Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says “Happy Friday]

It’s another lovely, cool day over here. It’s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

I’m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I can’t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighbor’s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldn’t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think they’re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

I’ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, I’ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

I love doing Bikram or hot Vinyasa in the winter!

  2. Robin on October 7, 2011 at 3:58 pm

I love doing any workout that will get me sweaty to warm up during the cooler months. However, I can’t workout outside during fall/winter. Any temps below 60 degrees make my ears hurt!

  3. Lisa @ Fit in the Midwest on October 7, 2011 at 3:58 pm

I definitely like taking more outdoor walks with my husband at night to look at the fall leaves and Halloween decorations. Living in the Midwest, I feel like I have to take advantage of the gorgeous weather before the cold, snowy winter sets in.

  4. Marie on October 7, 2011 at 3:58 pm

I love just taking a walk with the husband and kiddos. I generally work out in the am before the kids are awake so it’s always indoors. 😉 Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  5. Sandy on October 7, 2011 at 3:58 pm

I love running outside in the fall, especially because I bought a lululemon headband/ear-muff thing, it makes running in the cold so much nicer. 🙂

  6. EGrizz on October 7, 2011 at 3:59 pm

I goto the local YMCA they have an awesome track to run, and it doesn’t matter what temp. it is outside! Awesome giveaway!

  7. jennyv on October 7, 2011 at 3:59 pm

Marathon training is the way I’ve spent my fall workouts! (However, FL isn’t really giving me the fall-like temps I grew up with in the Midwest!)

  8. Jenny on October 7, 2011 at 4:00 pm

lots of treadmill running and weight training. this year, though, I’m going to try cross country skiing. I’m trying to adapt to living in a place that gets about a 170 inches of snow : o

  9. Dani on October 7, 2011 at 4:00 pm

In the fall I love running outside, it is the perfect temperature and the changing leaves make it even more enjoyable!

  10. Cellabella on October 7, 2011 at 4:01 pm

I’ve always been wanting to try your macaroons! They look like little scoops of crumby deliciousness 🙂 My favorite Fall workout is also running outside in the cooler weather and the changing colors. And then taking magic hour walks with my husband and dog too.

  11. Lindsay on October 7, 2011 at 4:01 pm

  12. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on October 7, 2011 at 4:01 pm

  13. Melissa on October 7, 2011 at 4:02 pm

I also love hot yoga in the winter! Rollerblading and walking outside in the crisp air is fun too 🙂

  14. Gia on October 7, 2011 at 4:03 pm

Snow running!!! I love putting on some heavy traction shoes and frolicking around in the snow. Even better … warming up with some hot apple cider when I get home.

  15. Anita on October 7, 2011 at 4:03 pm

Wow! Thank you for the give away opportunity!

  16. Liz @ Southern Charm on October 7, 2011 at 4:04 pm

You have the best giveaways 🙂

My favorite fall/winter workouts are running outside and yoga in the park … especially free yoga classes put on my our local lululemon.

  17. Lindsay on October 7, 2011 at 4:04 pm

Fav fall workout ISA brisk walk outside, doesn’t even feel like a workout! 🙂

  18. Alycia on October 7, 2011 at 4:05 pm

What an awesome giveaway! I actually liveee for those perfect fall day runs. So lovely (:

  19. Haley Hawthorne on October 7, 2011 at 4:05 pm

My favorite winter workout is definitely ice skating! Who doesn’t like getting bundled up and enjoying the fresh air?…and laughing hysterically when a friend falls down?!

  20. Morgan on October 7, 2011 at 4:05 pm

Running outside is my favorite fall workout, i looooove the feeling outside once the humidity drops!

  21. Heather on October 7, 2011 at 4:05 pm

hm… I’d have to say my favorite fall workout is a warm-up run, followed by TRX in the park, finished with another longer run. The thing I love most about TRX is that you can do it inside OR outside and it forces you to work your core while doing all of the exercises you could be doing with dumbbells. They are light, mobile and practical. In the fall, when the weather is perfect and all I want to do is enjoy the crisp air and take in the beautiful fall leaves, TRX is an awesome option. Best of all, the more people who join in, the better the workout!!

Thanks for your great blog girl – you’re beautiful and make being pregnant look great! As a former Sailor myself, I understand how much time you sacrifice with your pilot for his work and your posts are so inspirational and wonderful. I especially love your recipes! Thank you, thank you!

  22. Nicole P on October 7, 2011 at 4:05 pm

i love going for a hike when it is cool outside…being bundled up and not sweating is perfect!

  23. Erica Scott on October 7, 2011 at 4:06 pm

Favorite Fall workout has to be playing in my adult league field hockey and soccer games. I get to work up a sweat and I get a little healthy competition 🙂

  24. Leslie on October 7, 2011 at 4:06 pm

I like going for a family bike ride on the weekends. Great way to exercise and spend time together!

