Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says “Happy Friday]

It’s another lovely, cool day over here. It’s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

I’m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I can’t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighbor’s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldn’t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think they’re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

roon

I’ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, I’ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

Living in Texas it’s hard to keep up running in the summer. I love when the mornings and evenings start to cool down a little makes the run so much more enjoyable!

  2. Jenny on October 7, 2011 at 1:59 pm

In the fall I love to go hiking! And in the winter its either hot yoga or more zumba!

  3. Carrie on October 7, 2011 at 1:59 pm

I’m always cold…so when winter finally hits, I can barely find the motivation to go to my car and head to the gym. My boyfriend and I will workout at the house and challenge each other. We’ll do things like plyometrics to burn some major calories and keep things interesting.

  4. Robyn on October 7, 2011 at 1:59 pm

There is nothing better than going for an autumn jog on my favorite Chipman trail with all of the multicolored leaves to keep me company. 🙂

  5. aj on October 7, 2011 at 1:59 pm

I LOVE fall workouts. Since running has always been my thing, I love to run in leggings and a long sleeve t-shirt. The fall air leaves me feeling so refreshed, and also makes me feel better about sneaking a little halloween candy here and there. : ) When the days get shorter, I take my workouts inside and try out some new classes.

  6. brandalyn bretzer on October 7, 2011 at 1:59 pm

I live near Seattle, WA, the emerald state, because it rains all the time! So my favorite work out is Zumba because it’s inside and dancing=working out=fun!

  7. Ashley O. @ The Vegetable Life on October 7, 2011 at 1:59 pm

I love taking more walks in the fall to take in the nice cool breeze and gorgeous leaves!!!!

  8. Cara on October 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm

My favorite is walking and especially walking around the football track at a local college. With school back in session they leave the lights on longer and its fun to walk arund and watch the kids practice. Reminds me of high school!

  9. Patricia on October 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm

Walks with the puppies! They love crunching through leaves!

  10. Tiffany on October 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm

The tempatures outside and the beautiful fall colors are the perfect set up for great long walks!

  11. Kelly on October 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm

My fall/winter workout plan is to get my butt to more fitness classes and hot yoga to warm up!

  12. Kimberley on October 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm

My favorite workout right now is going for runs around the pond by my house because I get to look at all the pretty colour leaves turning colours! Its awesome!

  13. Alicia Plascencia on October 7, 2011 at 2:01 pm

My favorite fall/winter workout is Zumba!! It is good all year long 🙂

  14. Cait @ Cait hates Cake on October 7, 2011 at 2:01 pm

Running and walks outside in the fall.

  15. Allison on October 7, 2011 at 2:01 pm

I love running in the fall:) Here in Florida i don’t run outside from may through september since its way to hot by mid-day which is the only time i could get out there. So i am super super super excited for the fall temps!!

Good luck finding the parking brake!! Did you look down on the left side kinda near the pedals? Sometimes its down there. I definitely drove over 100 miles in someones car with the parking brake on since i didn’t realize it was there lol

  16. Alison (Fueling for Fitness) on October 7, 2011 at 2:01 pm

Definitely running outdoors. I love the cooler air after sweating it out over the summer. 🙂

  17. Melissa on October 7, 2011 at 2:01 pm

Wow! How incredibly generous of you to not only bake a batch of macaroons but also include a gift card! One of my favorite things about fall is taking a long walk in the crisp fresh air!!! Love it! I hope you have a great weekend! 🙂

  18. Amanda on October 7, 2011 at 2:02 pm

I love that its cooler so I can take walks with my 2 dogs!

  19. Emma (ecoprincess) on October 7, 2011 at 2:02 pm

For me, my favourite workout in the winter is hiking. Does that class as a workout? Most things don’t change for me in the winter as I always exercise in the gym anyway, but I love it when it’s cold and crisp to take my fiance and my puppy and do some hiking somewhere with beautiful scenery. Perfect! Then come home to a lovely cup of hot chocolate 😀

  20. Diana on October 7, 2011 at 2:02 pm

It may be boring, but I really do love running in the fall – once the temperature drops, I sweat way less and feel much better throughout the run. Changing seasons are always a great time to be outside, and I love crunching through leaves 🙂

  21. Tiffanie on October 7, 2011 at 2:02 pm

I’m looking forward to taking my bootcamp workouts back outside in the large yard behind my gym. We’ll be back to flipping tires, sledgehammers, sprinting around the yard, and tire push ups. All of those beastly moves make me feel really good when I get through them because I consider myself such a girlie girl 🙂 I love fall!!

  22. whitney on October 7, 2011 at 2:02 pm

so excited fall is here again!! The cool fresh air is great for longer runs outside instead of the treadmill!
    Wish you a good Friday!

  23. Anna on October 7, 2011 at 2:02 pm

My favourite fall/winter workout is yoga and walking. Truth be told I love doing those exercises all year long even in the snow. I’m at my most fit in the winter time after walking through huge piles of snow.

  24. manda_michelle on October 7, 2011 at 2:03 pm

i love turning my attention to inside workouts in the winter, more strength training, which i always avoid in the summer because i just want to be outside running or biking! also, swimming keeps me warm in the fall/winter too.

  25. Mindy on October 7, 2011 at 2:03 pm

Gina, you are so sweet! My favorite fall workout is running/walking around a 4 mile path that interwines beside and over the Chattahoochee River in Georgia!

