Just Fondue It
Hiiiii ๐ Happy Friday! Anything fun planned for this weekend?
I pretty much disappeared from the earth yesterday (hardly tweeted or facebooked!)- I was under the weather, and so was Bella. I left the house to take her to the vet โsheโs much better now- but spent 90% of the day crawled up on the couch watching old episodes of Greyโs Anatomy. Thank you so much for the beautiful anniversary wishes! They definitely made me feel better, along with these gorgeous flowers from the swoon master himself.
Roses + stargazer lilies, which are making the house smell heavenly
Gorgeeeeeous.
When he got home from work, I didnโt look like I was going anywhere (still in my jammies), but he said that Iโd have to eat dinner anyway and coerced me to go to a late-night Melting Pot dinner.
Heโs tricky like that ๐
We love Melting Pot for an anniversary spot- they even put roses on your table, which you can take home, take a photo of you (we still have one from our first anniversary) and a card. Itโs pretty cute.
We got the usual โBig Night Outโ (go big or go home, eh?) with the usual appetizers and a spicy cheese dipping sauce:
[My fave were the green apples and carrots]
Salad
main course + all the dippers
We have our cooking strategy down to a science: order extra shrimp instead of the pork, cook the veggies and seafood first (we share the shrimp and lobster), and then I help the Pilot cook the meat (chicken and beef) for him to eat.
and the *other* main course ๐
Dessert!!
The Pilot kept moaning about being full, but I tried to explain to him that sometimes dessert is just something you eat. Not something you necessarily have to be *hungry* for ๐
For our chocolate fondue, we rolled with dark chocolate and peanut butter. In my dreams, Iโd like to swim in it with my mouth open. It would burn my skin, but thatโs a risk Iโd be willing to take ๐
Since it was a special occasion, they put us in one of the โcurtain boothsโ which has a curtain that closes it off. It was kind of weird to not be able to see any of our neighbors, but Iโm pretty sure they could hear us chatting and joking around.
It was a wonderful dinner.. Iโm glad he dragged me out of the house for it <3
Tons on the agenda today! We leave for Philly this afternoon and I havenโt packed a single thing. You know what we say about waiting until the last minuteโฆ. [then it only takes a minute]
See ya from the airport!
xoxo

One of our fave special occasion restaurants too! Love that place.
We always go to Melting Pot for our anniversary too, but they never do the flowers or picture at ours! Lame! I’ll have to tell them next time ๐
yes, they need to step it up! ๐
looks like a wonderful evening! happy anniversary again!
Happy Anniversary! Hope to see you in Philly! ๐
yay! i’m excited you’ll be there! ๐
amazing! that food looks so good, i would love to go to a fondue place sometime. i was under the weather yesterday too, but i didn’t get dragged out of the house for anything romantic lol
so jealous of everyone in philly this weekend, wish i could have gone!
You would like to swim in the chocolate peanut butter sauce, I’d like to swim in the cheese sauce. My gosh, I love fondue. Glad you and Bella are feeling better!
Oh, I love the Melting Pot. “They” also took that away from Omaha. Seriously, it’s killing me. ๐ I love your dessert quote: “I tried to explain to him that sometimes dessert is just something you eat. Not something you necessarily have to be *hungry* for.” Well said. ๐
Have a great time, feel better and safe travels!
PS, what’s in Philly?
the healthy living summit ๐
Oooooh cool beans! Have fun!
Cute!!! We don’t have the melting pot up here in Canada but we always see it when we travel and I have been too scared to step in!!! I freak about cooking my own seafood in a pot!! is it easy??
xxoo
totally easy! you just put it on your skewer, into the broth and cook 2 minutes. i was scared at first too, but it’s nbd
We celebrate our anniversary at Melting Pot too! In fact, two of them were at the melting pot in Tucson while we were in college. ๐
Those flowers are gorgeous and I’m glad you felt well enough to enjoy your night ๐
Safe travels to Philly!
What a great looking dinner—I still have never been to Melting Pot, but I’ve heard great things!
