Baby annoucement wrap-up
Hi friends! WOW. We are blown away by all of your kind and wonderful comments on yesterday’s announcement post. I’m so thankful to have you all in my *virtual family*, and send you so much gratitude and love for sharing in our joy with us. It’s a really exciting time!
I thought I’d go through some questions I received yesterday here on the blog, via email, Twitter and Instagram:
How many weeks are you? How do you feel?
Today, I’m 13 weeks! I’m over the first trimester hump, and over what my friend Whitney accurately described as feeling like “death on a stick.” I wasn’t actively sick during this pregnancy (so far? yet), but have felt nauseous all day and exhausted since we found out we were expecting. Usually if I’m sleeping, eating something, or teaching a class, I feel great. So I’ve been eating all the things, napping often, and it’s helped a lot (Teaching I think just distracts me from how I’m feeling, so staying with my schedule has been awesome). In the past week, there’s been a dramatic improvement in how I feel. I’m crawling out the other side and starting to lose that green around the gills feeling.
Are you going to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl?
Yes! It’s funny because I have NO IDEA if the baby is a boy or a girl (Last time, I had a dream our baby was a girl, even after the early ultrasound tech told us Liv was a boy). We’re excited to find out, and would be thrilled either way. Just praying for a healthy baby.
Where is your dress from?
Thank you for all of the sweet compliments on the tunic dress. It’s an awesome summer/spring dress, and a preggo’s dream since it’s light and looser fitting. I got it from Shopbop a couple of weeks ago (and they’re having an amazing 25% off sale right now, too).
How is Livi taking the news?
She is already an amazing big sis. She was really excited when we told her -she started clapping and cheering, since she’d been asking for a little brother or sister for a few months- and has been so sweet. Randomly throughout the day, she’ll talk to my belly or give it a little kiss. We have some books that we’ve read to her about becoming a big sister, but would love any tips or ideas for the transition. My heart is already a puddle of mush, so I can’t even imagine seeing the two of them together. Brb, it makes me cry just thinking about it.
Is the blog going to change?
Nope, everything should pretty much stay the same! See the “Family” tab at the top of the blog? All of my pregnancy and baby-related posts will go there. Of course, little snippets may make their way on the main page every blue moon (as my family is a huge part of my life), but this way, those who are interested can check it out, and those who would prefer to skip those can stay on the main page for the usual fitness stuff, recipes, and shenanigans. I’ve been writing posts about the pregnancy this entire time, so they should be up on the Family page later today!
Thank you again for all of your kind words. I appreciate them, and you, more than you know. <3
If you have any Family page (or regular page) requests in the meantime, please let me know! See ya later today with your regularly scheduled blog programming. 😉
Have a wonderful morning.
xoxo
Gina
Congrats again!! I’m excited to follow along with the new pregnancy posts!! My son is 3 also and we are trying for baby number 2:) have a nice day!!
SO Happy for your sweet little family of 3, going on 4!!!! It has been a joy to follow your story over the last 5 years. Thank you for sharing with us! Congratulations again!
Gina, I am so excited for you. I have been soaking up your older pregnancy posts because I am 24 weeks today and so happy that you will post new things on being fit and pregnant. Please, if you could do a post on how to workout when you are pregnant. I did not even know I was pregnant until month 3 so my workouts did not change at all in the beginning (HIIT, spinning, heavy weight lifting – if I only knew…) but everything developed just fine. The first five month were really easy, only nauseaus and fatigue but I did all my workouts. Now – 24 weeks my belly is bigger and I get tired a lot faster. I am scared doing weights, I am scared to run (even though I still go for 8km once a week, really slow but still) – I’d love to do Yoga at home but all these pregnancy workouts on youtube are just SO BORING. I did all of your BARRE workouts but I am so insecure on what’s okay and what’s not because even my instructors at the Gym have different opinions.
Can’t wait for your updates!!! All the best for week 13, Sabrina
i definitely will put together some posts!
congratulations to you!!!
Soooo exciting! The pilot looks so proud holding up the ultrasound pic with you!
