Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says “Happy Friday]

It’s another lovely, cool day over here. It’s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

I’m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I can’t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighbor’s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldn’t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think they’re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

roon

I’ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, I’ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

For me it’s normally warm outfits for outdoor workouts, would rather sweat from a hard workout than sweat just from being in the heat!

This year, since I’m about the same level of preggo as you, it will be brisk walks until it’s too cool/dangerous with the snow/ice, and pre-natal yoga!

Just an ordinary Insanity Max Interval workout video. 🙂

  3. Breyanna on October 7, 2011 at 4:16 pm

I love being able to work-out outside during the fall (before the rainy season starts here). After that it’s gym workouts here but love going for the occasional walk/run in the rain!

  4. Megan S. on October 7, 2011 at 4:16 pm

I love doing more spinning and circuit classes and less running when it’s cold out. During fall I love taking a late afternoon run before dinner, or an afternoon run on the weekends…especially when the sun is shining and I can step on crunchy leaves!

  5. Kelly on October 7, 2011 at 4:16 pm

I like to run races! SO much easier in the cool weather 😎

  6. Christine on October 7, 2011 at 4:18 pm

In the fall I like to take advantage of the cooler temps and get outside for some nice long runs.

  7. Lana on October 7, 2011 at 4:18 pm

My favourite Fall workout would have to be outdoor running – it’s not too hot and not too cold. As for winter, I love downhill skiing!

  8. Stacey on October 7, 2011 at 4:19 pm

I always change my mind by the end of the winter, but for now I’m excited to run intervals on the treadmill. I also like making my own mini interval circuit with the treadmill, stair master and elliptical.

  9. Jessica on October 7, 2011 at 4:19 pm

I’m in Arizona too, so I’m with ya…this weather is AWESOME. I’m loving being able to do Bodyrock workouts outside!

  10. Sue on October 7, 2011 at 4:19 pm

I can’t stand running when it’s warm, so I always love running outside in the fall! I also have some great races coming up this fall and winter, so I’m excited for those!

  11. Stephanie Koochack on October 7, 2011 at 4:19 pm

I like to go outside! In Texas it’s blazing most of the year so when we get some cooler temps. We do fun active outside things more. Or I may take my laptop outside and Turbofire it in the back yard/patio!

  12. deva at deva by definition on October 7, 2011 at 4:20 pm

I love to go running outside in the fall. Love it. I’m hoping to run a half marathon next May, so I’m planning to run outside this winter, too! Eek!

  13. Emily on October 7, 2011 at 4:20 pm

I’ve been reading your blog now for about a month and l-o-v-e it!

I just moved from the Midwest to South Florida so this is my first fall without the crisp temps and beautiful trees! I’m used to running more during the fall, pounding all the pavement I can before the first snow, and then turbo-kicking my way through the freeze. Right now I am trying to get used to the fact that I can (and definitely will!) run outside year round, and need to find a good balance with yoga so that I don’t get burnt out on the miles.

  14. Dakota Campbell on October 7, 2011 at 4:22 pm

I love taking long walks outside in the fall! Just watching all the trees change colors and the cool brisk air is amazing!

  15. Charlotte on October 7, 2011 at 4:23 pm

what a generous givewaway! do snowball fights count as a workout? alternatively, evening runs are pretty nice during the fall.

  16. Christine on October 7, 2011 at 4:24 pm

I like to hike on the trails by my house now that temps are cooler!

  17. Kate on October 7, 2011 at 4:24 pm

Walking around my school’s indoor track- I can read things on my ipod touch with the free internet!

  18. Katie L. on October 7, 2011 at 4:25 pm

i would love to try some roons! the lemon-lavendar sounds so yummy! my favorite workout is walking through the nearby park with my husband (a marine) and our malte-tzu, GeGe. watching the leaves change is so incredibly beautiful!

  19. Maya on October 7, 2011 at 4:26 pm

Favorite Fall and Winter workouts definitely include hot yoga: nothing beats the cold weather blahs quite like sweatin’ up a nice and stretchy storm! Also, I love hitting up the local pool in the colder months. I’m not sure why, maybe it’s the hope of a nicely heated pool and maybe the promise of a post-workout sauna session?

  20. Amanda Noelle on October 7, 2011 at 4:26 pm

I still stick to primarily a gym routine, but when the weather cools down (which takes awhile in FL!) I’ll add in some supplemental things to take advantage of the weather– my favorite is long walks with dear friends.

  22. Mindy on October 7, 2011 at 4:27 pm

I am so lucky in that my gym is only about half a mile away from my house, so I love walking to the gym in the cool fall/winter air to get my blood going… then once I’m done with my workout and hot and nasty sweaty, I love walking home again and cooling down, the air feels sooo amazing then!!

For now… as I am finishing up month 2 of Insanity the gym is on hold… I love taking my dog for long walks when it’s nice and cool beacuse she hates the hot weather and she’ll actually go more then a few blocks without laying down and refusing to move LOL

  23. Tammy on October 7, 2011 at 4:27 pm

It’s pretty chilly here already – I have to pick something indoors. We do a cardio tennis class that’s a great indoor workout.

  24. Colleen on October 7, 2011 at 4:28 pm

I love hot yoga in the winter!

