Along with the fun adventures of this past weekend, I also had the chance to do some cooking. I made some lactation oaties for a friend who just had twins:
(I told the Pilot he would lactate if he ate any)
sautéed BBQ zucchini to go with lunch one afternoon
and some Paleo bread for us to enjoy this week.
The bread is an almost-weekly staple; I especially love it with a smear of sunflower seed butter and drizzle of honey.
In addition to the cooking, I had a few minutes to make a sell/donate stash from our closet.
I took some clothes to Buffalo Exchange to sell and I have to say, it’s a special kind of judgment when the sales associate digs through your clothing, deciding what they’ll keep. It’s an extra special type of judgment when said clothing buyer hardly takes anything from your pile, but has a heyday with the neon Forever 21 garb from the pile next to yours. I felt very old.
Usually when I go through my closet to donate and sell items, I have a pretty good idea of what I need to take to Goodwill, and what Buffalo might take. This time I was totally off!
It’s pretty easy for me to take clothes I’ll never wear again to make room in the closet, but the tried, true (and grungy) items tend to have a longer shelf life.
I have a few t-shirts that I love to lounge around in:
my Tiger Sharks shirt, any of the Pilot’s graphic tees (I especially love sleeping in them when he’s deployed), a few race/gym shirts
(still have that shirt, 3 years later)
and anything with soft Pima cotton.
Needless to say, I was pretty stoked when Reebok sent two super comfy tees this month as part of our partnership.
They fit well, have a nice stretch to them, and the luxurious fabric made me want to cry tears of joy. I can tell I’ll be wearing them a lot!
I loved the shirts so much that I asked Reebok if they’d like to do a giveaway and was so excited when they said yes.
One lucky winner will receive one of each of these shirts:
(the short sleeve V neck and love fit tee)
All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite T-shirt, or something in your closet you’ll always keep.
I’ll pick a random winner tomorrow (Wednesday, 5/29) at midnight EST.
Enjoy your night!
xoxo
Gina
My first race (running) shirt!
I have tried to sell clothes to Buffalo Exchange twice, and one time they rejected everything, and the second time took one item. I felt like a huge dork, especially when they took almost all of my friend’s pile.
Some of my favorite clothes (that I still have 8 years later) are things that I found in the “clothing swap” that my college had at the end of every semester. I got them all for free!
As for the T-shirt giveaway, I like that pink-reddish one!
I’m not attached to most of my clothing, but I don’t think I will ever be able to get rid of my fest half marathon shirt. I worked hard for it!
I think I’ll always keep my comfy vneck tees from J Crew
I have a sweatshirt from the Bollettieri tennis program that was my college boyfriend’s (and I just sort-of kept).
FYI – I got this my freshman year in college (spring of 1988) so I’ve had that sweatshirt 25 years or over half my life now!!! And, I still wear it!!!
My fave t-shirt is my tech race shirt from my first half-marathon!
My favorite t-shirt right now is a recent bright pink one I got from volunteering as a coach with Girls on the Run! It’s the epitome color of pink, and I feel good advertising such a positive program!
My favorite tee’s are target tshirts – they’re comfy and cheap, so i don’t mind getting them dirty!
The love fitness t is adorable. The items in my closet I just can’t seem to get rid of, although I really should, are my ill_fitting yet oh so comfortable brushed cotton pajama bottoms. I wish all,my clothes felt as comfortable as they do!
my favorite t-shirt is this blue and white shirt from anthro. it about a year old but it fits so nice and has this cute key hole design.
My favorite tshirt is one of my husband’s old Air Force PT shirts. It has so many holes in it, but I still sleep in because it’s broken in and so comfortable.
I could never get rid of my old dance competition tees. Even the ones that are yellowed and stained; they still hold a sentimental magic.
I still keep my senior year t-shirts because they have neat designs on them and don’t necessarily look like highschool t-shirts. I love t-shirts made of thin cotton; they are so comfortable!
I have a couple of my boyfriend’s boxers and i love them especially for sleeping!! will never part with them! these shirts look awesome!!
I will always keep my black stretchy work out shorts that are starting to grow extra holes 🙂
A super soft, super worn yellow tee of my husband’s from high school!
I love the red shirt! I’m pretty good about getting rid of things that I rarely wear/are past the point of no return, but I can’t get rid of the crappy tshirts I got from my jobs throughout high school and college. I have at least 1 from each job. I guess they’re like trophies to me, because some of those jobs were hellish experiences…
I live in the H&M plain black and white tanks…I wear them under t-shirts for a layered look and wear them along around the house….
Something (kinda lame) in my closet that I’ll always keep is my dad’s old Utah Jazz basketball sweatshirt. It’s comforting, haha.
I played water polo in college so I love still wearing my shirts! I used to wear them to work out, but then I realized I was wearing them out too fast and I want to eventually make a T-shirt quilt out of them. They bring back such great memories of my team and our collage days!
Love those Reebok shirts!