So thrilled for you and your growing family. I would love to hear about your fitness and nutrition through this pregnancy. As a new mom I definitely read all of your posts on your pregnancy and experiences with Livi.
Congrats on the exciting news!! 😀 So happy for y’all!
I hit 18 weeks this week so I’m excited to follow another pregnant HLB! I also had a relatively easy first trimester and that’s what tipped me off to thinking it was a boy (and I was confirmed right this week!)
so so exciting <3
Congratulations!! So excited for you three…cheers to you and a healthy pregnancy!
Congratulations Gina! I was 13 weeks on Tuesday so this is super exciting to me!!! Congratulations again to you and your family, so happy for all of you!!!! 🙂
Yayyy!! I’m so excited for you!!! I also feel like everyone in the blog world is pregnant!! haha
So happy for you!! We just had our 2nd baby last April – she is going to be 1 year next week (happy tears sniff sniff) Our 1st baby boy (Liv’s age) did really well with the transition being a big bro. All the jealousy and acting out stuff just didn’t happen and I was so worried about it! We had a present waiting for him at the hospital from the baby and had him give the baby a little present too – someone told me that and I thought it was a great idea. Congratulations! Hope you have a smooth healthy pregnancy – can’t wait to hear what you are having!! XO
I had so many emotions when we went from one to two as far as how my little girl would adjust to be a big sister. Almost one year in to having two I can say that love just multiplies for everyone. My daughter has been an amazing big sister to her brother. Reading a few books and having your daughter be a part of the excitement is all it will take! My kids are three years apart and it’s been great. The hardest part for my daughter was that after a c-section, I couldn’t lie down with her at night for the first couple of weeks at bedtime. What a blessing for your family. Congrats,
that is so awesome to hear <3
thank you!!
Ha I second Erin’s comment. About half of the blogs I am reading are about being pregnant! Did you guys all make a pact and do it at the same time?? 🙂
hahah! preggie pact!
This is all just so exciting! I love that pic of Liv–so darling. A
And I agree, having a 2nd one (in August) will basically melt my heart. (Yeah, another pregnant blogger here, hah!) We will have two girls then, so it should be an awesome, fun, ( & dramatic!!) time. 😉
I love that so many bloggers are pregnant right now! It’s funny how it seems to go in waves or something. 😉 I bet Livi will make the BEST big sister! She’s such a sweetie! Congrats again, Gina! So thrilled for you! <3
This was such exciting news to see yesterday….a big congratulations to you and your fam!
It must be funny to keep such a big secret from everyone….Especially feeling like ‘death on a stick’ hahah…… Nice to finally let this great news out 🙂 I have also heard that it is a really speical time when just you and your partner have this special secret! I love the Big Sister shirt! So cute.
Hope you just keep feeling better and better! Take care! 🙂
haha! yes, it was rough 🙂
thank you so much!!
YAY!!! What a sweet pic of Livi…..awwww! Makes me want a little one 😉
xxoo
So excited for you guys! I’ve heard of hospitals offering “big brother/big sister” classes. I’m pretty sure Lauren Meyer took Trace to one before Hallie was born. Definitely ask her or look into it. I think they were happy with the class and Trace enjoyed learning how to be a big brother and a good helper :). Might be great for Liv.
i will definitely check that out. thank you!!
Woah between you and PBF, it’s like baby heaven. I LOVE pregnancy updates :).
hahah! thank you 🙂 i love reading them, too
Congrats, this is great news for you and your family. Count your blessings that you are able to have another baby. Hope you stay feeling well and everyone is happy & healthy.
Congrats to you, Tom, and Livi!! How exciting!!! Sending you all lots of love!! xoxoxo
Congrats, Gina! So excited for you and your family!! I just had my first in February and loved reading through the Family page while I was pregnant! I can’t wait to follow along again!
thank you so much, tabatha!
Congratulations, such an exciting time! I’m sure you will see this tip mentioned lots of places about helping the first born accept the new baby, but it really worked well for us – have Livi pick out one of her stuffed animals or other soft toy to bring to the baby the first time she will meet him or her. My older daughter chose a panda that was special to her because her dad had brought it back for her from a business trip. Six years later we still have that panda and they both talk about how big sis gave it to little sis as her first present. It helps them remember and me remember that super special moment (and the associated pictures taken of that moment help as well).
i love this idea so much!
