Bitsy’s Brainfood (+ an awesome giveaway)
This post is sponsored by Bitsy’s Brainfood and includes an awesome giveaway, including a Target gift card. Read on for more details!
I’m always looking for quick and healthy snack options for Liv, but her tastes and preferences are constantly changing. Some days she’s crushing crudités and hummus, and others, I’m trying to figure out if she’s eaten a single vegetable. It all balances out, right? I love to make her snacks at home, but for treats and portable options, I’m pretty particular about what I’ll purchase to have on hand.
We were excited to see that Bitsy’s Brainfood kindly sent us a box of their snacks to try out, plus two cute shirts.
(Mine says “We got the beet.”)
Bitsy’s Brainfood was started by two moms who believe that healthy bodies and minds are connected, and that learning to eat healthy should be enjoyable. They were shopping for snacks for their kids, and realized that the snack aisle wasn’t healthy, and the healthy aisle wasn’t fun. It was their lightbulb moment to combine the two, and create snacks to nurture growing bodies, minds and imaginations. They want to empower children to make healthy choices, which is why they don’t hide the fact that there are fruits and veggies in the snacks.
They sent two cereals (Fruit and Veggie 1,2,3 and Green Berry Blast, which is gluten-free) and some cookies (orange, chocolate, beet; zucchini, gingerbread, carrot; and sweet potato oatmeal raisin). Livi scoped out the bag, and was really interested in Bitsy, who looks like she could be related to Fancy Nancy, a character from some of Liv’s favorite books.
Some of the things I love:
-That they aren’t trying to “trick” kids into eating healthy. By teaching kids that fruits and vegetables are indeed in their food, and they are delicious, they’re giving them the options and knowledge to make healthy choices later on. It’s important for me to teach Liv that we need a balance of nutrients to grow strong and feel energized. Some foods are delicious, but not necessarily nutrient-dense, but too much could slow us down.
-They’re made with whole grains
-They’re nut-free, which is important because many schools and youth facilities are nut-free
-The snacks are fortified with vitamins, minerals and healthy fats, including DHA + EPA. I was excited to be reading through the label when I saw Omega 3 oil, as it’s something I add to our smoothies, and pea protein
-They’re colored with fruit and vegetable powder; no artificial colorings
-No genetically-modified ingredients, and are certified USDA organic
-You can find them at Target! Check out the store locator to find out if Bitsy’s Brainfood is near you.
What Liv loves:
-The taste. She LOVES the cookies and especially loves the Sweet Potato Oatmeal Raisin. As far as the cereals go, we don’t do a ton of plain cereals for breakfast, but I’ve been including them in parfaits with fruit and yogurt. She really enjoys the crunchy bits of the cereal in the parfaits. I’ve also been known to down a mug full of the Green Berry Blast cereal with some almond milk after spin class. 😉
-Learning! She is really into learning letters and sounds right now, and the cookies are shaped by letters. We’ll put them together to spell short words and go over the sounds that each letter makes. It’s pretty awesome to infuse reading and learning into snack time.
And now, it’s giveaway time:

This post is sponsored by Bitsy’s Brainfood and as always, all opinions are my own. Thank you so much for supporting this blog and the companies who help to support our family.
My favorite healthy snack is veggies and hummus. Or if i’m on the go, then a mini cliff or larabar!
these are adorable! love this company too!
My favorite snack is an apple or banana with peanut butter!
My favorite healthy snack is veggies and hummus or a piece of fruit. My husband travels for work and I always hide little treats and snacks in his suitcase, but it can be hard to find packaged stuff that isn’t junk. Those cookies and cereals seem like a great option for my “big kid”
I love fresh fruit for a sweet snack and baked peas with laughing cow cheese for a little crunch!
We love nuts and roasted cinnamon chickpeas for the crunch!
I have so many favorite snacks. Fruit and vegetables are my usual go-to’s
My daughter’s (8) favorite healthy snack is a banana which seems silly I know but it’s huge for a child that hates all fruit and veggies. It’s been a major struggle to get to the place we are at with her now. My son (2.5) will eat practically anything under the sun. He’s way easier!
My 3 year old loves hummus, olives and cherry tomatoes. Her newest thing is to stab an apple with a fork and then eat it but tell me she is eating her lollipop. My favorite healthy snack is chips, salsa and refried beans.
My favorite snack is plain yogurt with toppings like granola, honey, or fruit. Yum!
my 2 year old will eat carbs all day if i let her! her favorite snacks are fruits hands down!
my 13 yr old loves green grapes and some soymilk for a snack. my 11 yr old loves to munch on carrots!
My baby is only 2 months old so her favorite snack is definitely breastmilk, mine are homemade granola bars right now. With brewer’s yeast for the milk making power.
We love bananas and pb, but sometimes you need snacks that are more portable and on the go. Sounds great!
My daughter loves oranges. My son’s love corn.
My daughter LOVES fresh fruit, especially berries!
Would love to try!

My favorite snack lately is a banana with almond butter and cinnamon…sometimes frozen 🙂
I love microwaving apples and sprinkling cinnamon on top!
Fruit is my favorite snack! Baked veggie chips are another go-to for me. I have seen these snacks at Target and was curious if they tasted good. I’ll have to pick some up next time!
I love fruit or cut up veggies as a snack — gotta have some crunch!
My son is 10 months old and right now his fav snack is plums organics teething cookies (the pumpkin and banana flavor) and blueberries (all day, erryday)! My fav snack is a Larabar or apple slices with almond or peanut butter.
I love the idea of healthy snacks for my little one! My favorite snacks are almonds, granola or fresh fruit.
Fruit, yogurt, cereal, Mama Chia – we love snacks! I hope they have these at my Target.

Bananas are my #1 go-to snack… so delicious AND easy on my sensitive tummy:)
Love veggies and hummus as a snack!
I have seen these at Target and almost bought some last time I was in. I’ll have to pick them up next time for sure. I try to get my kids to eat a lot of fruits and veggies but they tend to gravitate towards crackers and granola bars.
I’ve always been tempted to give these snacks a try! My current snack is a trail mix of golden raisins, chocolate chips, and cashews.
i’ve seen these at Target (packaging jumped out at me) and was curious! Thanks for the post and review!
I would love to introduce these products to my 14 month-old little boy! I worry all the time I’m not feeding him enough veggies. This line looks wonderful!
My 4 year old is going through a cinnamon toast phase. Not exactly the healthiest meal but at least he loves smoothies – even green ones!
I totally feel ya on having a toddler love something one day & the next you are praying that they consumed something nutritionally! The struggle is real!
would love to get some and give them to my niece and nephew. the eating habits they have are horrible. I keep telling them they are going to turn into mac n cheese…..
side note, your daughter has the best eyelashes. I have none and what I do have are blonde. I would love to have eyelashes like that!!! So pretty.
Today my picky eating toddler and I went to Target. When I saw the Bitsy’s Brainfood, I decided to pick up a bag – we got the Orangle a Chocolate Beet letter cookies. My daughter LOVED them! These are our new healthy snack! 🙂
