“Everywhere you look”
It’s a full house over here 🙂
(+ my nana and stepdad)
The Pilot’s side of the fam came in from the southeast yesterday afternoon, and when they got here we did what most people do with out-of-town guests:
took them to a bar.
Ok, so not a *real* bar, but to the squadron bar for family day. It’s something that our squadron is going to start doing more often: grilling out burgers and brats, bringing sides and desserts, drinking and being merry,
and eating lots and lots of hogcorn- my popcorn love.
(Popcorn popped with jalapenos, salt and spices. The trick is that you need an actual popcorn machine to do it, because the jalapenos get super crispy. I tried to replicate it at home, and while it was good, it was a little soggy)
After family day, we came back to the house for a little dessert party.
Madre brought over an amazing chocolate fruit tart from Beyond Bread
and a plate of tasty treats like lemon bars, cream puffs, éclairs, key lime pie, cannoli…
and a red velvet cake.
It was so much fun to see and catch up with everyone, and brush out little Bell- brushing is her favorite.
This morning while everyone is still snoozing, I’m off to work to take a dance class with live drummers that I might be teaching. After shaking time, back home for a breakfast feast and Tucson adventures.
See ya later tonight!
xoxo

PS. The title of this post reminded me of how ridiculously in love with Uncle Jesse I used to be.
LOVE the title of your post – I used to watch Full House religiously! (And still love Mary-Kate and Ashley, haha.) When I was little, my neighbor across the street used to baby-sit me on the days when my mom worked. My mom would come to pick me up while Full House was on, so I would wait for a commercial break and race across the street to turn it on at our house so that I wouldn’t miss anything. Ah, the good ol’ days, haha. Have a great time with your family!
Have so much fun with the family! My parents are coming to town tomorrow, and I CAN’T WAIT!
Aren’t full houses the best?! And yes… Uncle Jesse <3
It’s always so nice to have family around!! I’m sure Livi agrees. 😉
And I need to try some hogcorn – yum, yum, yum! Happy Saturday. 🙂 Oh and P.S. Weren’t we all in love with Uncle Jessie?
A dance class with live drummers sounds so fun! I used to do yoga in Wilmington, NC (not far from where you used to live in NC ages ago!) but my teacher there used to drum and had a little band and wow, we had some really fabulous yoga-meets-jam-session classes…can’t wait to see if you teach a class with drumming. Fun!
I must be hungry, that plate of treats is making me drool…
LOL I had to laugh at the comment about uncle jesse and all the references to Full House 😛 I just downloaded the first season of Full House recently, and have been enjoying watching the old school episodes 😀 Have a wonderful day!
Mmmmmm…Uncle Jesse. Obsessed.
Love Full House 🙂 My sister and I called it the “Michelle Stephanie show” because our names are Michelle and Stephanie. We thought it was the coolest thing ever.
Omg, this post title is too funny! I went to a local comedy club last night to see Bob Saget. He was awesome and so funny! And guess who came out on stage w/ him…John Stamos! They sang a song together while Bob Saget played the guitar. It was called “Danny Tanner is Not Gay.” lol, it was super funny. Umm, and yes, Uncle Jessie is smoking hot in person 😉
That fruit tart looks so fruity! Wow!*
I love Full House! And I love hosting and having a full house 🙂 Everything looks delicious!
How fun! Families are the best 🙂 Enjoy your time with them!
Hi, I recently found your blog and really enjoy the content. Is there a way to subscribe so I will get emails of your new blog entries? Thanks! I look forward to learning more from you, Leslie.
Google Reader!
Hi Leslie! Nice to meet you 🙂 there’s a subscribe button on the top right side. Thank you so much for reading 🙂
Xoxo
Thanks Gina! I’ve been reading this on my iPad and do not see the subscribe button, maybe because of the way it displays. I’ll try logging onto my computer later and see if I see it on there. ~Leslie
BEYOND BREAD! I miss that place like woah. Visiting your blog every day makes me so so so nostalgic for Tucson.
When I was a kid playing foosball in the squadron bar was the BEST WEEKEND ACTIVITY EVER. If we were really well behaved we could pick a treat from the snack drawer and mark it off on Dad’s account- man, those were always the BEST days. Enjoy!
I used to LOVE Full House! I watched it every day after school! I am so happy you are getting to spend some time with the fam, I do hope that they are making life easier for you!
Ah, the Full House theme song is now going to be in my head for the rest of the day ! 😉
All those desserts look amazing and yummy!!!
I don’t know what you’re talking about – I’m still in love with Uncle Jesse!!!
You are my portion control role model! (something I personally struggle with at times. 🙁 I would love to know what you indulged in from the dessert spread.
I had the innards of two lemon bars and a big piece of the chocolate tart. I didn’t eat the crust and traded it w my nana for some more berries 🙂
Xoxo
oh my gosh I WANT that treat plate… I think it somehow included all my favourite desserts ever. Only if it included baklava too!
baklava is one of my all-time faves, too 🙂
mmm…the hogcorn sounds amazing! At first I thought that the “hog” part of it was bacon – I might need to try it soon. It would make for a very happy husband!
I love full houses….except when it’s clean up time. 🙂 Have a great rest of your day!
This reminds me so much of my family. We are always together eating and hanging out. I am the youngest so I am made fun of a lot and I love every second of it!!!
Ah! I loved uncle Jesse too! So much that I named by little brother after him… He’s 11 years younger than me and when my parents decided to let me choose his name, it was an easy decision 🙂
Ha ha ha! Whe I first read this post, I thought, “Uncle Jesse? Uncle Jesse from The Dukes of Hazzard?” I am showing my age. Uncle Jesse from Full House is a much better choice. 🙂
Hogcorn sounds amazing! What spices do you use? Would love to try it at home – the hubs would be so happy:)
i have no idea what spices they put in there, but it’s soooo good
