Along with the fun adventures of this past weekend, I also had the chance to do some cooking. I made some lactation oaties for a friend who just had twins:
(I told the Pilot he would lactate if he ate any)
sautéed BBQ zucchini to go with lunch one afternoon
and some Paleo bread for us to enjoy this week.
The bread is an almost-weekly staple; I especially love it with a smear of sunflower seed butter and drizzle of honey.
In addition to the cooking, I had a few minutes to make a sell/donate stash from our closet.
I took some clothes to Buffalo Exchange to sell and I have to say, it’s a special kind of judgment when the sales associate digs through your clothing, deciding what they’ll keep. It’s an extra special type of judgment when said clothing buyer hardly takes anything from your pile, but has a heyday with the neon Forever 21 garb from the pile next to yours. I felt very old.
Usually when I go through my closet to donate and sell items, I have a pretty good idea of what I need to take to Goodwill, and what Buffalo might take. This time I was totally off!
It’s pretty easy for me to take clothes I’ll never wear again to make room in the closet, but the tried, true (and grungy) items tend to have a longer shelf life.
I have a few t-shirts that I love to lounge around in:
my Tiger Sharks shirt, any of the Pilot’s graphic tees (I especially love sleeping in them when he’s deployed), a few race/gym shirts
(still have that shirt, 3 years later)
and anything with soft Pima cotton.
Needless to say, I was pretty stoked when Reebok sent two super comfy tees this month as part of our partnership.
They fit well, have a nice stretch to them, and the luxurious fabric made me want to cry tears of joy. I can tell I’ll be wearing them a lot!
I loved the shirts so much that I asked Reebok if they’d like to do a giveaway and was so excited when they said yes.
One lucky winner will receive one of each of these shirts:
(the short sleeve V neck and love fit tee)
All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite T-shirt, or something in your closet you’ll always keep.
I’ll pick a random winner tomorrow (Wednesday, 5/29) at midnight EST.
Enjoy your night!
xoxo
Gina
My brothers high school soccer tshirt.. I stole when I was in high school.. still wear it.. it’s grungy and too big, but it’s ridiculously soft!
I have a long sleeved tee in my closet that used to be my dad’s. It’s completely shrunken so it’s tight even on me, but it’s from a race that my dad ran the day that my mom told him that she was pregnant with me! I can barely fit into the thing anymore, but it’s so neat to have it!
I have a t-shirt from officer training school from about 18 years ago, and still use it as a sleep shirt!
My fav t-shirt is an over sized shirt I borrowed (took) from my husband. Its my fav thing to sleep in…so comfy and soft!
I have shirts from high school that I have not gotten rid of.
My lollapalooza t shirts! Especially the one from my first year attending!
My favorite tee is one that I got as a freebie in a 10k I ran last year – its super comfy and I also won first in my age group at that race so its extra special 🙂 These are so cute! Thanks for being so generous Gina!
I have this ratty old hoodie from Long Beach Island (NJ shore) that my dad bought me maybe 15 years ago. It’s in such bad shape, I only wear it around my apartment but I will never part with it! So many memories.
My favorite item in my closet is a cotton long sleeve button down shirt that is extra large and very soft.
I had a bunch of old tshirts that were well beyond wearing anymore, but because of the sentimental value could not bare to part with them. So my mom took 12 of those old sentimental favorites and turned them into a tshirt quilt. I can’t wear them anymore, but found another way to use them to hold onto those memories. I love it!
I have a problem with keeping clothes that were ever meaningful to me… Probably the worst offender is an old sweatshirt that my class designed in 5th grade. It still fits (mostly – things were baggier in the 90s), but it is pushing 20 years old… and now I feel old.
Although I do rotate my race t-shirts every year – I always keep the shirts from important races that I’ve run (first race ever, PB, first half).
I also have a shirt that says “Geologists know what makes the Bedrock” hehe 😉
I have a long sleeve hooded tee shirt I bought last fall at my alma mater’s bookstore. What makes this tee such a find? Long sleeves that are actually long enough for my gorilla arms. It is very unusual for me to find long sleeve shirts off the rack. Very. Unusual.
🙂
My sombrero that I brought home from an unforgettable vacation in Mexico! Not only does it hold fond memories, It’s so much fun to break out every now and again (Cinco de Mayo, Margarita party, etc!)
My old college long sleeve T’s and sweatshirts. The sleeves are all tattered but I just cannot let go!
I have an old gray t-shirt so worn and comfy that I love (although I have no idea where it’s from) and a large oversized sweatshirt from my husband that is one of my faves too 🙂
My PINK Victoria’s Secret tee is so comfy amid bright! Wear it a lot!
Woops meant *and bright 🙂
i am a t-shirt junky, my favorite t-shirt for the past five years is a purple shirt from old navy with a huge peace sign on it. it fits perfect and is so soft.