  25. Laura on October 7, 2011 at 4:06 pm

Love doing any type of exercise outside during the Fall, but power walking and biking over the crunchy, fallen leaves rank up on top. Losing the extra summer sweat is beyond refreshing!

  26. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on October 7, 2011 at 4:06 pm

    You are so generous, Gina!

My fave fall workout is going for a long run wearing fall workout clothes and savoring the crisp air!

  27. Heather C on October 7, 2011 at 4:07 pm

OH YUM! Fave fall activity: walking in the crisp air 🙂

  28. Jill on October 7, 2011 at 4:07 pm

I love taking brisk fall walks. I live in Winnipeg and our fall season VERY quickly turns to frigid winter season where you can’t be outside without any exposed skin freezing in minutes. Although yesterday Winnipeg was hotter than California, Hawaii, and Cuba! I’ll rejoice in the hot weather while it’s hear but looking forward to a crisp fall air and taking a long walk.

  29. Jess on October 7, 2011 at 4:07 pm

I love to go for long walks through the fallen leaves! I love the smell of fall air!

  30. Stacey N. on October 7, 2011 at 4:08 pm

I’ve loved being able to run outside during this cool weather! It’s getting me excited for the annual Thanksgiving 5k my brother and I run 🙂

  31. Gabby on October 7, 2011 at 4:08 pm

    Outdoor runs!

  32. Jeanne on October 7, 2011 at 4:09 pm

My favorite fall workout is long walks outside! Awesome giveaway, thank you!

  33. Lindsay on October 7, 2011 at 4:09 pm

Loving the cooler weather and walking/hiking outdoors.

  34. Emily Garai on October 7, 2011 at 4:09 pm

My favorite winter workout is indoor rock climbing! I only really go in the winter when it’s too cold to go outside. Also, cross country skiing is pretty sweet. Especially with headlamps in the pre-dawn hours =)

  35. Amy@healthyhungryhappy.com on October 7, 2011 at 4:09 pm

outdoor runs are definitely where its at…but i also lot HIIT workouts…the weather is perfect so getting hot and sweaty isnt too killer like summer can be. the ‘roons look amazing!

  36. Carrie on October 7, 2011 at 4:10 pm

my favorite winter workout is definitely running on a beautiful running trail! there’s just some kinda wonderful when the air is crisp!

  37. Leila on October 7, 2011 at 4:10 pm

Definitely outdoor runs.. especially since we had record highs here in Oklahoma all summer and running came to an extreme halt. That and spin class. I take it year round but for some reason I like it better when its freezing out. Probably cuz I sweat my booty off in that class. 🙂

  38. becca on October 7, 2011 at 4:10 pm

I’m a lot like you Gina. Hot yoga and outdoor runs! I love running when its cold, I think I’m weird like that.

  39. Alyssa @ Don't Look Down on October 7, 2011 at 4:11 pm

My fav workout in the winter is spinning. I try to spend lots of time outdoors in the summer and even in the fall but once it’s cold I move my butt inside!

  40. Lauren on October 7, 2011 at 4:11 pm

When it cools down in Southern California it’s perfect hiking weather! I’ll leash up the pup and head out to conquer new trails and take in the sights.

  41. Erin on October 7, 2011 at 4:11 pm

Love this giveaway! I would love to try your macaroons!! I started doing hot yoga over the summer and always left feeling unsatisfied like I could not get away from the heat, but now that cooler temps are sinking in I really look forward to getting on that hot room in the morning. I love it!

  42. Carrie on October 7, 2011 at 4:12 pm

Love to head to our “Bicentennial Mall” state park behind the capitol. The views are great and there are big open spaces to run drills! The farmer’s market is there as well, so it’s a wonderful trip!

  43. Liz on October 7, 2011 at 4:13 pm

Fall means I can run outside again! I like to run parts of the Minuteman Bike Trail outside of Boston. 🙂

  44. ashley on October 7, 2011 at 4:13 pm

    yoga always and forever!

  45. Emily N on October 7, 2011 at 4:13 pm

Fall weather means running down tree-lined streets, thinking abuot the crunchy apples that await me at the end of my run. I live in the south, so running outside in the summer is pretty impossible. I love adding more running sessions to my workouts to take advantage of the cooler weather.

  46. Emily on October 7, 2011 at 4:14 pm

Def. running! In the summer I can’t get my body to cool down, but in the winter I can bundle up and heat up quickly– I love it!

  47. Wendy on October 7, 2011 at 4:14 pm

I walk more in the fall because of the nice temperature!

  48. Lena on October 7, 2011 at 4:14 pm

I guess it’s not COMPLETELY a workout, but I LOVE to mix it up in the winter by taking advantage of these Colorado mountains and go snowboarding!

  49. kate on October 7, 2011 at 4:14 pm

I head to the great outdoors.

  50. Jen on October 7, 2011 at 4:15 pm

My workouts don’t really change with the seasons – I just make sure to kick my booty year round 😉
