Meg: Where are you Winter?

Thereโ€™s nothing I love more than the transition from summer fashion to fall/winter fashion. Thatโ€™s an extreme exaggeration, but I really love dressing for cold (or cool if youโ€™re from Tucson) weather.

Because the weather where I live is currently over 100 degrees and painfully dry, I will use this as an opportunity to let out a few deep sighs and wish for the cold. If you are from an area that experiences extended, bitterly cold winter seasonsโ€ฆfeel free to roll your internet eyes at me ย ๐Ÿ™‚ย

Here are my top 5 reasons why cold weather fashion beats summer fashion:

Boots. No need to stress about your unpolished toes, theyโ€™ll be shoved in thick socks and stuffed into cozy boots. Also, boots look good on anyone if you find the right style.

Accessorizing is SO much easier. If itโ€™s cold enough to need a scarf, you are instantly accessorized. My favorite style to sport when itโ€™s chilly: circle scarves. Adorable, comfy, and effortless.

Hair-dos that donโ€™t fall out. How many times have you curled your hair in the summertime and by lunch theyโ€™re a tangled, sweaty mess? Maybe thatโ€™s just meโ€ฆbut I find the constant exposure to chlorine and sunlight dries my hair out tremendously. Winter provides me with shiny, polished locks (or so I like to think).

Thereโ€™s so much more variety! The outfit combos multiply when suddenly your favorite blouse can be tucked into a skirt with tights, layered under a kitted cardigan, or worn with a denim jacket. The possibilities are endlessโ€ฆ

Everything is on sale. I donโ€™t know a single human being who doesnโ€™t like a good markdown. Those Christmas time sales are stressful, yes, but oh so worth it. Donโ€™t feel like squeezing by screaming kids and pushy shoppers at the mall? Fear not, that is what the internet is for ๐Ÿ˜‰

ย You see? My longing for winter has been soundly explained! Summer has been a lot of fun, and next summer I have so much to look forward to. For now Iโ€™m dying for visible foggy breath, a pumpkin spice latte, and winter fashion.ย

Have a happy day ย ๐Ÿ™‚

Xo- Meg

I have been feeling the exact same way lately! It has been such a hot summer that I’m so ready for fall, and can’t wait for pumpkin spice lattes, sooooooo good!

I moved to Florida a year ago, and thought I wouldn’t miss the transition into cold at all (born and raised in Michigan, I’m used to being a snow bunny)!! Not that I haven’t loved winter with an average of 70 degrees but I DO miss the fashion! Scarves. Boots. Tights. I still rock all of these things, I just have to be a little more creative with the combinations, as overheating comes easier! ๐Ÿ™‚

Being from Boston I am one of those people who has to deal with bitterly cold winters and a ton of snow. I usually love the winter but I am still a high school student and it is not fun (nor fashionable) to be walking around school all day in snow boots and a thick winter coat. That is when I dont have time to go to my locker. Basicaly, our fall is your winter. But when the cool weather comes light jackets are my favorite!

I’m totally with ya! I can’t wait for FAAAAAALLLLL. It’s my favorite season for many reasons but all things pumpkin is definitely the best reason! ๐Ÿ™‚

I love this post so much because since the beginning of august I’ve been dreaming about the fall! Everything about fall is amazing…at least over here new jersey. Boots, tights and scarves…yes please! I love those three because I can turn them into fancy, work and hanging around the house outfits. OMG I’m so excited to eat baked apples while wearing my scarf!!!!!!!! Lol.

I’ve been ready for Fall for months now. Hot humid summers always make me wish for Winter. This year after 7 years in a place where we get maybe 1 snow fall, and not even a good one, a year we will be back in the area I grew up in. There will be plenty of snow and cold. I’m looking forward to going shopping for snow gear and actually having it in stock at the local stores instead of having to shop online for it.

Vegas resident here! And yes, I am so ready for fall! Sick of sweating, and ready to start snuggling!

  8. Kandi on August 14, 2012 at 6:38 pm

Fall is my absolute favorite!! There’s NOTHING better than a pair of skinny jeans, boots, and a sweater!

    • Meg on August 14, 2012 at 11:06 pm

      I back that 100%!

  9. Karen A. on August 14, 2012 at 7:37 pm

I’m seriously waiting for winter too! Or even fall!

  10. Laura on August 14, 2012 at 8:08 pm

I love boots too-they are my favorite thing to wear come cool weather! But my favortie outfits are always prancing around in pretty sundresses so spring/summer wins for me.

I definitely prefer warm weather to cold weather- I get cold SO easily and it’s miserable to be shivering all the time. But, I do have to agree with you, winter fashion is amazing. Boots, tights, scarves, sweaters…I can’t get enough!
Oh, and you’re absolutely adorable! I envy your ability to pull off bangs. (:

Fall is definitely my favorite fashion season. I enjoy sweater weather and light coats. Boots are great, but you can wear flats or converse still without completely freezing your toes off. Being from New England, it is my favorite season of all time anyways!

And someone mentioned pumpkin spice lattes- I CANNOT WAIT ๐Ÿ™‚

      I live for P-spice!

  13. Bridget on August 14, 2012 at 10:19 pm

Right now, me and my toes I haven’t had time to re-polish are looking forward to boots ๐Ÿ™‚ But, by January in Nebraska I’m sure I’ll think differently.

I love fall! It’s the best season, but the benefit of summer means not having to wear a million layers. Throw on a sundress, sandals, and a necklace, you’re golden! Luckily since moving from Chicago to Saint Louis, the winters here don’t really have a ton of snow.

  15. Samantha @ My Full Life on August 15, 2012 at 7:33 am

I like winter clothing but am dreading all that will go into dressing and keeping my new baby warm. It should be an adventure.

  16. Amanda on August 15, 2012 at 9:05 am

I want to wear boots so bad. As much as I love my sandals, I’m ready for chunky sweaters, blazers, and jeans–all unsuitable for the humid weather we’ve been having in DC!

  17. Amanda B. on August 15, 2012 at 9:11 am

Hehe your winter is like fall here. Cold enough for layers, but warm enough for cute things like tights under skirts and cute little jackets. I love it.

By the time “real” winter gets going in the Midwest, all I can stand wearing is leggings layered under skinny jeans tucked into boots with a huge wool sweater and a big puffy coat. Every day. I end up looking 20lbs heavier and it’s so cold that I don’t care. Not really my best fashion season.

  18. Angel on August 15, 2012 at 9:58 am

oh how I miss AZ winters!! right now my husband and I are stationed at Fort Drum, NY (a short drive from the Canadian border) and winters are miserable!! There is very little fashion going on when you don’t even want to leave the house to brave the cold. But I do looove fall…it is my absolute favorite season! I cant wait for pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin doughnuts! YUM!

  19. Carrie on August 15, 2012 at 11:07 am

Pinterest is only fueling my desire to bust out the leggings, jeggings, scarves and tights. But I snap out of quickly because once January rolls around, I’ll be dying for sundresses, jean shorts and tank tops. If we have another mild Midwest winter, I think I’ll manage, though.

    • Amanda B. on August 15, 2012 at 1:36 pm

I’m the same way! All about the leggings, scarves, and tights in the fall. SOOOOO ready for bare legs in the spring ๐Ÿ˜›
