Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says “Happy Friday]

It’s another lovely, cool day over here. It’s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

I’m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I can’t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighbor’s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldn’t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think they’re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

roon

I’ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, I’ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

This will be a unique and new fall for me. Normally I endure Virginia falls, which means mostly cool temps, but sometimes COLD or even HOT days. In Virginia fall, I love running outside and HIKING. This fall, however, I am in Florida, which means warm temps. I’ll continue the outdoor running and maybe do some trail cycling 🙂
Thanks for the giveaway – you’re so fun!

  2. Dana Marie on October 7, 2011 at 1:52 pm

walking in the park, or dance class

  3. Maryz on October 7, 2011 at 1:52 pm

Love to be able to run outside when its not so hot! I also like to just go for walks and see the beautiful colors!

  4. Mindy @ just a one girl revolution. on October 7, 2011 at 1:52 pm

Hot yoga is definitely my favorite in cooler weather! It gets COLD here in Michigan!

  5. Beth on October 7, 2011 at 1:52 pm

I love running in the fall! Okay, so I love running all year long, but I especially love running on my favorite trail when it is covered with brightly colored leave. During the winter, though, I do develop a strong appreciation for strength training indoors. 🙂

  6. Molly on October 7, 2011 at 1:52 pm

I love a fall run in Michigan if the weather cooperates. As for the cold days, I’ve started to enjoy realryder spin classes.

  7. G on October 7, 2011 at 1:52 pm

My favourite fall workout is running! I love this time of the year because I can run anytime of the day!
As for winter, we get lots and lots of snow where I am in Canada, so when the roads/sidewalks aren’t plowed, I take my workouts indoors by doing lots of Body Attack classes!

  8. Krista on October 7, 2011 at 1:52 pm

I love hiking and going for runs through the little island near my apartment. The colors in Autumn are gorgeous! Happy Friday!

  9. Jacquelyn on October 7, 2011 at 1:52 pm

I just moved on Saturday so my new favorite fall workout is a long walk everyday to explore my new surroundings. I’m surrounded by mountains here so I also plan on hiking before it snows. Once it snows I hate going out so my workouts tend to be home workouts and lots of yoga.

  10. Beth on October 7, 2011 at 1:53 pm

I live San Diego where “cold” is a joke, so I stick to running outside all year long!!!

  11. Alicia on October 7, 2011 at 1:53 pm

Weekly walks in the fall with my cousin are my favorite. We walk through the suburb of Cleveland we live in and admire the beautiful old homes, mixed with the leaves on the huge trees. So fun and something I look forward to each week!

  12. Erin @ The Grass Skirt on October 7, 2011 at 1:53 pm

Those macaroons look SO good! My favorite fall workout is just power walking outside. I love the fall weather and enjoy being outside in it as much as possible. In the winter, I tend to workout with DVDs at home because I am a wuss and don’t like stepping out into the cold.

  13. Suzi @ Confessions of a Fitness Instructor on October 7, 2011 at 1:53 pm

You’re so generous Gina! My favorite thing is about workouts in the fall is that it’s so much cooler even inside workouts seem so much nicer since you’re not dying for heat and humidity!

  14. Alycia on October 7, 2011 at 1:53 pm

Your macaroons always look so yummy!

My favorite fall workout is taking my dog for a walk outside. I live in Wisconsin, so winter (Nov-Apr) is too cold, snowy/icy/wet to enjoy the outdoors. Fall is my favorite time to be outside, so I love grabbing the leash and taking my girl for a long walk. We leave hubby and my son at home, and have our version of girl time! 😉

  15. Kate on October 7, 2011 at 1:53 pm

Definitely outdoor workouts! Love finding new lakes & trails to go jogging on bc the nice weather w/o insane humidity (which is a rarity here). Theres something so peaceful about fall weather 🙂

  16. Rachel on October 7, 2011 at 1:53 pm

My favorite fall workout is ultrarunning! There are a ton of great races all over the country (and the globe, but I need $$ to race those, wahhh). There is nothing better than super-long races that let me experience beautiful weather, scenery, and lots of great people.

  17. ashli on October 7, 2011 at 1:54 pm

I love to take the dogs for nice long walks this time of year (they end up walking me by the end of our adventure)!!

    Those ‘roons look amazing!

  18. Kim on October 7, 2011 at 1:54 pm

this weather makes me exercise as much as possible outside on the cool days, but i also introduce more strength training indoors because nothing like a good sweat sesh to make me feel strong and warm my body : )

  19. Yvette on October 7, 2011 at 1:54 pm

I sure enjoy my runs a lot more in cooler weather! Being in Southeast Texas, we never know when that will actually be!

  20. Tami Jo Eaton on October 7, 2011 at 1:54 pm

Ooooh yum!!! Lemon Lavender. I have to wake up and run at 4:30, or I won’t get it done, with work and kids. Since it is still dark, I had to invest in a treadmill. I open up the garage door and it feels like I am outside. I especially love the mornings when it is raining.

  21. Sarah on October 7, 2011 at 1:54 pm

In fall/winter I love to do Bikram too, as well as hiking and skiing. In the gym I stick to the old reliable treadmill and elliptical!

  22. Liz P on October 7, 2011 at 1:54 pm

I love to go snowshoeing in the winter. I live in Utah, so outside workouts are pretty limited unless it involves the snow! It is one of the best leg workouts combined with cardio.

  23. Laura @Scribbles and Sass on October 7, 2011 at 1:55 pm

Now that I moved to the mountains I can’t wait to be snowboarding in the winter to get my heart pumping!
But lets be serious, I just enjoy jumping around in the snow!

    🙂

  24. MariBu on October 7, 2011 at 1:55 pm

Love this ! My favorite workout during fall is going for long walks with the hubby and the kids! Perfect weather lots of fun!