The one thing in my closet I’ll always keep is the old Polo brand XL mens knit sweater that belonged to my grandfather. It was lying in his backseat one night when the fam went to dinner and he let me borrow it since the restaurant was freezing, and I forgot to give it back. He passed about a year later, so it’s a weird kind of sentimental thing for me.
I have an XL Reebok t shirt that my soccer coach gave me just about 10 years ago! It’s one of my go-to shirts to sleep in – it’s so big and comfy!
I will always keep my Dad’s Marine sweatshirt
I swear I will be buried with a Lululemon scarf I have had for a couple years. It is huge and so soft! If the weather is below 50 degrees I wear it with anything and everything. No shame.
I don’t think I will ever get rid of my old college and sorority tee shirts. They bring back amazing memories!
I love v necks especially when the fabric is so soft and comfy and the love fit tee seems perfect!
My favorite comfy shirt is a long sleeve cotton shirt from the fall 2001 high school cross country county championship meet I ran in (yikes I feel old). It’s nearly falling apart but super soft and I love it! My dad still likes to tease me about all the grief I gave him when he bought the shirt for me.
I have a few very bulky Ben & Jerry’s t-shirts I have had for almost 9 years. I keep them until they either get holes or start to come apart on the seams. They are my favorite shirts to sleep in with lots of funky colors. 🙂
I’d love one of those amazing tees!
Still wear my university hoodies (went to two, so have 3 hoodies!). So warm and comfy, makes me feel like a co-ed. 😉
I will never get rid of my gymnastic team shirts, tee and long sleeved…they are old and so faded that if I wear a bright sports bra you can see it through them but I love them to death. They are my go to sleep shirts!
I have a pair of American Eagle jeans from college that still fit like a glove and are super soft!
My favorite t shirts are my Clemson t shirts from when I was in college! So special!
I think my fave is the love fitness tee. I will never get rid of my rain boots, I love them, but I guess I will wear them out eventually living in Seattle!
I love keeping my old cheerleading T shirts from high school. We use to have a sports rivalry between the cheerleaders and cross country teams at our school because neither of us were really considered “sports”. We use to make tshirts with hidden “dis” messages or down puttings to one another’s teams. It was all good fun. My favorite memories 🙂
I love the Love Fitness shirt!
The thing in my closet I can’t live without is my mizuno wave creation running shoes. They are the only thing to keep the plantar fasciitis away! I just buy a new pair when the old ones start to make my feet hurt.
Jerseys from playing ultimate during the summer. They’re soooo comfy and remembering how fun each team was and playing with them makes them special!
I’ll never get rid of race t shirts (along with the race tags i don’t know what to do with YET) and t shirts from my boyfriend. An EXTREMELY soft Flaming Lips shirt that says “orgasmically good time”.
Something I will always keep in my closet is my dress from graduation. It was my first “real grownup” dress and is a classic style so will always be in fashion. Plus every time I wear it I will be reminded of my youth!
I love my American eagle v neck T. It’s the perfect length and goes with everything!
I will never get rid of my gymnastic team shirts, tee
The one t shirt that I will never get rid of is a House, MD shirt that belonged to my moms best friend. She passed away due to a year and a half struggle with brain cancer on 6/24/12 (I’m tearing up at the thought of her being gone for almost a year). She loved House and LOVED that shirt so when she passed away I asked her family it I could have that shirt as a way to remember her. It is, and always will be, my favorite shirt that I will ever own, I will never ever get rid of it. It has too much sentimental value to me. To add a lighter note through my tears, one reason I love that shirt so much, not just because it was hers, is she took a seam ripper and ripped the collar of the shirt off because it would “choke” her and she cut the bottom if it so it was a cropped shirt and she would wear it with a cami under it. She did that with all her shirts so it makes for a good memory!
I love both of my hoodies from my university. I graduated in 2006 and I still have both of them, though they’ve seen better days.
I have a hard time getting rid of any of my race shirts. So many good memories and experiences from them all!
I love wearing my race tshirts when I run outside.
The race shirt from my first 5k, it was such a huge accomplishment for me.
I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of my college sweatshirt. It’s not as white and bright as it used to be, but it’s something that will be difficult to part with.
My favorite shirt is the one from my first triathlon (Pasadena Tri 2011). It’s an extremely comfy tech fabric and its light grey with some black and red accents so its perfect to wear often.
I CAN’T give up my college field hockey tees-in particular the gray practice tee shirt I wore which has sweat stains under the pits. I basically only wear it to bed and around my apartment but I cant bring myself to throw it away!!
Those tees look so soft!
My favourite tee is an organic cotton graphic one I got in San Diego last year, it’s boxy, oversized and not cute but it’s so comfortable. I don’t think I’d ever get rid of it.
Any v-neck tshirt made from super soft pima cotton is always a favorite. I would live in tshirts and yoga pants if I could! As far as items I always keep, for me it is my Chaco sandles. I just keep getting them resoled over and over again until the straps finally wear out. So I guess I won’t really have the same pair forever, but I will always have several pairs in the closet!
Also so excited for SSU to begin! 🙂
