Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says “Happy Friday]

It’s another lovely, cool day over here. It’s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

I’m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I can’t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighbor’s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldn’t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think they’re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

roon

I’ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, I’ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

I just bundle up and head outside for a long walk, hike, or run! That’s what layers are for! 🙂

  2. Ashley Blosch on October 7, 2011 at 2:17 pm

For me, here in Iowa the fall is my favorite of all the seasons. The air is crisp, the leaves are beautiful and i love the bite of the cold on my cheeks. I love to run outside to take advantage of the temperatures and scenery, but also to gear up for the cabin fever i will soon have, as we get loads of snow when winter comes. I like to use my workout ball in the back yard to do squats and abs and get some quality time in with the puppy. It’s a great way to take advantage of shorter days and still feel very accomplished for the day.

My favorite fall/winter workout is Yoga….Have a lovely Day!

  4. Kerry on October 7, 2011 at 2:17 pm

I just started running a few months ago and initially would run inside on the treadmill. Now that the weather is cooling off I’ve been enjoying more outside runs.

  5. Nicole on October 7, 2011 at 2:17 pm

Macaroons sound amazing right now!! During the fall I love jogging outdoors in the crisp, cool air! It’s so refreshing and the scenery is beautiful, too. Thanks for the giveaway!

  6. Tara @ My Pretty Pink Mixer on October 7, 2011 at 2:17 pm

I live in Texas so as soon as the temperature starts to drop, I love not only being able to run outside at anytime of day, but getting the dogs out to go hiking! The Texas heat is too much for our big dogs to do anything too strenuous in the summer, but once it gets cooler, they love exploring in the woods!

  7. Dawn on October 7, 2011 at 2:17 pm

I layer myself up and get out to run in the cool, crisp air. I will even run when it’s below zero and very much look forward to my post-run coffee & oatmeal breakfast!

  8. victoria on October 7, 2011 at 2:17 pm

I live in Southern California, so weather isn’t so much an issue…i just continue with my morning 3mi walks, just adding layers accordingly and something to cover my ears (they don’t like the cold). Yoga & Pilates CD’s for rainy days. Been dying to try your macaroons…mmmm

  9. mi-an d. on October 7, 2011 at 2:18 pm

I do a lot of at home bootcamp workouts, bodyrock workouts, running on the treadmill, AND lots of power yoga, hot yoga!!! oh i love going into heated rooms for yoga….

  10. Rachel on October 7, 2011 at 2:18 pm

I seem to get bitten by the running bug when Fall comes around. No humidity = perfect for outdoor cardio.

  11. Emily H. on October 7, 2011 at 2:19 pm

I love fall runs outside! The cool air/pretty colors make running so much easier.

  12. Julie @ Shining From Within on October 7, 2011 at 2:19 pm

I have been loving going to the park and doing intervals with running/walking and strength using the benches (pushups, tricep dips, etc)!

  13. Casey on October 7, 2011 at 2:20 pm

Living in central new york makes winter workouts a little tricky, so my friends and I make sure to take advantage of mother nature. Ice skating, snow ball fights, and climbing up hills to sled are amazing ways to work the whole body!

  14. Cyndie on October 7, 2011 at 2:20 pm

My favorite fall workout would definitely have to be running outside. I honestly don’t spend much time outside in the summer because it’s too hot, but once fall hits I love the fresh air!

  15. Maria on October 7, 2011 at 2:20 pm

My favorite winter workout is snowshoeing up a mountain. My quads are sore for days 🙂

  16. Jasmine on October 7, 2011 at 2:21 pm

my favorite is running outside when it’s nice and chilly!

  17. Brianna on October 7, 2011 at 2:21 pm

Ooo! This giveaway is fabulous! My favorite fall workout is hiking. All the leaves changing in NY make it so pretty!

  18. Natalie Negroni on October 7, 2011 at 2:21 pm

Hey Gina, now that weather is cooling down here in Florida:), I’m going for walks w/ my beagle after i finish my gym work out. For the winter I like doing DVD work outs my favorite is the beach body Brazilian Butt Lift series! It always leaves my legs screaming for mercy!!

  19. tania on October 7, 2011 at 2:21 pm

since i live in the great white north aka Toronto, come December, there is a pile of snow outside, so i like to hit it up at the gym with tabata intervals- what killers, but quick and dirty! my favourite moves to do are squats and deadlifts then hit that bad boy up with elliptical intervals with crazy inclines up and down….
p.s. Gina, i love your idea of a crumbled larabar on oatmeal! i just started adding raspberries to my oats when half way cooked, can iyou say OMG ?!they take it to a whole other level, reminds me of a nice big calorific bakery raspberry muffin, without of course the calorific calories!
p.p.s you look too cute with your bump 🙂

  20. Tara on October 7, 2011 at 2:22 pm

On Wednesday, it rained (no poured) so my neighbor and I decided to skip the gym and workout in her living room. Instead of doing our normal take on cardio with a dvd like Insanity or Jullian Michaels, we pulled out the Billy Blanks dvd and dressed in our best interpretation of 1980’s Jane Fonda workout clothes, headbands and all, and killed it with 60 minutes of intense Tae Bo. We had so much fun we are going to incorporate old school workout videos (and dressing up for it) into our workout routine. Can’t wait for our Halloween workout!

  21. Emily on October 7, 2011 at 2:22 pm

I LOVE running outside during the fall! And even during the winter…I’ll take cold & layers over “so hot I can’t move my feet forward or I’m going to collapse” any day!