  25. Blair on October 7, 2011 at 1:55 pm

i’m excited to do some more outdoor running! i just moved to a new city and am looking forward to exploring it on my runs 🙂

  26. Jamie @ FoodinRealLife on October 7, 2011 at 1:55 pm

What a great giveaway! Food and cosmetics? Amazing. My favorite cool weather workout is running! I just love the fresh air and being outdoors. Now that I’m pregnant and not running, I look forward to taking lots of long walks and admiring the changing leaves 🙂

  27. BarbaraLW on October 7, 2011 at 1:55 pm

I live in Virginia – and the fall leaves are so beautiful! I like to take my 2 crazy dogs to a nearby park that is just for running/hiking/biking and enjoy the scenery and crisp cool air. We can get a nice long walk with some uphill action to work on those legs and glutes!

  28. Beth on October 7, 2011 at 1:56 pm

I definitely hit the gym more often in the colder months. I love to take more classes in the winter to change up my routine, especially spin!

  29. maria on October 7, 2011 at 1:56 pm

in San Francisco, this is the nicest/warmest time of year! I’m getting some nice long evening walks in with my boyfriend. Plus, lots and lots and lots of bike riding!

  30. Crystal Hodgson on October 7, 2011 at 1:56 pm

    Good morning!

I live in Canada and we sure get to see the seasons change! The bf and I love to go walking when the leaves are changing and just enjoy the colours and smells. Of course, we have to bring our puppy along. Running after her sure keeps us active!

    TGIF! 🙂

    Crystal

  31. Kim on October 7, 2011 at 1:56 pm

My favorite winter workout is hot yoga! I live in the Midwest, so it gets pretty cold here…there’s nothing better on a cold winter’s day!

  32. Ana on October 7, 2011 at 1:56 pm

Nothing like the idea of a macarron to make my Friday more sweet!
I am actually the opposite as you, as the weather start to cool down I move my workouts to indoors, I am not a fan of cold weather. My favorite thing during the winter months is lifting weights and most than anything Yoga! Love yoga and for some reason I find it is absolutely the best during the colder months!
    Ana

  33. Alison on October 7, 2011 at 1:56 pm

Since I workout at night or super early AM when its usually dark in the fall & winter – my favorite workout is either strength video or HIIT elliptical.

  34. Kelly @ Pursuing Fabulous on October 7, 2011 at 1:56 pm

I really enjoy getting outside for walks in the crisp fall weather… but for cardio/weights sessions I’m still rockin’ it inside! Gonna try the October workout today! 🙂

  35. Athena @ Fitness & Feta on October 7, 2011 at 1:56 pm

    In the fall: outdoor bootcamp!
In the winter: heat yoga or dance class

    Great giveaway 🙂

  36. Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups on October 7, 2011 at 1:57 pm

Yay, happy Friday! I live in Orlando, so my favorite fall and winter workout is running outside. It’s so nice when the humidity is finally down and there’s a nice chill in the air, but it doesn’t get so cold that I’m running through snow. It’s followed closely by longer walks with the pup. He gets so spry once cooler weather hits!

  37. Tracey B on October 7, 2011 at 1:57 pm

My favourite fall workout is doing things in the SNOW! (which we get plenty of in Canada). Skiing and snowshoeing are always great options, and work out more muscles than you can believe!

  38. Lori Z. on October 7, 2011 at 1:57 pm

It has been so hot in TX that I am really looking forward to fall running!!

  39. Reagan on October 7, 2011 at 1:57 pm

I love running outside all year, but living in Oklahoma, it is so nice to run in the cool fall mornings!

  40. adriana on October 7, 2011 at 1:57 pm

My favorite workout, no matter what kind of year, is running!

  41. kayleigh on October 7, 2011 at 1:57 pm

i love being able to do anything and everything outside without instantly sweating. then when it gets cold indoor yoga and pilates, and zumba. this giveaway is so fun!

  42. Leea on October 7, 2011 at 1:58 pm

Like everyone, I like going outside to do my workouts! I especially love hiking and being awed by the fall foliage.

  43. Jenn G on October 7, 2011 at 1:58 pm

My favorite fall work out is by far is going for hikes & geocaching! My favorite winter work out is snow shoeing. Yum Macaroons! Thanks Gina!

  44. Melody on October 7, 2011 at 1:58 pm

I love hiking in the fall, or just taking long walks with my dog. And once it gets colder I agree that hot yoga is awesome!

  45. jessica on October 7, 2011 at 1:58 pm

hiking! living in CA means no snow and great temps for outdoor activities 🙂

  46. tracy on October 7, 2011 at 1:58 pm

I am a runner, so when it gets to fall-like temperatures I get to run outside more without melting!

  47. Carolyn on October 7, 2011 at 1:58 pm

Believe it or not, I actually like running in the winter. And I live in Minnesota. Something hard core about it!

  48. Kelster on October 7, 2011 at 1:59 pm

I walk two miles everyday but when it gets cooler, I go for much longer walks. Plus, my indoor exercises are more comfortable.

  49. jessica on October 7, 2011 at 1:59 pm

call me crazy, but i love running outside in the winter. i live in michigan and hate the cold/snow except for when i run. it makes me feel bad ass.

  50. Kristen on October 7, 2011 at 1:59 pm

First, I just want tell you that your blog is my favorite! I really love that you added the Family page. I am 19 weeks with our first and you have really given me some insight. Not to mention the inspiration you give me to be a fit mama.
My hubby and I really enjoy bike rides during the fall but with my preggo belly starting to grow I’m not sure how much longer I can comfortably ride a bike. So I will just continue my frequent walks by the river. Love it!