Something is my closet I’ll always keep… my race shirts. I just can’t bring myself to give them away! They’re all stacked in a few rubbermaid tubs, and we lug them from house to house to house, but I can’t part with them! I’d really love to make a t-shirt quilt out of them… but that requires getting my butt in gear! Maybe this winter!
I’ll always keep my tshirts from my high school and college. They’re full of memories! I love to sleepin my hubby’s ts though. So comfy!
Gap makes my favorite tees, they have just a tiny bit of stretch to them! The best!
I have my favorite black v neck that is so soft, never getting rid of it!
I could never get rid of any of my college track sweats – I love them!
One of those university type long sleeve T-shirts that has my new last name 🙂
I’ve been seeing those Reebok tees all over the blog world and have been dying to get my hands on one! Love!
I have shirts from (just about) every show I’ve been in, and those are never going anywhere! My first 12 were made into an amazing quilt, and that’s about all I’d be willing to do with them.
Reebok has my heart! I am a size small and would love both of these! I have some St. Michael’s College sweatshirts that I will likely never get rid of! So many memories:)
My favorite t is one of my dad’s plain white v-necks…I’ve worn the same one for many years. The material is now thinning, it’s super soft, and has a few holes but I love it!!
I’ll never get rid of my husband’s high school soccer sweatshirt… it’s so worn and comfortable. Perfect for those rainy days where all you want to do is sit on the couch, drink tea and read a book 🙂
Just like many others said, I can’t part with my college tees!
I have a “good luck” T-shirt from my grandmother that I wore to all my high school AP tests, the SAT, the ACT, and the GRE! If I could pull it off, I’d wear it to job interviews. I also like to sleep in it when I’m going through something difficult in my life — it just seems to bring good vibes my way. It’s super soft.
I’ll probably never throw away my old college t-shirts — they are literally the comfiest things in existence (even if they’re getting just a liiiittle old) 😉 love the Reebok tees!
I have a grass-green colored tshirt that says Hakala Trucking (an old friend’s family’s company). It has rips and runs everywhere on it, but it is the softest shirt I have ever owned. I’ve had it since I played softball in elementary school (Hakala Trucking sponsored our tear), so about 13 years. I wear it every Christmas morning. My dad was so sick of the shirt I actually caught him throwing it away!! I pulled it out of the trash, gave it a good wash, and it managed to make the trip to Tucson with me two years ago.
The paleo bread looks delish! I’m going to make it tonight.
I have held on to a lot of my sports t-shirts from high school. I know I should get rid of them but I just can’t.
I love wearing my husbands tees, he has a few that are cotton but just super soft and comfy.
I have a hard time getting rid of clothes. I’ll probably always keep all my good fitting jeans because even after they get holes, I still like them. My favorite Tshirt is a soft scoop neck one from Ann Taylor.
Hahaha – I don’t usually have a problem getting rid of old clothes but my husband sure does! He has an entire half of a dresser – 4 big drawers’ worth – of nothing but t-shirts. Some are way too big, or way too small, or have holes, but he just can’t part with any of his collection. 🙂
I will never be able to get rid of my first pair of Sevens. I got them in like 2003 (has it really been that long?!) and they have been patched a couple of times and feel more like sweat pants than jeans at this point. I’m pretty good at purging old t’s once they turn into crop tops (how does that happen?) and have sweat stains, but it’s hard for me to part with jeans.
I have an old Hollister men’s tshirt that is so soft. I refuse to get rid of it even though it is probably 8 years old.
I love the short sleeve V-neck!
I have some old american eagle and ed hardy tees that I refuse to get rid of just because they are so soft and great to sleep in.
The Express SweatshirT I Got For Christmas Of ’92 From My Then Boyfriend, Now My Hubby, My Senior Year In High school. It’s So Soft And Worn, Even Wore It While I Was Pregnant With All Four Of Our Kids.Love It! 🙂
Love the Love Fitness shirt!
I have an old Yale t-shirt that I will never get rid of- its so vintage looking and comfy (and just wearing it makes me feel smart). I have not a clue where it came from though, I really don’t think i know anyone that went to Yale.
I can’t really think of anything I’ve kept because its comfortable but I do still have my jean shorts and my denim overalls from junior high (I’m 34!) just because I love threatening my 12 yr old that I’ll wear the overalls to pick her up from school. I absolutely do not wear the same size as when I was that age but the overalls were big on me when i wore them originally
My favorite tee is my shirt from senior year! I’ve washed it so many times it is so super comfy!
My favorite shirt is my black v-neck which is currently missing! I love it because it is so versatile!
It’s always hard for me to justify getting rid of soft tshirts. They are just so comfy and worn.
I have the very first Ohio State sweatshirt I bought my freshman year of college (SOOOO long ago) and it carries so many good memories, that I’ll never be able to part with it!
I love that Love Fitness shirt! I have two plastic bins full of old heavy t-shirt’s that are collecting dust because I have my handful of light cotton tees on rotation.
Jeans from high school..so comfy!
I’ll always keep my high school volleyball hoodie!