I am sooo beyond happy for you all!!! Having 2 is easier. You will do great!
As for Livi and her new baby sis/bro…Don’t be surprised if she does pull away at first. My middle son who is 7 did that last year when we brought home my daughter. Complicated pregnancy and birth put her in the NICU for a month…so he didn’t get to meet her til she was a month old. He was cool but kind of pulled away. It took time, maybe a couple months for him to reallllly warm up to her. NOW though he is constantly by her side. He does silly faces to her and she goes crazy. When my mom picks him up from school and he gets in the car next her she gets really excited. I can already tell they are going to be super close. My oldest is 17 and he is very close to her too.
It will be an adjustment for sure.
I LOVE the idea of having Livi bring one of her stuffed animals to the new baby.
very good to know. thank you!!
I remember reading along when you were first hoping to get pregnant with Liv, and the challenges you two had faced.. I can only imagine how much more of a gift this much feel like to be expecting baby #2. And seriously- what a great reason to eat all the things! 😉
thank you so much! seriously. we thought it would take much longer <3 thank you, friend! and yes, definitely eating all the things haha
Very excited for your family, and I look forward to following your pregnancy journey! So glad you feel good when teaching classes! 🙂
hey, how did bodypump 93 go??? i’m teaching tracks 3-5 for our launch and trying to practice like crazy haha
Hi Gina! I’ve taught BP 93 twice, and found it VERY easy to learn and teach. The members love it so far. Chest is hard with all that isolation, although the song is a sleeper. Have fun and good luck! (Rock that fitness magic during track 5, please!!)
that’s good to know! and yes, the chest tracking is borrrrrrring. GIRL, i am working on that sassiness for track 5! she was SO GOOD
I’m so so happy for you!!! My sister just had her second, her oldest was 2. She was so nervous about how Phillip would be but he LOVES his brother. He calls him “my baby” all the time and loves to bring him toys to share. – I know Liv will be the best big sister!
so cute! love hearing stories like this 🙂
Congrats! My husband and I are currently trying to conceive. Would love posts about pre-natal fitness! Also, any books you would recommend regarding health/nutrition during pregnancy?
definitely! i’m working on putting together a ton of them 🙂 i never really found a book i loved with nutrition and health tips for pregnancy. the bradley method class i took gave me the best nutrition info that i found
sending baby wishes to you <3
Congratulations! Although it was expected after I read your family posts last week 🙂 I’m glad Olivia is taking the news well. I love having siblings and I hope she does too!

Woooot Gina!!!!! I don’t visit your blog just for one day and see I missed the BIG announcement 🙂 🙂 Congratulations & sending lots of XOXO for you and the little one. TC.
thank you, charuta!
are you going to explain the backdated post situation? I know you got a lot of questions on that and I’m still a little confused… did something happen that caused the delay or mix up? You obviously don’t have to answer anything but when I saw this post pop up that’s what I thought it would address!
I was actually wondering the same thing!
Yes, i wrote posts this entire time that will all be up on the family page this afternoon. That’s why last week’s two were backdated. I meant to publish more so my positive pregnancy test post went up the same day as my announcement, but since I got a lot of complaints I’m just posting them all at once later today
Ohh! I get it. thanks for the response.
no prob! thanks for reading <3
Again, very happy for you. I’m excited to “follow along ” a bit on your family page posts, too!
LOVED THESE!!!!!!!! I never think to ask questions, but loved hearing more details!!!!! 😀 <3
I feel like everyone in the blog world is preggers right now. Must be something about the blog! Lol…congrats again!!!
I think Liv will be a wonderful big sis!!!! She will probably be a huge help to you, too, which will help a lot in the transition as she’ll feel needed and important.
Again, so happy for all 3 of you!
xoxo
thank you so much! i think she’ll be a big helper, too. she’s already telling me she wants to help with diapers and feed the baby a bottle haha
Congratulations!! So happy for you all! Best wishes for a happy & healthy pregnancy!
