Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says โ€œHappy Friday]

Itโ€™s another lovely, cool day over here. Itโ€™s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

Iโ€™m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I canโ€™t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighborโ€™s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldnโ€™t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think theyโ€™re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

roon

Iโ€™ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, Iโ€™ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

  2. Gavi @ Gavi Gets Going! on October 7, 2011 at 2:41 pm

Thanks for this great opportunity! My favorite fall/winter workout is boxing. I love taking the indoor boxing class offered at my gym. It is an intense, challenging, sweaty workout, and it always leaves me feeling energized and refreshed. Have a great day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Tracy @ Commit to Fit on October 7, 2011 at 2:41 pm

I love to get outside for my workout in the fall. The view is beautiful and them temperature is perfect. I also hit the pavement in the winter for a run/walk, I just dress in layers ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Jamie on October 7, 2011 at 2:41 pm

I love love love running outside once it gets cooler but once it’s too cold, i love taking it inside for some zumba!!

  5. Molly@This Life Is Sparkling on October 7, 2011 at 2:41 pm

Since I live in the mid-west, my workouts for the colder weather are inside. I love the elliptical as well as taking spinning or Zumba!

  6. Beverly on October 7, 2011 at 2:42 pm

My favorite workout is T-Tapp, doesn’t get any better than that…………

  7. Corie on October 7, 2011 at 2:42 pm

It gets cold in PA pretty quickly so I like to run outside while it’s still semi warm – before the snow starts to fall! Once winter comes along I move indoors to the treadmill which isn’t as fun but gets the job done!

  8. Anne G. on October 7, 2011 at 2:42 pm

Running and just walking outside! So much more comfortable than in the Winter or Summer!

  9. Emily on October 7, 2011 at 2:42 pm

What a great giveaway! I am looking forward to trail-running and leaf-peeping in the northeast this fall!

  10. Carrie on October 7, 2011 at 2:43 pm

I absolutely love to hike in the fall–it’s so beautiful and peaceful.

  11. Corey on October 7, 2011 at 2:43 pm

    Walking my precious pup outside!

And then walking to the gym to spend some time in the sauna for warmth!

  12. Amber on October 7, 2011 at 2:43 pm

My favorite fall workout has been an extreme cardio class I am taking at our local YMCA. I love taking classes! I love your blog and have used a couple of your toning workouts recently. Thanks for all you do!

  13. Jaime on October 7, 2011 at 2:43 pm

I don’t necessarily change anything about my workouts, but i am so much more motivated to work out in the fall/winter. I can’t stand working out in the summer (even when I’m working out inside, I still feel hot)!

  14. Michelle on October 7, 2011 at 2:43 pm

    Hot yoga for sure!

  15. lori on October 7, 2011 at 2:44 pm

running!! it’s so hot here so i love the chance to enjoy the cooler weather

  16. Nicole on October 7, 2011 at 2:44 pm

My favorite fall workout is either hiking the trails and seeing the leaves in the crisp weather or trail running (for the same reason!) ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Whitney Frack on October 7, 2011 at 2:45 pm

I love to run outside in the fall when the leaves are beautiful and you can’t beat the weather!

  18. Gretchen on October 7, 2011 at 2:45 pm

Drooling over that picture of the macaroons right now…

The fall is the most perfect season to run in- the crispness of the air and the gorgeousness of the foliage (I’m a New England girl) combined with some sweat and endorphins makes for one of the greatest feelings ever! I’m also a big fan of dance parties to warm up ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. Lyndsey on October 7, 2011 at 2:46 pm

Fall is such a great time for just a simple relaxing walk! Even though I LOVE summer, the humidity here in D.C. can get so unbearable during the summer.

  20. Sara on October 7, 2011 at 2:46 pm

I start doing more of my workouts in the my living room when the weather starts to get colder. I have a big open space and a large collection of workout videos. I have been loving turbo fire lately!

  21. Chantelle on October 7, 2011 at 2:46 pm

I wish that I could say outdoor workouts like a lot of other people, but unfortunately it gets too cold too fast where I’m at!! ๐Ÿ™ So now it’s getting to be time to head indoors, meaning I do a lot of balletone, yoga, weightlifting and machine cardio! But it’s a good mix of classes/machines so that I don’t get burnt out, so I actually enjoy the winter workouts!

  22. Sam @ Downward Dork to Downward Diva on October 7, 2011 at 2:47 pm

It’s already feeling very autumn-y here! I am hoping to focus a lot more on interval training workouts like Bodyrock and I will continue with yoga classes at least once per week. I’m stoked to try hot yoga – I’ve never done it before and I think it will be great for warming up after a long day sitting in my very cold office!!

Also, I have just started riding my bike to work, which is just over 2 miles away on a main road with a cycle path on the side. I have a reflective helmet and a light for the front and back of my bike so that I can safely ride in the dark. That means no waiting for the bus (which is always late!) in the cold, lots of money saved, and I will also get home faster. Not to mention it will be two bursts of extra exercise every day! I am super excited to ride my bike all winter as cycling has never been a very big part of my life before. I am really enjoying it so far.

  23. Sara (Running with Teaspoons) on October 7, 2011 at 2:47 pm

my favorite fall/winter work out is being able to go for a run in the afternoon (instead of really early to avoid the heat)! when it gets too chilly to go out i like doing jillian michael’s no more trouble zones to tone up and get my sweat on inside ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Ann on October 7, 2011 at 2:48 pm

My exercise of choice these days at 29 wks pregnant is walking outside. I admit that I’m getting slower as the weeks go on, though!