  25. Melissa on October 7, 2011 at 4:30 pm

Im loving this fall weather! No more feeling like you’re running in a hot yoga room. So when fall hits, I usually change up my routine by hitting the mall 🙂 I like try and get a new fleece and long running pants for those late-night chilly runs. I just did my first ever hot yoga class 2 weeks ago and I’m in love! I’m looking forward to some hot yoga during the winter followed by a cup of hot chocolate…

  26. Sarah on October 7, 2011 at 4:31 pm

Sadly because of my work schedule my work outs won’t be changing but if I could I would love to be outdoors more! The weather is being pretty nice to us down in Florida 🙂

  27. april on October 7, 2011 at 4:31 pm

Love fall running with the leaves changing…although now I live in FL so there are no leaves changing…but a great breeze!!!

  28. Kate on October 7, 2011 at 4:31 pm

I take advantage of being able to run right after I get off work, instead of having to wait out the heat.

  29. Amanda on October 7, 2011 at 4:31 pm

Hi Gina! I’d love to try a macaroon – never had one before! 🙂 My favorite Fall and Winter workouts would definitely be a little running outside in the Fall and on the treadmill in the Winter. I also like to add in hot yoga, hiking, and sleigh riding!! (It’s a workout running back up a hill after sleighing down :). )

  30. Holly on October 7, 2011 at 4:32 pm

When Mother Nature decides to bring the Chicago winter fury…I head inside for cardio dance classes!

  31. Beth (Well I'll Be) on October 7, 2011 at 4:32 pm

I definitely love running more outside once the weather cools down. It’s nice to be able to go whenever and not have to go in the early am or late pm until it’s cooled down enough. Once it gets too cold to run outside, I up my group exercise classes inside the gym 🙂

  32. Lanie on October 7, 2011 at 4:33 pm

I love to hike in the fall! The cool temps and pretty leaves make it so awesome!

  33. Daniella on October 7, 2011 at 4:34 pm

    I love to do zumba.

  34. Janelle on October 7, 2011 at 4:35 pm

Running! Long distances through the fall leaves=gorgeous!

  35. Aimee M on October 7, 2011 at 4:35 pm

I live in New England, so I’ve been exercising outside all summer! In the fall and winter, I get into the gym with a trainer to stay fit through our cold months.

  36. Shelly on October 7, 2011 at 4:36 pm

BEST giveaway EVER!! crossfit will always be my favorite – no matter what seaon!! xox

  37. Steph @ Pennies on Sidewalk on October 7, 2011 at 4:36 pm

Living in the midwest, I’m actually more prone to taking my workouts inside! Unlike summer, when I feel guilty working out inside because every moment inside is a waste of precious beautiful weather, in the fall and winter my rationale is “Welp, I’m going to be hanging out inside anyway, might as well pump iron!” I’ve been alternating cardio machine work with my favorite workout video, Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred!

  38. Christina on October 7, 2011 at 4:36 pm

I tend to run a lot in the winter, but then I always FREEZE. This winter I think I’m going to do lots of workout videos in the house.

  39. Kim on October 7, 2011 at 4:38 pm

I’m very lucky to live in Hawaii so my workouts basically stay the same. I’ll usually do outdoor cardio but if there is rainy weather I’ll hit up the treadmill and elliptical at the gym 🙂

  40. vanessa hulgan on October 7, 2011 at 4:39 pm

My favorite workout of fall is definitely yoga, with all the stresses and busyness of the holidays yoga gives me a chance to relax and have “me” time. As soon as September starts the months become a blur, from birthdays, anniversary, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, I won’t get a break till the new year so yoga is my go to workout. Along with yoga I like to pair it up with some cardio either outside enjoying the changing colors of the leaves or inside doing HIIT.

Thanks for the giveaway 🙂 your such a sweetie xoxoxo

  41. Morgan @ Some Kind of Sunshine on October 7, 2011 at 4:39 pm

I love to run outside when it cool and glorious in the mornings!!

  42. sarah on October 7, 2011 at 4:40 pm

My favorite fall workout is running along the bay at sunset. Perfect weather and perfect view!

  43. Elizabeth on October 7, 2011 at 4:40 pm

I love to go hiking when the leaves are turning! You get to take in the gorgeous colors and get in a good workout! Thanks for the giveaway!

  44. Sarah on October 7, 2011 at 4:40 pm

I like to take advantage of my slow cooker!

  45. Megan on October 7, 2011 at 4:42 pm

This time of year I love to take long walks/Jogs with my 3 year old in a good jogging stroller, and I go to Zumba 2x a week. It’s so beautiful! We also tend to hike more in the cooler weather. As it gets even colder Zumba will continue and Denise Austin might just take jogging’s place 🙂 What? I love her…I can’t help it 😀

  46. Lindsey on October 7, 2011 at 4:45 pm

    Definitely Hot Yoga!

  47. Christy on October 7, 2011 at 4:46 pm

you are so generous with your giveaways! my favorite fall workout is taking long walks after work to decompress. And then I hit it hard later with weights, thanks again!

  48. Lisa D on October 7, 2011 at 4:46 pm

I love to bundle up, complete with a head warmer and gloves, and head out to Central Park on Sundays for a long 6 mile run. When it gets REALLY cold, or is too snowy/icy to go, I head to the gym for my boxing class on Saturdays or an old fashioned run on the treadmill. It is sometimes tough to motivate myself to get up on those blisteringly cold mornings but I just think of how wonderful I’ll feel after and it gets me up and out of bed.

  49. Tyler on October 7, 2011 at 4:47 pm

I lurve me some kickboxing. I get super sweaty and there is truly nothing like copious amounts of sweat freezing to your face after.

  50. Sarah on October 7, 2011 at 4:47 pm

My favorite winter workout is actually to run when it’s snowing! It’s so quiet and peaceful and I like to hear the snow crunch underneath my feet. Just as long as it’s not slushy snow…tried that one time and it made for an awful run! Sure would like to try some of those famous blond roons!