Awww, I love fondue! I’d definitely swim in that chocolate PB fondue too! So yummy!
Your dinner looked so cute and fun. ๐ I love the Melting Pot!
Have fun this weekend! ๐
I always LOL when you say things about swimming in food. I picture you swimming in that chocolate fondue with your mouth open, so hilarious! I can also totally relate. I would swim in chocolate fo sho. : )
i really want to do it. like augustus gloop. haha
I recently came across your blog looking on the web for fitness blogs directed to woman only. I love the site. Just wanted to comment about the Melting Pot. I have never been but I am planning my sister in laws bachlorette party there and we all can not wait. Everything looks amazing!!
welcome to the little blog ๐ you’ll love it- it’s fun to cook everything yourself and the dessert is to die for ๐
We go to the Melting Pot for our anniversary too! It’s so delicious but can definitely be expensive so we kinda save it for that special night.
sign up for the email list on their website- free chocolate fondue on your anniversary and then send out other coupons and deals!
So cute! Sounds like you had a wonderful evening. LOL about not needing to be hungry for dessert comment! My husband and I have that conversation at least once a week. I am now desperate to try the Melting Pot – I’ve never been!
I’ve never been to the melting pot before! I don’t think there’s one in D.C. actually.. maybe in nearby VA, I’ll have to check. It seems like a delicious date night restaurant, though!
Yay! Happy Anniversary! ๐
My birthday is tomorrow and Cody made reservations to take me to the Melting Pot! I’ve been before, but seeing this post made me even more excited!!!! Love it!
-Mrs. Web Wizard
P.S. So excited to hear about your little GIRL on the way! I never commented but I’ve been squealing for you ever since I found out! ๐
mrs web wizard!! so fun to see a comment from you ๐
have a very happy birthday! i still owe you two a whole foods package- let me know if you have any requests.
xoxo
Love The Melting Pot! I’m drooling over your dessert plate. Have fun in Philly!
Such a fun way to celebrate your anniversary! I’m glad the Pilot was able to get you out of the house for it ๐ Never been to the Melting Pot; here in MN it’s in an area we don’t often drive by, so I always forget it’s there…until I see/hear about someone else’s awesome experience! Have a great wknd!
Mmmm…I love fondue!!! Sounds like the perfect romantic anniversary dinner!!
I <3 Lilies! Those and tulips are my faves. Excellent choices Pilot! They're beautiful. I'm glad you're feeling Bella and you are feeling better and that you were able to have such an awesome meal out. Have a safe trip and enjoy the HLS! Looking forward to your recaps ๐
Yikes! I know this is understood but I still have to correct myself ๐ I’m glad that *you and Bella are feeling better. Phew, I feel better!
I love melting pot!! Congrats to you both!!!! I’ve never commented, but my marine comes home from deployment tomorrow and in my free time in the past couple days I find myself teetering over to the computer to watch the pilot coming home video. Of course it’s waterworks every time. You are such an inspiration and reading your blog has helped me get through this difficult time so much. Thank you for everything… I seriously feel like I know you know haha. Have a great trip!!
<3 Katie
Looks like a great dinner ๐
Whenever Will tells me he’s full at a restaurant, I tell him he’s delusional.
Sounds like you had a wonderful anniversary! My boyfriend took me their for my bday a few years ago and it was so fun and yummy. Dessert is the best part! And I remember we sat in one of their more secluded booths and they also gave me a card. Gotta love the little touches ๐
I’ve wanted to go to the melting pot for evvvvvver! In November, it will be my husband & my 5 year “dating ” anniversary. I know it sounds silly to celebrate a dating anniversary since we are married now (can’t belive its been two weeks already!), but I think being together 5 years is worth a celebration… and a fancy dinner ๐
Hopefully if I mention its for an anniversary we shall get a curtain booth too!
