Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says โ€œHappy Friday]

Itโ€™s another lovely, cool day over here. Itโ€™s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

plant

Iโ€™m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I canโ€™t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighborโ€™s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldnโ€™t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think theyโ€™re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

roon

Iโ€™ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, Iโ€™ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

Fall is awesome for running. My poor pooch hates the heat so we never break three miles over the summer, but as soon as those temps drop, she’ll go four before I have to drop her off to finish up on my own.

  2. hippierunner on October 7, 2011 at 3:09 pm

I look forward to running outdoors without sweating buckets!

  3. Justine on October 7, 2011 at 3:09 pm

In California winter just means it’s finally cool enough to get through my lunch break runs. Days when the rain keeps me in I’ll skip the run and do my regular at home weights but maybe throw in a zumba video or something.

  4. Sejal M on October 7, 2011 at 3:10 pm

I’m a group fitness girl so I stick to group classes during all seasons! Spin, or bodypump are my faves.

  5. Laura on October 7, 2011 at 3:10 pm

I love love LOVE trail running in the fall. I live in Philly and the trees look so pretty in the fall. It makes for such a peaceful and beautiful run!!

  6. Haley Young on October 7, 2011 at 3:10 pm

My favorite workout is jogging with my dog! We both enjoy being outside so much more as the fall season rolls around ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Rebekah W on October 7, 2011 at 3:10 pm

I’ll be doing Turbofire this fall. I love it and it will keep me toasty and indoors. It’s already getting too cold here to do much outside. ๐Ÿ™

  8. Sarah on October 7, 2011 at 3:11 pm

I love just getting out and walking. The fall is my favorite time of year for being outside!

  9. Alicia P. on October 7, 2011 at 3:11 pm

I’ve been on a TurboFire kick. I’m almost done with week 4! ๐Ÿ™‚ Woot woot! I also love taking walks with my hubs since the weather is marvelous! I would like to try hot yoga this winter…sounds fabulous! As always, LOVE your blog! Hope you have a great day!

  10. michele on October 7, 2011 at 3:12 pm

I have been anxiously waiting another macaroon giveaway!!!! I want to taste them soooo bad! Yes I am begging LOL. Anyway, in the winter I love to do yoga at home in a relaxed atmosphere w/ a pot of tea waiting and a burning candle. Love that relaxed, warm, cozy workout in the winter.

  11. Tracey on October 7, 2011 at 3:12 pm

If possible, I would also be happy to get your macaroon recipe. My favorite fall/winter workouts are yoga and pilates. Having asthma, these workouts are a better fit for myself than running.

  12. Emily B on October 7, 2011 at 3:12 pm

I love any exercise outdoors. It gets dark early, there’s a chill in the air, you can smell fireplaces going, and you catch glimpses of families snuggled into their houses!

  13. Ashley on October 7, 2011 at 3:12 pm

I love to run outside and do yoga in the fall, but in the winter I stick to the gym, and take advantage of all the weight machines.

  14. Julianne Kelly on October 7, 2011 at 3:12 pm

I LOVE doing more work out videos…I live in DC and for some reason it has been cold here…so I get to stay inside and workout with my TV. But I’m packing my bags now to leave for DR… I’ll check the posts on Wednesday!!!

  15. Hannah Hawley (@sirenical) on October 7, 2011 at 3:13 pm

I love to go hiking and walking. Running is fun too.
The fall is my favorite, so anything that gets me outside and enjoying it before the snow flies is fine by me!

  16. Kristen on October 7, 2011 at 3:13 pm

Yay! Love giveaways! My favorite workout this fall is Pure Barre!! I take a 6am class before work and it’s such a great way to start my day!!

  17. Jen Leuck on October 7, 2011 at 3:13 pm

I love to do DVD workouts like P90X or 30 Day shred, along with hot yoga during the really cold months!

  18. Sara on October 7, 2011 at 3:14 pm

I love going for runs outside in the fall…much better than the treadmill!

  19. Andrea B. on October 7, 2011 at 3:14 pm

I love Zumba! It’s good all year round! Fall also makes running outside much more enjoyable!

  20. Kendall (On An Inhale) on October 7, 2011 at 3:14 pm

My favorite fall/winter workout is getting back to the gym! I try to be outside as much as possible when it is nice out, since it doesnt last long here in Boston! GREAT giveaway I could use a macaroon and a new foundation for my now pale face ๐Ÿ™‚ have a great weekend!

  21. Layla on October 7, 2011 at 3:14 pm

I love doing the really hot, sweaty stuff like P90X in the winter, since it’s too hot in the summer!!

    What a lovely giveaway!

  22. Jasmine on October 7, 2011 at 3:14 pm

Summer is usually too hot for me to workout outside and Winter’s too cold so I like to take advantage of the perfect fall temperature to go for long walks or bike rides. And since school has started again it also helps control my higher stress levels!

  23. Bree on October 7, 2011 at 3:15 pm

In the fall I LOVE running outdoors. The best runs are ones that can be completed with long running tights and a half zip fleece. Fall is by far the best season…for workouts and for EVERYTHING!

  24. bonnie on October 7, 2011 at 3:15 pm

Hiking outdoors when the weather allows

  25. Jess @ Truly.Into.Fitness on October 7, 2011 at 3:16 pm

I LOVE to go for jogs during the Fall/Winter season. It gets so crisp and chilly in Canada – I LOVE it ๐Ÿ™‚ And the smell of Fall alone is fantastic:)

  26. Laura on October 7, 2011 at 3:17 pm

I like biking around lakes/parks to see all the leaves changing!

