Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says “Happy Friday]

It’s another lovely, cool day over here. It’s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

I’m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I can’t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighbor’s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldn’t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think they’re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

roon

I’ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, I’ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

I am looking forward to hiking through the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia this weekend! I love to do any outdoor exercise before the weather freezes everything up.

  2. Stacy R. on October 7, 2011 at 1:45 pm

My favorite thing like you is taking my workouts outside. My husband and I love to explore new hiking trails or going for nightly runs. We have about a 2 month window and then it gets too cold and we have to take it inside again.

    HAPPY FRIDAY!

  3. Nacole on October 7, 2011 at 1:45 pm

Hi Gina! Love your blog – this is my first comment. I’m so excited for Fall because cool weather is the best running weather! Last year I trained for my first half marathon starting now and getting out there for a run on cool Fall nights is always something I look forward to.

  4. Amy on October 7, 2011 at 1:45 pm

I love being outside hiking with the pup and hubby to appreciate the changing colors of the leaves. Though it might not always get my heart pumping and the sweat on, it is sometimes a workout to clear my mind and appreciate the world around me.

Fingers crossed for some yummy macaroons 🙂

  5. Jessica on October 7, 2011 at 1:45 pm

I love running around the lakes this time of year, cool air, fall colors = perfect! However, I am happy that my unairconditioned home gym is much more tolerable ~ now I have to work a little harder for the heat!

    Happy Friday, “Bella Ball”. 🙂

  6. Marissa on October 7, 2011 at 1:46 pm

Since I live in AZ and it is starting to cool down (finally) I am looking forward to being outside more!

  7. Noelle on October 7, 2011 at 1:46 pm

Love hot yoga during the colder months as well as ellipticalling to warm up!

  8. Misty on October 7, 2011 at 1:46 pm

I love running outside during the cooler months. The treadmill I have to use in the summer is dreadfull!

  9. Shelby on October 7, 2011 at 1:46 pm

I love running or going for a walk in the crisp fall air!

  10. Kristin on October 7, 2011 at 1:46 pm

My fall workouts have been seriously lacking, but I really want to try Zumba!

  11. Mami2jcn on October 7, 2011 at 1:46 pm

Hiking in the fall is my absolute favorite. It doesn’t even feel like exercise!

  12. Sara Mattson on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

Never had macaroons before…….I actually start going outside once it freezes. I have such bad allergies I have to stay inside all spring, summer and fall!

  13. KellyK on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

I adore fall. I am getting my new running shoes tonight, so I plan on adding some lovely fall runs to end my day. Fall just smells good, you know?

  14. Gina on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

I recently just broke out my roller-blades again, it’s so relaxing to just glide along the bike path on a sunny afternoon in October 🙂

  15. Jaymee on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

Since I live in Hawaii there isn’t really a change in seasons but it does get slightly cooler in fall/winter so I love running in the cooler temps!

  16. Christine on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

Fall is without a doubt the best running season! I’m in New England and the cooler (or cold!) air makes it fantastic outdoor running weather.

  17. Julie on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

Hey Gina! My absolute favorite fall activity is taking my dog, Lulu, for long walks. She loves it, and it’s such a fun way to get a little extra activity in for me. I still keep up with my crazy teaching and class-taking schedule, but the beautiful outside weather makes it even more enjoyable to spend time with my pup 🙂

  18. Jennifer Gustafson on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

Runs or walks on cool, crisp, sunny days in the fall, and packing a few group X classes back to back when it gets really cold…might as well put off going back outside by getting in a good workout!

  19. Michelle on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

the Northeast transitions from warm to cool to freezing cold very fast, but when we do have those perfect fall days I love to run or walk outside, but onces hits those low temps you will see me running from my car to the warm gym.

  20. Ashleyr on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

Biking the trail in my city. It goes 35 miles up along side a river! Especially during my town’s Thanksgiving bike ride.

  21. Marina on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

What an awesome giveaway-and I thought I had the best idea for a sweet friday when I was eating apple crisp directly out of the pan earlier 🙂

My favorite workout lately is hot yoga….gotta love the feeling of walking out of a super sweaty class into the crisp fall air! But I used to horseback ride for my university and I have reeeeally been missing long rides outside. Fall was always the best time to be at the barn.

  22. Kristen on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

I live in cold weather so I enjoy the outdoors until it ices over. Workouts just end up inside a lot more. I just started turbofire so I’m sure that will keep me busy indoors!

  23. Tina on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

I usually amp up my running mileage to take advantage of the cooler weather and road bike less. In the summer, I road bike more since it’s more of a warm weather thing for me. In the winter, I get on the trainer inside with my bike and lift more weights inside.

  24. Megan on October 7, 2011 at 1:47 pm

I have never had a macaroon! One of these days I’ll have to try one..

Fall is perfect for hiking/running/taking the dog on longer walks.

  25. Sarah Jayne on October 7, 2011 at 1:48 pm

Yes yes yes roons!! To perfectly complement my fave fall workout 😉 Right now, I am hooked on crossfit, but weekends are for hikes with my pups, bike rides, and strolls through the hay fields with my husband 🙂

  26. Samantha @ Samantha in Training on October 7, 2011 at 1:48 pm

I love to hike during the fall – the foliage is gorgeous and the weather is dry and crisp. When it gets too cold and icy I like to workout indoors on the treadmill and do hot yoga when I can!

  27. Jessica @ Dairy Free Betty on October 7, 2011 at 1:48 pm

Sephora and Macaroons, count me in!!

It rains here A LOT in the Fall – so everything moves indoors. Have you hear of BTS – Group Power and Group Active? The gym that I work at offers them, and I am really enjoying doing both these workouts right now! Soon we will have Group Synergy and Group Kick – so I’m excited about having those too!

