Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says โ€œHappy Friday]

Itโ€™s another lovely, cool day over here. Itโ€™s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

Iโ€™m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I canโ€™t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighborโ€™s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldnโ€™t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think theyโ€™re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

roon

Iโ€™ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, Iโ€™ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

Running, walking my little dog (who hates the heat), and hiking! Also, I bake lots of pumpkin bread…but I guess that doesn’t have much to do with anything. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Carrie on October 7, 2011 at 3:42 pm

My favorite fall workout is hiking at a local nature preserve! There is just no way I’d make it during the summer…especially the HOT summer TX had this year!

  3. Lindsey on October 7, 2011 at 3:42 pm

My favorite workout in the fall is definitely running outside. Gotta take advantage of the cooler weather before it gets freezing!

  4. olga on October 7, 2011 at 3:43 pm

Fall is best for running outdoors.

  5. Julie F on October 7, 2011 at 3:43 pm

I LOVE running outside in this weather!!

  6. Lauren on October 7, 2011 at 3:43 pm

In the fall, it’s the best time to get out of the house and take a walk. I get hot sooo easy so the cooler weather helps.

  7. Beth on October 7, 2011 at 3:43 pm

I love walking in the fall, we have a valley by my house and its really nice to walk through and look at the changing leaves!

  8. Gina @ Running to the Kitchen on October 7, 2011 at 3:43 pm

Not that it’s much different than the rest of the year, but I LOVE running in the fall. When the weather is 60 and sunny there really isn’t anything better than an outdoor run. <3

  9. Allly on October 7, 2011 at 3:44 pm

Briskly walking in the fall leaves through the park. We have tons of great parks in this area, so I can walk a couple of miles without seeing the same tree twice.

  10. kathleen @ the daily crumb on October 7, 2011 at 3:44 pm

my favorite fall workout is hot yoga. when the temps drop, nothing feels better than a warm yoga studio! a nice change from my cardio-based summer workouts.

  11. SaraA on October 7, 2011 at 3:44 pm

Raking leaves is my favorite fall workout!

  12. Alexandrina @ The Cardio Queen on October 7, 2011 at 3:44 pm

I love taking my runs outside! It’s definitely a change and offers more of a challenge. I can only last so long if it’s super cold; I’m a Tucsonan at heart and can’t really take too much of the chill that Georgia winters come with.

  13. karissa on October 7, 2011 at 3:44 pm

    GREAT QUESTION!

Since I’m a Minnesota girl, when the weather starts to get cold and the snow starts flying I love to spend my time downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and even some old-fashioned sledding (those hills kick your butt walking back up!). Great workouts with awesome sights.

  14. Ashley on October 7, 2011 at 3:45 pm

Cheesey, but I love “snow walks” with my man. They are both great exercise and a cheap and fun date!

  15. Kate on October 7, 2011 at 3:45 pm

In the fall, it’s running outside in the cool air or going for a hike in the mountains where I can take in all the changing leaves. In the winter, I love snowshoeing! It’s so quiet and peaceful and I can usually bring my dog with me and let him run off leash. It’s awesome. ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Jaclyn on October 7, 2011 at 3:45 pm

The best thing about being in the Rockies is the snow – great for snowboarding, skiing and snowshoeing! A super fun way to stay active in the freezing cold!

  17. britt on October 7, 2011 at 3:46 pm

awesome giveaway! i’m looking forward to taking my workout outdoors (and finally getting to use the jogging stroller) and enjoying the fresh air. my little guy gets so bored sitting in his stroller watching me run on the treadmill at our apartment gym so this works out great for both of us.

  18. Carmel on October 7, 2011 at 3:47 pm

Hip Hop yoga and Bodypump are my favorites!

  19. Abby s. on October 7, 2011 at 3:47 pm

I love to run or walk outside in the cool fall air and beautiful change of scenery

  20. stacey on October 7, 2011 at 3:47 pm

I love going outside and walking, running, just being active! It is so refreshing. Granted I live in Florida, so our weather is still dreadfully HOT!

  21. Bella on October 7, 2011 at 3:47 pm

    I’m crazy for ZUMBA!!!
There is no need for a special season…well maybe doing Zumba under a tree with colorful falling leaves!

  22. Krystina (Organically Me) on October 7, 2011 at 3:47 pm

    Bella is so cute. ๐Ÿ™‚

and YOU are so generous! My favorite fall/winter workout will be running outside this year because I’m living in Florida now.

  23. Crystal on October 7, 2011 at 3:48 pm

I really like running in the fall and I used to love Bikram Yoga in the winter when I lived near a studio. Love this giveaway : )

  24. Sara on October 7, 2011 at 3:49 pm

Definitely a great morning run in the brisk cold. I always question my sanity at first, but then I warm up and watch the sun rise to greet the day. Nothing better!

  25. Stephanie on October 7, 2011 at 3:49 pm

My fall workouts are similar to yours Gina! I love running in the crisp fall air on weekend mornings. But I also love me some bikram to heat up and stretch out. Come on roooons!!

  26. Manasi on October 7, 2011 at 3:50 pm

    Hi Gina,
Happy Friday! For fall I love lots of spin classes (because I’m inside away from the cold!) and so I can keep up on what’s new on the music scene. My instructors are really great about keeping their playlists current with what’s going around the city. When the MLK exhibit opened in D.C the playlist included “Get up Stand up”! It was great!