  26. Heather on October 7, 2011 at 2:03 pm

My favorite workout is shopping 🙂 hehe. But besides that.. I love doing yoga since running outside is becoming difficult here in chilly new england.

  27. Katie on October 7, 2011 at 2:03 pm

    Yum those macaroons look amazing!

My favorite fall/winter workout is runnning outside. Especially when it’s raining. There’s something motivating about working out when no one else is. It makes you feel the determination and commitment to being active and present. Besides the smell of rain and color of the trees is fun.

    Happy Friday!!!

  28. Shareece on October 7, 2011 at 2:03 pm

That is so generous of you to offer! You’re a peach. I love outdoor walks this time of year, they are perfect to me! Enjoy your day!

  29. Jennie on October 7, 2011 at 2:03 pm

My favourite fall workout is definitely biking – I love getting a red nose/cheeks from the wind! I also end up taking my workouts indoors normally to the gym, where I climb on the stepper and also amp up my strength workouts.

  30. Sylvia on October 7, 2011 at 2:03 pm

I always start craving more yoga in fall/winter. Maybe because all i want to do during cooler weather is just relax 🙂

  31. Caryn on October 7, 2011 at 2:03 pm

I love to run/walk outside and enjoy the cooler temps. Definitely agree that hot yoga is a MUST when it hits below freezing too 🙂

  32. Kristin on October 7, 2011 at 2:03 pm

Fall always gets me in race mode, the cool weather makes running so much more enjoyable!! I also love hiking in the mountains- the colors are simply beauiful!

  33. Maggie on October 7, 2011 at 2:03 pm

My favorite fall/winter workout is going to the trails to go running. Fall is my favorite season and I love seeing the all the leaves changing colors and falling off of the trees.

  34. Katie Oz on October 7, 2011 at 2:04 pm

I do hot yoga nearly every day in the winter! It is the perfect way to warm up and stay fit. I love it!

  35. Brittany on October 7, 2011 at 2:04 pm

I love to go for walks at the park across the street, and maybe take a quick workout on the monkey bars 🙂 I also enjoy having fun with my roommate to different exercise programs on the OnDemand feature on the TV.

  36. Andrea on October 7, 2011 at 2:04 pm

    I plan to BodyRock it!

  37. Chelsea on October 7, 2011 at 2:04 pm

Walks and hikes outdoors (whenever it does cool down in steamy Houston!) with the hubs and baby :).

  38. Michelle on October 7, 2011 at 2:04 pm

My favorite fall activity is running! After a summer slogging through heat, running in cooler temperatures feels AWESOME. When it gets to cold (or dark at night!) to run outside, I love trying different gym classes to shake it up!

  39. Mandi on October 7, 2011 at 2:05 pm

I start running after work. I love this because it keeps me accountable for what I eat during the day! 🙂

  40. Elizabeth on October 7, 2011 at 2:05 pm

I would have to say breaking out my winter work out gear and going outside for hikes. In the cooler temps the trails are not as crowded plus I love my winter work out gear.

  41. Mari on October 7, 2011 at 2:05 pm

My hands-down favorite fall workout is spending time outdoors with my two pups. Now that the weather isn’t crazy hot, I make sure to take them on extra-long walks, which they love. 🙂 As for me, I love jogging and hot yoga (but I love it any time of the year!)

  42. Lauren on October 7, 2011 at 2:05 pm

Outside runs are so much easier in the fall and I start hot yoga again! I also love hiking in the fall and seeing all the leaves change color.

  43. millie on October 7, 2011 at 2:05 pm

long walks or jogs are so lovely in the crisp, cool air! but when it’s too cold or rainy, pilates or yoga vids work!
your roons look so tasty! thanks for the giveaway! 🙂

  44. Elyse on October 7, 2011 at 2:05 pm

I am working on getting back in to the workout mode again. I am starting the c25k program this Sunday. I have never been able to really run before so I hope this program helps! I chose fall/winter to start running because summer is just too dang hot!!!!!

  45. Erica @ The Squeeze on October 7, 2011 at 2:05 pm

I start running outside more often with the cooler weather. Hiking is going to make a comeback as well. Yay for roons!

  46. Rachel on October 7, 2011 at 2:05 pm

I love when it cools down so I can finally run outside. It’s way too hot to do that most of the year in Texas! 🙂

  47. Jana on October 7, 2011 at 2:05 pm

Even though most people wouldn’t expect it, Nebraska’s weather is known for its extremes! Right now it’s 87 degrees (somewhat unseasonably warm) but with beautiful orange, yellow and red leaves falling from the trees. So we’re taking advantage of the cooler evenings for long walks with our pup. (She’s a toy poodle named Scarlett, she says hi to Bella.) Within a few days sometime soon, the weather will drastically swing the other way and it will be freezing with snow on the ground. I’ve already got my yoga and Zumba schedule set for when it happens!

  48. Rachel on October 7, 2011 at 2:05 pm

Thanks Fitnessista! While it’s still cool and not yet freezing I love runs/walks/ and most of all going hiking out doors, once it’s freezing I love yoga and if it’s too cold to make it out of my apartment (i’m a wimp) I do more indoor fitness TV workouts. Enjoy your day!

  49. Errign on October 7, 2011 at 2:06 pm

My favorite fall workouts are hikes to go leaf peepin’ or just nice weather runs 🙂
My favorite winter workout is SKIING 🙂

  50. Brandi on October 7, 2011 at 2:06 pm

I LOVE hiking! The colors and crunching of the Autumn leaves. The crisp cool dry air. I love it all!