As for the flavor – I’ve never had one before – so I don’t even know! Probably chocolate though!

  28. Melissa Lillie on October 7, 2011 at 1:48 pm

wow! Very cool! I love doing more pilates classes and bodyrock indoors but I also love a fun run in the snow!

  29. Elise on October 7, 2011 at 1:48 pm

I love being able to add mid-day outdoor workouts to my schedule. Its finally cool enough where a run at lunch time to clear the mind won’t leave me feeling like I just sat in a sauna.

  30. Emily on October 7, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I love running in the cooler temperatures. I actually feel fast!

  31. Erin on October 7, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I’m loving hitting up different gym classes before on weekdays, while enjoying running/biking outside on the weekends. I just love this time of year in Boston!

  32. Sara on October 7, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I love to do Turbofire at my house. It is great to get fired up when it is cold outside.

  33. Ali on October 7, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I LOVE your giveaways. So sweet! I cycle or run outside. The weather is usually so humid and hot in Miami. Come late October, early November, the temperature cools down, and I can enjoy my outdoor workouts without looking like I jumped in a pool, and then jumped in again. I’m running my first marathon in January so lots of outdoor runs are in my future!

  34. Helen on October 7, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I would have loved to be training for a half marathon this fall but unfortunately I broke my toe last month and I’ve been out of commission. So after a month long hiatus from exercise, I’m back to working out. Yesterday was my first day and even 20 minutes was hard. Hopefully I’ll be doing more circuit training and core workouts soon

  35. Erica on October 7, 2011 at 1:49 pm

fall is the perfect time to go on a nice, not-so-scorching-hot hike!

  36. Samantha on October 7, 2011 at 1:49 pm

For me, it’s sledding, snow shoveling (hey, it’s a GOOD workout!) But then again I live in SW Virginia so I see snow A LOT. Also, just bundling up and taking the pups out on a long walk is always a good one! At least I’m not sweating buckets by the end of it 🙂

  37. Kate on October 7, 2011 at 1:49 pm

i loveeee love love spin. when it gets to fall and winter i always miss the sweaty workouts from summer so spin is perfect! (i’m in college so roons would be a perfect treat away from home ;)!! )

  38. Laura @ prettylittlewords on October 7, 2011 at 1:49 pm

Eeee!!! I am signed up for my first cool weather 5k, so even though I haven’t actually done one yet, I’m gonna have to say that’s gotta be my favorite! 🙂

  39. Heather on October 7, 2011 at 1:50 pm

    You are so lovely, Gina!

My favorite fall workout (and really every other season workout) would have to be Mind.Body.Barre. There is NOTHING like it. (http://www.mindbodybarre.com/) 🙂

  40. suzie on October 7, 2011 at 1:50 pm

love to walk outside and take in the sights, sounds, and smells of the changing seasons! good for the mind, body, and spirit!!!

  41. Erica June on October 7, 2011 at 1:50 pm

My favorite fall/winter workout is speedwork outside on Kelly Drive and at the Philly Art Museum steps. I teach a bootcamp on the back steps, too. The fall weather is gorgeous and everyone is out enjoying Boathouse Row. Plenty of adorable pups to see, as well!!!!! Happy Friday Gina!

  42. Tracey on October 7, 2011 at 1:50 pm

There’s nothing like going for a run in cooler temperatures…even with a hat on and a light drizzle. I soak it all up before it gets too cold in Ohio and I’m confined to the treadmill. Now gimme some ‘roons! 😀

  43. sarah on October 7, 2011 at 1:50 pm

In fall I usually go from my indoor summer workouts and just take the pups to the park everyday. Its nice to not be so focused on getting the bikini body and just enjoy nature. Usually it gets really cold just in time to move back into the gym workouts to prep and de-stress for the holidays!

  44. Stacey on October 7, 2011 at 1:50 pm

My favorite fall workout is running outside in any local park or bike riding with my husband. For winter though I love stretchy workouts because my muscles feel so tense. I love to do vinyasa flow yoga and bar method in the winter!

  45. Robin on October 7, 2011 at 1:51 pm

My favorite fall workout is running! (Some things don’t change, even year round…)

  46. Keri @ Mrs.RAWnk on October 7, 2011 at 1:51 pm

I have been loving spin class lately! I love long walks in the crisp fall air too! However the Washington rain season has already started to slow down the amount walks 🙁

  47. Marilyn on October 7, 2011 at 1:51 pm

I love taking brisk walks outside. It’s so refreshing to have a cool workout!

  48. Colleen on October 7, 2011 at 1:51 pm

There is “fitness playground” equipment on the running trail near my house; parallel bars, a vault bar, step ups, benches, etc. To run there, use all the equipment, and run home takes 45 min-1hour depending on how many sets I do. I LOVE it when it’s finally cool enough to do it! In the dead cold of winter, I rely on my stash of workout DVD’s for indoor workouts.

  49. Jessica on October 7, 2011 at 1:51 pm

I love going for walks on the trail and looking at the changing leaves and smelling that “fall” smell. Walking allows me to do this better than running. Although I am starting a round of Insanity Sunday (eek!) so I probably wont be doing much walking, more like hobbling with my sore muscles.

  50. Rachel @ Eat, Learn, Discover! on October 7, 2011 at 1:51 pm

Unfortunately, it gets too cold too fast where I am, so workouts are taken inside when the weather gets cooler. My favorite is pilates – such an intense burn, and nothing makes me sweat quite like it. When it is not too terribly cold out, I love going for really long walks, just wandering about and enjoying the fresh air 🙂
