Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says โ€œHappy Friday]

Itโ€™s another lovely, cool day over here. Itโ€™s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

Iโ€™m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I canโ€™t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighborโ€™s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldnโ€™t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think theyโ€™re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

roon

Iโ€™ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, Iโ€™ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

  2. Deborah on October 7, 2011 at 3:22 pm

yogax! perfect sweat-sesh that keeps me warm, stretched, and feeling absolutely rejuvenated for the remainder of the day ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Hannah on October 7, 2011 at 3:22 pm

I’m boring, I like just running outdoors now that it’s not so humid in Ohio! Unfortunately, the cool weather doesn’t typically last that long before it’s cold enough that I never want to go outside again.

  4. Alexandra on October 7, 2011 at 3:22 pm

hey gina! i love brisk runs when the fall weather is PERFECT (blue skies, crisp but not cold, colorful leaves falling ๐Ÿ˜‰ especially since fall is the time that i start gearing up for spring race training! but when it gets more frightful outside, hot yoga is definitely my go-to workout. it rejuvenates my skin and helps me pump some fresh blood up in here, as well as giving me some much needed stress relief after being cooped up inside teaching!

  5. Kristan on October 7, 2011 at 3:22 pm

Taking the running/walking excersie outside and then the track indoors:)

  6. ShariM on October 7, 2011 at 3:23 pm

Fall means winter on the way here in North Dakota. So I get off of the outside bike and back into spinning….which is fine with me – love a good sweaty spin class!

  7. neha on October 7, 2011 at 3:23 pm

I try to get back in the gym, instead of having outside workouts. I love my classics like spinning, but I’m also excited to try some new classes, like hot yoga!

  8. Meredith on October 7, 2011 at 3:24 pm

Once the white stuff starts falling, I love snowshoeing across a big field with my husky puppy! He loves it, too!

  9. Tanya on October 7, 2011 at 3:24 pm

I plan to ZUMBA!!! And take other fitness classes at the gym!

  10. sarah on October 7, 2011 at 3:25 pm

my new favorite workout is nursing my newborn twin girls ๐Ÿ˜‰ but aside from that i always look forward to the cooler temperatures for running outdoors. thanks for the giveaway!

  11. K-train on October 7, 2011 at 3:25 pm

Wow. 419 comments already… Well, can’t hurt to try! My favorite cold/winter workouts are probably BodyRocks in my living room or a Zumba class (new obsession). Something about dancing and sweating up a storm when you know it’s freezing outside just feels SO good! Happy Friday to all!

  12. Lisa on October 7, 2011 at 3:25 pm

Definitely long walks in the refreshing fall weather here in Iowa. It just smells and feels so good!!! :o)

  13. Angela on October 7, 2011 at 3:26 pm

It’s hard for me to squeeze my workouts in with two very little ones running around, so I stick with what has been working for awhile now (at least as long as they keep taking long afternoon naps) but also in the fall we make sure we get out most nights for very long family walks after dinner!

  14. Emily L on October 7, 2011 at 3:26 pm

Fall = my fav time of year!
Due to the rain/snow/darker mornings, I have been taking my workouts to the gym’s treadmill to keep on top of my weekly miles. As far as swimming? I swim with a master’s team 3 mornings per week and we practice outside, so I brave the cool temps and go with it!

  15. Maria on October 7, 2011 at 3:26 pm

Fall is still pretty hot here in Texas, but at least it’s down to the 90’s. I like early morning runs outside when it is cool, and hiking in the park nearby.

  16. Kimberly on October 7, 2011 at 3:26 pm

My favorite workout in the fall is running. The weather is crisp and the air seems more fresh since there is no humidity. Plus the view is breath-taking. ๐Ÿ™‚ Now winter is another beast to tackle. Running in the winter in Wisconsin may not be nearly as refreshing as it is in the fall, that’s fo sho! ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Stephanie on October 7, 2011 at 3:26 pm

I love taking my workouts outside with the crisp fall weather. I like to do intervals of running & walking…I’m injured right now but hope to get back outside soon!

  18. Samantha on October 7, 2011 at 3:27 pm

I love running in the fall…especially now, right when the weather is first starting to transition. My body is used to working hard in the summer heat, so long runs in the cooler temps feel so much easier and I usually (**knock on wood**) end up with some fantastic workouts. Yay for this awesome giveaway, and happy Friday!

  19. Danielle C. on October 7, 2011 at 3:27 pm

I love running in every season…Fall is just as good, I live in Seattle and rain just comes with the territory. ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. [New Balance] Nicole on October 7, 2011 at 3:28 pm

My favorite winter workout is yoga because I get all stretched out and then can go curl up on the couch with a blanket and hot chocolate and enjoy winter!!

  21. Katie B. on October 7, 2011 at 3:28 pm

I always think of volleyball in the fall/winter. all that squatting, shuffling and jumping is a pretty nice workout.

  22. mountain girl heidi on October 7, 2011 at 3:28 pm

I continue to love running — it’s great in the fall, because when the heat isn’t blasting, I run with more motivation. The colors, smell, and temperature of the season are so invigorating!

  23. Michaela on October 7, 2011 at 3:30 pm

first of all, I just completed your october workout ๐Ÿ™‚ Could def feel my calves, besides, it wasnยดt too sweaty, at least for me, but it was a nice change from my regular workouts! Thanks!
I love running outside when itยดs cooler, my no. one exercise!

  24. Sam on October 7, 2011 at 3:31 pm

I’m in Colorado, so when the weather gets chilly, I hit the mountains. Snowboarding is THE best leg workout. ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. Emily on October 7, 2011 at 3:31 pm

When the leaves begin to change I love heading out to do some trail running or hiking with my family!

