Out with the Old
and in with the new:
It was high time for some new sneaks up in herrrre. They had a long life of kickboxing, BodyRock, dog walking, and walking around the track with my Kindle.. it was time to bid adieu. The new ones are from Kohl’s- they always have a good selection (and sweet deals) on Asics. The only bummer was that there was nothing in pink or purple 😉
How are you doing? I’m so so glad you guys liked the Spring Fever playlist!! It’s always fun to refresh the iPod with new workout jams. Also glad to hear I wasn’t the only who slept in this morning 😉
Despite my slow start, I ninja-kicked the to-do list,
walked Bella
snacked on two amazeballz
worked some more (lots of importante meetings coming up!)
and made a delicious and simple lunch.
Chopped Greek Salad
-1 large organic cucumber, seeded and diced
-1 organic red bell pepper, diced
-2 handfuls of grape tomatoes, sliced in half
-1 can organic chickpeas
-handful of chopped fresh parsley and mint
-juice of 1 Meyer lemon
-3 T hemp oil (or oil of choice)
-sea salt and pepper
I enjoyed some chopped salad atop a bed of arugula with balsamic
along with some organic chicken and stone ground mustard.
After lunch, I took my little *sis* to her first acupuncture appointment. (She actually has a brand-new baby blog!) It was glorious, per usual. I can’t wait to take the Pilot when he’s home- I know he’ll love it 😀
The effort to wear non-workout clothes continues….
I’m off to dance, dance, dance, dance…. 😉
See ya in the morning!
xoxo
Gina
Planning on doing a video post in the morning- any requests??
Something to think:
Wild Geese
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting–
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
That chopped salad looks and sounds amazing Gina! Have fun dancing. 🙂
Gina! Mary Oliver is my favorite poet and this is one of my absolute favorite poems. LOVE IT!!
I love getting new workout shoes. It makes it that much more fun!
btw what a cute dress!
Love that Mary Oliver poem! I had a professor in college who loved Mary Oliver and we used to read her stuff all the time.. some of it really hits home, despite the nature themes. 🙂
I LOVE new shoes 🙂 One of the best feelings EVER! And I am obsessed with chickpeas lately- I like your idea for ’em in a salad. Yumm. Enjoy some dancin (I got my dancin’ on this morning!!)
That salad looks delish!
I love that dress! You just reminded me I need new sneakers!
Your dress is so cute — can you take a pic of the shoes in slow-mo though? 🙂
You jump so high! That dress is really cute, and the salad looks delicious.
I love Asics and I’m a fan of the lime green and blue 🙂
I am not sure if you have ever done a post like this, but I would love one about your pantry staples! The basics you always have on hand to make awesome healthy eats!
Mary Oliver is so boss. 🙂 Thanks for posting a poem, Gina! I love seeing poetry creep into the food blogosphere! I’m a foodie and yoga/running enthusiast but I’m also a graduate student in Creative Writing, so this post was a special treat!
Keep up the good work!
I love that poem- it gave me the chills!! Lovely 🙂
New shoes are the greatest!! Enjoy!
I’m jealous of your ability to wear workout clothes all day. Some mornings I wake up and would give anything to stay in my workout gear – dressing up is not so much fun sometimes!
I love getting new shoes, it’s the best feeling! Have fun dancin 🙂
way to go on ninja kickin that to-do list, always feels good haha
I so need new running shoes…thanks for the reminder 🙂
I went to go get a new pair of my trusty Nike’s for those with no arches and my running store was gone 🙁
i do quite adore your creative fashion photos…
but it’s a shame i can’t really see your lovely shoes ! 😀
<3
thank you! i’ll post a better pic of them tomorrow!
What a beautiful poem; thanks for sharing.
Love getting new shoes — even sneakers! Are Asics the best in your opinion?
you have the BEST jumping and action shots! I need your skills!
I love the chopped greek salad…chickpeas, hemp oil, lemon…looks delish!
Way to score$$ on the shoes! Great job!
Have a super night, Gina 🙂
I love chickpeas! That salad looks so yummy!! And My favorite thing to buy is new workout shoes 🙂 I’m still looking for the perfect pink ones!
One of my favorite poems of all time! Gina, I love your jumping pics! I wish I could see those sandals betta!
i’ll post a close up tomorrow 🙂
I love that poem—I still remember the first time I heard it. Is that dorky? Your posts always put me in a good mood!
I love new sneakers. They always look so cool with workout outfits the first few days- like you’re more of a fitness model than actually going to work out!!
I love the springy ‘fit, by the way. Haha get it? SPRINGY ‘fit? I’m so corny 😀
i hope you got the kohls coupon in your email like i did!
“Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.”
That is my Facebook ‘About Me’ quote.
I love, so much.
Wow – I have to make those amazeballs! Do you keep them refrigerated?
yep 🙂
Lacing up a brand new pair of tennis shoes is such an amaizng feeling!! However, I have a really hard time parting with my old pairs. They kind of just hang out in my closet forever.
mine too! i know i should donate them but it takes a while
Girl, I love you, and the jumping pics are adorable, but all the blurriness isn’t very helpful when you’re looking for fashion inspiration. 🙂
sorry!! i’ll post clearer shots of the shoes tomorrow. i try to make the pics fun instead of “hey, look at me, i’m trying to pose like a model” but it’s hard to do clear shots when i’m moving around!
Haha, I definitely understand that. I always feel silly when I take “model-y” pictures of myself. Maybe you could take the fun pictures & then an upclose picture of accessories that might be hard to see? I defintely think the jumping pictures are fun, though, so I hope you won’t stop!
think i’m gonna make me some chickepea salad manana. and yes girlee, can’t see the shoes at all. 🙂
Getting new sneaks is the best!
I love buying new runners..just not the price tag that comes with them.
Your jump pictures always amuse me big time… I can get up maybe 2 inches, lol! 😉
Aww Gina! you totally look like http://zestyfyxx.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/despicable-meagnes.png in the jumping picture! hahah its the hair!
Could you do an update on the benefits/ difference you feel of acupuncture treatments?
sure!
I need a new pair of shoes. I was feeling a bit self-consious at the gym yesterday because mine were so grubby. Great poem, thanks for sharing!
You’re so cute! I love the jumping pictures! I need to get some new sneaks, too. Are Asics your favorite brand?
yep! nike for hip hop/dance cardio, asics for everything else
Love your fashion shot! I love getting new shoes too!
Yay for new sneakers AND an adorable spring dress!
I’m so jealous you get to wear cute dresses already! I still have to get through another month of two of coldness. 😛
Thanks for baby blog recommendation! I’m always looking for new ones 🙂
i love getting new sneaks. i need new ones now actually
That poem was gorgeous! Also I saw on your twitter that there are Meyer lemon and lavendar roons and I’m excited for you 🙂
Yum, going to have to make that salad – thanks! Would you mind sharing how you prepare the chicken?
Kohl’s DOES have the best deals on Asics!! I won’t spend more than $50 on them now! I know I already FB’ed my happiness for you and the Pilot 😀 But SO happyyyy for you 2!!
PS totally hearing the Taio Cruz sign-off 😀 Love it have fun!
That poem is amazing, and made my morning. Thank you!