  22. Tiffany on October 7, 2011 at 2:23 pm

I absolutely love running outside during the fall/winter. When I can get in a 10 mile run without sweating my body weight, that is glorious :). I also love taking walks outside with my dog who is a huge fan of cold weather as she is an Alaskan Malamute.

  23. Becky @ The Bex Factor on October 7, 2011 at 2:23 pm

My favorite fall workout is running outdoors. My city has an amazingly beautiful trail system and I love running through the fallen leaves in the crisp cool air! Once it’s too dark & cold to run, I hit up hot yoga. Best things about this time of year!

  24. kate on October 7, 2011 at 2:23 pm

great giveaway!! my favorite fall/winter workout would be indoors since i live in the midwest! but i enjoy my treadmill workouts at home or my favorite dvds such as tone it up and bethenny frankels yoga dvd! happy friday everyone!

  25. miah on October 7, 2011 at 2:23 pm

just getting up when it’s still dark outside and going for a morning workout gives me a great sense of accomplishment to carry through the rest of the day!

  26. Coco on October 7, 2011 at 2:23 pm

I like doing Yoga and then relaxing on the couch with a cup of tea 🙂

  27. RachelG on October 7, 2011 at 2:23 pm

My favorite fall/winter workout is running in my neighborhood. I know the run by heart but it’s so different (and a little nicer) with the changing leaves and lack of humidity. 🙂

  28. Jessie on October 7, 2011 at 2:23 pm

Hi Gina! This is my first comment…I just have to say you are adorable and I love reading your blog! I live in San Francisco so during the summer it is perfect running weather (not too hot!) but once the weather gets cooler and rainy, I do a lot more indoor workouts like Bodyrock or Vinyasa Yoga.
    Have a great weekend 🙂

  29. Ellen on October 7, 2011 at 2:25 pm

Oh getting a package of Gina macaroons would make my day (er, more like month!!)

My favorite fall/winter work out is kickboxing… who knew I loved to kick things so much?! haha

  30. Julie (A Case of the Runs) on October 7, 2011 at 2:25 pm

I love running in the cold weather! We had a small dip in temps here (in So Cal) this week, and just being outside made me want to RUN.

The other thing I can’t wait to do is snowboard. I’m a n00b and I suck, but this time I think I will go with a formal lesson.

  31. Jessica H on October 7, 2011 at 2:25 pm

I like to take after dinner walks with my daughter! Also Zumba is an all weather activity for me!

  32. Alicia A. on October 7, 2011 at 2:25 pm

We generally start to hike more again. My doberman loves to go on hikes and Illinois summers don’t generally allow too much extended outdoor time. Plus hiking the hills with all the trees changing colors is just beautiful.

  33. Georgia on October 7, 2011 at 2:25 pm

Jogging. Nothing like cool weather to encourage me to hit the pavement again!

  34. Sara Stainbrook on October 7, 2011 at 2:26 pm

running or biking outside would have to be the best!

  35. Elizabeth @ reads recipes runs on October 7, 2011 at 2:26 pm

What a fun giveaway! I am in LOVE cold weather so much, I find it so invigorating!! Running and checking out the mountains topped with snow, amazing!

  36. Paige on October 7, 2011 at 2:26 pm

I hate doing tempo runs or track intervals in the heat of the summer, but by October the weather is so perfect that I look forward to those tough workouts!

  37. Katheryn on October 7, 2011 at 2:27 pm

    Running and bikram yoga.

  38. Loni on October 7, 2011 at 2:27 pm

My favorite is always change. Either outside, or trying a new yoga studio. I tried Zumba for the first time last week and loved it! Change is so great when trying to avoid
    plateaus.

  39. julie k on October 7, 2011 at 2:27 pm

My favorite winter workout would be a combination of a long trail run with my pup, followed by yoga. I used to do yoga in a room with a wood-burning stove so it got nice and toasty! I plan on taking up actual hot yoga this winter since I moved to Colorado recently, and my employer enables us to have unlimited (hot) yoga!

  40. Rachel on October 7, 2011 at 2:27 pm

What a great giveaway! I am absolutely loving this fall weather! : )

  41. Monica Cardenas on October 7, 2011 at 2:28 pm

Running outside in the fall is the best – especially after suffering through the summer humidity!

  42. Lisa on October 7, 2011 at 2:28 pm

Yum! I like to walk around the field or track when my girls are at sports’ practice.

  43. Liz on October 7, 2011 at 2:28 pm

Winter is great motivation to hit the gym and really focus on strength training; I do it year round, but when the weather is nice, I tend to be want to be out running/hiking/biking more, so colder temps, darker mornings, and rainy days encourage me to stay inside and get my lift on.

  44. Molly on October 7, 2011 at 2:28 pm

    My favorite fall/winter workout is T-Tapp! 🙂

  45. Steph on October 7, 2011 at 2:29 pm

My favorite fall workout is taking long walks outside, weather permitting. My favorite winter workout… well, I don’t love anything in particular, but I do elliptical more in the wintertime!

  46. Crystal on October 7, 2011 at 2:29 pm

My goals this Fall/Winter are to start running outside. I recently purchased some Vibrams so I’d like to start training with those. I’ve done vinyasa for awhile but never hot yoga. It sounds like the perfect winter workout so I’ll have to give it a try. Thank you for the giveaway Gina! Your generosity is appreciated!

  47. megan on October 7, 2011 at 2:29 pm