  25. Lauren on October 7, 2011 at 2:48 pm

I love running outside! I call it quits for the summer and pick it up once it starts to cool off. The foilage is grate and my favorite runs usually involve stepping on as many crunchy-looking leaves as I can find!

  26. Jen@FoodFamilyFitness on October 7, 2011 at 2:48 pm

I live in michigan where it’s C.O.L.D. for most of the year. When it gets really cold, I break out the workout DVD’s.

  27. Erin on October 7, 2011 at 2:48 pm

I like to walk if it isn’t too cold. Otherwise, I stay inside!!

  28. Talia on October 7, 2011 at 2:49 pm

My favorite is hiking Runyon Canyon in Los Angeles! It feels amazing with the cooler temps!!

  29. nikki on October 7, 2011 at 2:49 pm

Hi Gina! My fav fall workout is running…either (1) sprints on the track (Since the track is unlocked during schooltime) or (2) sprints on the treadmill inside, followed by an easy run in the cooler temps outside. Thanks – they look delic!!

  30. Maggie on October 7, 2011 at 2:49 pm

Cold weather always makes me sad, but I do love sledding. And its a great workout!

  31. Yin on October 7, 2011 at 2:49 pm

I would have to say running outdoors. The summer heat kills me but cooler weather = wind = slapping me in the face = love and refreshing ๐Ÿ˜€

  32. Michelle on October 7, 2011 at 2:49 pm

I am so excited to start hot yoga classes again now that the temps are cooling down!

  33. Allison on October 7, 2011 at 2:49 pm

I love escaping the gym in the fall and going for runs outside. It’s so peaceful and calming to take in all the changing colors around me ๐Ÿ™‚

  34. lynn on October 7, 2011 at 2:50 pm

I practice yoga and spin year round, and I love to run outside as much as possible on beautiful fall days. The heat from spinning and hot yoga are so much more appealing once it cools off and gets really cold and snowy than on the 90+ degree days we experienced so often this summer in Ohio!

  35. Jackie on October 7, 2011 at 2:50 pm

Running outside in the cooler weather! I won’t go back to the gym until its freezing & rainy.

  36. Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews on October 7, 2011 at 2:50 pm

My favorite fall workout is a bike ride while looking at all of the beautiful leaves changing colors!

  37. ashley on October 7, 2011 at 2:51 pm

Hot yoga is a must especially when you live in PA and we have winter foreverrrrrr! ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. Amy on October 7, 2011 at 2:51 pm

In the Fall/Winter I like to do walks outside as long as the allergens/cold weather permit it. The littles like to go for long walks with me in the Fall too. I have issues allergies 3/4 of the year, winter is my only season when I only have to take allergy meds if we’re going to someone’s house who has cats. When I have to do indoor workouts in the Fall/Winter we usually do crazy dance party for a song and stretching for a song alternating with each new song for 30 minutes. I need to get a working camera so I can take video of the crazy dance party sometime, the 2.5 year old jumps off of everything while dancing it’s funny.

  39. Eva on October 7, 2011 at 2:51 pm

Since it has already snowed here, I am taking advantage of indoor boot camps and interval work-outs on the treadmill — I like to save hot yoga for the really coldest months in January and February as a treat! Can’t wait!

  40. Beth on October 7, 2011 at 2:52 pm

I love walking outside when it’s chilly. The air is so fresh and clean!

  41. Jes on October 7, 2011 at 2:52 pm

This does not apply for fall, but in the winter, when the river in our backyard freezes thick, I LOVE to ice skate with the bf and pass a hockey puck around. So much fun! Especially when it is dark out, and the moon lights up the river…. One of my favorite workouts right there =)

  42. Whit on October 7, 2011 at 2:52 pm

    Hiking, fo sho.
Escaping the city and taking in the mountains and fresh air.
    Truly delightful, I tell ya.

  43. Liz on October 7, 2011 at 2:52 pm

In the fall, I love to go hiking. The fall foliage here in new England is amazing. Winter is hot yoga, hiking only if I am adventurous!

  44. Lisa @ Fresh Spinach on October 7, 2011 at 2:52 pm

I love breaking out the long sleeved work out tops when the weather cools down. My favorite is the Michigan State shirt to remind me of where my grandma went to college.
I’m also more concerned with stretching because of the cold air making it harder to warm up.

  45. Kay on October 7, 2011 at 2:53 pm

I don’t really change anything about my workouts, but I enjoy heating up my body and sweating more during the cooler months than the summer. The difference in body temp really makes me feel like I’m working ya know?

  46. Alyssa on October 7, 2011 at 2:53 pm

I like to start taking more weight oriented classes. Time to bulk up!

  47. Amber L on October 7, 2011 at 2:54 pm

My favorite way to work out when it gets cooler is to take more group fitness classes. Not only do they help me stay motivated to work out in the freezing weather, the class sizes are usually a tad smaller too. That means more room for us to move around – bonus ๐Ÿ™‚

  48. Stacy @ Stacy Eats on October 7, 2011 at 2:54 pm

Those look delicious! I also still need to try crumbling up a Lara Bar on my oats.
I love the fall for running because it’s not 98 degrees out and humid. I always have a half marathon on my schedule for this time of year. When winter rolls around I like to add more classes back into my routine.

  49. Nicole on October 7, 2011 at 2:54 pm

My favorite Fall workout is running outside! We have really cold winters and really hot summers, but the Fall makes for the perfect temp for getting a nice long run in!

  50. Kate on October 7, 2011 at 2:55 pm

My favorite fall workout is jogging outside with my dogs. They can run longer without getting overheated!
