a flavored tea to brew.
I think it can be hard to get interest in read aloud midday: we too mostly do it pre-bed. I will say we just started the Mr. Lemoncello series of books and the first one is an EXCELLENT read aloud. My 7 year old begs for it every night and no matter how many chapters we read, itโs never enough. Side note, I would love to know your read aloud list: good ones are hard to find!