  27. kim on October 7, 2011 at 3:17 pm

when winter starts, nothing sounds better than a long run – starting off chilly, ending sweaty!
thanks for your blog gina, i love the pix of bella!

  28. Mallory on October 7, 2011 at 3:17 pm

When the fall comes (we actually already had snowfall in Nova Scotia, Canada) I have to move inside. I tend to take more group classes (my gym offers them free with a membership) and do more weights instead of my summer routine of tons of hiking and swimming!

  29. Rebecca on October 7, 2011 at 3:17 pm

I live in a small town near the Puget Sound where it gets a little to chilly to bring your fitness outdoors for to long. During the winter I do a lot more indoor weight training, Zumba, yoga and kickboxing since during the summer I am out running, hiking or fishing and enjoying nature!

  30. Emily on October 7, 2011 at 3:17 pm

running! I love running in the cool brisk air!

  31. Vanessa on October 7, 2011 at 3:18 pm

I love switching it up by cross country skiing in the winter time! There are so many fun, active things to do in the snow. Get yourself some warm winter gear and you’re good to go!

  32. Gina on October 7, 2011 at 3:18 pm

Anything inside. Lately I have really been enjoying the Bodyrock.tv workouts and I plan on continuing those this fall/winter.

  33. Lauren W. on October 7, 2011 at 3:18 pm

Wow, such a great giveaway idea!! All things macaroon and sparkle related are totes up my alley.

For fall workouts, I LOVE running in the park and getting distracted by all the changing colored leaves. In the winter (I don’t even want to think about it…), I’m usually chugging along at the gym on the dreaded Stairmaster or treadmill, but this winter I bought a pass to a place that has aerial yoga!! So pumped to try it out but secretly terrified that I’ll be the one crashing to the ground when I fall out of the “hammock”.

  34. leah o on October 7, 2011 at 3:18 pm

I love doing hot yoga in the wintertime. My husband and I are originally from Colorado where the winters can be pretty brutal. Hot yoga always makes me thankful for the cool air when I’m done:) now that I’m pregnant Ill just stick to normal yoga and some nice long walks

  35. Dawn on October 7, 2011 at 3:18 pm

I love being able to get out and ride my bike and not be sweating to death! Once winter hits, I’ll take it inside and amp up the weights and do some yoga!

  36. Michelle on October 7, 2011 at 3:19 pm

When it starts to get cold outside I love doing some hot yoga especially first thing in the morning. Perfect way to start the day =)

  37. Lauren on October 7, 2011 at 3:19 pm

I love outdoor runs once it gets a little cooler out!

  38. bobbileigh on October 7, 2011 at 3:19 pm

I live in Dallas and its so hot in the summer that its nice to be able to run outside in the fall without risking heat stroke! ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. Vicky on October 7, 2011 at 3:19 pm

This time of the year i am cross country running, love to be outside in the wind and rain and to get dirty ๐Ÿ™‚ would love to try your macaroons!!! X

  40. Jess G on October 7, 2011 at 3:20 pm

I like to mix it up a lot with outdoor cardio- walk, run, rollerblade, bike, etc.

I’m dying to try your blog famous ‘roons!!!!!!!!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  41. Krystina on October 7, 2011 at 3:20 pm

Biking! I love it (more so AFTER losing 150 lbs) and it’s so enjoyable on a cool, crisp Fall evening.

  42. Jenn on October 7, 2011 at 3:20 pm

I love doing indoor boot-camp workouts in the fall/winter. The indoor temps keep me warm, and the friends that workout with me make the time fly by!!

  43. Megan on October 7, 2011 at 3:20 pm

I love running outside in the winter. I live in Wisconsin, so there’s a whole different degree of bundling up that’s required when running in the frigid cold. But, it adds an element of fun too. Plus, the snow is so pretty!

  44. Britne @ Shabbott's Habits on October 7, 2011 at 3:20 pm

This time of I year I really like hiking. The leaves are gorgeous and the air is crisp and fresh.

  45. Michelle on October 7, 2011 at 3:21 pm

I like to run outside since it’s cooler (and actually bearable) this time of year!

  46. Hallie on October 7, 2011 at 3:21 pm

I don’t like working out outside, so my routine doesn’t change a bit. ๐Ÿ™‚

  47. Andrea on October 7, 2011 at 3:21 pm

Colder weather in the North East means super duper cold!!! No more runs outside. I crack open the Insanity videos and keep the workouts in doors

  48. Heather from NC on October 7, 2011 at 3:21 pm

Sprinting the big hill on my street. It kicks my booty!

  49. Charlene on October 7, 2011 at 3:21 pm

I love to go for a nice run – it feels so good in the brisk air! Also just as much as fun is going for a long walk with my husband around the Public Gardens or along the Charles River or in a new-to-me neighborhood of Boston – it’s nice to be able to catch-up over fresh air and with the good company and a good pace, I don’t feel cold!

  50. Sarah on October 7, 2011 at 3:22 pm

My workouts have changed because like you I am pregnant! It hasn’t been smooth so I’ve had to modify a bit but every night we take our husky for a walk and I have been enjoying yoga.