  26. Samantha on October 7, 2011 at 3:32 pm

I love walking outside with my dogs, just seeing all the changes with the trees and enjoying the cool crisp air.

  27. Diane on October 7, 2011 at 3:32 pm

I love hiking in the fall and in winter I usually am back indoors – in which case spin is my favorite!

    Xoxo

  28. Jen Crandall on October 7, 2011 at 3:32 pm

I love to run in cool weather!!

  29. Hanna on October 7, 2011 at 3:33 pm

I love running on the trails and looking at all the beautiful leaves.

  30. chelsea on October 7, 2011 at 3:33 pm

I love running during the fall ๐Ÿ™‚ Waking up at 7am to run to the park for 8 miles sounds amaaazing during this weather. Summer? That sounds like hell haha!

Side note-am I the only person who doesn’t use my ebrake when I park on the driveway? My boy-friend and his family does it too ha!

  31. Marci on October 7, 2011 at 3:34 pm

In the fall i love being able to be outside, although its already pretty cold out where i live!!! I also increase my pilates/yoga time for some reason when its chilly outside!

  32. Hannah on October 7, 2011 at 3:34 pm

I love to go for long bike rides on beautiful fall afternoons.

  33. Irene on October 7, 2011 at 3:35 pm

Oh man, I hope I win! I love Sephora and I would love to try the famous’ roons:) The past two winters my husband and I have registered for a St. Patty’s day race (just 4 miles, so we try to run it FAST) to keep us motivated to work out during the horrible Connecticut winter. I hate how much of the training ends up being on the treadmill, but I LOVE making a training program and working out with my husband. Since he is much faster than me, we don’t normally run together when we’re outside, so it is a special winter benefit for me!

  34. kelli on October 7, 2011 at 3:35 pm

perfect giveaway! love sephora ๐Ÿ™‚ I usually workout indoors anyway so no change but in winter I do not ride my bike!

  35. Sara on October 7, 2011 at 3:36 pm

Favorite fall workout=YOGA! There’s nothing like a great stretchy yoga class at nighttime and taking loooong walks in the beautiful weather.

  36. Joelle (On A Pink Typewriter) on October 7, 2011 at 3:36 pm

My favorite fall workout is Bikram! Love getting into the toasty studio when it’s freezing outside!

  37. Naomi on October 7, 2011 at 3:37 pm

I love taking my dogs out for a good run through the greenbelt in our area! It is so refreshing to be outside and they love it too ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, my husband is a football coach and sometimes while he is at practice I like to run the track and do the bleachers…re-live the glory days of being an “athlete” in high school.

  38. Amber Johnson on October 7, 2011 at 3:37 pm

I live in East Texas so once it cools off some I like to take my work outs outside until it gets too cold. Usually running, biking around town, or long walks with my husband and daughter.

I feel like I have been living under a rock. I hadn’t heard of macaroons until a month or so ago when you posted about them and then I saw them everywhere. I still have yet to ever have one, but I have plans to find some or make my own.

  39. ilovefetacheese on October 7, 2011 at 3:38 pm

yayy rooons!!! My fav fall workout is running outside with the crisp air. All other times of year I mainly weight lift!

  40. sam on October 7, 2011 at 3:38 pm

Oh man oh man i almost peed my pants when i saw this giveaway!! favorite fall workout has got to be hiking with my dog!

  41. Michelle on October 7, 2011 at 3:39 pm

I take my workouts inside. I love doing boot camp classes when it’s cooler because they’re usually held in warehouse type places that are unbearable during the summer.

  42. Olivia May on October 7, 2011 at 3:39 pm

I love to get into the gym and have a good weight training routine ๐Ÿ™‚ but all the talk about hot yoga makes me think i will be changing my mind ๐Ÿ™‚

  43. Laura on October 7, 2011 at 3:39 pm

Hot yoga and runs to warm me up!

  44. Laura on October 7, 2011 at 3:39 pm

Long, long bike rides! In perfect weather ๐Ÿ™‚

  45. Olivia May on October 7, 2011 at 3:39 pm

I love to get into the gym and have a good weight training routine but all the talk about hot yoga makes me think i will be changing my mind

  46. Kristin on October 7, 2011 at 3:39 pm

I’ll admit it, I’m a wimp when it comes to the cold! I will occasionally go for a walk or run in my neighborhood, but come November, it’s back to the gym for me!

  47. Amanda on October 7, 2011 at 3:40 pm

When living in Boston, it was way too cold to run at the times I didn’t have to be at work (running in the dark at 6am in 25*s? no thank you!). So then, my favorite activity was biking to work (4mi each way)– much faster, cheaper, and greener commute, and a great way to sneak in exercise. Other than that, I’d start to get back into yoga/pilates.

Now that I’m down South, I’m actually really looking forward to running outdoors (as soon as day light savings hits, it’ll be 100x better). Also, hiking is great this time of year with all the leaves changing!

  48. Katherine on October 7, 2011 at 3:40 pm

I live in Westchester, NY right on the Long Island sound and it’s so lovely to go for a run by the water and see all of the yachts dotting the horizon. It’s seriously beautiful and so peaceful.

  49. Jessica on October 7, 2011 at 3:41 pm

My favorite cold-weather workout is skiing! However, it’s not exactly budget-friendly. I can always be persuaded for a scorching-hot dance party, however! (ZUMBA!)

  50. Brittany on October 7, 2011 at 3:41 pm

I live in Florida by the beach so when the weather cools down I love to walk the bridge over the river and to the beach. It’s nice because it’s not too cold but it’s not so hot I feel like I might pass out while trying to make it to the beach, haha.