  27. Carrie on October 7, 2011 at 3:50 pm

Running outside without dying in the heat! The fall colors are so fun to look at and make my run a little more enjoyable.

  28. Sarah D on October 7, 2011 at 3:50 pm

I LOVE bike riding outside in the fall- so much pretty scenery and amazing weather! For the winter I stay indoors (Winter weather on the east coast is rough!) and hit the gym for weights and spin class.. (and of course those fitnessista workouts you post)! <3 the blog!!!!

  29. Heather on October 7, 2011 at 3:50 pm

Pick me! Pick me! I am a lover of all things fall. I’ve been taking super long leaf-gazing walks with my pups and loving every minute of it!

  30. Erin W. on October 7, 2011 at 3:50 pm

Now that the summer humidity is gone, I love running outside and hiking. Hiking is actually my favorite, because you get to hike through the woods and enjoy all the beautiful changing leaves. It’s definitely my favorite time of year. Happy Friday, Gina!

  31. Clare @ Fitting It All In on October 7, 2011 at 3:51 pm

My favorite fall workout is a long RUN! It’s finally great running weather again!

  32. Jessica on October 7, 2011 at 3:51 pm

In the fall, I love exercising outside — running, walking, hiking. In the winter I like to cross country ski and snowshoe!

  33. Tina on October 7, 2011 at 3:51 pm

Favorite winter workout is hiking. Snow covered trails are magical. I, however, won’t be getting any snow anytime soon since I’m studying abroad in Grenada, West Indies. Someone make a snowman for me when the time comes!

  34. Leigh-Ann on October 7, 2011 at 3:52 pm

Bike rides and jogging and boot camp OUTSIDE!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  35. kari on October 7, 2011 at 3:52 pm

i love hiking in the fall and taking in all the gorgeous colors.

  36. breakingsilence @ Freshman -15 on October 7, 2011 at 3:52 pm

Since I live in the South, fall/winter means I can take my exercise time outside!! Instead of doing in-home walk DVD’s, I’ll power walk outside at the local track.

  37. Angie on October 7, 2011 at 3:52 pm

I LOVE going back to the gym during fall and winter. It’s usually raining here by that time, so staying dry is always bueno. During the summer, I’m always out running so the change is really nice; ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. anne on October 7, 2011 at 3:53 pm

every January we have a snowshoe race in the upper part of Michigan and do a 5k through the woods, it is gorgeous and such good exercise!

  39. Monica on October 7, 2011 at 3:53 pm

As much as I dislike running, nothing beats an outdoor fall run!

  40. Azka on October 7, 2011 at 3:53 pm

I live in Florida which confines me to the gym and home workouts from April – October. The cooler months are for morning runs, biking everywhere to run errands and brunch dates, and kayaking for date nights!

  41. Anna on October 7, 2011 at 3:54 pm

I love running outside. I live in Jacksonville, Fl and at never really gets too cold to run outside here, but it is too hot for me in the summer. I think my running routine is seriously keeping me sane since I started Grad School in August!

  42. Heather on October 7, 2011 at 3:54 pm

They say spring inspires new beginnings, but I’m all about the back-to-school, new clothes, new life fall! Instead of new school clothes, I’ve been indulging in new workout clothes. Instead of starting school, I’ve celebrated by trying new fitness classes at my gym.

  43. Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance on October 7, 2011 at 3:56 pm

My favorite fall workout is running in the cool weather, of course. Nothing beats it ๐Ÿ™‚

  44. Kelsey on October 7, 2011 at 3:56 pm

I love dressing up and going for a brisk run. It’s the perfect temperature!! Lots of ashtanga yoga too!! Love warming up in yoga!!

  45. Allie J on October 7, 2011 at 3:56 pm

We have an arboretum in Madison that is GLORIOUS in the fall! My roommates and I love exploring the trails and taking pics of the bazillions of trees changing color. We’re having a bizarro October so far & Wisco is pretty darn warm still which means more hiking time! ๐Ÿ™‚

  46. Hannah on October 7, 2011 at 3:56 pm

Favorite fall workout is probably biking ๐Ÿ™‚ Perfect weather for it!

  47. laura on October 7, 2011 at 3:56 pm

I love hiking in the mountains before the snow comes! When it gets super cold I stick more to the gym and (before pregnancy and after) I like to use the sauna at the end of my workout to “cool down.”

  48. Tiffany on October 7, 2011 at 3:56 pm

I work at a high school so when it’s nice outside I like to walk/run the track and run up and down the bleachers. It’s a killer workout! Actually, I get off work in 2 hours so that’s what my workout today is going to be!

  49. Gary Eldridge on October 7, 2011 at 3:57 pm

Well if the weather is like it is now, I go for a brisk walk outside. It’s rather hilly around my house so it’s quite the workout. If it is too cold or nasty to go outside, I hit the treadmill in the basement and go to work.

  50. Melissa on October 7, 2011 at 3:57 pm

I take advantage of the beautiful fall weather by running on my campus’ lakeshore path. I get a beautiful view of the lake AND the autumn leaf changes ๐Ÿ™‚
