Friday Faves
Hi friends! Happy Friday! What are you up to this weekend?? Any fun plans? We are going to spend some time relaxing here at home, take the girls to Lego Land or somewhere fun, and meet up with friends. Nothing too crazy, and Iโm looking forward to a down weekend after two weeks of celebrations.
I took the Halloween decorations down, and need to replace our sole Thanksgiving decoration. He got a little smashed in the garage. Iโm also slowly sneaking Christmas decorations into the house. Weโll see how long it takes until the Pilot noticesโฆ.Iโm determined to use some of it before everything is packed up.
In standard Friday Fashion, here are some faves from the week and around the web! I always love to hear what youโre enjoying, too, so please shout it out in the comments section if you would like.
The first one is the 7-day reset! We are on day 4 right now, and it has been such a blast. The group support has been incredible, and our Facebook group is bumpinโ! Thank you so much to all of you who have been checking in online, and sending awesome pics.
I was kind of dreading giving up the nightly glass of vino for a while, but have been surprised by how awesome I feel this week. From sleeping better at night, I feel more rested, and I donโt have the blah sugar crash thing happening. Itโs made me remember how whole foods nourish and energize me, but I do like the soul-hugging stuff in there, too. This has been a great way to get back in touch with healthy eats (and make fruits and veggies taste REALLY good) heading back into the holiday season. Also, Iโve done the November Knockout Workout twice (OOF), and the legs are definitely feeling it.
A quick dinner we had this week:
(Base was romaine salad with bell pepper, cucumber, jicama and cilantro. Next, I topped it with brown rice, sautรฉed shrimp, and a sauce of Tamari, peanut butter, honey, olive oil, ginger and garlic.)
Snuggling on the couch with Caro while watching The Voice. Itโs hard to believe that this is the same rescue pup that was understandably terrified of the world. She goes for walks with us all the time now -before, she couldnโt walk on a leash and was scared to be outside, so we used to put her in the wagon with Liv- and her tail wags constantly. While sheโs come out of her shell, sheโs definitely more of a cat-dog. She sleeps and snores most of the day, and while she will beg in the kitchen for food (thanks for teaching her, Bella), she doesnโt come up to beg for attention. (Bella basically smacks us when we arenโt petting her.)
Just so she doesnโt feel left out, I’ll still wake her up from her daylong slumber to hold her like a baby. While I was watching The Voice, I reached over to snuggle Caro, and she sat like this for almost the entire episode while I rubbed her belly. She looks a little unsure in this picture haha.
Speaking of pets, we kind of adopted a feral cat. He started sleeping under our cars this past weekend, and while the neighborhood is swarming with cats (Iโm convinced at least 10 live in our neighborโs house), he tugged at my heart. He just looked so hungry and sad, and his little ribs were sticking out, so Liv and I went to Target and bought a bunch of cat food. We leave water and food out twice a day, and Iโm already starting to feel attached even though the Pilot and I are both allergicโฆ
Livi has changed his name a few times already. Heโs been Pumpkin, Parker, Lucinda and Uni so far.
(Iโve been Snapchatting it, along with the usual shenanigans if youโd like to follow along! Username: fitnessista)
Bake at it again with the poke bowl.
Tips to burn more calories while you strength train.
Primal Pit Paste. FINALLY a nontoxic deodorant that actually works. I have tried so many different types, and was kind of over spending $ on random deodorants that didnโt stand up to sweaty workouts and teaching. I had reverted back to the Tomโs brand (even though it has aluminum, it works really well) and Betsy had mentioned that this one is awesome. I decided to give it a whirl. It has a light lavender scent, and you only need to use a little at a time. Iโve already used it while teaching a hot barre class and a sweaty spin class, and it totally did the job.
A fun Beautycounter event. I was surrounded by inspiration, and loved chatting with women who are passionate about making safe and nontoxic products mainstream.
(bag is 50% off here // dress // choker // similar jacket)
LISA FRANK HAIR. Where have you been all my life??
Pumpkin spice cake mix cupcakes.
Why you should eat more seafood.
Cranberry and cacao nib protein muffins.
I CANโT WAIT FOR THIS. You can pre-order it now!! I totally cried listening to โItโs Quiet Uptownโ by Kelly Clarkson (you get 2 tracks when you pre-order). The rest is going to blow my mind.
The benefits of conditioning and why you should vary cardio training intensities.
Happy Friday, lovely friends!

I have yet to try a poke bowl. I need to get on that, but honestly I haven’t heard of any places near me that has them. I’m so jealous. CA always has the best food. Sometimes I feel like I should get back into IT consulting for the food! LOL
AhiPoke in Scottsdale is great!
Hi Gina! Not sure if it’s just me, but your posts still aren’t showing up in my Feedly – I had a bunch pop up on October 28, but nothing since.
Me, too! I just realized that…
Same here, I’m not getting any Feedly love from Gina!
i’m so sorry about the inconvenience. we’ve been working on it but can’t figure out what’s causing it
I was just popping in to say the same! Hope we get you back on Feedly soon!
me too! we’ve been working on it for 3 weeks now and can’t figure out what’s causing it
yes, i’m so sorry about that. we’re trying to get it fixed, but are currently stuck. my web developer, host, wp site care, and a techie friend all can’t figure out what it causing it. i’m going to try feedly support again, but they haven’t been responsive/helpful at all
Yay for chokers! I’ve never stopped liking them and can’t wait to rock one again! Thanks for the Caro update–I was wondering about her. Glad she’s so well-adjusted now. A cat-dog sounds lovely!
I have to check that primal pit paste out! I use Piper Wai and love it, but I’m always open to other natural deodorants.
This weekend I get to go to the wedding of one of my oldest friends! And I’m also finishing up writing the content and recording audio lessons for my first ever 4-week e-course. Exciting and nerve racking!

I’m so flippin excited about the Hamilton mixtape!!!! If only I could see the real thing…sigh…
Exactly what Lauren said!
The two pre-release songs are so great!! Can’t wait to hear the rest!
YESSS can’t wait!
Aww seeing Caro so happy makes me so happy! You know I’m partial to cats named Punkin. ๐
Do you know that none of your posts are showing up in Feedly?
yes, i’m so sorry for the inconvenience. we’ve been trying to get it fixed for 3 weeks now. we’re actually at a stuck point (my web developer, host, wordpress site care, and techie friend all can’t determine the cause). i’m going to reach out to one more person, so fingers crossed
I liked primal pit paste, but then it started irritating me. Have you tried lavanila deodorant? Maybe not the cleanest, but its one of my favs! No aluminum or parabens, works great, and pretty scents to choose from! I love the vanilla lavender. ๐
i’ll check it out if this one starts irritating me!
I think Primal Pit Paste works great but after a few days, the baking soda irritates my skin so I have to use it sparingly. If you have that issue, Meow Meow Treat makes a great baking soda free version that works well for me.
OHHH good to know