I hope you and Bella are feeling better today!!
we still do a little something on our dating anniversary, too. they way i think about it is that we’ve had the first anniversary a long longer than we’ve had the second. ๐
we celebrate our date-aversary too ๐
We love going to the Melting Pot! We have done the Big Night Out twice, but it is just too much food! The first time, we had to take the dessert fondue to go! So we usually just roll with the cheese and chocolate now and sometimes add a salad! Ours does flowers or balloons and a picture and a card on the table for special occasions! I won fondue twice last year through their FB page!
Have fun this weekend! Some places you might enjoy:
Sweet Freedom: http://www.sweetfreedombakery.com/ You have to go there. You’ll die.
Mi Lah (vegetarian restaurant): http://www.milahvegetarian.com/
Pumpkin restaurant: http://pumpkinphilly.com/restaurant/
๐ Happy Anniversary. Hope you feel better and have a safe trip!!
awesome, thank you so much!
Ohhh how I miss the Melting Pot. CJ and I went there for Valentines Day & our Anniversary last year! It’s totally worth the food coma!
I am so sorry to hear you were not feeling your best for your special day! Good thing you have a special man to make things better! I don’t think it would be possible to combine chocolate and peanut butter and have it not be delicious enough to swim in.
So sweet! Lillies are my mama’s favourite flowers! We have a Melting Pot in my town but I’ve never been…I should though considering I not only love cheese fondue but the chocolate one!
What a great date night! We still have never tried the Melting Pot, but every time you write about it, it makes me want to go there!
what a nice hubby! i am glad you were able to make it out for such a nice anniversary dinner.
Those flowers are so beautiful! ๐ Glad you and the Pilot had a great evening together!
You would LOVE mongolian hot pot. Similar to this, but you also get NOODLES!!!!!
Those flowers are gorgeous!!!
I have always wanted to try the Melting Pot — it looks incredible!
Beautiful flowers!!! We love the melting pot, perfect date night spot. Have a safe trip to Philly.
I’ve never been….and I don’t think I’ve had fondue yet either!
But it looks so confusing with all the stuff you have to do…like cooking and dipping and etc.
We went for our anniversary too and just got the dessert. A manager randomly came over and told us that extras of anything but the cheesecake are always complimentary. Which is pretty darn awesome!
So sweet! Have a safe trip- see you soon in Philly!
Have a safe flight! see yah tonight! hope you’re feeling better ๐
My husband and I call dessert a “spiritual hunger.” We’re never really hungry for dessert, but there’s always room for it!
i love that!
My sister worked at the Melting Pot for many, many years. Discounted chocolate. ๐
Be jealous. Be very jealous. Haha.
i’m beyond jealous. i’d get fired from drinking straight up chocolate in between serving tables, though ๐
what a nice evening. What cutie pies you two are!
Have a blast on this trip. ๐
Enjoy the holiday!
And I would prefer raclette instead of fondue – though, since I turned vegan, without the cheese it might loose its appeal ๐
Mmmm I love The Melting Pot, we love to go there on our anniversary too! Hope you’re feeling better and have fun at HLS!! ๐
“For our chocolate fondue, we rolled with dark chocolate and peanut butter. In my dreams, Iโd like to swim in it with my mouth open. It would burn my skin, but thatโs a risk Iโd be willing to take.”
Umm, I could not sum it up more perfectly. ๐
“they even put roses on your table, which you can take home, take a photo of you (we still have one from our first anniversary) and a card.”–
That’s good to know! I have been to the Melting Pot tons!! When we lived in Myrtle Beach, we spent MANY new year’s eves, anniversaries, bdays, etc at the M.P. And I ALWAYS saved room for dessert fondue..the best part of the evening ๐
Sorry you were sick and blah yesterday. Hope you’re feeling better and that you have a blast at HLS!!!
“and I havenโt packed a single thing. You know what we say about waiting until the last minuteโฆ. [then it only takes a minute]” <—- NEVER heard that…and I love it ๐
Love Melting Pot!! We went there for our first (dating) anniversary and did the exact same thing ๐ My favorite is the chocolate sauce with peanut butter and the rice crispies dipped in it! We had a booth with the curtains too and when I came back from the restroom I almost couldn’t find our table! Glad you are feeling better.
